MSI Z68a-GD55-G3 wont post when combined with new RAM

Hi!
I currently have 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance RAM installed and everything was fine. Then I ordered 2x8gb Crucial Ballistix LP (got them cheap).
Both have 9-9-9-24 timings are at 1600MHz, but when installed together PC does not go to even BIOS. Just powers off and then again starts powering up and then powers off (cycle continues)
I have tried the 2 new sticks and they work fine, tried in two different configs (8,x,8,x and x,8,x,8)
With 4 sticks: 8,4,8,4 or 4,8,4,8, no post.
My system specs:
Core i5 2500K
MSI Z68-GD 55 G3
Has anyone had any luck with this combination before. Should I just give up now?
Thanks!

You are not going to have much luck mixing different brands of RAM like that. At the very least if you are going to mix 2 kits of RAM you should buy the exact same models and even then you can't be guaranteed they will work together as the chips may be different from one batch to the next even tho part & model number of the sticks are the same.
Now that 4 channel kits are available you should really go that route.

HI, I just built a new gaming rig and for the life of me, I can't figure out why im getting lag and im not impressed coming from a P4 Dual core.. OK here's my setup
Core 17 2600k with CoolMaster Heat Sink
    MSI Z68A-GD55  B3 mobo
    4x4gb DDR3 1600 Corsair Vengeance Ram 9-9-9-24 Total 16Gbs
EVGA GTX 560TI 2Gb Video Card
CORSAIR GAMING SERIES 800 Watt 65a on the 12v Rail
(ONLY USING ONE HDD    GOT 2 HDD'S TO TROUBLESHOOT TO SEE IF ITS THE HDD)
CURRENTLY IN USE FOR MAIN HDD   1 Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 1TB HDD
1 Western Digital Cavier Black 7200 rpm 2TB HDD
Running on Windows 7 Ultimate x64
So i install the OS and updated all my drivers and for all hardware and updated the BIOS and i got everything stock in the BIOS, No overclocking yet and when im just surfing the web or open up an app, I get this annoying lag and my CPU load and Memeory load will be at 0-5% and it will effing lag... Now i changed out everything thinking it was the problems, down to the Ram 3x's, CPU 1x, Motherboard 3x's (I'm even coming from a different board thinking, that was the the problem. Since i read alot of bad reviews on it.. AN INTEL DP67BG Extreme Series board and come over to the MSI im currently using ) and  my PSU 1x.. and nothing fixed it.. When i run a CPU Stress test it comes back with no ERRORS... Now when i do a Memory Test in the BIOS of the mobo.. It will PASS, no problem.. but if i run it in MEMTEST86 it will FAIL right away.. Then when i test each stick 1 by 1 in BIOS they PASS, NO PROBLEM, But not in Memtest86... So i bought 2 Pairs of 4 new sticks 2 different times.. the same kind of Ram, "which are compatible with this board" and the same thing happens with the lastest MSI BIOS i'll test them with the Memory Tester From BIOS, all 4 sticks and 1 by 1 and then 2 sticks for dual channel in slot 1 nearest CPU and slot 3 and they will PASS but when i try with Memtest86 they FAIL... So i dont think its the Ram cuz 3 different sets are Failing... i  highly doubt it's hardware anymore...  Agree?
Can someone PLEASE HELP ME..! I've been working on this build for 2 straight weeks day and night and i have a bad taste in my mouth over this build. this isnt my first one either and i never, never, ever had theses problems before... i'm about to quit and go back to a p4 dual.. But i don't like to quit and want to feel the power of a i7 2600k that everyone swears by...
please lead me to fixing this... if you can email me for one on one support id compensate you for your time..       [email protected]
BTW i brought it by geek squad and they couldnt figure it out either... but he didnt know his  from his elbow  lol

update so after setting it to 1.52v in bios im noticing  when typing i get freeze up with the cursor and when i open apps the hour glass is appearing at longer then normal even for a p4 chip
any other ideas why is this becoming a nightmare with my hardware can you give me a run down on what everything should be set to in bios.. cuz it looks like default settings are off and im having video card issues but that's for another forum but im thinking they all tie in together..
thank you so much for helping me looks like no one cares to help a fellow builder out.. but when its them in my shoes there quick to beat dowm the door for answers... sorry im just frustated  that over a grand invest and my smartphone feels snappier and responsive then this build.. oh i ya check cpu and the board for mis seated chip and bent pins and correct amount of good paste and heat sink seated and torqued down correctly.. so im not sure anymore  im sooo i just want to

  • MSI GeForce GTX 970 with MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3) motherboard

    Hi!
I have seen a similar issue here that was resolved with the help of this forum. (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=251322.0). I still want to ask my questons however, since I have a slightly different situation.
I recently bought a new Graphics card, a MSI GTX 970, to replace my older EVGA GTX 570. After installing it, the time it takes to startup the computer is quite a bit longer. The very begninning of the startup process is the part that takes longer, I see a black screen and "B2" in the lower right hand corner, with the older GPU this was seen for a few seconds but now it stays that way for about a minute. After that I see some random colors in stead of the MSI logo and then the regular "Starting Windows" image appears, from there the startup is as fast as before.
When the computer has started it seems to work perfectly, and the new graphics card is great, everything on "ultra" in games etc.
I guess the way to resolve this issue is to update BIOS. I am a bit afraid of this however, of the risk of destroying something.
What would be your suggestions? Is it better to update bios or to leave it as it is, since the computer works? Are the any risks with keeping this bios version, that seems to have some issue with the graphics card?
Any help would be greately appreciated!
    /Johan

    Ok, thanks for the advice.
I have started looking at the instructions and have downloaded the installer and the bios file. It seems Norton Internet Security has some problem with the installer.  When I start the installer it reaches the point when it shows the current bios version, after that it is interupted by Norton. The reason that Norton gives is that it has found something called "Suspicious.Cloud.9.B" in the file b4.bks. How should I react to this?

  • MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3) Duel Channel Problem

    Hi,
Recently i built a new computer using
    MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3).
    2500k CPU
    G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-10666 (1333MHz) DDR3 RAM
Now my computer runs great when i am using 1 stick of ram (either stick) or both sticks single channel (dim 1 & 2) and will easily pass memtest86+, but my computer becomes unstable when in duel channel, crashing and freezing between 1 - 5 times a day in windows and will fail memtest86+ every time.
Now i only know the basics when it comes to ram, but basically I'm wondering what my options are.
    The company i bought the ram from says i can return it for a different brand. will this help? i have to pick something from;
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=186_538_913
I was thinking of getting the kingston value ram 2 x 4 gig 1333mhz.  Will this solve my problem? is there an easier fix to this issue? what do you recommend?
    Kind Regards
    Ben.

The Kingston should work fine. If it doesn't, it may be worth taking a look at the CPU socket for any possible bent pins.

    This mobo supports 2133Mhz
Not quite right. The memory controller is inside the processor, not the mainboard.  According to Intel specifications, the native supported maximum is DDR3-1333.  Everything above that has to be considered overclocking and therefore not necessarely stable.
I am moving this thread to the overclocking section of this forum for further discussion.

Go lower for testing:  try DDR3-1600, DDR3-1866 etc, memory voltage 1.65V, command rate = 2T, play around with the other timings to find out what works and what not.

Downloaded latest IOS 7.0.2 and it crashed my iphone 4. Now Ive got nothing and it wont restore when connected with Itunes cos Error Message 4005 comes up. Cant find it listed anywhere. Help

    Hi!
It looks like there might be some security settings or software on your laptop that's preventing the restore process from working.
Check out this article in Apple's support. It shows you the steps you can take to try to get around error 1611.
Like diesel vdub said, a DFU-mode restore might give you success where a regular restore might not, so maybe you can try that.
What you need to do is put your phone into DFU mode, which is a low-level mode that helps the restore process get a little more done, or it can help iTunes get around certain roadblocks (hopefully like the one you're experiencing!). Your computer will install special DFU-iPhone drivers for it, and then iTunes will see it as a phone that needs restoring.
To get your phone into DFU mode:
Plug your phone into your laptop.
    Turn the phone off.
Press and hold the power/lock button. Keep it held in, even after the display turns on and you see something on the screen. As soon as you see something on the screen, start holding the home button as well as the power button, so that they're being pressed together.
Keep both buttons pressed down for 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds, release the power button, but keep holding home until the laptop sees a new USB device. Once you see that, you're in DFU mode, and you can let go of buttons. Your iPhone screen will be blank during it all, even though it's actually on, in DFU mode.
    Now your restore should work!
If your phone shows the Apple logo or anything else while you're trying to get it into DFU mode, then something went wrong. Try the steps again. If it suddenly starts up normally again, try reducing the time to a bit less than 10 seconds--try reducing it by about a second at a time. It should work!

  • What happens when i get new ram

    what does ram actually do?
i know all about the sizes and stuff like that but what does it do?
when i get new ram will i loose anything on my notebook?

    Steven,
System RAM will allow you to run more programs at once without slowing down. It will allow some more complex programs run more smoothly. The more RAM you have, the less the computer will hit the hard drive.
You will not lose anything on your computer by changing RAM. RAM automatically loses all its contents everytime you start up anyways. Your MacBook stores data on the hard drive-it only stores data in RAM temporarily while you are using your computer.

  • Slow POST [ MSI Z68A-GD55 (B3) ]

The motherboard Z68A-GD55 (B3), with each start, during Power On Self Test about 20-30 seconds detect the USB device (screen code B4 - USB Hot Plug). By disconnecting all external devices was found that such a large delay occurs only because of a web-camera (Logitech C910 HD Pro). All other peripherals - keyboard, mouse, printer - to be detected immediately, B4 code does not appear on the screen.
All devices are connected to the ports USB2.0
This same a web-camera in the other two motherboards with standard AMI BIOS (not EFI) does not cause any problems with the detection of USB devices.
Updating the BIOS from version 22.3 to 22.5 gave no result.
I have to manually disconnect / connect the camera.
Do you plan to fix this error in new versions of BIOS?
    Upd.
POST also runs slowly if at any port plugged USB Flash Disk (manufacturers Samsung, Transcend, Pretec).
Sorry for my english. I am use Google Translate.

Test with another USB port. Test especially with the USB 2.0 port instead of the USB 3.0 port.
I connected the devices to all available usb-port, 2.0 and 3.0, also tried to disable usb 3.0 in bios - the problem remains.
I sent a message to MSI tech support and waiting for their response.

2 weeks ago PC would do nothing at all after I turned off and then tried to restart.  Thought I had bad power supply, but it checked out. Cleared cmos  by removing battery and turned off oc genie and that seemed to cure problem.
Left PC on ever since.  Had to turn off yesterday to check unrelated network issue and when I tried to restart It won't post.   Just get 3 beeps.  No video.  Nothing.  Tried to clear cmos, switch memory sticks, only use one mem stick in slot 1 and I get nothing but 3 beeps.  Very unlikely that both sticks are bad.  Tried powering on from internal switch and got nothing but 3 beeps.  Beeps are less than 1 second in duration so I guess they are short beeps.
    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
If I have to RMA to MSI how long does it take to get replacement?  What do I have to send to MSI, all contents of retail box or just the board?

I am ready to toss this board and buy another unless I can get this working.
At the moment there is know certainty about the definate cause for your problem.  What makes you so sure that the board is the cause (and not your CPU (which hosts the memory controller, after all), faulty RAM sticks (have you tested every single stick of RAM you have in the first slot (check user manual) and cleared CMOS (with A/C power cable unplugged from PSU before each new start-up attempt)?).
A contact problem between CPU Pads and board socket pins could also cause this (please reseat CPU and heatsink).  Another possible cause is a short-circuit problem inside the case (test the board outside the case on a non-conducting surface).

Nop. And voltage was set to 1.33 for a year.

this also could be the source of the issue,
use only matched memory sticks and either 1, 2 or 4 but not 3
right now are in slots 1-3, you say i should try them in 1-2, 1-4 or 2-4? anyway i've already try 512 in slot 1 only, 1gb in slot 1 only, and no ram at all but nothing changed..

i tried to check each RAM, and i don't think that they are broken. because all of them can work if i place 1 or 2 or 3 of them.
only if i use 4 of them simultaneously, either my PC won't boot up or they boot up, run for some time, freeze, and after restart became unable to boot again.
anyone have any idea why? or how to fix it?

  • How to retain chat/iMessage history when syncing with new computer?

For years, I have synced each new iPhone that I’ve purchased with an older MacPro.
Recently, I bought a new iMac to replace the MacPro.
I chose not to use Migration Assistant and have not transferred any of the data from the older MacPro to the newer iMac, primarily because I wanted to completely ignore all the AAC and mp3/mp4 (lossy) music files from the old computer and replace that music on the new iMac with Apple Lossless Encoded files ripped from my CD collection.
Meanwhile, I bought the new iPhone 6. I have never synced this new phone with the new iMac. Instead, I set it up using a backup of my iPhone 5S that was on the older MacPro (or possibly in iCoud—can’t remember). I did this because I want to preserve older texts/iMessages on my iPhone. It’s my impression that that data ‘lives’ in the backups of our phones, so syncing it with a brand new computer would erase it, right?
The problem is, I don't want to use the music files/playlists on the older MacPro. I want to load my iPhone 6 with the newer music files and playlists found in the iTunes folder on my new iMac while still retaining the text/iMessage history from previous backups. Is this possible? If so, how do I make this happen?
I do not use iTunes Match and want nothing to do with it, so that is not an acceptable solution for me.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Message was edited by: peterparkerLA Just added a preposition that was left out of first draft.

When syncing with a new computer, technically, all information on your iPhone 6 will be erased. If you really want to keep the chat history/imessage, call history or even contacts, I suggest you backup your iPhone 6 to iCloud before the sync. After sync your iPhone 6 with your new computer, you can try Dr.Fone for iOS to extract chat history/iMessages, even contacts and notes from the iCloud backup file and save them to your iPhone 6 again.
