MSI Z68a GD65 G3 Buzzing noise of hard drive over speakers
I finished building system
MSI Z68a GD65 G3
Fractal design define r3 case
Core i7 2600k
2x MSI N460GTX 1Gd5 OC
16 gb DDR3 Ram
Corsair HX 850w PSU
CORSAIR GT3 90 gb ssd
Logitech Z5300 speaker set 5.1
+bunch of samsung 1 tb spinpoints
I noticed when i scrolled with my mouse wheel up or down, i hear a interfering noise low buzzing noise over the speakers 5.1 which are conected to on board sound card.
When i connect my headphone the sound still exists
It also occurs when i start up some applications and the hard drive is busy.
I tried enable/disable eup2013 and c1 and intel c1 etc... nothing works
With or without overclock it doesn matter.
Does anybody have a suggestion how to fix this problem? Thank you! Please help;-)
Sounds like a bad earth somewhere.
Is that a wired mouse ? Have you tried another mouse and keyboard ?
Can you test the board outside the case, on a non-conducting surface. No device used for the test to be mounted in the case.

MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) Boot Loop
Hello all,
I purchased a MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) and when I started up it goes into a boot loop. I can't see anything on the screen.
Setup
- Motherboard MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3)
- Intel Core i3 Ivy Bridge 3220 3.30GHz 3MB Cache LGA 1155 55W Dual-Core Processor
- Kingston ValueRAM RAM Module - (2 x 8 GB) - DDR3 SDRAM - 1600 MHz DDR3-1600/PC3-12800 - Non-ECC - Unbuffered - CL11 - 240-pin DIMM
- COOLER MASTER Elite Power 400W OEM 20+4 pin & 4+4 pin ATX 12V V2.31 12cm fan Eco-friendly Reliability Quiet Noise Filter 70% efficiency
BIOS stated in the green labels below the "MSI" Heatsink is: E7681 IMSN10.
I tried another PSU and had the same issue.
Anybody can help me? Thank you very much for your time!Your mainboard does not support an Ivy Bridge processor with the current bios that's why it doesn't come up. It needs a P series bios (7681vP1 and above).
There is no other way than to use any Sandy Bridge cpu to flash bios to the latest to make your cpu work: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z68A-GD65--G3-.html#/?div=BIOS
For flashing >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
If you can't get a hand at a Sandy you need to let any PC shop or MSI do it for you (that's not for free of course). >>How to contact MSI.<< -

If the previous BIOS worked for you, then flash back to that BIOS. Use the forum flasher >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Once you have flashed the BIOS do a CMOS clear. >>Clear CMOS Guide<< -
Hi,
My System spec as below :-

I'am mainly using for video conversion/editing purpose. Gaming not much.....
Looking forward to hear from you soon

around 77 to 79 celcius.
That is what you need to expect with a stock cooling. Around 80°C are not in the real critical temperature range (red range: probably 85-95°C). The CPU has its own thermal management and will shut down itself automatically as soon as it reaches its thermal shutdown point (95-105°C). As soon as the core temperatures get close to the shutdown point, the CPU will automatically clock itself down and lower the Core Voltage. In case that is not enough to cool itself down, it will shut off.
So basically, you will know when the temperatures get critical as soon as the CPU decides to clock itself down under full load.
However, allowing to run the CPU @80°C on a regular basis, is probably not something you want to do. Please consider a cooling solution more appropiate to your overclocking ambitions. -
MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) videocard running @ 8x instead of 16x
MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) bios v23.4b4
Videocard MSI GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition 3072MB 290.36 beta drivers tryed other ones as well still the same.
Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card this is pcie and is in the other blue videocard slot could this be the reason why my card is not running at 16xOk what ive done now is fit my videocard in the second blue 16x slot and put my soundcard in the pcie 3 and it still says its running at 8x will remove the soundcard and report back.
Edit:videocard is back in pcie2 running 16x but now i cant fit the soundcard in pcie1 cpu heatsink gets in the way,pcie3 is covered by the videocard as it takes up 2 slots amd pci34 the videocards fans come into contact when the soundcard is installed there.
After spending £140 on a pcie soundcard i would need to get a pci one and thats not going to happen so ill have to run @8x
Panic over all running ok now installed the soundcard in pcie3 and moved the bracket over just enough to miss the fans on the videocard. -
MSI Z68A-GD65 won't start to bios!
gratz from Finland guys.
I have problem, heres my pack:
MSI z68a-gd65
i5 3450
hyperx predator 8gb 2x4gb rams
asus gtx660 pci-e 2gb
2tb seagate
650w corsair
and the problem, i installed up the components today and got it working first without detecting SATA 2tb seagate. Then i switched to all sata ports and the last one 8 and 7 worked fine for seagate and Asus DVD. But now the problem is that it lets me in marvell bios when it shows up the harddisk and dvd, but not in the "primary bios". When it shows the first data, harddisk and dvd, it goes straight to "Warning BIOS ME file not found install on the usb" etc... I dont know what to do because i read all the forums in the internet, wasted 6 hours in investigating internet and found nothing. Have tried the flash utilitys, USB flasher utility found in forums and all... Reseting BIOS didnt help.
Please help, im getting drunk every hour more with this cra*Sdrastvui Svet, jeshli s toboj realno 4eres skaip pogovorit, skin poshalushta svoj nick tam.
As i know, the board was in the warranty fix, and became back to shop, where i buyed it. But the shop gave everyone who would buy the board, 6months warranty so i dont think it would be broken.
Also for the flashing, i dont have OS on that system, what we are talking about. And if i download those BIOS from the MSI site, its only EXE? I cant run exe from USB flash when starting PC? -
Attempting to upgarde itunes and I get an error message looking for "an alternate path to a folder containing 'iTunes.msi' location. I've searched my hard drive and the file doesn't exist. What to do?
This worked...found on a prior discussion:
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page)...
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
From the link above (near the top of the page)....Under 'download locations' click on 'download@majorgeeks'
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you just downloaded and ran.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Restart your computer.
Re-download Itunes (latest version form Itunes website) and install. It worked! -
Hello, is it possible to share an external hard drive over a network when I have my Airport Extreme in bridge mode? I can't use my AE as my main router at the moment but still want to be able to use the hard drive on the network, and the router I am using isn't capable of adding an external hard drive. I use Windows 7 and the other router is a Netgear. I have searched the communities and have not come across an answer to this question. I have tried several configurations within windows to try and see the hard drive but none have worked. I can see the hard drive when I run Airport utlities, but it cannot be seen on the network. Thanks to anyone who can help!
I think there is some confusion in this thread..
If you are sharing on a local LAN port forwarding is not required.
is it possible to share an external hard drive over a network when I have my Airport Extreme in bridge mode?
Answer is yes.. no port forwarding, mapping whatever term is used.. is needed. Port mapping is required when you cross over a NAT router.. as long as all the devices are inside a single LAN.. then no port mapping.
I assign to my Airport Extreme, do I do so with the settings of:
Service: SMB
Type: TCP
Server IP: xx.x.x.x
Port Start: 445
Port End: 445
This would not work even from WAN.. SMB is blocked by all responsible ISP.. there is simply too many unprotected windows machines out there. If they allowed SMB .. the world would be flooded with hijacked bots. And stolen data like bank accounts. SMB is not a secure protocol.
But this is not necessary on a LAN.
The problem can be Mavericks which does a terrible job presenting network drives.. The usual recommendations are to use AFP or force the connection to CIFS (ie SMB1 not 2).
If you use airport,, then use AFP.
In finder.. Go, Connect to server.
AFP://AEname or AEIPaddress. (replace with the network name of the AE or its actual IP address).
When asked for password.. type public if you did not change it or use whatever password you put.
Store the password in the keychain. -
Can I share my external hard drive over the Airport Extreme via the internet to someone in a different city?
Yes. Please see the following AirPort User Tip for details on several methods to do so.

I had a repair done at the apple store where the replaced my hard drive and copied my other hard drive over to the new one. Everything is fine except the time machine wont reconnect to my old file and is trying create a new file but not there is not enough space for both files files? Do I need to do something to have it continue to update my old file instead of recreating a new one?
Depending on what version of OSX you're running, and how the data was transferred, you may be out of luck.
If you're running Lion, and your backups were made to a directly-connected external HD (ie, not a Time Capsule or other network location), you may be able to get Time Machine to "associate" the new disk with the old backups. See #B6 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting, especially the pink box there.
If you're running Snow Leopard, you might be able to do a full system restore of your backups to the new HD. See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #14 for detailed instructions. That should leave a "trail" that Time Machine can follow to "associate" the new drive with the old backups. Unfortunately, that doesn't always work, and there's no way to do it manually, as there is with Lion. -

Could you clarify this a little? You mean the BIOS LED stays full off, or it is on steady? -
MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) 99.8MHz bug, temporary fix to make it 100MHz
With the current available official and beta bios, when disabling spread spectrum, the bus speed does not increase from 99.8MHz to 100MHz, I have messaged MSI support again to look into this with the current 23.4B4 Beta Bios.
Anyway I have found a fix for this, download the latest Control Center v2.2.0036 off the MSI website.
If your CPU Base Frequency is at default in bios 10000 you will see 98.8MHz on CPU-Z so in Control Center change the Base Clock (MHz) to 100.2 MHz and click save.
If your CPU Base Frequency is at 10010 you will see 100.2MHz on CPU-Z so in Control Center change the Base Clock (MHz) to 100MHz and click save.
Either way when you reboot it will always show 100MHz.Quote from: Nelly. on 06-November-11, 07:41:53

Thanks for posting this, and creating the thread, Nelly
I just use the 10010 bclk bios setting, but that band-aid solution doesn't net an even 100.0MHz.
My earlier attempts at contacting support about the 98.8 issue just get the generic "disable spread spectrum" reply. Some of the earlier bios for my previous MSI P67-G43 board gave me the correct 100MHz bus speed for that board, but it also changed to 98.8 with the later bios releases.
But even the "first" "00" bios for the Z68A-GD65 G3 has the 98.8 flaw, as does every single bios that MSI has issued for this board, beta or otherwise, since.

Granted you might get away with it. But the next person that reads this & uses that for everyday may not be so lucky. If games, applications, programs, & whatever else can't be done on what 1.400v's can provide for a decent performance level, the rest is just for show. That 'is not' a low low voltage for a 4.8. One of the test rigs here & a 2600k will do 4.8 on only 1.392v's with 4 cores & 8 threads & never miss a beat. If really serious about everyday maximum performance on 'real' low low voltage, get a 2700k!
Rather impressive voltage for 4.9 with that 2700K
It takes 1.390v. in the bios for my 2500K to do a 12hr. P95 run with no errors, at a much lower 4.6GHz. -
MSI Z68A-GD65(G3) What to install from "Drivers Section"
Ok so having just reinstalled Windows on my PC I am wondering what exacetly I should install from the Driver list for my board on MSI's website (so for me this is http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/Z68A-GD65--G3-.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2032)
I mean I know the obvious ones, chipset and graphics Drivers from Nvidia, and the USB 3.0, but what of the rest of the driver links on that page do I actually need to install?
(Sorry if this isnt in the right place)
Thanks
GeorgeThanks for the reply mate, installed Marvel, ethernet and Intel Management, unable to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (when running iata_enu.exe) drivers, says "your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements"
Thanks

MSI Z68A-GD65 (B3) - Start-up issue.
Hey there! I just got a new processor, motherboard, case, and power supply for my birthday. Here are my specs:
Z68A-GD65 B3 Mobo
12GB Ram
i5-3570k processor 1155
2TB HDD
Optical Drive
650W Powersupply
I just put it all together, and what do you know, a problem...
I press the power button, and all the sudden it turns on. Then after 3-4 seconds, it turns off. Then after 2 seconds, turns back on again, then 3-4 seconds back off, then on again, you get the point. Its as if the POWER button is always pushed in. Yet, i have since then unplugged the case, tried it a million times, and NOTHING seems to work. Maybe its the power button malfunctioning on the MOBO...?
I need some help! Feel free to ask any questions. I will be on constantly to check this.
Thanks ,
Josh ...That board is end of Lifetime for a long time. If you bought it now it was resting in the shop for quite a while. No B3 board comes with Ivy Bridge support out of the box. You need a Sandy Bridge cpu to flash it or let it be flashed by a shop or MSI. Else this will not work. It can't boot with an i5-3570k right now.
