MSI Z68A-GD65 won't start to bios!

gratz from Finland guys.
I have problem, heres my pack:
MSI z68a-gd65
i5 3450
hyperx predator 8gb 2x4gb rams
asus gtx660 pci-e 2gb
2tb seagate
650w corsair
and the problem, i installed up the components today and got it working first without detecting SATA 2tb seagate. Then i switched to all sata ports and the last one 8 and 7 worked fine for seagate and Asus DVD. But now the problem is that it lets me in marvell bios when it shows up the harddisk and dvd, but not in the "primary bios". When it shows the first data, harddisk and dvd, it goes straight to "Warning BIOS ME file not found install on the usb" etc... I dont know what to do because i read all the forums in the internet, wasted 6 hours in investigating internet and found nothing. Have tried the flash utilitys, USB flasher utility found in forums and all... Reseting BIOS didnt help.
Please help, im getting drunk every hour more with this cra*

Sdrastvui Svet, jeshli s toboj realno 4eres skaip pogovorit, skin poshalushta svoj nick tam.
As i know, the board was in the warranty fix, and became back to shop, where i buyed it. But the shop gave everyone who would buy the board, 6months warranty so i dont think it would be broken.
Also for the flashing, i dont have OS on that system, what we are talking about. And if i download those BIOS from the MSI site, its only EXE? I cant run exe from USB flash when starting PC?

  • MSI Z97-GD65 won't start

    Hello,
so I bought Z97-GD65 motherboard, installed all components and when I try to turn it on, it does not start. Only the light on the motherboard's power button is blinking and nothing happens, no fan spins, no additional light come on. Tried with different PSU, replacing RAM, disconnecting other components and nothing helps.
    So is my motherboard dead?
P.S. one stange thing, the BIOS battery was dead, checked with voltmeter, replaced with other, didn't help.

Did you try to boot outside of the case?
    Sorry about that.
Haven't tried that, doing it now.

  • My 2nd MSI Z77A-GD65 won't start

    Hi,
this is my 2nd motherboard with the same symptom.
as you can see in the video, the motherboard starts for less than a second and stops.
*please note* the ticking sound is the relay sound which start another PSU.
The first mother i had used for about a week and after that it didn't work. I sent to supplier and wait about 4 weeks and got this one.
After got the new one, I updated the firmware as it didn't recognise my display card. (same procedure as the 1st mobo).
After it successfully updated. it doesn't start.
Could you please advice what was going on?  How 2 'military class labelled' motherboards fail the same ?
    CPU intel i5
    Memory : G-Skill
    PSU : Seasonic 80+

How is it supposed to initiate if the 8-pin ATX/EPS power isn't connected?
as I mentioned, this was working before the failure happened. I disconnected the display adapter and that PSU pin to see if anything might work.
The motherboard's still not working as you can see in the video.

  • Z68A-GD65 (G3) Memory problems after BIOS update

Good day, i'm russian, so sorry for my english.
Friend of mine had MSi Z68A-GD65 (G3), i5-2500K, memory pair 2*2GB with bios 22.8 (latest version with no red letters about ME8 and IvyBridge).
He decided to upgrade the processor to IvyBrydge and updated bios with new ME8. Then the computer went into a state of continue restarting every 3 seconds. After replacing the CPU to the new Ivy - computer works good, the impression is that the computer does not understand Sandy now and switched toIvy. But it has seen only one of memory pair. My friend just bought a new motherboard. Now he has no problems. I took his MB and SandyBridge CPU.
Flashing the bios to the old version by M-Flash - it does not see the BIOS file, although it is there (in the root, FAT, 2G). Flashed it under dos with AFUDE238 with a key -x, it said about mismatched ROM ID. After the old BIOS flashing (with an Ivy) computer went three-second reset mode. CPU changed to Sandy i5-2500K - now works good. By the way, now M-Flash see the firmware on a flash drive - I flashed it again from the M-Flash, just in case, reset the settings.
What is the problem: if I set the memory into the slot 3 or 4, the computer goes into a three-second reboot, it does not matter is the memory in the first two slots or no. If this memory is inserted in the first two slots - all ok. So I work now - in the first two slots with no dual-channel mode.
The feeling is that the problem appeared after first flashing to Ivy and remained after flashing back to Sandy.
Question 1: What to do to get working the memory slots?
Question 2: Is BIOS 22.8 - the latest which I will have with Sandy? (There is a problem now when the computer starts - 1 times out of 10 will not boot - reset is helping, and the BIOS at starting not very fast).
There are posts about people with the same MB and the CPU and the new BIOS (25.2) that supports Ivy. I'm confused. It means I can use the new firmware from SandyBridge. But there are many posts about problems with new firmware. Where is the true?
Just checked BIOS version -  P.1 (25.1) 2012-04-16 - by the way with Ivy support. But I flashed with 22.8, I'm sure. ME version in BIOS isn't shown, but while booting - ME 7.0
What does it mean? Can it be repaired? What should I do?

Thanks to all. My system is working fine now.
What it was. I flashed BIOS with tool from this forum. Bios flashed good, but problem still was here. Then I flashed to the first bios version from support site. And again flashed ok but memory still not working in slots 3 and 4. Then I decided to flash back to last flash with Sandy support 22.8 (or 23.8). Then I flashed to the last bios at all - 25.4. Flashed it from dos - this was pretty long. It rebooted 3 times (ME updated too). I still don't know  - what it was with first flashing to Ivy. Now it's ok.
So I decided the problem is bent pin. With magniglass and needle I've found some uncertain pins (these were not BENT, but slightly bent) and touched these with my needle. And that was the answer. Now all works fine. Thank you all.
On the russian msi forum no one answered and helped me at all.

  • MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) Boot Loop

    Hello all,
I purchased a MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) and when I started up it goes into a boot loop. I can't see anything on the screen.
    Setup
    - Motherboard MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3)
    - Intel Core i3 Ivy Bridge 3220 3.30GHz 3MB Cache LGA 1155 55W Dual-Core Processor
    - Kingston ValueRAM RAM Module - (2 x 8 GB) - DDR3 SDRAM - 1600 MHz DDR3-1600/PC3-12800 - Non-ECC - Unbuffered - CL11 - 240-pin DIMM
    - COOLER MASTER Elite Power 400W OEM 20+4 pin & 4+4 pin ATX 12V V2.31 12cm fan Eco-friendly Reliability Quiet Noise Filter 70% efficiency
BIOS stated in the green labels below the "MSI" Heatsink is: E7681 IMSN10.
I tried another PSU and had the same issue.
Anybody can help me? Thank you very much for your time!

Your mainboard does not support an Ivy Bridge processor with the current bios that's why it doesn't come up. It needs a P series bios (7681vP1 and above).
There is no other way than to use any Sandy Bridge cpu to flash bios to the latest to make your cpu work: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z68A-GD65--G3-.html#/?div=BIOS
For flashing >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
If you can't get a hand at a Sandy you need to let any PC shop or MSI do it for you (that's not for free of course). >>How to contact MSI.<<

It's something from MSI's driver CD/DVD that you have installed.

If the system was working, why did you update the BIOS ?
If the previous BIOS worked for you, then flash back to that BIOS. Use the forum flasher >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Once you have flashed the BIOS do a CMOS clear. >>Clear CMOS Guide<<

With or without overclock it doesn matter.
Does anybody have a suggestion how to fix this problem? Thank you! Please help;-)

Sounds like a bad earth somewhere.
Is that a wired mouse ? Have you tried another mouse and keyboard ?
Can you test the board outside the case, on a non-conducting surface. No device used for the test to be mounted in the case.

Since i'am using the cooling fan provided by intel original, would you advisable to overclok or must get better cooling fan or not?
I'am mainly using for video conversion/editing  purpose. Gaming not much.....

    Quote
    around 77 to 79 celcius.
That is what you need to expect with a stock cooling. Around 80°C are not in the real critical temperature range (red range: probably 85-95°C).  The CPU has its own thermal management and will shut down itself automatically as soon as it reaches its thermal shutdown point (95-105°C).  As soon as the core temperatures get close to the shutdown point, the CPU will automatically clock itself down and lower the Core Voltage. In case that is not enough to cool itself down, it will shut off.
So basically, you will know when the temperatures get critical as soon as the CPU decides to clock itself down under full load.
However, allowing to run the CPU @80°C on a regular basis, is probably not something you want to do.  Please consider a cooling solution more appropiate to your overclocking ambitions.

  • MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) videocard running @ 8x instead of 16x

Videocard MSI GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition 3072MB 290.36 beta drivers tryed other ones as well still the same.
Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card this is pcie and is in the other blue videocard slot could this be the reason why my card is not running at 16x

Ok what ive done now is fit my videocard in the second blue 16x slot and put my soundcard in the pcie 3 and it still says its running at 8x will remove the soundcard and report back.
Edit:videocard is back in pcie2 running 16x but now i cant fit the soundcard in pcie1 cpu heatsink gets in the way,pcie3 is covered by the videocard as it takes up 2 slots amd pci34 the videocards fans come into contact when the soundcard is installed there.
After spending £140 on a pcie soundcard i would need to get a pci one and thats not going to happen so ill have to run @8x
Panic over all running ok now installed the soundcard in pcie3 and moved the bracket over just enough to miss the fans on the videocard.

  • Flashing of MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING failed and dual bios not helping, not sure why?

    Hi all
For the first time in 20 years Ive had a firmware flash fail it seems.
I have a MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING and updated the bios with the latest firmware via the "M-FLASH" utility within the systems bios.
All seemed to have gone well, it flashed to 100% rebooted and then just a blank screen and a sequence of keyboard light flashes.
After a minutes panic I thought not to worry, the motherboard has a dual bios.   So I powered down and switched the bios switch to bios B hoping it would assist and the problem is identical.
    Any tips anyone?

I just tried this along with removing power from the main board and it seems one of the two did it!   thanks

  • MSI Z68A-GD65 (B3) - Start-up issue.

Hey there!  I just got a new processor, motherboard, case, and power supply for my birthday.  Here are my specs:
    Z68A-GD65   B3  Mobo
    12GB Ram
    i5-3570k processor 1155
    2TB HDD
    Optical Drive
    650W Powersupply
I just put it all together, and what do you know, a problem...
I press the power button, and all the sudden it turns on.  Then after 3-4 seconds, it turns off.  Then after 2 seconds, turns back on again, then 3-4 seconds back off, then on again, you get the point.  Its as if the POWER button is always pushed in.  Yet, i have since then unplugged the case, tried it a million times, and NOTHING seems to work.  Maybe its the power button malfunctioning on the MOBO...?
I need some help!  Feel free to ask any questions.  I will be on constantly to check this.
    Thanks ,
    Josh ...

That board is end of Lifetime for a long time. If you bought it now it was resting in the shop for quite a while. No B3 board comes with Ivy Bridge support out of the box. You need a Sandy Bridge cpu to flash it or let it be flashed by a shop or MSI. Else this will not work. It can't boot with an i5-3570k right now.

  • MSI P67 GD65 Boot Beep change after bios flash 1H & 1I

    Good evening.
First of all my pc specs:
    - Msi P67 GD65 B3 Revision
    - i5 2500K
    - 2 * 4 gb DDR 3 G.Skill Ripjaws XF3 1600 mhz
    - Sapphire HD 4870
    - Ocz Vertex II 60 Gb (windows 7)
    - Western Digital Blue Caviar 1 tb (storage)
Today I flashed the bios using a bootable pen drive.
Previously I had the 1.9 version and all went perfectly fine. The booting sequence was : 1 short beep, short beeps counting my usb devices and 1 final short high tonality beep.
Now I updated to version 1.I and the beep sequence changed completely: now I have 1 long low tonality beep, short beeps counting my usb devices and no final short high tonality beep . Also it takes some more seconds than version 1.9 before making the beeps!
I tried also versione 1.H (which I have in this very moment) and I experienced the same faulty beep sequence
I also tried to clear c-mos and load optimized defaults but I still have the same beep sequence in both cases.
    What shall I do?
Please notice I never changed memory or cpu settings (no overclock at all)

    Quote
They say do not care about the beeps if the PC could work normally.
Same thing I already told you...
Forgot about those stupid beeps.  As long as the system starts & boots fine, they are not critical error signals to begin with but status signs, that tell you that some things are there.
    Quote
What do they mean by "the new bios should fix some beep error" ? Which bios are the talking about? Maybe the upcoming 1 L version which is going to be released in future?
What they are telling you is that the beep sequence is not something to worry about. That the beeps "lie" so to speak and that you are looking for a meaning that is not there.
    Quote
What beep sequence do you have with 1.C version compared to the two videos I posted ?
It does not matter.  You are getting hung up on beeps even though the system is obviously running just fine.  If the beeps are getting on your nerves, then unplug the speaker from the board and enjoy the silence.
This is a non-issue.  Stop being paranoid.

Double check the PSU 8-pin CPU power and the mainboard 24-pin power cords are secure to the board.
