MSI Z77-GD65 - 0.00 GHz in BIOS - boot looping

Hello, I have motherboard MSI Z77-GD65, CPU i5 3570K, 12GB KIT Corsair Venegeance.
1. I turned on PC by poweron button, PC starting 1-2 seconds, than power off and after again it power on and normaly starting to Windows 7 x64. This happens with every start PC.
2. In BIOS show Current CPU Frequency 0.00 GHz (34 x 0 MHz). In Control Center iis also 0.00 GHz and 0 MHz BCLK. Why? What is problem?

Have you tested with just RAM stick in the primary DIMM slot? Tested each stick individually?
I tested each stick individually. Each in DIMM 1.

Double check the PSU 8-pin CPU power and the mainboard 24-pin power cords are secure to the board.
I checked, Its Ok.

  • Flashing of MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING failed and dual bios not helping, not sure why?

    Hi all
For the first time in 20 years Ive had a firmware flash fail it seems.
I have a MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING and updated the bios with the latest firmware via the "M-FLASH" utility within the systems bios.
All seemed to have gone well, it flashed to 100% rebooted and then just a blank screen and a sequence of keyboard light flashes.
After a minutes panic I thought not to worry, the motherboard has a dual bios.   So I powered down and switched the bios switch to bios B hoping it would assist and the problem is identical.
    Any tips anyone?

I just tried this along with removing power from the main board and it seems one of the two did it!   thanks

  • Msi p67a gd65 with p67a gd80 beta bios

    hi to everyone here,
    i have purchased a pc and have a msi p67a gd65 mobo
i noticed that on the actual mobo it clearly states its a p67a gd65 i have verified this , its defnately a gd65
    how ever, cpu z detects it as a p67a gd80, also command centre detects a p67a gd80, bios version is : P67A GD80 10.3b2
so my mobo has a gd80 beta bios...
i do not know how it came about as im not owner from new
question 1 : all i need help with is flashing back to gd65 bios (bios  1.19 ]  , do i need to do a blind flash to force update ? and how do i do it ? because its gd65 not gd80
question 2 : and also how do i check if both bios chips were flashed to this beta bios ?
question 3 : do i flash both bios chips when i do the bios flash ?
question 4 : how do i switch between the 2 bios chips ?
sorry for all the questions, the main question is question 1
    thnx guys

In my experience, for a 2700k, UEFI/BIOS v1.H proved to be the very best one.
I would go ahead and use what P D says there, he did a lot of testing on his many builds the past few years and knows more about it that most other people.
What I had in my last reply was just the basic required info you needed to answer question about 2700K support after going through 1/2 dozen lists needed to find my info.

  • MSI Z68A-GD65 won't start to bios!

    gratz from Finland guys.
I have problem, heres my pack:
    MSI z68a-gd65
    i5 3450
    hyperx predator 8gb 2x4gb rams
    asus gtx660 pci-e 2gb
    2tb seagate
    650w corsair
and the problem, i installed up the components today and got it working first without detecting SATA 2tb seagate. Then i switched to all sata ports and the last one 8 and 7 worked fine for seagate and Asus DVD. But now the problem is that it lets me in marvell bios when it shows up the harddisk and dvd, but not in the "primary bios". When it shows the first data, harddisk and dvd, it goes straight to "Warning BIOS ME file not found install on the usb" etc... I dont know what to do because i read all the forums in the internet, wasted 6 hours in investigating internet and found nothing. Have tried the flash utilitys, USB flasher utility found in forums and all... Reseting BIOS didnt help.
Please help, im getting drunk every hour more with this cra*

Sdrastvui Svet, jeshli s toboj realno 4eres skaip pogovorit, skin poshalushta svoj nick tam.
As i know, the board was in the warranty fix, and became back to shop, where i buyed it. But the shop gave everyone who would buy the board, 6months warranty so i dont think it would be broken.
Also for the flashing, i dont have OS on that system, what we are talking about. And if i download those BIOS from the MSI site, its only EXE? I cant run exe from USB flash when starting PC?

  • HELP! My 2011 MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) build suddenly refuses to boot

Hello, I am new to this forum because I hadn't had any troubles yet.
I built my system in July/August 2011. Here's what it has:
    MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge CPU
    16GB Corsair Vengeance 240-pin DDR3 1600
    650w Corsair Enthusiast PSU
MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GD5/OC GeForce Graphics Card
    1x 2TB Hitachi 7K3000 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (With Windows 7 64-bit installed)
    2x 3TB Seagate 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (For storage)
I have used this computer for graphics and video editing...it has served me faithfully. Yesterday evening while editing a Word document, I got "do you want to save your changes before exiting?" and of course I said yes. Then to my surprise my computer proceeded to shut down and reboot. At first I thought maybe I missed a Windows Update message telling me it would reboot in xxx minutes so I was not alarmed. But then as I watched it reboot, it gave me the POST message that there was no disc drive recognized. I thought that was weird since I never noticed it before. But then after the BIOS screen with the MSI graphics thing I was faced with a blank screen except for a flashing cursor two inches from the top of the screen. When I realized that this wasn't going to leave, I got a bit worried so I did a reset through my tower's button and same thing happened...I unplugged everything and let it sit for a few minutes... restarted 10 minutes later....same thing. Did it again and then went into my BIOS to look around. It showed no HDD's connected and I had 3 hooked up. I was concerned my HDD went bad so I connected it to another pc and accessed it with no trouble as another storage...I was happy my files are all there. So then I reconnected to my original build and got the same POST message, but this time the drives were visible in BIOS....but still no boot.
I have another blank SATA HDD so I removed all my HDD's and connected it by itself along with my SATA DVD drive and I tried to do a clean Win7 install on it. But at the point in the install process where it asks WHERE you want to install Windows, no drives showed up. So that door was closed. I tried the same thing again after swapping SATA port locations, thinking 1 was defective, but I got the same treatment from all of them...nothing recognized during the install process, although the drives are showing up in BIOS....
I think I know why the POST message is saying 'no drives detected,' though...I read it is saying that based on the SATA ports being used...I have 8 SATA's on my MOBO...4 6gb/s; 4 3gb/s. 7-8 are 6gb/s and ONLY when I have a HDD plugged into one of them does it show on the POST screen...which I still think is weird, and seems to have just started happening last night with the rest of the problems...but I could live with that since I could disable the message in BIOS I think.
But I have tried to clear the CMOS...all three ways...jumper, button, battery. I reset BIOS thru BIOS.... Nothing changes. BTW, in BIOS I ran a RAM memory check and it passed. Besides, I am not hearing any weird beeps...related to that....
I don't know why this would happen after working perfectly for 2 years... And why would it politely shut down in the beginning of the process anyways? I mean...I appreciated being asked to save my changes...but I don't know what else to do...PLEASE OFFER SUGGESTIONS...any help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance...I hope someone can help me! I am still covered by warranty...but I want to do this right.
    Thanks!
    Marie
EDIT: BTW, I have also tried unplugging everything from the pc except for the DVI and power plug in case that was interferring....

It mostly works if the components used aren't too special. As you have no RAID setup it should work. However you will need to reactivate Windows once it made it. Of course you will also need all drivers for the new machine. Be aware that you might not be able to connect to the internet before you installed the proper driver for the ethernet adapter.

  • MSI-Z77-GD65 w/ HD4000

I am having great sucess w/ my second GD65, and this is the 1U Audio Workstation, which is mostly due to having no Video card, as I am into power/portability.
But I just got a new 8U Rack Mounted LCD Monitor and the stock colors are fine but the angle of view is awful.
I remember being able to tweak the colors and even partail angling of the HD4000, but I can't find it in WIndows 7 Pro x64.
Is it possible this is in the BIOS hidden somewhere?
I have tried every possible avenue and as usual when I really get stuck, I come here.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    JAV

Are you saying that you used to be able to adjust these settings previously via the Intel Graphics Control Panel and that you are now unable to access this dialog ?
Which BIOS version do you have on this board and which BIOS version do you have on the previous board ?
Perhaps the LCD monitor just has a a very limited angle of view ?

First af all thanks to Svet fo his CL_CMOS idea. It HELPED!!!
Yes! Yestarday SLI turned on and I have 6 hours of clear and pure gameplay!!!
Thanks man! I fight with my comp for whole week!!!
But with light detail: (301.10 video driver) in NVIDIA Control Panel radio button (Maximum Perfomance 3D - SLI) WAS TURNED OFF, but lower I could's see "SLI ON" and all went pretty well.
For 6 hours I didn't reboot, just got pleasure.
Then I rebooted and all became the same (black screen, unstable , etc.)
Today I read thaeon's answer about new video drivers and installed them with one memory stick in dimm1.
    AND ALL WORKED!!!
    Added second memory stick and...
    YES - IT's WORKING!!!
Thank you all! For helping me to resolve this problem.
I am situated 4000 km from nearest MSI certified center and shop, where I bought all equipment.
So for me it was crucial to solve it not to change equipment.
    P.S.:
It's stable now, but I have one job to do - Install my ASUS XONAR Essense STX.
I hope all will be fine.

It works when I put back my old card, an MSI 560ti. I had to switch to my old card to flash the BIOS because I only get a blank screen or no signal when I use the new 770GTX.
We have the same configuration but the BIOS settings. He has 10.6 and I have 10.11

    Hello,
I have two kits of memory:
    2x2Gb 1600 cl7 1.65v (that runs at 1.5v with same latencies 7-8-7-24)
    2x4Gb 1600 cl9 1.5v  (9-9-9-24)
Both kits are Gskill Ripjaws, I have already tried lots of things without any success so far, (relax timings to high values, increase voltage, tried link/unlink, swapped kits from black to blue), I cannot boot with RAM set to 9-9-9-24 (whether 1 or 2T) and 1600Mhz, the only way is to disable XMP and let memory speed to auto.
And so memory is recognized and runs in Windows at around 1310Mhz~1315Mhz with timings 7-7-7-20 (values chosen by me since I cannot use higher speeds).
In case I set memory speed to manual, whether its 1333Mhz or other values I get three long bips and I am unable to boot.
    CPU Core i7 2600K
MSI P67-GD65 (B3) using latest official bios (1.E)
    Actual position of the memory:

And the fact that they are the troublesome Ripjaws to begin with. Mixing one type of troublesome Ripjaws with another type of troublesome Ripjaws and you end up with double trouble.
I see, despite of the fact Ripjaws are mentioned as compatible, I should avoid them as they mean trouble.

  • OC on my 3770k [Z77-GD65]

Ok so i wanted to get more than 4.5ghz from my CPU (using Z77-GD65 mobo, and 10.10 BIOS).
    Settings
     multiplier 47
all power savings disabled (c-states, C1E, EIST,  turbo boost, Overspeed protection)
    vcore: 1.25(tried 1.27 as well)
    digital compensation level: high
    vdroop: auto
    internal pll overvoltage enabled
As soon as i reboot into windows, i get WHEA errors from the start, in event viewer, and prime95 crashes in 2 seconds !
    Must ask !!
What's CPU OCP expander, and CPU I/O voltage ?
I've set OCP expander to Enhanced, and I/O voltage to 1.11v
    its that ok ?
I mean how to play with I/O voltage ? Leave it default at 1.05 or mess with it ?

Hello Calin long time no see you in here and OCN ^_^
Btw I see your signature with 3770K @4.5GHz that needs 1.22volt, is it stable? If so I think for 4.6GHz you might need 1.27volt and then 4.7GHz perhaps you need 1.32volt. I usually used +0.05volt between clock to another clock.
You may try first at 1.30volt for 4.7GHz and test it with Cinebench R15, Hyperpi32MB, 3Dmark 2011.
For CPU I/O just leave it Auto if you use stock RAM speed (1333 - 1600MHz) and if you OC your RAM it will needs add volt, like 1866MHz or 2133MHz needs 1.100 - 1.150volt. Sometimes 2133MHz needs 1.20 - 1.25volt.

  • MSI P55 GD65 Booting issue [SOLVED]

    Hello everyone!
I finished a new build two days ago:
    Intel i5-750, 2.66GHz
MSI P55-GD65, rev. 1.0, BIOS 1.3, Lotes socket
    A-DATA 2x2GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL8 Vitesta Extreme Edition
    GIGABYTE ATi R5850 1GB
    KINGSTON V-series SSD 64GB SATA
    SAMSUNG SpinPoint F3 500GB SATA 7200rpm
Artic Cooling Fusion 550, 550W, dc outputs are mentioned below
and some minor components (optical drives, wifi card etc.)
I started the computer and everything seemed fine. I managed to enter the bios. I was checking H/W monitor and several other options, I didn't change anything. Suddenly (after circa 5mins) the computer shut down and started to turning on and off repeatedly. I stopped the loop by turning off the power supply. I started it again, however it got stuck in the loop imediately. After a while I managed to access the bios again, meanwhile I was trying to find some answers on internet.
I decided to remove all memory sticks (as a lot of topics here in forum which are describing the very same problem sign RAM problem) and started computer. I expected beeps and LED-show. However, the computer didn't start at all! Even fans were not spinning, just nothing (although PSU was giving tension). I put RAM back and computer started. It was like black magic. I tried again, remove RAM - no start, put RAM back - no start too. Mobo went definitely dead. So I RMAed it.
I've obtained a new one, which was:
MSI P55-GD65, rev. 1.0, BIOS 1.2, Foxconn socket
I put all the stuff together and started computer. Everything went fine, I managed to enter the bios. Nevertheless, I decided to check RAMs for sure; I changed booting devices, restarted and booted system rescue cd with some utils. I started memcheck basic test. The basic test was fine with no errors, then I started filling with random pattern test. It ran for almost 24h. I wanted to try another exercise test and... computer shut down and the loop was there once AGAIN!
I don't think the mobo is the issue here anymore. I bet on two things: PSU or RAM (I'm not going to think about CPU!)
I don't recall exact dc ouputs but: AC Fusion has 2 12V rails with 17A each. Mobo needs 18A, but as I understand it, I have to check 2 rails combined against the requirement - 34A > 18A, it's okay, isn't it? I've choosen this one as I wanted silent PSU (it performed really good in tests, f.e.: http://www.anandtech.com/casecoolingpsus/showdoc.aspx?i=3516). I don't have any other similar PSU to swap (neither my friends).
My suspicion is the problem is RAM incompatibility. My RAMs (AD31600E002GU2K) have 1.65-1.8V working voltage. Maybe the mobo sets auto settings badly (I'm not present at my computer now, I left for the weekend); they are not in QVL too (http://eu.msi.com/uploads/test_report/TR10_1846.pdf). The problem is I was not able to get into bios before I left. As I read on the internet, P55 is pretty touchy when it comes to RAM. I'm thinking about swapping them for Kingston 2x2GB 1333MHz DDR3 CL7 (http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KHX1333C7D3K2_4GX.pdf; which are not in QVL either, but KHX1333C8D3K2_4GX are; only latency difference).
Any advices on the whole problem?
P.S.: I've tried CMOS clear on the former one too, no change. As I mention I went through the most of the gd65 booting issues posts here on MSI forum and several others.

Do you think Corsair VX550 550W could do the job? It has a single rail with 41A on 12V. ATi certified Straightpower BQT E6-550W for 5850, which has 4 rails per 18A, but overall 41A too (http://www.be-quiet.net/be-quiet.net/data/media/_stories/216/sp_e6_550_EN.pdf).
