  • MSI Z77A-G41 Boot Problems

Just bought the mobo brand new, with ram & cpu connected everything spins up but no output to display, if I add gfx still no output to display, if I add my ssd the following happens h**p
I have tried all 4 sticks of ram in dimm 2 slot and same problem persists. I have tried a blank HDD non SSD and nothing outputs to display, tried an alternate blank SSD no output, tried a DVD RW no display.
My assumptions are that CPU isn't faulty given that it briefly posts with the SSD, the RAM could be the issue if the mobo is picky but doubt all four sticks are faulty.
For info the Windows 8 installation on the SSD is from a previous build and if I could get it to post would format and reinstall.
Is the mobo faulty or are the parts incompatible? Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

Most of the time, that is never going to work.
What connection method are you using to connect to a monitor? Onboard graphics or discrete card? And what is the monitor model?
I never intended the SSD to work, however by connecting the SSD with the windows installation on it is the only way I have been able to get anything to display.
I could only get the VGA connection to work connected direct between the mobo and my monitor, hdmi doesn't. My 560ti won't display anything either.
The monitor is a Digimate something or other but have had it several year with no real problems.
    Thanks

  • MSI Z77A-G41 USB 3.0 and PS2 problems

I have had this board for about 4 months now and have come to realize that non of the USB 3.0 ports on the back of the board work, nor do the PS2 ports for my keyboard. I tested this in Windows 8 and nothing registers when I plug my USB 3.0 flash drive in (which works in any other USB 2.0 port). I try booting from the flash drive through the port but it doesn't detect it.
As for the PS2 ports my keyboard uses a USB to PS2 adapter. I plug that in and nothing happens. I don't even know if power flows through those ports. I'll have to check that later.
Could this be an issue with the BIOS or perhaps be a defect?

Double check all the applicable drivers are installed. Any yellow exlamation marks in Device Manager? Also, that the USB controller(s) are all enabled. Have a look at the MSI Website for any current W8 supporting drivers, or a UEFI/BIOS that improves W8 support.

  • MSI Z77A-S03 Boot problems

I recently had my motherboard upgraded to a MSI Z77A-S03. Now, every time the computer starts up, the boot sequence is lost, so I have to enter BIOS and set it.
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 2.40GHz
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
    BIOS Version: E7752IMS V2.10
    Drives installed:
SATA2: Corsair CSSD-F115GB2-A ATA (115 GB, NTFS, the drive I want to boot from)
    SATA1: Samsung HD103SJ ATA (1 TB, NTFS)
    SATA5: Samsung HD103UJ ATA (1 TB, NTFS)
SATA3: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222AB ATA (DVD)
BIOS can find all the drives, but insists on trying to boot from the DVD.
EDIT: Or possibly from "UEFI: Built-in EFI shell" (whatever that is); boot menu and BIOS setup say differently.

have you adjusted your boot priority properly?
Yes, have to do that every time the computer starts up, or it stops with a "Bootmanager not found" error. Every other setting (clock, etc.) seems to survive the reboot. Only the boot priority is lost.

EDIT: Don't know if it's relevant, but I've tried to disconnect the two Samsung drives, to see if any of them are the problem. Made no difference.

  • MSI Z77A-G43-memory problem

    Hello
I bought lately new cpu,mb and memory. When i turned it on it was still rebooting after few seconds after start. So i treid to put just one memory in slot. It worked but only if memory is in bank 3 or 4. In 1,2 computer is still rebooting. Also it works with two memory modules, but putted in 3,4 slots only. And just in single channel. I saw that many people have the same problem and shop service wrote them that it works like that. First You put memory in slots 3,4 and then in 1,2. It is strange for me. I don't have two another memory modules to check if this is true and I want to that it works in dual channel, not single. So, is this true or mb is broken?

Hello. I have the same problem, except, I use 4 Dimms in 4 slots on my MSI board. I installed speaker on MB to see if there are any beep sounds during the booting, but all seems ok. The problem is the PC keeps still rebooting after about 5 sec. from the start. There aren´t any visual information on screen, since the start is so short. I tried to install dimms in 2nd and 4th slot first. Then to 1st and 3rd. In both cases the problem was still the same. When I put all rams in all 4 slots, the result is the same (restart for ethernity). The only way that goes is the PC runs with only 1 dimm in either 1st or 2nd slot. I tested all the memory modules and all of them work fine. I even tried this on a differennt mainboard from ASUS P8Z77-V LX. Now I tested it on MSI Z77A-G43. Both mainboards are new. There is a very slim change that both of them would be defective. Before I got MSI MB, I ran couple of days on the ASUS MB and everything was perfect, so I don´t think that CPU is defective. I even ran a few benchmarks on it. But I still don´t understand why can´t I run the system with all 16 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB in one slot. Please help me.

  • MSI Z77A-G43 RAM Problems

    Hi everybody,
I have some big problems with my new build:
    Intel Celeron G1610
    MSI Z77A-G43
2x4gb Corsair Vengeance LD low voltage 1600 mhz 1.35 v dual channel kit
    Seasonic 620w PSU
    Saphire 7850 2gb GDDRAM5
My system wont work with both ram sticks in. If I only use one of them (it doesn't matter which one) in whatever slot I want, I don't have any problems. However if I use both of them I get bsods or restarts very soon after windows finishes loading. I must also mention that it's almost impossible to install Windows with both Ram sticks in. I almost always get a bsod when the installer is expanding the windows files.
I must also mention that by default, my motherboard sets my ram to 1333 MHz and 1.5v even if the producer says that the ram should run at 1600 MHz and 1.35 v. If I set them to these values myself in the oc menu, they are reset to the default values again immediately after I get another crash.
I have the latest bios and drivers and I don't know what else to try: ( any ideas?
    Thank you!

Hi flobelix and thank you very much for your response. I tried your solution and on the next powerup, my pc didn't crash at all and I ran a couple of games and memory intensive programs.
However, unfortunatelly, after I closed the PC for a while and restarted it again, the problems came back. The ram timings don't change anymore in BIOS but the system constantly restarts. I ran memtest for 6 hours last night with both sticks of ram in and it did not find any errors so I can't figure out what's wrong.

Since I'm desperate, I'm just gonna go ahead and reinstall windows again. During the last successful pc run (after I took your advice), I ran MSI live update and installed the rest of the utility software. Maybe this did something to my drivers.... I'm really reaching the end of my possibilities :(

  • New MSi Z77A - GD65 DIMM problem

I was wondering if anybody else has a similar experience with this.
    My build:
    i7 - 3770k 3.4 ghz
    MSi z77A - GD65
MSi 760 Geforce GTX 4GB VRAM
    Rosewill Xtreme RX750 - D - B
    3 x 4 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM
So everything wrongs except for the DIMM.  The two DIMMs closest to the CPU causes the system to not POST.  The debug stays at 55 which indicates that there's no memory.  When I installed two sticks into the slots furthest away from the CPU, it boots up just fine.
I tried booting up with one stick in the DIMM furthest away from the CPU for each ram stick.  They all result in the system booting up just fine.  I tried using 4 x 2 gb RIPJAW ram sticks and again the system errors at 55.  The common denominator here is  that the two DIMM slots closest to the CPU are not working and causing everything to freak out.
This is my theory on what's going on.  I have no idea how to fix this other than returning the board for a new one.  Hopefully I can get some suggestions or advice on what to do from here.  Maybe my mobo isn't broken, and it's just me doing something wrong.  I certainly hope so because I'm a pretty lazy dude.  Bought this board because my other mobo didn't boot up.  Now this board isn't reading my memory.  What gives???  Any help is appreciated.

Enter bios and check if the intel ME firmware is properly installed. If not it will show N/A in the bios.
My PC with the regular Z77A-GD65 worked flawless for a year, then I had problems. My gcard died and I had massive bootproblems. I tried a lot to figure out the reasons. All I could come up with was a faulty board or incompatible memory, like you think you have. I switched from 4x4Gb to 2x8 Gb in slots 2 + 4, but it didn't help.
After I noticed Intel ME firmware wasn't installed, I tried that. I used the forum tool and most important: I used a bios version with Intel ME firmware included. Downloaded it from an attachment in these forums (so don't download bios versions from the official MSI website!). I flashed the bios and everything worked great again!
Try that first, before you start inspecting CPU pins or change to different memory. I installed BIOS version 10.8B3 (beta), but watch out, I think your gaming edition of the Z77A-GD65 has a different bios. Check the forums which (beta) version is the most reliable.

  • MSI Z77A-G41, Ivy bridge compatible

Hello! I am planning on ordering a Z77A-G41 motherboard and a i5 3570k processor. It says it's Gen 3 compatible but I watched a YouTube clip of a guy building his computer with the same exact motherboard that I am planning to buy and he said he had to update his BIOS to make it compatible. Other than that I can't find any other information regarding this.
My question is: Do I have to update the BIOS for the motherboard to support i5 3570k or will it work right away?
    Thanks!

Quote from: Froggy Gremlin on 30-May-13, 16:49:25
Yes they are. I believe Bernhard missed the Z77 and was thinking Z68.
The other way to update the UEFI/BIOS without a CPU is to use an SPI flash programming device.
    Another possible is to contact MSI Technical if you can get the mainboard serial number in advance and ask them what it shipped with from the factory;

Sweet, thank you! I'll go ahead and contact them :D

  • Word from MSI on the Audio Problem

Here is a letter that MSI sent me last night.
    Quote
    Richard & Glenn,
I have taken some time to read through the audio posts in the nforce forum. There's a lot of posts but it's difficult to find the problem cause based on those posts.  I understand the frustration of having the problem which results to a lot of MSI bashing posts. So, we need to find some direction in order to find the solution. I know you are doing that right now, keep up the good work.
    Just my observations & suggestions:
    1. Not all are having the BKSOD problem
    2. As you know, the board has been out at least a year meaning most of them should have a working system for at least some months before experiencing the problem. So please help find out what have they changed in their config that might caused the problem? I can only guess the problem started after people updated their drivers from nvidia website.
    3. Is there anyone who can have a pattern for duplicating the problem easily? As you know, it would be very difficult for us to solve a problem which cannot be seen in the first place.
    4. There are 2 kinds of sound setup, one is with on-board sound (2 channel)while the other is with the CNR sound (6 channel).
    5.  I have seen 1 or 2 posts which claimed to have solved their problem after going back to some old driver version. Maybe you can convince them to go back to MSI original drivers or older drivers of Nvidia.
    MSI
As you can see, MSI does have an interest in solving the problem.  Has anyone tried going back to the original Drivers from the MSI CD?
Also it would be helpful to try and nail down when the problem started occuring.  When was it? 1 month, 2 months, 5 months ago?
    Richard

Since I don't play games a lot I don't experience this problem often, but I experienced it for the first time while playing Warcraft III. I could play for anywhere from 1-3 hours but eventually the system would lock up with a black screen. Before that I had only played a few other games (mostly Counter-Strike) that did not have this problem.
Switching back to the 1.05 drivers solved my problems with Warcraft III.
Later I wanted to have the audio control panel from the 1.13 drivers back and since I didn't play Warcraft III anymore at that point I just installed them. I noticed that when playing DVD's on my computer the system would freeze after approx. 30 mins - 1 hour. I tried this several times before switching back to the 1.05 drivers. That solved the problem again.
I think it is fair to conclude that for me the problems started after upgrading from the 1.05 drivers. It is very difficult to describe how to reproduce this problem exactly, but on my system the easiest way is to play a DVD movie using the 1.13 drivers for about one hour.
I am using the Dolby Digital output since I have a DD receiver.

  • MSI GT60 - 2OD - Audio problems, Laptop not recognizing audio jacks and speakers

I tried to redirect the sound from my TV to the laptop in order to use my bluetooth headset.
It worked, but after turning my tv off, I continued using the headset normally.
But when I turned off my headset, the speakers stopped working and the laptop doesnt recognize any áudio inputs.
I already unninstalled the drivers, even installed my Win 8 from scratch, but nothing seems to work.
Does anybody have an idea of what is going on, or how i can fix it?

Latest driver version, I downloaded through the MSI website.
This is the first time that something like this has happened, the line is isn't set as default.
And also, when I open the Realtek HD Audio Manager, all the jacks are grayed,
At least my bluetooh headset still works.

  • MSI RS480M2-IL audio problem

Hi, i just set up my new pc with the MSI RS480M2-IL mobo and i am having some serious problems with the sound. i installed the ac97 codec from the msi driver page and here is what happens, the sound works only when i switch it to 4 channel mode or higher. And the worst part is when i go to websites using the adobe flash to view videos i get no sound at all, also programs like ventrilo dont work either. now i tried to reinstall the codecs and everything but nothing is working. oh and the sound works when watching movies on media player and other sites that dont use adobe flash. HELP PLEASE.

where do i find these drivers, i checked on the realtek site and google and i could not find anything. would you happen to have a direct link that would be great. also lets say i open youtube and watch a video which used adobe flash ,and i click on sound settings on adobe flash, i can see the sound bar moving like the sound is playing. so i really dont believe its a software or driver problem, can it be that it is a hardware problem? if yes, is there a way i can find out if i still have  the warranty left on it? thanks

  • MSI K9VGM-V Audio Problems..Help!

I have a k9vgm-v series mobo that I just recently installed a few months ago.  Works great except now for some reason my Mic is picking up whatever my Line Out has playing such as music, game sfx etc.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, as well as the muting of the mic in audio properties.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not sure if this is a hardware problem or not.  Thanks guys

My first ? would be. Are you using desktop speakers or a headset? I f you are using any speakers at all you are always going to pick-up background noise(i.e. anything playing through your speakers). That being the case you might be able to adjust the mic volume on recording side of sound options or a lot of newer sound cards offer a noise canceling option on the mic properties area of aftermarket sound manager. Or you might wan to buy a noise canceling mic which tries to only pick-up anything above a certain db range. I have the same mother board and never had an issue like that when I used onboard sound unless I was using my speakers, when I game online with friends and use the in-game voip or a client program like TeamSpeak2 I always use my headset w/ mic so my friends can hear and understand me!

  • MSI GE60-203 AUDIO PROBLEM

    Hi ,
My MSI GE60-20e the speaker and headphone(i plug in my earpiece) work at the same time, makes me so frustrated , tried installed the latest realtek driver from MSI website but sitill not working ... Any advises?

In the Realtek HD Audio Manager, in the upper right corner of the screen is a button, "Device Advanced Settings". Click that, and in the new window you should have 2 options on the top and 2 on the bottom. Set the top one to "Mute the internal output device, when an external output device plugged in".
That should fix the issue I believe.
