MSI Z77A-G43 Gaming Crossfire

Hi there,
It´s my first post here so greetings all  I have a question regarding MSI Z87 G43 GAMING motherboard and crossfire. I noticed, a bit too late, that the G43 does not crossfire in a x8/x8 mode! Is this a performance compromiser? I mean, I´ve noticed a great scaling in BF4 with seetings in High (no AA; with SSAO) running the game with a 3 screen display - compared with single card I went from 50-80 FPS to 70-130.
So, if I understand correctly from the board specs, I have one graphic card at x16 and the other x4?
Thanks for your attention.

So... I´ve been searching other MSI alternatives towards minimizing the cost of my ignorance. I found MSI Z87-G55 - 3 PCIe 3.0x16. The price is 30€ less than the G45 (110€ vs 140€) and the only visible diference is the network adapter (Realtek® RTL8111G Vs Killer E2205). Can you tell me if this is a good choice?
My specs:
Core i7 4770K
Gskill 2*8GB 1866
SSD Samsung 840
ASUS 7970ghz DCII Top
PowerColor R9280X
Also checked the G55 OC Genie feature in BIOS. I´m currently using that with my G43 and it´s very simple efficient and absolutely stable and trouble free. Is the BIOS in the G55 similar to the G43? Hope you could answer all this m8... sorry for such inquiry :P
Thanks again for your attention

  • MSI Z77A-G43 GAMING with CORSAIR Vengeance Pro CMY8GX3M2A1866C9

    HI,
I need to know please if i can use this ram kit  ?
if yes, can i get the max ram freq (1866MHz) by enableing xmp in bios ?
    cpu: I5 3550 Ivy bridge
    thanx

XMP will not be found under CPU support. Its not a CPU function. Its a pre-defined memory SPD profile that can be used by board manufacturers as a BIOS feature. A sort of a one-stop shop to apply a certain overclocked memory condition.
The RAM manufacturer will have predefined JEDEC SPD profiles programmed onto a EEPROM chip on the mem module. If its overclocked memory, then additional XMP profile/s may be added. This XMP profile can be applied by enabling the XMP feature in the BIOS. This enabling of the XMP then tries to apply the pre-programmed profile to the CPU memory controller. The mem controller may or may not work at this desired XMP setting. It saves you the effort of setting the overclocked mem profile manually.
With Ivy bridge CPUs the mem controller can apply 1600 as default. Anything above that is not guaranteed.
Thus if you have memory with a XMP 1600 profile, then its most probably 1333 memory with an overclocked XMP profile of 1600.
XMP also will only become visible in the BIOS if the memory actually has a XMP profile.
If your memory has a 1866 XMP profile, then that will be applied to the IMC, or at least an attempt will be made. The IMC may or may not work at that OC'ed mem setting. Further tweaking maybe needed, i.e. increased voltage to stabilise. Experience though shows that most of the memory controllers on Ivy will not have a problem with 1866.

  • Can i crossfire two radeon 7950's with msi Z77A-G43

Im looking to buy MSI's version of the Radeon 7950 twin Frozr to complete my system but im not sure if i will eventually be able to crossfire two of these cards in the future. I know that this MB only has one PCIe3 slots. Does this matter in crossfire? or will I have to replace the MB in order to corssfire?
    MSI Z77A-G43
    8gb Corsair Vengence
    600 Watt Corsair PSU
    Intel Core i5 3770k Oc's at 4.2 ghz
    500 gb Western Digital HDD
    Cooler Master hyper EVO 212

that should work but at PCI-E REV 2.0 speeds just make sure you have gen 3 support turned off or it will not allow crossfire!

  • MSI Z77A-G43 crossfire?

    i got a quick 1
can the MSI Z77A-G43 run dual crossfire yes or no?
can't find a soilid answer on the main website saying yes or no but looking at the express slots i think
just don't want to make a mistake.
i'm doing some searching for a clan mate not to well known in pc building.

I have the same question...? Do you mean 'dual' Crossfire as in 4 Videocards.. or 2 Videocards in PCI_E2 & PCI_E4?
The answer is... this board can run 2 cards in Crossfire. In E2 & E4 as explained in the owners manual.
You can not use the other slots for CrossFire.
Tell your Clan Mate..that All are welcome here, and not to think any question is unable to be asked. We were All newbee's at one point in time.. and a lot of us still are not experts. We just like to help and be helped.
Plus if the posting guide is read, it will be learned that going to 'Profile' and listing the PCs equipment will give us better information about the PC, to be able to help better.

  • Black screen at boot MSI Z77A-G43 with HD7850

    Hi,
I've tried everything You suggested in this topic. I've upgrade and downgrade bios (official 2.3, 2.4, 2.8, 2,9 / beta 256, 281,296) few times but still is black screen at boot. Now i'm on the newest beta bios 296 and still same issue on Sapphire HD 7850 with my Z77a-G43 board. I know for sure that sapphire working well because I've checked on other mobo with even worst PSU (400W instead 550W Volcano). Before hd 7850 I had gtx460 and swith those few times and always gtx460 works fine, so I don't understand anything right now.
Tried different slots, also clear cmos.
    Board: MSI Z77A-G43
    Bios: Version 296
    VGA:   Sapphire HD7850 1GB
    PSU:   Modecom Volcano 550W
    Intel Core i5-3570k
    MEM: Kingston 4GB 1600MHz
    HDD: 2xSSD
    Without OC
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Professional
Can You help me somehow, maybe I did not check something else?

Do you see the same problem on bios 2.90?
The Z77A-G43 seems the have difficulties accepting HD7xxx AMD VGA cards lately.
It seems that the problem is gone. I thought of it being an ATI driver issue ~ but not even the latest didn't fix it. But since I flashed to BIOS 2.9 I haven't encountered the problem anymore. So I believe something is fixed between 2.3 to 2.9.
However my problem was a bit different that the OP has.
Oh, and I said this on other thread so I say it here too: MSI and Asus 7xxx cards haven't faced the kind of issues Sapphires are having. I'm so glad to my choice... as I almost picked Sapphire but then read comments on Newegg which weren't in favor for Sapphire.

Yes, although just a little oc.

2.Can MSI VGA Boost feature work with other brand graphics card? or it only work with MSI Graphics card ?
Only with MSI vgas of the Gaming series (= even other MSI vgas won't work)

Choose what you like. Both are H87 boards hence no cpu oc possible anyway. VGA boost is not really worth buying a board for. The Gaming board features other extras like Killer LAN and enhanced onboard sound.

  • Three beeps when booting new computer with MSI Z77A-G43 Mobo

I just built this pc and pressed the power button. Nothing happens for a few seconds and then I hear 3 beeps from the PC speaker. It powers off by itself and opens again, with 3 beeps again, and repeats this until i press the power button to close it down forcefully.

Bios: I am not sure, but the box says Click BIOS II

HDD: 1 TB Western Digital Caviar Black

    OC: none

3 beeps is a memory failure!
try each stick in slot 2 individually as you may possibly have a bad stick?
if the first suggestion doesn't work remove the CPU and check the socket as you may have a bent pin in there causing the issue?

  • I bought a MSI Z77A-G43 and 1st PCIE(3.0 I guess) slot doesn't work?

I bought a MSI Z77A-G43 and 1st PCIE (3.0 I guess) slot doesn't work? I mean when I put my gf card in it , my screen wont start. BUt when I put it to other blue Pcie (2.0 I guess) it works. What will be the reason? Do I need to do anything in bios ?

I had a similar situation recently.
1.) Check the cpu/ socket for damage
2.) Remove the mobo and make sure there are no extra stand off's under the board.
3.) Check the pci/e slot for obstruciton or debris
Other than that it's probably going to be an rma issue.

  • MSI Z77A-G43-memory problem

    Hello
I bought lately new cpu,mb and memory. When i turned it on it was still rebooting after few seconds after start. So i treid to put just one memory in slot. It worked but only if memory is in bank 3 or 4. In 1,2 computer is still rebooting. Also it works with two memory modules, but putted in 3,4 slots only. And just in single channel. I saw that many people have the same problem and shop service wrote them that it works like that. First You put memory in slots 3,4 and then in 1,2. It is strange for me. I don't have two another memory modules to check if this is true and I want to that it works in dual channel, not single. So, is this true or mb is broken?

Hello. I have the same problem, except, I use 4 Dimms in 4 slots on my MSI board. I installed speaker on MB to see if there are any beep sounds during the booting, but all seems ok. The problem is the PC keeps still rebooting after about 5 sec. from the start. There aren´t any visual information on screen, since the start is so short. I tried to install dimms in 2nd and 4th slot first. Then to 1st and 3rd. In both cases the problem was still the same. When I put all rams in all 4 slots, the result is the same (restart for ethernity). The only way that goes is the PC runs with only 1 dimm in either 1st or 2nd slot. I tested all the memory modules and all of them work fine. I even tried this on a differennt mainboard from ASUS P8Z77-V LX. Now I tested it on MSI Z77A-G43. Both mainboards are new. There is a very slim change that both of them would be defective. Before I got MSI MB, I ran couple of days on the ASUS MB and everything was perfect, so I don´t think that CPU is defective. I even ran a few benchmarks on it. But I still don´t understand why can´t I run the system with all 16 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB in one slot. Please help me.

  • MSI Z77A-G43 UEFI Overvolt+Intel Exteme Tuner Overvolt combo

    Hey all,
I just wanted to run past you an experiment I did and I think worked.
I currently overclock my i5-3570k with an every day overclock of 4.4 at no offset voltage and a benchmark overclock of 4.7 at +.14V - however my benchmark overclock isnt exactly stable.
I noticed in Exteme Intel Tuning Utility There's a slider there for additional  mV turbo voltage.  I'm multiplier overclocking for my benchmark overclock with no power saving features and my voltage tops out at around 1.34V but when I add additional mV on Intel Extreme Tuner it goes to 1.38V.  It also made me pass my 3dmark at 4.7 which is hit-or-miss but now worked every single time and also passed IBT.
Could this truly be modifying my input voltage on the CPU beyond the motherboard's limited offset mV overclocking?
Is this super dangerous and should I never do it again?
    thoughts/opinions
    also obligatory 3dmark link

1.400v's on the CPU is the industry recommended limit for an everyday machine, so whatever way it gets there shouldn't make any difference.

If not doing a 'Turbo' OC, I don't see the connection with mV turbo setting. If raising the mV on the Intel utility raises the voltage to the CPU, and it is confirmed, then it must work as you have described.
