4.      On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Note Following this step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.
5.      Click OK, and then click Restart.

• New SSD in T430, Windows not loading, tried everything...

Hi there,
I bought a T430 about a week ago. I'm not completely inept with computers: I successfully added another 4GB of RAM with no problems.
Then I wanted to replace my HDD with my SSD. I know the SSD works because it was in another laptop. I put it in an external dock; hooked it up to my T430; cleared it. I have kept the HDD as a safe backup, which I have used repeatedly since. I also made a Windows recovery disc on a CD.
I cloned the HDD onto my SSD using EaseUS software and told it to make it bootable. It didn't for me, so I blamed the software.
I then used Acronis True Image to make a bootable copy of my setup on a USB drive. I turned the computer on with just the (blank) SSD and tried to load the USB. The computer refuses to recognize the bootable copy point blank. Just brings me back to a screen asking me which drive I want to boot from repeatedly.
Alright then, I said, clone the HDD onto the SSD and then try the USB bootable. Did that, but it made no impact. Same problem as above.
Okay, let's try a fresh install on the SSD by using the recovery disc. This is when the real fun happens. I get to the Lenovo-themed System Recovery menu, and I click Next. Then I get an alert box saying "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows." What? I only made it this morning. I don't think there has been any major updates to Windows since then! (Just in case, I made an even newer recovery disc tonight. I got the same error.)
I then cleared the SSD and tried the recovery disc on the clean SSD. Same error again. The recovery discs aren't working, the system is not recognizing the USB copy, and the cloned (and supposedly boot-ready) SSD won't boot.
What's going on? All I am trying to do is replace my HDD with my SSD, and run Windows 7. I didn't think it would be this hard
Some extra points:
- I am inserting the drives. The computer can read that it's a Samsung 840 series SSD.
- There is no problem with the USB. My desktop can read it just fine, and sees that there is 29GB of stuff there.
- I have changed the boot order in the BIOS to load the USB (or CD) drive first.
- I have disabled the secure startup option in the BIOS.
- I have tried Legacy, UEFI, mixture of both, etc etc.
- Yes, it's a legit copy of Windows. It came with the computer a week ago. There is maybe an issue that I'm looking to reinstall Windows 7 onto the SSD, but the only recovery discs that come with the computer are Windows 8... but then how do I get Win 7 onto my SSD?
- I have searched the forums. None of the suggested solutions (mostly listed above) have worked.
Any help would be much appreciated, folks.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I had one extra hiccup. The Windows 7 disc could not locate the activation/product key on the BIOS. Neither could any of the semi-questionable programs that I downloaded. So I could not authorize Windows 7.
I called Lenovo. They said it was my fault for using Windows recovery discs instead of Lenovo recovery discs. (Heaven forbid! It really should not matter. It is a terrible approach on the part of Lenovo that their initial recovery discs gave me an error about licensing, but yet they seemingly don't support the stock Windows recovery discs.) Anyway, after I told the agent - in my polite way - that this was a ridiculous scenario, she offered to send me out Lenovo recovery discs.
I accepted. They arrived today. I reinstalled Windows, and now everything is running just fine.
In case anyone in the future reads this thread: ask Lenovo to send you out Win 7 Pro recovery discs, and use them after you install the SSD. It makes the process much easier.

• Windows not loading in Snow leopard

After my SL upgrade some programs load but i can't see their main window. I do not have spaces setup nor is spaces enabled. Anyone else encountering the same issue.

Try reinstalling the programs or get rid of their .plist files.

• Windows not Loading on Mac?

Not sure if this is a problem with Windows, Bootcamp or Parallels.
I have had Vista loaded on my MacBook in a separate partition for quite a few months and it all works fine. I went to load it the other day and it gets to the scrolling line on the Windows startup (just before the login screen) and stays there.
It's not frozen - the scrollbar still moves. This happens in Bootcamp and Parallels, so it looks like its a problem with the copy of Windows.
Anyone else had the same experience, and how did you fix it?

I would assume an issue with the HTML5 media player.
If those aren't working on Windows then it is possible that the proper codecs aren't installed.
You can try to disable the HTML5 media player and make Firefox use the Flash plugin.
You can do this by setting these two prefs to false on the <b>about:config</b> page:
*media.windows-media-foundation.enabled
*media.directshow.enabled

• Windows not loading properly in boot camp, black screen

Hi guys,
having problems with bootcamp, running the latest version under snow leopard on an intel mac mini
i bought a copy of XP on ebay, to my dismay, what i actually got in the post was a recovery disk for a dell laptop, and a product key. Although probably illegal to sell to me, it was able to install over the top of my windows 2000 install i did with Parallels. installing to bootcamp as the disk drive is named with a different letter each time i start the virtual machine, causing havoc with games that require the cd to be in the drive, and not knowing where to look for the disc.
I partitioned the drive, and installed windows. once that had finished, it rebooted automatically. but now, whenever i boot up windows under botcamp, i am presented with a black screen with a flashing cursor. i cannot type anything, or bypass it. if the xp disk is in the drive, it says press any key to boot windows from the cd, but pressing any key does not result in anything happening, and so i have to hold the power button down to do an emergency restart.
does anyone know where i might have gone wrong?

solved, by using a windows service pack 2 cd, instead of service pack 3. not sure why the later service pack would not install properly

Hi
I'm new to Netbeans. I installed version 6.1 and started going through the tutorials. I tried following the instructions from this link ( http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/java/gui-functionality.html ). When I run the application the window does not show. What am I missing. Is there instructions missing in the example? BTW, I'm running the Mac OSX version.

• DDR3 RAM specification for MSI Z77A-GD65

Hello MSIers ,
I am about to buy the MSI Z77A-GD65 or GD55 not sure yet ... I used Gigabyte boards for 10 years and they always state to use 1.5 volt RAM sticks ...
Now for MSI and the mention board , what voltage should I pick ? I want 2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 1600MHz and might look to faster frequencies like 2333 MHz ??? will it work with an I7 3770 right out the box (if I load XMP in BIOS) ? can lower latencies or CAS as well ?
Thanks

http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Redline.aspx
Allot of the mushkin comes pre-under-timed (the xmp profile does anway) As that computer is an AMD platform, I need to match the xmp profile and adjust the fsb/ dram ratio to get the correct speed & timings. Both of those listed computers are quite stable.
The corsair memory I have listed has an xmp profile of 11-11-11-30, I manually under-timed that when I was tweaking. That is the lowest I could go and maintain stability.
One thing to keep in mind when you look at memory, is that almost all that you see out there is 1333 memory which has been tested and tuned (Overclocked) to w/er limit. Even ddr3-1600  you buy will by default run at 1333 as the 1600 is an XMP profile extension to the SPD. So no matter what you buy over 1333, you are most likely going to need to at minimum enable the xmp profile or at worst tinker with the speed & timings manually.
Nice .. Thank you ..
So what DDR3 freq. / timings you suggest for the best performance and stil very stable (as long as I (most likely) need to tinker a bit around the BIOS and XMP) ? I am gonna use the I7 3770 locked version CPU
You advice or against , maybe 2000 freq or more DDR3 with the Z77AGD65 ? or you advice with choosing a lower latency modules but at 1600 MHz freq like this http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Redline/997056.aspx ?

• MSI Z77A-GD65 going crazy after Windows 8/8.1 installation.

Hey so I decided to buy a new SSD and update my system to Windows 8.1 (coming from 7), mainly for optimal BF4 gaming experience, (I also intend buying a 290X lightning or two when they come out...) . But during the process I encountered a truckload of problems, my main one is this: I was using bios version 10.7 for almost a year, with a stable 4.8GHz OC (which I managed to get done after each bios flash since I built the rig in early 2012), everything went great - this was on Windows 7.
However when I migrated to Windows 8.1 my PC wouldn't boot anymore and after 5-6 attempts it did boot and it said that all my settings were reset to default, fine. I restarted and from then on it wouldn't boot anymore no matter what. The error code on the mobo is always "19" which in manual says it's Early South Bridge initialization. I have no ideea what to do anymore, I tried plugging out SSD, HDDs, GPUs, RAM sticks, clearing cmos with back panel button. It all boiled down to either not booting or going into a boot loop.
My only solution was to switch to bios B on the multi-bios switch which is running 10.2 an almost 2 years old bios. That beeing said I can boot normally now (and fast), and the system runs great but the bios version is so old that it does not let my 2x680 MSI Lightnings work in PCIE 3.0, only 2.0...
So i'm VERY scared of what to do next, because I don't want this second bios to corrupt as well.
I always flashed my bios with Live update 5, I did this with each new bios release and never had a problem but I read that the latest bios, 10.10 is buggy, and I don't know HOW to flash my bios to an earlier version, maybe even 10.7 or 10.8 in another way. Is there a way to safely flash BOTH bioses and to repair my A bios at the same time?
TL'DR, if there isn't any safe solution to my problem I might as well just press in OC Genie button and have a mild OC until sometimes next year when I'll get a new mb + cpu + ram anyway. But if there is one, please let me know.
Any imput is apreciated, THANKS!

• When booting 7 64bit on HP Pavilion, I get a window saying loading "Trayapp.msi" .

When booting 7 64bit on HP Pavilion,  I get a window saying loading "Trayapp.msi" It asks for a CD containing such. What can I do I have no CD? This new Desktop has Windows loaded from the Internet.

This means part of the hp printer software was not deleted properly. (Windows detected something is missing and tried to repair the installation). You should be able to find it in the downloaded hp printer software. If not, try download and install the hp printer software.
Use the uninstaller to remove installed software/driver, to avoid issues like this.

• Could not load assembly or file "crystaldecisions.windows.forms"

Hi,
I have a VS2005 C# .net application which works fine when I run on the programming machine.
Now , I copy all files (dll , pdb , exe) from the Project's "..bin\Debug " directory .
These files I transfer to another computer which does not have VS 2005 .NET installed (or any separate crystal reports program), but it does have .netframework 1 and 2, so that I can test the application on that "test" computer.
When I double click the .exe , I log in and then I click a menu item which shows a form which has a crystalreport viewer in it.Here , an unhandled excepion error is shown like this...
Could not load assembly or file "crystaldecisions.windows.forms" version 10.2.3600.0
Note please: I have not created an installer(.msi) package for our application yet.
The application does not refer to any crystal reports dlls in it's directory
Thanks -

Hello Dimitar,
If Crystal Reports is not properly integrated into your VS IDE you'll usually see that kind of message.
You have to make sure that Crystal Reports is properly integrated into Visual Studios.  Do you have a full version of Crystal Reports installed on your Visual Studios .NET 2005 development machine? If so, what is the version of Crystal Reports?  Open Crystal Reports, go to the Help menu, and then About Crystal Reports.  What is the version number and name (listed near the top)?
Now open Visual Studios and go to Help > About VS.  In the list of Installed Products what does it say for Crystal (usually near the bottom of the list).  Please DO NOT include your keycode - just what it says for Crystal.
Sincerely,
Dan Kelleher

P.S. I am using Crystal Reports 2008 and Visual Studio 2008.
Thank you in advance.

A couple things here:
Your application is referencing the Windows form dll for the bundled version of Cr that comes with VS.NET 2008 and NOT the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime.  You need to change the references in the project to 12.xxx assuming you have Crystal Reports 2008 SP0 installed (this is needed for it to work with .NET 2008)
You need to make sure you deploy the runtimes for the appropriate version.  If you get your application upgraded to use all of the CR 2008 runtimes you will then need to deploy the runtimes to the machine you are deploying to.  You can do this by using the merge modules or the server install msi to get them on the machine.

• MSI P45-8D problem: reboot after loading startup services (windows seven 64bit)

hi guys!
I decided (buying a cooler master elite 360) to keep my Memory Lover (whit ddr3/ich10r, pci-ex 2.0), which is actually the 'best purchase for me (rather than a G41 mATX) .
But then, after I had solved the problem of overheating in the pci-ex, and I put the board in its box for weeks, now has a new problem:
Continuous blocks & reboots just after loading startup services windows seven!
The setup is this:
     Windows Seven 64bit
     MOBO MSI Memory Lover
     CPU Xeon L3110
     VGA MSI Radeon HD5450 1gb ddr2 fanless
     DDR3 1333 4GB
PSU Tacens Radix V mATX 35Watt Velociraptor + Caviar Green
     DVD burner (sata)
Esi pci-ex sound card connect module
Creative Xtreme Gamer (disconnected for now)
I have many ram models that I can put in:
     kingston lovo 4gb 1333
     4g-skill eco 4gb 1333
     adata green 4gb 1333
     corsairs white 8gb 1600
All memories can work undervolt at 1.35volt, but-of course-I keep them in standard 1.5Volt for more stability
I also tried a single 2gb stick at a time, but nothing has changed
when the system reboots (I infer) windows finished loading all the startup services (including antivirus, network drivers, audio drivers, etc. ..). and I can say with near certainty, that the last major service that is loaded, is the catalyst control center ...
I suspect an incompatibility with Memory Lover &  the Video Card's ATI driver ..
I also tried to uninstall and clean with driver sweeper, but the problem remains ..
Besides this I also have a problem with the temperature of the processor xeon l3110 (45watt tdp)
cpu heatsink as I have a Arctic Freezer LP 11 (Capacity Cooling 100W).
with thermal compound pre-installed I had 60/70 degrees recorded.
I changed the thermal compound with the famous Prolimatech pk-1 and now I measure 80/90 degrees ...(and I've changed a lot of thermal compound that I put with my eyes closed)
now, this is not possible because:
-I know the processor, I kept in daily use at 3Ghz with a noctua nh-U9B se2, and in summer never exceeded 40 degrees (d 'winter was about 30 degrees)
     - Either with the Scythe kama thermo, that with my finger, the heatpipes of the Freezer 11 LP, the Mosfet, the NB & SB are all cold .. the 5450 is 40 degrees or so, but it is fanless, and its temperature is in its normal ..
What can you tell me of my two problems:
     - Continuous reboots after loading windows seven
     - High temperature cpu (probably not real)
I remind you that a few months ago the team & Memory Lover Xeon L3110 worked perfectly.
The PSU is a new 350Watt Tacens Radix V mATX ... the system at idle consumes 70/80 watts (measured at the wall) ... I think it Is not a problem of the little power supply for the needs of my system ..
and anyway I can try to use an old Enermax 450watt Liberty, which I keep for emergencies..
     thanks
     max

guys,
     I solved the problem!
the sink was installed wrong, and did not touch on the processor!!!
the problem was the mosfets around the cpu that make thickness in height ..
the thermal paste was put well and ... still immaculate!
processor took about 20 (or more) of restarts and very high working temperatures!
     it rocks!!
I can now say that the 'AC Freezer 11 LP is sensational!
The Xeon L3110 (with EIST, C1E & Acpi active together, That downclok it) works now to 23-25 degrees!!
     I have installed the ddr3 kingston 4gb Lovo 1333 + 8GB Corsair 1600 1.35Vram white.
(with 12GB, I can easily do a large Ramdisk for temporary files).
I installed hd5450 driver manually, but still the catalyst control center does not appear at startup
here is the screen of the situation:
finally...but how did I doubt the quality of this MSI board?

• MSI z77A-G43 - After Shutdown - Fans will not turn off

Just installed a new MSI Z77A-G43 Motherboard for my husband since his old motherboard died. The one thing I've noticed though is that the fans will not turn off after I do a shutdown and I'd have to do a manual shut down instead. Any ideas what could be happening? Also it will randomly restart when not shutdown completely with the fans still on.
Here are the specs of the PC.
MOBO: Z77A-G43
Processor: Intel i5 - 2500k Quad Core
Video Card: Geforce - GT 610
Ram: 8 Gigs
Hard Drive - 128gb ssd and 1.5 tb hdd
It's really barebones since I'm trying to just get it to run then get it back to normal working order with the next pay check
EDIT!!!!::
Forgot OS is Window 7 Ultimate X64

If you are sure that your CPU is seated properly and that the PWM fan connector is seated correctly, then you may want to test with another known working PSU. I am not saying that your PSU is faulty, but before exhanging the board, I would definitely test that as well.
EDIT: Just a question, did you disconnect the power switch and the other front panel connectors of your case and started the PC by shorting the Power switch [pins 6 and 8 on JFP 1]with a screw driver tip ? The remote possibility exits that the cables may have been connected incorrectly or may have a short.

• Msi z77a-g45 - BIOS not saving loop

Hi there, I picked up a msi z77a-g45 and an i5 3750k, 4x4GB Kingston RAM, etc etc.
I'm an experienced system builder, but this is my first build in i5 land, or actually on an MSI board.  The issue I've got is when I first booted, it shows the "CPU or memory changed !!" and to press F1 for setup or F2 to load defaults and continue.  Cool, expected on first boot.  I enter setup, get the BIOS how I want it, save and reboot, it immediately shuts my box off and 2 seconds later, back on.  All good so far.
But it again prompts the "CPU or memory changed !!" warning.  Err...it showed my CPU properly in the BIOS, same with memory.
I've now gone through it quite a few times, and it always re-prompts me to go into the BIOS again or F2 to use defaults.
Doing the F2 deal will get me into Windows, but upon reboot I get the error again and have to F2 again just to boot.
I've tried using Click BIOS to make changes, it however doesn't show any memory in here (updated to latest Click BIOS version), but does show my CPU fine.  Shows 0GB.
I've also updated my BIOS to release 25 this morning, no change.
Anyone else have this happen at all?  I suppose my next steps will be to drop to a single stick of memory, see if that goes, or do a full 'remove battery' cmos clear.  I've tried pushing the clear button on back of mobo but didn't seem to do anything.
Would really appreciate any ideas, thanks all!
