MSI Z87-G43 Gaming and R9 290 OC Windforce not playing nice

Hi, already tried search but can find a solution, i have an Z87-G43 Gaming(Bios 10.30) and bought an Gigabyte R9 290 OC ref:GV-R929OC-4GD-GA(BIOS F3L). All is on latest Firmware/BIOS.
The problem is that the motherboard wont recognize my 290 on first PCIE 3. It works on second 16x slot. THe thing is... An Gigabyte 7950,Sapphire 7970, Unknown NVIDIA 7200gs all work in the first slot... now that i got bf4 my 290 doesnt work in the first slot... Latest bios from MSI say's vga compat. improved. The computer boots fine with the integrated vga and in bios it shows the first slot as empty. Anyone?

Like I said best to contact both and see what you can do. When I check VBIOS for MSI cards, there are normally newer versions available, so best to check. On the other hand if it is a bios issue, MSI can get on it.

  • Slow power on b4 seeing MSI logo (MSI Z87-G43 GAMING)

My question is, why it takes up to 10 seconds to power on before seeing the MSI logo.
My rig boots in Windows 8.1 Pro UEFI mode with RAID, see summary of rig below.
When booting it sometimes takes up to 10 seconds for the MSI screen to appear, the one with the MSI logo. Once the MSI logo appears the boot is fast, usually between 6 to 8 seconds.
Total boot time around 16 seconds
    Please help thanks

  • MSI Z87-G43 gaming + i5 4690K compatibility

    hello there
so, i built a new pc a few days ago and i decided to go with these 2 options (msi z87-g43 gaming + i5 4690K)
anyway, i saw that some people have issues and that it's kind of a roll of a dice whether this specific motherboard will boot with the 4690K or not. From what i saw, it depends on the motherboard's manufacture date and if it has a A5/A6 bios version or not.
now, what i'd like to know is; is there a way to check the bios version of the specific motherboard without opening the box? (i'll have my new hardware probably tomorrow)
i'm really thinking about getting another mobo, i'm not sure what i'll do though.. A friend told me, even though it wont have the A5/A6 bios version, it'll probably  boot and i'll be able to update it through windows. He also told me there's a really small chance i'll need another cpu to update the bios and then put my cpu on the mobo.. As i said, roll of a dice.
    Any advices/tips?

Hi, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming and Sapphire 290X, gpu fan is spinning, but black screen, only int. graphic  is working. Downloaded all updates, bios 1.7 for mobo.... what else.....Any ideas?

    Its not verified.
I got Sapphire to work, seems that drivers problem or something is maybe broken(mobo or gpu).
    Thanks for link!
Just in the middle of the action, I got this picture.
     What can cause that?

  • MSI Z87 G43 GAMING -BIOS CRASH-

    Hi everyone ,
I got a z87 g43 gaming mobo  I try tried to update my mobo on the live update A40 to A50  then it stuckt
Now no signal on monitor i tried to reset cmos by putting out  the battery but didnt work i dont understand what i need to do about jumper
its something like that what can i do???
Oh i almost forget my system is overclocked is it important and system resets itself(what is going on)
    Other specs
    4x2 ram corsair
    4670k
    Gtx 760

You have to return it to the seller if you want a replacement (LiveUpdate hasn't voided warranty as that was provided by MSI). Otherwise look around the city for repair center and ask if they can restore badly flashed BIOS on this mobo.

  • MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming and msata speed issue...

    Hi,
So I'm running the MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming with a 128GB SanDisk msata. Now it all works perfectly; no BSOD or crashes, but what I have noticed is that sometimes when the PC boots and I look in Intel Rapid Storage Technology, the msata on port 5 is running at 3Gb/s not 6Gb/s: I verified the speed loss using AS SSD benchmark. Reboot and it's back to 6Gb/s and back to full speed.
Anyone else seen this or have an idea of a solution?
    Thanks

How often can you notice the problem? You mentioned AS SSD Benchmark has speed loss, what's the result of speed test then?
I notice it a couple of times a day minimum

    Thanks for that info.
I think it's major problem with most motherboards that are not 9 series (probably with other vendors' motherboards too unless they fixed it with BIOS?)

  • Msi z87-gd65 gaming and SSD Agility2?

I understand that the native Haswell z87 chipset will not support this older SSD.
BUT, 2 of the of the SATA plugs are 3d party, will my SSD work there?
    Can anyone verify this please?
    Cheers!

In the testing I did on lga1155 boards, the aux sata controller was not as good as the z77. I am assuming this to be true on the x87 boards. I would suggest planning on upgrading the ssd in shortorder.
Thanks for the answer, kind sir.
So it will probably work, just not as fast?    Correct?
Reason:  an SSD upgrade is coming down the road, doing an "in place" CPU/MOBO upgrade so dont want to reinstall the OS just now.

  • MSI RS480M2-IL (MS7093) and Powercolor X800GTO 16 don't play nice?

I have a MSI RS480M2-IL (MS7093) mainboard. My mainboard's integrated graphics work perfectly fine, but after I plug in the PCIe graphics card, problems occur: screen flickering, slow PC response, CPU usage 100%. I have already disabled the internal video mode, set initial display first to PCIe and set AGP aperture size to 128MB in the BIOS. Please help. Now I'm using the onboard graphics but I would really like to use the PCIe graphics card.
FYI the PCIe graphics card I'm using is the Powercolor X800GTO 16 256MB GDDR3 256 bit 399.21/489.86. I haven't done any overclocking to the card.
Does my mainboard support Nvidia cards? I tried a Gigabyte 6800GS but there were stability issues.

I just cleared the CMOS and the card is working fine now.

  • Flashing of MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING failed and dual bios not helping, not sure why?

    Hi all
For the first time in 20 years Ive had a firmware flash fail it seems.
I have a MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING and updated the bios with the latest firmware via the "M-FLASH" utility within the systems bios.
All seemed to have gone well, it flashed to 100% rebooted and then just a blank screen and a sequence of keyboard light flashes.
After a minutes panic I thought not to worry, the motherboard has a dual bios.   So I powered down and switched the bios switch to bios B hoping it would assist and the problem is identical.
    Any tips anyone?

I just tried this along with removing power from the main board and it seems one of the two did it!   thanks

  • MSI Z77A-G43 Gaming Crossfire

    Hi there,
It´s my first post here so greetings all  I have a question regarding MSI Z87 G43 GAMING motherboard and crossfire. I noticed, a bit too late, that the G43 does not crossfire in a x8/x8 mode! Is this a performance compromiser? I mean, I´ve noticed a great scaling in BF4 with seetings in High (no AA; with SSAO) running the game with a 3 screen display - compared with single card I went from 50-80 FPS to 70-130.
So, if I understand correctly from the board specs, I have one graphic card at x16 and the other x4?
    Thanks for your attention.

So... I´ve been searching other MSI alternatives towards minimizing the cost of my ignorance. I found MSI Z87-G55 - 3 PCIe 3.0x16. The price is 30€ less than the G45 (110€ vs 140€) and the only visible diference is the network adapter (Realtek® RTL8111G Vs Killer E2205). Can you tell me if this is a good choice?
    My specs:
    Core i7 4770K
    Gskill 2*8GB 1866
    SSD Samsung 840
    ASUS 7970ghz DCII Top
    PowerColor R9280X
Also checked the G55 OC Genie feature in BIOS. I´m currently using that with my G43 and it´s very simple efficient and absolutely stable and trouble free. Is the BIOS in the G55 similar to the G43? Hope you could answer all this m8... sorry for such inquiry :P
    Thanks again for your attention
