Ive tried reseting BIOS and also did Memtest on the memory for 6-7 hours or so and it passed and even made sure the memory was compatable with the Motherboard witch it is. So now im lost and don't know what to do...is it the HardDrive possibly??? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP....... :-(
Cosmos 2 case
msi z87-g43 motherboard
Intel i7-4771 CPU
2x4 GB Patriot Viper 1600 ( memory tested for 6-7 hours with memtested and passed )
Nvidia GTX 760OC edition 2gb card
3 year old sata 1.5TB harddrive
Windows 7 home 64bit
Thermaltake Smart Series 750w PSU
This could be one of many faults. Try here : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/kernel-data-inpage-error-help-pls/94003454-5e1f-459f-89e8-1a555dc5e575
First do a Chkdsk. Choose Admin command prompt and type "CHKDSK /R /F" (without the quotes), press Enter. It will ask for a reboot, press Y, and let it do it's thing. It may take an hour or so depending on how many errors it finds. If you get a cascade of errors it is likely that you have a failing hard drive.
Anyway this is a good start.

MSI Z87-G43 gaming + i5 4690K compatibility
hello there
so, i built a new pc a few days ago and i decided to go with these 2 options (msi z87-g43 gaming + i5 4690K)
anyway, i saw that some people have issues and that it's kind of a roll of a dice whether this specific motherboard will boot with the 4690K or not. From what i saw, it depends on the motherboard's manufacture date and if it has a A5/A6 bios version or not.
now, what i'd like to know is; is there a way to check the bios version of the specific motherboard without opening the box? (i'll have my new hardware probably tomorrow)
i'm really thinking about getting another mobo, i'm not sure what i'll do though.. A friend told me, even though it wont have the A5/A6 bios version, it'll probably boot and i'll be able to update it through windows. He also told me there's a really small chance i'll need another cpu to update the bios and then put my cpu on the mobo.. As i said, roll of a dice.
Any advices/tips?Quote from: Nichrome on 01-May-15, 00:25:19

MSI z87 G43 OC GENIE ISSUE/Bios UPDATE
Hi Everyone, This is my First time posting to the forums.
Here Are my System Specs Before I post the question
Motherboard: msi z87 g43
CPU: intel core i7 4770k (haswell)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Ram ddr3 clocked at 1333mhz, 16gb, using 4 4gb sticks.
GPU: evga gtx 770 nvidia
PSU: Bronze certified psu at around 850 watt.
CPU COOLER: is a standard corsair single radiator water cooler
QUESTION/PROBLEM:
Ive had this computer built for about a year (basically right when the gtx 770 released). I have no problems with the device and it works perfectly. The motherboard however is where my problems starts to arise. I tried my hand at overclocking but ended up with a blue screen after some stress testing and just set my values back to default. But since then I really havent tried anything new with it. However, I noticed OC genie and I thought hey maybe Ill try this out for a chance. So I boot up and go into the bios set up (all values are default) and press the oc genie. As soon as the screen flashed back up I get a black screen and can not post. The only way to actaully fix this is to reset my CMOS which luckily I know how to do. But the black screen displayed also had a number letter combo at the bottom. It displayed 9C at the bottom in white. But when I get a successfull boot into the bios right beofre the bios logo I get a black screen with A2. But the A2 appears in every boot. Now heres where things get funky. I have a logitech Camera I use primarily for skype. When I have the device plugged in before the computer is booted. When I try to boot I get the black screen with the 9C, but when I unplug and reboot, I get the A2 and I get into my OS.
Now I tried overclocking again at 46 multiplyer with a 1.2v but When I did I get text saying its not successfull and resets my bios info, (which is cool considering oc genie didnt do this it just corrupts my CMOS).
So you must all be asking what version of the bios I have and the answer is 1.0....
Now I know there is a 1.9 and even a 1.A version which came out this year in 2014
The problem with this however is I know the dangers of flashing my bios and it can really screw up my mobo as in brick the darn thing. But from what I read, Live update form msi does not work and I shouldnt use it. But Is flashing the bios via the bios set up where there is a section specifically for flashing safe to do? With the oc genie not working im scared to try flashing my bios via the bios setup if that makes any sense
To wrap it up, is it a problem with my mobo, do I need to update my bios to fix it? If yes then what is the safest way of doing it since ive never done a bios update before (but i get the concept put the up date on a FAT 32 load it from it in the bios set up option let it do its thing and boom ) .The method above does NOT apply to your board. Either use MFlash (bios + ME option) or use the below:
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive (E7816IMS_1A0.rar.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip -
Hi,
I need some help in figuring out how to clear the cmos on a MSI Z87-G43. I've read https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=31222.0 but they don't seem to apply on this motherboard.
The manual shows an image of two pairs of squares with a white square inside them (an attempt to depict the image below). The left pair is grey and labeled Keep Data. The right pair is black and labeled Clear Data. They both have the number "1" labeled above.
1 1
[ x ] [ x ] [ x ] [ x ]
Keep Data Clear Data
The manual says you should short this jumper to clear the cmos. So it seems there is just a pair of pins instead of a three-pin jumper that is refered to in the instructions (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=31222.0).
Now I found a pair of pins located below the label JBAT1 and to the left of a pair of pins labeled JCI1. Are these the ones?
And how do I short them? I didnt recieve any jumpers with the motherboard. So maybe I have to order a pair?
Thanks!

Yes and you can short it with anything conductive (e.g. a screwdriver). You just need a temporary contact of the pins. Alternatively remove the battery for some time. -
Slow power on b4 seeing MSI logo (MSI Z87-G43 GAMING)
My question is, why it takes up to 10 seconds to power on before seeing the MSI logo.
My rig boots in Windows 8.1 Pro UEFI mode with RAID, see summary of rig below.
When booting it sometimes takes up to 10 seconds for the MSI screen to appear, the one with the MSI logo. Once the MSI logo appears the boot is fast, usually between 6 to 8 seconds.
Total boot time around 16 seconds
Please help thanks

From the moment this is displayed, it takes just 6 seconds for Windows to be functional. However, it takes around 10 seconds before this appears on the display.
To be clear, or at least for me to be clear, what you see in the screenshot is the BOOT and not the POST, during the actual POST (power on self-test), the user should not see anything on the display.
Is that correct or have I got it wrong.

MSI Z87-G43 can't control fan speed
Hi, i just bought an MSI Z87-G43 and i'm using a i5-4670 on it (yeah, 4670 without the K).
I wanted the minimum noise as possible so i bought a Noctua NH-U12P SE2
Like the pictures shows it has 2 fans.
I connected the 2 fans on cpu1 and cpu2 fan and both BIOS and Commander Center can see them correctly, but both of them can't change the rotation speed.
Those fans have a 3 pins connector.
How can i do it? Now my CPU is cool and i like it, but a little more hot for a little less noise is a good deal (and my goal!)
thank youAs alternative you can get a fan controller like Sunbeamtech Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller, it should allow to use 4pin PWM singnal and convert it into voltage control,
Quote
Product Details:
Smart Way Controlling all Fans & Airflow. The Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller is designed to make any existing 3-pin fan automatically regularized by the PWM signal from the Motherboard! With its ability to connect two fans to a single PWM connector at a maximum of 20W/channel, a wide selection of fans can be supported. When a normal fan is connected to the Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller, they become auto adjusting through the PWM signal.
The Rheosmart PCI Fan Controller operates in two different modes; when connected to a PWM-enabled motherboard you can allow the system to auto-adjust fan speed through he motherboard's temperature sensor. When switched onto manual mode by the pushing of the lever-switch to the right, you turn the connected fan onto manual control mode. -

Been using this system for a while but just two days ago I had my first BSOD. And today the second one. I was just idling on desktop.
I've downloaded Blue Screen Viewer (BSV) and the error name is System Thread Exception Not Handled
BSV saying that the first one is caused by pci.sys and the second one is caused by ndis.sys.
Also ntoskrnl.exe is involved.
Any idea what should be the real cause?
Also I can copy paste the log if you tell me which part of the dump log you need.
Looking forward to hear from you guys. Thank you

MSI Z87-GD65 random led code?
i just built a new PC using the MSI Z87-GD65 motherboard and usually the LED reads A0 which apparently is totally normal and all is well, but today randomly i noticed that the code was 03 and my PC was idle. none of my components are overclocked currently. i updated bios to v 1.8 i believe (w/e the latest one was as of 12/22/13). The only thing in the bios i changed at all was the ram from 1600 default to 1866 because that is the ram speed i purchased.
I restarted my PC and again the LED is at A0 (normal) and hasn't been 03 since. just wondering what "power on north bridge initialization" means anyways? which is what the 03 code means i think according to the manual that came with my MB purchase.0x03 North Bridge initialization before microcode loading
Something probably had to reset itself. Since there is no NB on these new platforms, I can only guess something to do with the chipset. Did you re-install the very newest ME driver after the flash? After a flash, it is recommended that the PSU power cord should be disconnected, the battery removed for awhile, and a CMOS clear performed and settings reset.
If all is normal now, no real need to do anything further at this point in time. -
MSI Z87-G43 Gaming and R9 290 OC Windforce not playing nice
Hi, already tried search but can find a solution, i have an Z87-G43 Gaming(Bios 10.30) and bought an Gigabyte R9 290 OC ref:GV-R929OC-4GD-GA(BIOS F3L). All is on latest Firmware/BIOS.
The problem is that the motherboard wont recognize my 290 on first PCIE 3. It works on second 16x slot. THe thing is... An Gigabyte 7950,Sapphire 7970, Unknown NVIDIA 7200gs all work in the first slot... now that i got bf4 my 290 doesnt work in the first slot... Latest bios from MSI say's vga compat. improved. The computer boots fine with the integrated vga and in bios it shows the first slot as empty. Anyone?Like I said best to contact both and see what you can do. When I check VBIOS for MSI cards, there are normally newer versions available, so best to check. On the other hand if it is a bios issue, MSI can get on it.

Hi Everyone,
I have had my pc for a few months now and i have been able to access my bios with no issues at all.
However, for a few days now my computer has skipped past the option to enter bios and just starts windows almost immediately. Everything ive tried to access it (ie press del or F8 etc when i power on) has not let me in. At start up the code 'A2' flashes up for a split second on a blank screen then windows starts up.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?
ThanksQuote from: jch1321 on 05-July-14, 05:26:15
Yes I had fast boot enabled. I cleared CMOS and that has solved the problem.
