MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming EIST is not working
Hi all, my EIST is not working properly, the CPU clock run between 3.7-3.9 all the time (VID 1.153 - 1.219)
Here is my setup:
Motherboard and CPU: MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming + 4770K
OS: Clean installed Win 7 SP1 with most updated driver from MSI site.
Bios version: 1.2 (All default settings)
Actually the EIST works before without installing driver ME and chipset driver from MSI site, any advices?
thanks in advance.
Hi and welcome,
to DougQuaid tip.
Allso if you have OC your system, you need to set Ratio mode to Dynamic and voltage mode to Adaptive.
Like in this picture of my BIOS settings. I marked those with yellow.
Warning: After that you shouldent stress test your CPU anymore with Prime95, Occt, or so on programs. Because they could get the MB give too much power to CPU
I just tested those (ME and Chipset) files from MSI and still get my clock and voltage down normaly.
There seams to be new official relice of BIOS 1.3v there too, so you could try that. if yours cot some bug in it.
Also make sure on task manager that your pc isnt doing anything under. Like live Spybot/virus/... -Scans.
I hope these help Cheers, Mummy

Flashing of MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING failed and dual bios not helping, not sure why?
Hi all
For the first time in 20 years Ive had a firmware flash fail it seems.
I have a MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING and updated the bios with the latest firmware via the "M-FLASH" utility within the systems bios.
All seemed to have gone well, it flashed to 100% rebooted and then just a blank screen and a sequence of keyboard light flashes.
After a minutes panic I thought not to worry, the motherboard has a dual bios. So I powered down and switched the bios switch to bios B hoping it would assist and the problem is identical.
Any tips anyone?I just tried this along with removing power from the main board and it seems one of the two did it! thanks

Checking ram that works with MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING Intel Z87 Motherbo
Was wondering if Vengeance pro series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 2400MHz C10 Memory Kit (CMY16GX3M2A2400C10R) will work good on MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING Intel Z87 Motherboard or if im gonna need to do some tweeking.
Since in the components purchasing stage for the project, a few tips for you. Check with the PSU manufacturer to make sure it is Haswell compliant. I like single rail +12V PSU's made by Corsair, but there are other good ones out there too. OS is also important. I prefer Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, but if you go with Win 8 or 7, some GTX 780 issues may arise. GOP, VBIOS, mainboard updated to the very newest UEFI/BIOS etc. can be involved. UEFI/BIOS update is a good place to start if the graphics card gives you trouble. Research as much as you can prior to the build. Advance planning helps a lot on what to possibly expect.
Here is the thread for UEFI/BIOS's;

MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming and msata speed issue...
Hi,
So I'm running the MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming with a 128GB SanDisk msata. Now it all works perfectly; no BSOD or crashes, but what I have noticed is that sometimes when the PC boots and I look in Intel Rapid Storage Technology, the msata on port 5 is running at 3Gb/s not 6Gb/s: I verified the speed loss using AS SSD benchmark. Reboot and it's back to 6Gb/s and back to full speed.
Anyone else seen this or have an idea of a solution?
ThanksQuote from: JLio01 on 06-March-15, 14:21:58
How often can you notice the problem? You mentioned AS SSD Benchmark has speed loss, what's the result of speed test then?
I notice it a couple of times a day minimum -
MSI Z87 GD65 GAMING Doesn't recognize crossfire. Help Pls.
Hello everyone, I've had several board msi brand, such as B3 P68 GD65, GD65 G3 Z68, Z68 GD80 G3, last week bought a Z87 GD65 gaming, but I can not activate the second video card, installed the amd 13.9 drivers with just one card ,rebooted and installed the second does not recognize the second card. I tested amd drivers 13.10v2 and does not work, I tested with the older amd drivers 13.4 official and does not recognize the second card.
Tested one by one each both graphical works fine.
I have the crossfire bridge connected.
I must change something in the bios? To recognize the second card? what ?
Never happened to me on msi boards such things and i haved always crossfire.

I tested one at a time in the pci-e 2 and works.
And do the same on Pci-e nº1. works fine the 2 card.
"Several possibles. If testing a card by itself in the second slot does not work, then either there is a problem with an errant standoff or other item shorting underneath the mainboard. The other most common reason is CPU socket pin(s) bent or damaged or the CPU cooler mouinted incorrectly or unevenly torqued.
I don´t believe it the pins because if you look at the GPU-Z recognizes the two cards.
And appears on device manager the to cards.
I am using SO w7 ultimate, and the board bios is the last version.
Is something else must be some setting in bios, and i don´t no...

Start upping your voltage, my chip needs [email protected] and for stability at 4.4 it needs 1.38.
Those guys on YouTube definitely got a better chip
Once you get enough voltage to boot into windows without bsod start stability testing. Make sure to set volts to override

MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING DISABLED CORE RATIO LIMIT
i am using MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING board with intel core i7-4770K
it should allow me to adjust turbo ratio/core ratio limit in the bios @ cpu features menu. already update to V1.2 bios.
unfortunately that menu is set to read-only "Auto". it makes me looks like using 4770 NON-K CPU!hahaha. no need to use exclamation mark, bro.
ok done. it is because i am confuse with some value with [Auto] and some with Auto without []
for the information, i only managed to get 44x for the 1-core ratio. if more than that, it will go to bluescreen when booting.
any idea how to solve that problem? like asus motherboard, it has PLL overvoltage to overcome ratio more than 45/46.
how about MSI? its my 1st time using MSI motherboard for the i7 family. -
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming Motherboard Booting Windows 7 Trouble
Hi guys, today I bought the MSI Z87-GD65 Mobo, 2 Sticks of 4GB RAM and the Intel i7 4770. I bought these to upgrade my old system and the only other parts im using is my Nvidia GTX570, PSU and my 2TB Seagate HDD.
Everything hardware works normal, no abnormal signs.
My problem is when it boots up, it says "find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /win7ldr. Error 15: File not found"
I've tried using my windows 7 disc and it says all my stuff is still there and the startup troubleshooter doesn't find any issues. I tried putting my RAM in properly and its in nicely. (they are in the 3rd and 4th slot though) My power is fine, its just the BIOS isn't booting it =(
-The BIOS is updated
-No Hardware faults
Note: when i press any key to continue, it comes up with GRUB4DOS and has options like: "Windows 7 with SLIC Loader (Default)"
Please help me if you know anything!Hi,

Its a fresh install of Windows 7, i had to do it to fix my original problem =/
Update: I changed the RAM and put them in the slots u suggested, no change.
Sorry, when i post my last anser, i didnt know your new problem
Sounds like old problem from time of XP to Vista.
Firsth. Take out that USB connection of your headset from PC.
Secend. Uninstall any driver that headset (or you) may have installed to your OS.
Third. Run registercleaner program.
Fourth. Shotdown PC and then start again (dont just reboot!)
Fifth. Download and/or Install drivers for that USB headset.
Sixth. Reboot that PC.
Seventh. Insert that USB connection.
I hope this helps! Cheers, Mummy
If not i would try to ubdate intel chipset drivers(if MSI ones dont work, i would go to Intel site and try them from there) and if those dont help then another reinstall of OS and member to inser USB device after installing drivers for the device. -
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming BIOS Update
Bought this setup quite a while ago, running a 4670k on the z87 gd65 gaming board and thought about trying a bit of OCing, probably just gonna try out the OC Genie for now, but i was wondering if it would be a good idea to do a BIOS update or is that not necessary? Im still running on bios 1.3 which from what i can see on the msi site is a quite old one.
Quote from: flobelix on 23-September-14, 01:02:53
No, 1.3 is too outdated. If wanting to go for latest generation vga get the latest vga (1.B):
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive (E7845IMS_1B0.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip
Thanks Flobelix, running windows 7 but i guess the procedure is still the same, are the ME drivers the chipset drivers? i downloaded the chipset drivers for my OS from the msi site (intel_chipse_9_mb.zip) or is it the "Intel Management Engine Driver+Microsoft hotfix". -
MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming+Network card.
So I bought Intel Pro 1000GT Desktop Adapter, till I tried putting in my motherboard... IT DID NOT FIT ! I have to say that its the wrong one even tho I was told that it would fit...(Best Buy told me)
If Intel Pro 1000GT is indeed the wrong card for my motherboard, which Intel Pro 1000 would definitely fit?
My reason for getting adapter is due to Killer onboard network causing my pings in the game to elevates. normally 26ms and it tenfold to 100ms+. then back down to 26ms then 56ms, so on... I even called my ISP provider they said its working as it should. I even ping test on other PC, it works flawlessy. So before switching to a different ISP (WideOutWest currently), I have to verify that everything is not on my end. I even bought myself Motorola Surfboard SB6141, and that fixed the issue I HAD before but the elevations still persist.
I would love to have someone on here help me find the best Network Card for this MSI Z87 GD65 if possible. Thanks in advance!

Not really, I've never had to use a discrete net card as the onboard (my current MB has Intel built in) has worked fine on all the MSI MBs Iv'e had over the years. I did take a quick look at newegg and they have the PCIe Intel net cards for decent price. One of the 2 should be OK I would guess.
You posted that while I was looking those up at newegg. I suppose either one should be OK. I don't see much if any difference between the two of them.
I'll get the BLK model. Hopefully its good for playing games. Thank you so much for spending time working it out with me -
Looking for a stable 4.8 ghz (4770k/MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming) BIOS tips?
Yeah I know. It's a lot of volts. But other than deliding it, which I will do soon, I'm looking for any BIOS tips on decreasing the voltage and keeping it from getting the BSOD after an hour of gaming and general use. This whole platform is new to me since my last OC'ing experience was with socket 775/X38.
One approach I was thinking to take is using Aida64's stress test by individually stressing the cpu, cache and memory seperately since all the controllers are individual entities now. That way if the cache is crashing from lack of voltage maybe I can come down on the vcore, or maybe turn off XMP and run at 1333mhz, etc.. If you guys have any BIOS tips I would appreciate the help. Yeah I can do 4.5/1.26 all day long but what fun is that? Thanks!
Current BIOS: E7845IMS V1.1
Build date: 4/26/2013
ME Version 9.0.2.1345
4.8 ghz/1.445V/2.0VCCIN/4.0Ring/1.2RingV/Enabled XMP profile, VDimm to 1.59. Undelided. Only ran Aida for 30 min on cpu test. Max core temps of 82C.
Another useful guide getting me to 4.8 was this:Quote

Hijack the thread with next to useless replies, sing praises of brand-X, and then the responses are considered not nice? As xmad recommended, open a new thread with all of your systems components. From watching an uncle overclock his MSI Z87 to 50X on air cooling, it was relatively simple with some very slow and careful bits of trial and error done in small increments. It's a poor workman that blames his tools, think of it as a challenge if nothing else.
