MSN customized homepage will no longer load completely with Firefox4.

Since adding Firefox 4, our MSN homepage with added features no longer completely loads. "Clicking" on tabs or other links from the homepage will also not work...ie, when trying to change encoding, I can't click on the different options...they just do not work. I've cleared cache and cookies and set our settings to "No Proxy". Any suggestions?

You cannot set a home page in Safari so I assume that you mean that you have a shortcut to msn.com that will not open or the web page itself doesn't open.
Try this.
Quit the Safari app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
And do this as well. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Clearing history is not a necessity, but clear cookies and data.

  • 10.4.5 installed from download and Entourage will no longer load completely

I have updated from 10.4.4 to 10.4.5 using download from apple.com. On restarting, attempt to start Entourage gets "could not open that feature - end of file was reached". All Entourage has loaded except the dropdown menus on the Mail page are not there (and therefore Mail cannot be used) and cannot access stored emails, although the folder title list is there - Mail downloads emails automatically, but they cannot be accessed. I repeated the update, but no change.

Let me take a pot-shot and say what a horrible program Entourage is... it's like the Yugo of email clients... lots and lots and lots of attempted features that only work half the time. It's like the fat kid who eats you out of house and home. Sorry, but that program was the cause of considerable time wasted this week at work and I for one wouldn't cry a bit if the whole thing vaporized.
Here's what you should check: have you updated to the latest version of Entourage -- version 11.2.1. There are updates available on Microsoft's site. In typical Microsoft fashion, 11.2.1 is actually the program that version 11 SHOULD have been. It's a lot more stable and actually offers some features that make it work with the Exchange environment for which it was designed -- feature conspicuously absent from the straight Entourage 2004 (v. 11) release.
If you are having problems launching it, try deleting your Entourage preference files. In one severe case, I had to delete all Microsoft Office files from a drive before Entourage would work correctly... this includes a move/rename of your Microsoft User Data, deletion of all preference files from ~/Library AND the deletion of legacy preference files from any OS 9 System Folder. Then reinstall... but try the simple preference thing first, it might clear things up. Also, try rebuilding your mailbox by holding down the option key when you launch the program.
Mail version 2 is unfortunately not constructed of the same rugged simplicity as Mail version 1, so it has some annoying problems. Delete your preference file from there too (again, it's in your home directory --> Library --> Preferences). That's the only thing I've ever had to do fix a Mail setup.
Watch your connection types, too. In general IMAP is a far simpler connection and generates far few problems than connecting with Microsoft's top-heavy Exchange protocol. It's worth it to write down all your connection settings in the event of you having to re-enter them after trashing a preference file.

  • Firefox will no longer open completely. My home page appears, but I can't do anything with it. See "details" box for full description.

Firefox will no longer open completely. My home page appears, but I can't do anything with it--can't use "Help," can't search the Web, can't even use "Sign Out." I have to close it entirely to get out of it. A box comes up and says "Yahoo Mail is loading especially slowly" and tells me my computer speed is slow. But this is the same computer I've always used for Firefox, and Yahoo comes up quickly and completey through Internet Explorer (which is how I'm sending this message). Can anyone help me load Firefox so that it works? I even downloaded the latest version of Firefox, but it makes no difference. Thanks.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
You can also try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

I found a fix for this, not only firefox but several other networking programs were broken as well (Outlook and IE were ok for some reason) so I reasoned that the Norton uninstall was incomplete somehow - I had done it from the add/remove programs in the control panel. Sure enough that's not enough to release Norton's tentacles in your system, there's an uninstall tool on their website (a whole set of them actually) that managed to carve it out completely and after a restart everything was back to normal. My machines will definitely be Norton-free from now on ... N

  • Itunes will no longer load on my computer.  I tried reloading it, but that did not work either

Itunes will not longer load, how do I troubleshoot the issue?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Firefox will hang on a website then everything else will no longer load and forces me to close and open firefox to get it to work.

As the question says I am having several issues with Firefox lately. I've tried disabling every addon, disabling JavaScript, running it in safe mode - no addons. Nothing seems to work.
I'll be on pandora listening to music, I open a new tab and go to a site like facebook. If that page does not load or hangs, my browser will no longer allow me to go to any other site until I close and open the browser. (Of course closing the tab that caused the issue). This happens about 10+ times every day, and I've supported firefox for years but this issue just keeps getting worse. It started when I upgraded to FireFox 6.

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
