MSN is asking me to update my browser. How?

My MSN homepage is telling me I must update my browser. How do I do that?

Hi there Newshawk100,
Since Safari is a built in app, you can update it via Software Update. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Need to stop fire fox from asking me to update my browser how do I do this

Fire Fox keeps telling me I need to update my browser, newer browser is not compatible with my banking system. I updated and could not access my bank account, so I went back to previous version but I keep getting notice to update it is very annoying, how do I stop this.

You should always use the latest Firefox version for your daily browsing to have the best protection.
If you really need to use an older Firefox version for specific websites then either install this older version alongside of the current Firefox release by doing a custom install and creating a new profile and desktop shortcut or by using a portable Firefox version.
    See:
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Shortcut_to_a_specific_profile
You can install a portable (ESR) Firefox version to access websites that do not work with the current Firefox release.
The portable version comes with its own profile folder and doesn't interfere with the currently installed release version.

  • Running snow leopard 10.6.8,safari 5.1.10-yahoo mail keeps asking me to update my browser but there's no link. Does it think I'm running Mavericks or what;s going on. Have carried out updates

    Running Snow Leopard 10.6.7 & Safari 5.1.10
Problem is with Yahoo mail which keeps asking me to update my Safari browser but everything is up to date as far as I can tell. Have reset Safari & empties cache.
But no change- every time I go to open Yahoo mail it goes to a page with update boxes for Firefox & Safari asking me to upgrade but on hitting Safari upgrade box it just takes me to an Apple page that explains the benefits of the new Safari ( Mavericks maybe ) with no option to upgrade. Can anyone suggest an answer to this annoyance.
    Thanks very much,
    Dino.

Your post is pretty lengthy and I have to admit I didn't read it all. Please try restarting in Safe Mode, if that doesn't work please do both a SMC and PRAM reset. These may take 2-3 attempts.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • So For The 3rd TIME WHEN I'VE PLEADINGLY ASKED NOT TO UPDATED Why Does FF Update My Browser?

You see, I've asked this same question twice before, because Firefox has once again for the third time updated by browser DESPITE MY PLEADING REQUEST TWICE BEFORE NOT TO DO SO. but now I have a platform to make Firefox's DISHONESY public, putting them to task for specifically defying a very adamant request, NOT TO UPDATE MY BROWSER, CIRCUMSTANCES THAT have consistently, repeatedly occurred throughout all the years I've been with Firefox since 2005.
Why is it that Firefox deliberately continues to defy, ignore the wishes of its most loyal customers inflame me beyond words, when I've repeatedly made it KNOWN QUITE WELL NOT TO HAVE MY BROWSER UPDATED.
BUT NOW AFTER ALL THIS TIME, TOGETHER WITH THE INSIGHT I HAVE ACCRUED AS AN IT INDUSTRY SPECIALIST I do very well know why Firefox CONTINUES THIS PRACTICE WITH ABANDON.
1.They don't like anyone fooling around with the about:config (then why did you ever include it in the first place) the way I do.
    2. They don't like anyone making incompatible add-ons extensions COMPATIBLE again the way I do.
    3. They don't like anyone tampering with Firefox the way I do.
And all Firefox has to do to nullify all the meticulous hard work I spend changing about:config. configurations to accommodate my own and my company's needs and all the hard work. spending time enabling newly incompatible extensions I need to work as efficiently and effectively as possibleamong other things that I've tweaked, WHICH I EXACTLY WHAT YOU DO FOR THE REASONS I GAVE. YOU DO IT deliberately, spitefully so. And that is the definitive reason for YOUR total defiance in disregarding a customer's request. Additionally, YOU, fIREFOX feel that since YOU wrote the code, and own the code, YOU can insist USERS follow the Firefox protocols exactly as YOU demand.
Another example of YOUR dictatorial approach to browsing the web is that that YOU feel no one should dare take a gander at content that is not up to the standards of WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS purity AND ANY OTHER CONTENT CORRUPTING THE MORALS OF OUR YOUTH.
In one of the instances in which my browser was updated despite my adamant position against it, SOMEONE IN YOUR ORGANIZATION deleted several STRICTLY STRAIGHT adult sites from my bookmarks.
SO NOW, NOT ONLY DO you HAVE AN INTRUSIVE BIG BROTHER ATTITUDE THAT NO ONE DARE DEVIATE FROM THE OFFICIAL FIREFOX BROWSING PROTOCOLS BUT NOW YOU'VE IMPLEMENTED A CENSORING CAMPAIGN ON WHAT YOU CAN READ, LOOK AT OR SIMPLY BOOKMARK.
BUT IT GETS WORSE, MUCH WORSE.THE LAST TWO TIMES YOU UPDATED MY BROWSER AGAINST MY WISHES, YOU GAVE ME THE LAMEST MOST ASININE, INSULTING, MORONIC REASON WHY YOU UPDATED IT TWICE BEFORE AS IF THEY WERE MERELY EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT OTHERWISE WOULD NEVER HAVE VIOLATED YOUR CUSTOMER'S PRIVACY AS WELL AS BEING DEFIANT, ARROGANT AND JUST PLAIN TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. BUT NOW IN ADDITION TO PROVING YOURSELVES TO BEING SOCIOPATH MEGALOMANIACS YOU'VE ALSO REVEALED YOURSELVES TO BEING ABSOLUTE CHRONIC LIARS.
AND THAT IS BECAUSE I'M IN CHARGE OF MY COMPANY'S IT DEPARTMENT AND HAVE MANY COMPUTERS UNDER MY CONTROL AND SUPERVISION. I'VE ONLY RECENTLY SWITCHED OVER SOME OF OUR COMPUTERS FROM IE TO FIREFOX AS A TEST AND I AM PRIVY TO WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON AMONG THE COMPUTERS THAT HAVE BEEN USING FIREFOX AS A TEST STUDY.
AND WHILE THE TRUTH BEING WHAT IT IS, YOU MADE SURE NOT TO MESS WITH MY BROWSER, AS IT IS CLEARLY CONFIGURED NOT TO BE UPDATED, WHICH TO YOUR CREDIT, YOU HAD GIVEN IT A WIDE BERTH, BUT YOU DID SINISTERLY UPDATE SIX COMPUTERS THAT WERE PART OF OUR TEST STUDY
THAT HAD THE SAME BROWSER CONFIGURATION REQUEST NOT TO BE UPDATED BUT WHICH YOU UPDATED NEVERTHELESS. THESE COMPUTERS WERE PART OF A PRODUCTIVITY STUDY WHICH BY UPDATING IT SET THE ENTIRE LITTLE EXPERIMENT OF OURS BACK A BIT.
SO, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH YOU? I REALLY HAVE TO THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT HOW I RESPOND TO AN ORGANIZATION THAT HAS SHOWN NOTHING BUT THE WORST SORT OF APATHY, DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES I'VE SEEN SINCE BEING IN THE IT INDUSTRY.

Firefox never forces updates on me. I set three settings in the about:config window.
    <pre>app.update.auto = false
    app.update.enabled = false
    app.update.silent = false</pre>

  • Firefox preview browser keeps asking for flash update?

My html opens fine in EI preview but when I try to open it in
Firefox preview it asks me to update the Flash software. I have
install and uninstall four time and the adobe site says I have the
latest software loaded. Why am I getting this message. I can view
Firefox Flash on other sites but not in Dreamweaver software.
    Please advise....anyone?

Are you running a local testing server or are you just
    previewing the page?
Also, what type of Flash are you trying to run? What version
    did you save it as?
Are we talking about Mac or Windows?
Have you tried to run this in another browser to ensure it is
    just Firefox?

  • Firefox Developer Edition constantly asks me to update

I am using Firefox Developer Edition 37.0a2 and every start of browser is asks me to update to version 37.0a2. Even when I click to update it is trying to connect to the server and that is only thing that I see.
I did run firefox in safe mode. The result is the same.
I copied my old profile from firefox 35 to firefox 37.0a2. Is there some file with firefox version name or something else is provoking this error?

I think the rebranding was a good idea.
I am all for increased promotion for testing pre release versions it helps users identify & report problems to. It enables users to see new features earlier.
The only disadvantage is the danger of attracting novice or naive users that are going to have problems but not report them or being unable to downgrade to a working release. The Developer Edition sidesteps the last issue as it is a separate install with its own profile, and the name will put off novices.

Please select and install one of the browsers below.

    Please do the following:<br><br>
#In the location bar at the top, type: '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, copy/paste the following: '''general.useragent.override''' This will display a blank page.<br><br>

  • Why am I always asked to re-fresh my browser when using Hotmail?

    Hello,
I have Firefox 3.6, Windows 7 Home Premium.
When I am in Hotmail and viewing my emails, I am asked repeatedly to refresh my browser window. I keep getting this message:
"Please refresh your browser window. When you access your Windows Live Hotmail account from more than one computer, we ask you to sign in again to help keep your account private and secure. "
The trouble is I have only used one computer, have only one computer, and no other users have ever used my Hotmail account.
No matter how many times I refresh my browser, whether using my inbox refresh key, or my browser refresh key, I keep getting the same above message over-and-over again.
I have change my theme, checked for updates, searched the help forums, and still no success.
    Please help.
    Thank you

    Hello Firefox,
Perhaps you need to make Hotmail and Fire Fox friends, or at least business associates. It shouldn't matter that Hot Mail is an IE platform email server.
What matters, is that you create a "plug in" that solves this problem.
It also appears that many people are having this problem.
Thank you to everyone for your replies.

  • Firefox has been asking everyday to update to the latest version. When I said ok it said that my Google bar wasn't compatible so I declined the update for weeks.

You seem to have Firefox 5.0 already installed and the Google toolbar will not work with that version or any future version of Firefox. Firefox 5.0.1 is the current version. Firefox 6 is scheduled to be released (replacing Firefox 5.0.1) on 08-16-2011 (subject to change).
Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox beyond Firefox 4. <u>Future versions of Google toolbar will only work with IE7-9. Google Toolbar is not available on any other browser, even Google's own browser.</u>

  • Comcast wanted me to update my browser, I tried the firefox set up 5.0 exe Mozilla but don't think I have it installed. last night

I tried to update my browser, because Comcast asked me to to do that, so I could get their Xfinity Connect, instead of Xfinity Connect Lite, which I don't like, they said I was running on an older browser or operating system that is not supported by the standard Xfinity Communication Center application, in that case, you will automatically be redirected to the Xfinity Connect Lite version.

i understand. google doesn't use that link anymore. i will consider your answer a fix then. :\

What Mac model do you have? You might be able to upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5.
Even browsers for Tiger 10.4 will get the update message.
You could try a newer browser than Safari, which is obsolete, by downloading Firefox v2.0.0.20 at http://www.oldapps.com/mac/firefox.php

I closed my laptop, not shut down. I re-opened the laptop a few hours later, and it wants restoring?? Whats going on?! i want my iphone back! PLEASE HELP. I'M LOST!!! (I synced my iphone to my computer if that helps at all).

Yes, and, I try to restore. I have the T-Mobile sim card in it just to clarify. It will not let me get passed that, it does not accept the t-mobile sim card. i tried restoring it using wifi, cellular, and i cant get i tunes. I am scared that if i take the tmobile sim card out and put the at&t one in just to complete the restoration process that the iphone will lock again and not read the tmobile sim card, then all my hard work has gone for nothing. ( this whole process was caused by me trying wanting to empty my pictures onto my computer because i did not have any storage space left). <--- that may not be as important, but i included it just because.

  • I'm running Firefox 7 beta. Upon start up it asks me to update it, but when I go to the direct site it says that I'm already updates. Is there a 7.1 that I need to download? I can't find it.

When I start Firefox 7 beta in the morning it will tell me that I need to update it for security reasons. I hit "ask me later" and go to the Mozilla site to check to see if it is a valid update. The Mozilla site says my Firefox is already up to date. Is someone trying to get me to download something I shouldn't, like a virus? Or is it an actual update. I can't find anything about 7 beta updates.

  • I'm unable to access my yahoo email account using updated firefox browser, i keep getting error page when I use the mail link on yahoo pages

Since updating Firefox browser, i am unable to gain access to my yahoo email account. I can access the email with Interent Explorer with no trouble. Whenever I click on a mail link on the yahoo sites to check my mail, I get rerouted to an error page ..... "Sorry, we can't find "ca.mg4.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?.gx=1". Please check the spelling of the web address." is what is said at top of page whenever I click on any mail links.

This is how I fixed it on my new iPhone 5S. Using the standard yahoo setting on my phone.
You will have to access  "managing your app passwords" on your account profile for yahoo. Generate password for your app. For example: "My iPhone 5S'
Go to your Iphone and set up your yahoo mail account on your phone the normal way and you have to use the generated password.  instead of the yahoo account password.
