Msn Messenger For Mac

Why does the Messenger Mac looks like an oldest version compared to windows. Does anyone know a n msn messenger mac which stands on the same ground as windows.

There are several alternatives to MSN Messenger for Mac. Some of them, like aMSN and Mercury, support a webcam.
But not all messengers are ready for Intel yet.
Currently the only messenger which is made universal, is Fire (but this one lacks features like webcam support).
On the other hand, a java based messenger like Mercury should be able to run on Intel.

that usuall happens when you are not connected to the internet. if you were running wifi your connection could have been lost for a moment and then recovered.

  • Msn Messenger for Mac wont sign in after upgrade

Ive just upgraded to tiger 10.4.9. Now for some reason my msn wont sign in. I run parallels, and xp as the guest OS and msn will not sign in on the guest either. Seems to be a port issue. Anyone else experienced this, or know how to testfix it?
    Conor

The current version of Microsoft Messenger is 6.0.2, which was released on January 30th, 2007. It works fine on my computer, although sometimes it won't sign in on the first try, but the second attempt always succeeds, even after the 10.4.9 update.
It wasn't working on a friend's computer the other day. The problem turned out to be that an older version was installed at the root of the drive, which caused MSN Messenger to immediately crash after signing in every time. Deleting this older version resolved the problem.
You might also try deleting or renaming the plist files associated with MSN Messenger located in your home directory in Library/Preferences/Microsoft. Note this is NOT the Library directory at the root level of your drive, but the Library directory inside your home folder.

  • Can't connect to msn messenger for mac OSX

    thanks, regards

    Hello there,
I would like to say, you are not alone. I have upgraded to live messenger 6.0 tonight. And fail to get online from this new version as well.
I don't think its our mistake. But there must be something wrong with the software. Curious whats the solution, or if they will release a new version....

  • Msn messenger for mac help????

when sending files, the transfer is considerably slower on my mac using mac messenger than if i were on a windows pc on windows messenger sending files
any reasons or suggestions for this? how to resolve this???
this is a long problem of mine and i would much appreciate ANY help

Since Messenger is not an Apple product, you'll get better response if you use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?sel=33607053> rather than an Apple forum that focuses on Mac/Windows compatibility.
Be sure to search the forum first in case someone has already had a similar question answered. You'll get your answer faster this way. Post your question in the forum if you don't find anything that helps you.

  • Msn messenger for Mac won't open mail in Safari.

It say i got the wrong password but i don't.
Can login on the mail in browser but not through msn program. Find no answer anywhere online.

Same issue with me. I click on mail from Messenger and it opens the login page for hotmail saying incorrect password. If i manually type in my password its fine but it no longer automatically logs in. I tried re-entering my password in the MSN app but it still has the same issue. I dont think its browser related as its happening with Safari, Chrome and Firefox.
It happened over the past few weeks and I have no idea how to fix it. Anyone have this problem and have any solutions?

  • Unable to quit Messenger for Mac

    Hey there,
I hope this is the right forum for this question.
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.3 but I'm pretty new to Mac's so even basic stuff seems difficult to me apparently - like software-updating. To install the software-upgrades I need to restart the computer, but when I try that it tells me that that is impossible because MSN Messenger for Mac is running. Now the problem is, that I can't shut down that program. I've tried closing it - doesn't work, just freezes. I've tried uninstalling it by dragging it to the Trash-bin which doesn't work because MSN is open. Most recent I've tried AppZapper to uninstall it, with same results as every other try.
I'm running Messenger for Mac version 8 Beta.
Is there a way for me to uninstall it that I haven't thought of? Or any other way to deal with this problem?
    Thanks for helping a newbie

    I've tried closing it
Have you tried quitting out of the app or *Force Quit?*
Is there a way for me to uninstall it that I haven't thought of?
    It's possible - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11702423&#11702423
Or any other way to deal with this problem?
Contact MSN tech support or post in their forum area since it's their product & not Apple's - http://www.officeformac.com/ProductForums/MacMessenger/

  • Is it possible to use iSight with Messenger for Mac?

I have been racking my brain on how to get iSight to work with my friends on Window messenger. The video option is not available. I've had my macbook for 2 months now and, after working/giving up and going back again cannot seem to get it to jive. Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, flowerlove
The answer here will depend on the specifics of what you want to do.
Both Microsoft Messenger for Mac and the older MSN Messenger for Mac are text only apps. You can not use iSight with either. Please let us know if you mean some different "Messenger" software.
This Windows Messenger does not appear to offer video, even for PCs. If this is the application your friends are using, no video work with it.
For a built-in iSight video connection with PC contacts who only connect via Windows Live Messenger or other clients of the MSN Messenger server, you can select from these alternatives:
    (1) Because your MacBook can use Boot Camp or Parallels to run Windows XP software on your MacBook, you can choose which method you want to use, add the required software (if you have not already done so), and then install and use the same Windows instant messenger application that your contacts are using to do video.
    (2) and (3) In addition to Niel's good "aMSN" suggestion, you can also try Mercury Messenger for Mac. Either can work with OS X for video and text chat. They offer the same features, but neither offers audio connections.  Use whichever one of these two you find more reliable or easiest to use if you do not want to add Windows XP to your iNtel Mac,.

What are your Firewall settings? (System Preferences -> Security -> Firewall)
If the firewall is set to Allow Essential Services, you will need to change the settings to _Set access for specific services and applications_ and then add those applications to allow incoming connections.
    Hope that helps.

  • Messenger for Mac Help!!  (I don't know if this is the right place to ask)

    Hi everyone.
I have Messenger for Mac, and I think you know already but I've been trying to get rid of my messenger accounts at the log in screen and I've tried everything!!!! it's not working at all!!
It's nothing like Windows computers with their msn and I don't know how to delete mine!!
    PLEASE HELP ME!
    Also, I have Mac OS X v. 10.5.5
    So I hope that helps.

Rename each file to end in .rtf, and then open TextEdit. Save three new documents to your desktop with the same name as each file the Finder reports as being in use, and then overwrite the existing documents. Throw away the TextEdit files.
