MSN Messenger Links Please Add

Hello Everyone,
Been learning java non stop for the last few weeks,
what a great language :-)...
Just thinking how beneficial and nice if i could chat
to other Java programmers as ive been self teaching
myself from many books and was wondering if anyone
would want to add my MSN account to theirs to allow
topic discussions when ever one of us is online.

Any Java lover please add, be interesting and an
invaulable asset to learn from one another.I appreciate your motivation but I also seriously feel that this forum is already providing more than what you are asking for. You might add a few to your IM but here you have hundreds all the time logged in to share so login to this forum more often ;)

MSN MESSENGER probelms please help!

Hello.
I have msn messenger for mac and EVERY SINGLE TIME I SIGN ON there are always requests that show up OVER AND OVER again after I have accepted them a million times!!!
And now when people sign on I don't even know that they did! and I checked the preferences for show a pop up window thing at the bottom right hand side of my screen and STILL IT DOESN'T SHOW!!!
What is wrong??!!

I have recently switched over to a Mac from a PC and at first had no problems with it. Recently, however, every time I shut down my computer MSN Messenger disappears from my applications folder, as well as from the bar at the bottom of the screen. I've looked everywhere for it and cannot find it, have even searched the computer and nothing comes up-- as if it's been deleted. I then re-download it from the web, at which point I'm asked if I would like to use the new messenger just downloaded or the one in the applications folder, yet if I choose the option of the one in the applications folder it again isn't there. I have been through this process at least 7 or 8 times and because I am new to Mac I'm not sure if I'm just not looking in the right place to find MSN (wherever it has disappeared to after shut down) or if there is something else I should be doing. Any thoughts?

WebCam No Longer Works In MSN Messenger. PLEASE HELP!

I have had the Webcam Instant for about a year and a half now. It has worked all the way up until last week when we moved my computer. It works in the Creative Webcam Center but when I try to use it on MSN it says that it either is not plugged in or Im using it in some other program. and when it says that I never have Creative Webcam open. What do I do?!? Please Help ASAP

first things to do is uninstall anything regarding to the camera ... clean registry and so on with some tools like tuneup utilties ... and then reinstall with the latest drivers.
Then it should work.
If this doesnt help unistall messenger and reinstall....
I think there is no way to rewrite all settings which can be wrong without uninstalling and cleaning ...

MSN Messenger help please!!

I have been running the latest version of Messenger on my macbook for at least a month now...
But NOW, the program will let me log on, but if I try to do anything else (ex. change screen name, change my online status, start a convo) it immediately shuts down and gives me an error message saying: MSN suddenly stopped running, no other Mac applications were affected.
Have already tried un-installing and re-downloading...same problem continues.
Has this happened to anyone else, and what should I do??

Have you trashed all the Messenger preference files?
Since Messenger is not an Apple product, you'll get better response if you use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?sel=33607053> rather than an Apple.
Be sure to search the forum first in case someone has already had a similar question answered. You'll get your answer faster this way. Post your question in the forum if you don't find anything that helps you.

Msn messenger sent out a unknown link from my macbook to everyone on list ?

I just purchase my macbook last week. Lots of my friend told me that they got a unknown link from my mssenger, and told me I might got virus.
There's nothing wrong showing on my mac. but I am really worried.
Is that a virus? what should I do to make sure there's no virus in my mac to steal my infomation..etc.
and will that unknown link hurt my friend's PC?

I think it's sort of spyware or adware, where it seems to take over ur comp, I had this when i was using msn messenger on windows, but wow now u have this on ur mac, try using different IM software, like Adium, aMsn, see whether the problem is still happening. Yes, It can affect ur friends who receive and install the software given in the message but if they just receive the message and close it, i think it wouldn't be a problem to them.

Trying to download MSN messenger please help

I have just bought a Mac book Pro and am clueless on how to use it. I am also useless on computers and have no idea what I'm doing.
I have been trying to download Lime wire and MSN messenger but have been told I need to download a compression file. I downloaded Stuffit Expander but I still am unable to download MSN and Limewire. It simply says:
"The Limewirewin.ex does not appear to be compressed or encoded. It is adviced that you obtain further information about the contents of this file from the sender or provier of the file."
No idea what this means please help me, and make it simple please!!!

Logging in with MSN Messenger - please help!

I really hope somebody can help, I've been trying to get iChat to work with my MSN Messenger contacts for about 2 weeks now and have trawled through the advice on this forum but nothing has worked properly.
I've tried Ralph Jones (I think)' helpful advice, been through the top three links and registered with Jabber about 5 times but no success. If you are reading please help Ralph!
The first time I tried it, it did work and I spoke with somebody for a few minutes, however then it came up with an error that said 'Not available' when I tried to send a message. Since then all my contacts have showed as 'Waiting for Authorization' but this status never changes. I think I've tried everything - I've tried different servers on the third link, I've tried the UK one (I'm in the UK) but nothing seems to work.
Please help! This is the final step as every other application I've got working fully!

I used Psi to set up my Jabber name and transport on Jabber.org.uk
Then I added that Jabber screen name as an Jabber account in the iChat Preferences > Accounts
Like you I find that sometimes they seem to stay at Not Authorised.
Check with the Psi app that the Transport is active.
Also contact Gil Taylor in table 2

Please add a "link" or "share" button to replies / answers for easier referencing and linking.

Currently, the only ways to link to a specific reply or answer are:
Hunt through the poster's activity page and look for the link to the post in question, or
Inspect the post's HTML, extract the ID from the enclosing <li> tag, then manually construct the URL by adding it as an anchor to the top level URL.
Example: https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/4fb9d481-741f-49ea-9059-ff1757ead511#b7e0c275-0645-4c3b-a314-480cb89ef04c was
constructed using method 2. See that link for a discussion related to this topic.
These both stink. A forum, especially one as full of information and as frequently cited as this one, really ought to have an easier way to link to specific replies.
Please add a "link" or "share" button (or something similar) that generates a URL that links directly to the post. Perhaps it could go down next to the action links (reply, quote, etc) or over near the vote button.
If one exists, I apologize but I have not been able to find it (and at least one moderator - the one who replied in the example link I just posted - is also unaware of it). This forum has been around long enough that I'm a bit surprised it does not have
this yet.

Sorry, not possible.
I want to correct myself. There is an old "hack" that still seems to work, which is to create a link to a file, but instead of pointing it to a file you point it to a folder. But Acrobat only lets you select a folder when you create such a link, so how to do it? Create a Word document with such a hyperlink and then use the PDFMaker plugin to convert the file to a PDF. This side-steps the Acrobat limitation and gives you a link to a folder, which when clicked will open it in Windows Explorer.
As I said, it's a bit of a hack and it's possible it will stop working if Adobe ever decides to block it, so use it with care.

Please add the option to be able to upload/link new pdfs with the in-browser editing. I have a restaurant client who is constantly updating their menu! Please help so they can do this themselves!

My Creative Cam wont work properly in MSN Messenger! I cant get the effects to work PLEASE HELP!

When I open the webcam centre everything works fine I can get all the effects...BUT when I open messenger (MSN) I get a good picture but when I open the effects window I cant get the effects to work in there.... I went to the creative site which tells me I can use this cam ok in MSN Messenger....Please help before I pull my hair outThankyouBillie-Jean x

I had the exact same issue but finally after much reading found that the Advanced Video FX utility must be activated first, then open the Web Cam Center.
On the upper left side just above your image is a Device Selection box. You may not redily recognize it as such.. Click on the down arrow just to the left of the Format tab and select the "Creative WebCam(With Video Effects)". Now try the effects. This did the trick for me. Hope it works for you!

Which Msn Messenger app are you using? There are several in the app store. And does it support the iPad's camera? Info on the apps page should state that clearly if it does.

MSN Messenger on E65 (3 subscriber) - help, please...

I'm having trouble with signing in to MSN Messenger on my new E65.
I've managed to make it work a couple of times but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.
It goes like this:
I start the sign-in process
It asks me to select an access point
I select one
It goes to a screen saying "Verifying User Name and Password"
Then it says "Signed in Successfully"
At that point, anyone who has me on their contact list can see that I'm online.
Unfortunately, I then get another message saying "select an access point". I can't enter in any messages, I can't see my contacts list. There are only two options at this point. I can select an access point (a waste of time, since I'm connected already - all this does in effect is disconnect me and starts the cycle again) or I can click "back" which disconnects me anyway. There's a third option - do nothing - which just results in me being cut off anyway after a few seconds.
Anyone else experienced this or, more to the point, found out how to fix it?

This was good point mentioned by someone (access point is always prompted) So i trust that statement. You don't accidentally get data transfer costs (which is very positive indeed)
Why don't you keep MSN always active in background?
In device there is only general setting, asked or same one used to everything. I've just noticed prompt is the best (even a bit annoying sometimes). Again, problem is in application if connection does not stay up (prompted only when connecting)
Though there are bugs in mail also. Connection just wont stay up, have to connect again and again and again..
Cancel will definetally cause problems if target is to connect

MSN Messenger display pic

Hey all, I'm new to Mac's so I'm sorry if this question/problem has already been posted, but I just installed MSN Messenger on my MacBookPro and when I try to add a display picture into the messenger, an alert comes up saying, "please make sure the file is in the correct format". Well all of my pictures that I have tried have all been in JPEG/JPG formats. I even tried re-saving the picture and then importing it into the messenger display pic, and that still didn't work.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I'd be greatly appreciated if you could help me out

Accessing Hotmail with Safari from button in MSN Messenger.

I have just bought a new iBook and have installed MSN messenger on it which I use a lot. However, sometimes when I click the link to get to my Hotmail inbox, Safari opens but keeps repeating accessing the same links that always appear as you enter your inbox and goes round and round in circles, never getting to my Hotmail, with the screen staying blank.
I know there is no issue with my personal Hotmail account as if I then open Internet Explorer I can access my hotmail. It's a really weird problem which I never experienced on my old iMac.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I) Go to Hotmail, Messenger, My MSN
I delete all cookies after, signing out, so I start with none, before signing in it is possible this helps to avoid the circle of errors some get. In Safari 1 use to have to enable cookies to Always to sign out of Hotmail.
2) click on the one which best describes your account for example My MSN
for me ( this is a free Passport hotmail account )
3) Log in to My MSN/ Messenger or Hotmail , I have to log in again to get to hotmail, after logging into My MSN.
4) Or you can click Windows Live ID just under "Sign in using enhanced security" you can choose to: "Use the Passport Network to sign in to MSN Messenger, MSN Hotmail, MSN Music, and other sites and services! The Passport Network works with Windows Live ID. It's free to access the Passport Network. After you sign up and create credentials, you can sign in on any site that displays Microsoft Passport Network or Windows Live ID". I have not done this, so i do not know how it works.
Logging in has change at least 3 times in the last two weeks, still I have been able to log in & using Safari. Hope this helps. please let me know since this has been an on going issue for many users. I have posted to this somewhat & I would like to know if it works. Thx.

How do I set up MSN Messenger account in Messages?

Apologies if this is an over asked question, but...
I understand the 'whys' of how Messages cannot integrate with MSN Messenger, and I have been searching everywhere for a solution. I keep coming across posts by Ralph that lead me to a set up instructions page using Jabber. However, this just leads me to a 404. I went to register on Jabber, but there is a message saying that the servers would be turned off on 15th March!
Surely this can be done, so if any bright spark out there can shed some light on this for me, I can get to using Messages and get rid of Adium!

I did used to post a Link to the All Forces Site but the subpages do not load for some reason and you get the 404 message.
I did find another set recently for another post but now can't find it again.
Basically you have to create a Jabber account on a Jabber server that has an MSN transport (or Gateway)
As well as logging in to the Jabber server you need to login to the Transport as well and also link this to Your MSN account.
Buddies are added to your Buddy list as UserName%[email protected]
Basically it adds all the servers to the name and swaps out the first @
