Msn messenger on iPhone 3GS

Does anyone know if its possible to run msn messenger on iphone3gs?? i know you can access meebo and some other sites, but is there like an app for it?

I don't believe Microsoft has developed an MSN messenger app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
I believe there are a number of 3rd party IM clients such as Meebo that support accessing an MSN messenger account along with other IM accounts through other providers such as AOL, etc.

Any idead if there is or will be msn messenger for iphone?

I'm just guessing here, but I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a chat application that will work much like trillian - covering all chat programs. I've seen already "hacked" versions out there that work with MSN ( I haven't hacked my phone since I'm patient enough to wait ) so I'm sure there will be "legit" ones to follow.
I'm still not sure of the usefulness of this on a cell phone. I had AIM on my black berry, and I didn't use it as much as I thought I would ... and I'm on a chat program all the time when in front of a computer.

In a nutshell, you can't get it on the 3GS, must have iOS 7 or later.
I highly recommend getting a 4S or newer phone.

  • Windows Live Messenger/MSN Messenger on iPhone 3G

anyone know how to play Windows Live Messenger or MSN in iPhone 3G? thanks..

There is not a specific Microsoft Messenger app in the App Store (there's an AOL IM client now, for example). There are 3rd party apps that work with MSN chat servers - here are two (both are direct links to the iTunes Store):
    Palringo (free):

  • ANY MSN MESSENGER FOR iPHONE?

...Which isn't web based, because with the web based msn messanger you have to keep Refreshing to check if someone has sent you a new message or not :s

    You should consider Meebo: http://wwwe.meebo.com/
I don't need to refresh to get my message.

  • Why the msn messenger doesn't work on iphone

why msn messenger doesn't work with my iphone

M$ will never give code to people to compile it for the iPhone (M$ hates open source stuff) and they probably want people to use Windows Mobile, of which MSN is a feature.
Mercury/aMSN may one day be ported to iPhone (when Apple does the SDK in Feb) and Apple may even do an iChat for it. You can still use web-based communicators in the meantime.
Also, you may be surprised to know your iPhone functions as a phone - why not call the people you wanna talk to?

  • I have an iPhone 3GS and in the past 2 days I've gotten 5 emails saying that someone has logged in to my apple ID from an iphone 3gs using iMessage...

So, yes I do have an iPhone 3gs and yes it might be me who logs in bla bla bla, point is... I have not used iMessage as I don't know how to. Also, I have not logged into my Apple ID account through it as I have not been asked to log in, nor have I downloaded any Apps lately that would require me to put my login info into my phone.
I tried fixing this yesterday by changing my password, which I did, but I keep getting said emails... how can I stop those emails or how can I make it so that I don't log into iMessage (whatever that is).
I've texted a couple of friends since yesterday, but all of them have standard non-smart-phones...
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks

    Thanks a lot!
Ok so... iMessages sole purpose is to be a sort of "messenger" between iOS products right? There's nothing more to it? By that I mean... now that I turned it off, will it have any repercussions on any other apps or functions in my iPhone?

  • Bluetooth tethering no longer working - iPhone 3GS (iOS4.1) and Macbook Pro

    Hi all,
I don't understand why this is not working anymore. In the past I had successfully paired & used a bluetooth tethered connection between my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.4) & my iPhone 3GS (pre 4.1). The network connection was working and I was able to surf the web/use MSN etc. This is not a feature I have used in quite some time and for some reason now it is not working. I have done several upgrades on my phone since I last used it, currently on iOS 4.1.
Lets pretend I am starting from scratch and my Macbook & iPhone do not know each other, devices have been forgotten on both.
    - iPhone & Macbook both are on & discoverable
    - On Macbook Pro I select "Set Up Bluetooth Device"
    - Macbook scans and detects my iPhone, I select "Continue"
    - Macbook connects with iPhone & displays 6 digit pin, also pairing notification is shown on iPhone with the same 6 digit pin
    - I select "Continue" on Macbook & "Pair" on iPhone
    - Connection is made, iPhone is now listed on Macbook and vice versa
    - From bluetooth menu (on Macbook) in the iPhone device menu I select "Connect to Network". Error is displayed on Macbook "The bluetooth network is unavailable. There was a problem connecting to your device..." & on my iPhone an error "Connection Unsuccessful. Make sure iPhone is turned on and in range".
    - When I try to connect from the iPhone an error is displayed "Connection Unsuccessful. iPhone is not supported" with a button to Forget Device.
    What... the ****?
This has worked in the past without a hitch. Has something changed between say iOS 3.x and 4.1 that might cause this to no longer work for me.
    Any protips are greatly appreciated!

Don't feel like a noob, my settings changed after the last update without warning and I was having the same issue as you until I found your post that alerted me to the fact that my internet tethering might be off!
So for others out there that are having this issue to turn tethering on go to Settings > General > Network > Internet Tethering > On
Thank you!! I had already wasted over an hour repeatedly syncing and unsyncing my darn bluetooth connection.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the iPhone 3GS can only be updated as far as 4.2.1
Requirements for WhatsApp are iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
As noted here >  WhatsApp Messenger for iPhone on the iTunes App Store
So that app cannot run on the iPhone 3GS.
I stand corrected but apparently you may not be able to update the device regardless.

  • "Face Time" app for Video Chat between iPhone 3GS and PC?

Does anyone know of an iPhone app and/or PC application combo (besides Yahoo Messenger) that will support video chat between an iPhone 3GS and a PC (not a Mac)?
FYI, I can already do video chat without Face Time between my iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4, over WiFi or cell, using Fring and a reverse angle mirror from ISeeU.
    Thanks.

Hello, how do you set up fring and your iPhone 3GS to use facetime?
fring cannot "use" FaceTime. Only other FaceTime users can work with FaceTime.
See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319 for info about FaceTime on iPhone. (3GS will not work.)
See http://www.fring.com/default.php for info about what fring does.

  • How do I set up MSN Messenger account in Messages?

Apologies if this is an over asked question, but...
I understand the 'whys' of how Messages cannot integrate with MSN Messenger, and I have been searching everywhere for a solution. I keep coming across posts by Ralph that lead me to a set up instructions page using Jabber. However, this just leads me to a 404. I went to register on Jabber, but there is a message saying that the servers would be turned off on 15th March!
Surely this can be done, so if any bright spark out there can shed some light on this for me, I can get to using Messages and get rid of Adium!
    Thanks all!

    Hi,
I did used to post a Link to the All Forces Site  but the subpages do not load for some reason  and you get the 404 message.
I did find another set recently for another post but now can't find it again.
Basically you have to create a Jabber account on a  Jabber server that has an MSN transport (or Gateway)
As well as logging in to the Jabber server you need to login to the Transport as well and also link this to Your MSN account.
Buddies are added to your Buddy list as UserName%[email protected]
Basically it adds all the servers to the name and swaps out the first @

  • What  about The MSN Messenger ?

I have seen the introduction of the new update for the iphone but I didn't ear nothing about of the msn messenger I don't Know but I think many people use this don't?

I found an interesting way around this today. It was quite by accident, but it worked. I have conversations with my father on MSN. They live several states away, and it is cheaper to do this than make a phone call. I had him send me an email to my phone (one before the iPhone) [email protected], where xxx-xxx-xxxx is my phone number. Well, his computer remembered that in his Hotmail, and when he opened MSN, I was listed as one of his "buddies" on the page. So, he clicked to send me an instant message, and it came across to me as an SMS. We carried on a conversation like that. Now, while you may not be able to initiate a conversation, because the address it came from was a jumble of numbers to start with, but did have his email address imbedded, it worked.
Maybe worth a try to start with.
Hope this answers you question somewhat. Not sure what the 2.0 firmware could bring!
