MSN Messenger on N73? HOW!

I was assured that I could use MSN Messenger on my Nokia N73 but even though being quite savvy have been unsuccessful so far in getting it to work.
Firstly - Do i use the supplied IM software and just add the server address and usernames etc?
OR
Do I have to install dedicated IM or MSN software to gain access to MSN Messenger?
It all seems a tad confusing!
Leekee

If your referring to the the in built IM programme as far as I know there are no settings from the networks in the Uk for this as no UK networks support this, same with PTT (Push to Talk) I belive Orange did support this for business customers but heard a while ago they were withdrawing it
As for Microsoft MSN, currently it's exclusive to the 3 network only, if you go the nokia Hong Kong website (select English) and go to N73 product support you will find software for the N73 and you can download Microsoft MSN but it will only run for 1 month before requiring a 15RMB per month subscription, 15RMB is 1£, i wouldnt mind paying this but when you try to subscribe it fails

  • MSN Messenger erase or how do I uninstall properly?

    Hello everyone
I wanted to install MSN Messenger original Microsoft Version. So I downloaded the compressed file, decompressed it and installed MSN Messenger. But the icon of the drive in which the compressed data was located wouldn't go away. And when I put it in the trash can and emptied it, MSN Messenger wouldn't start anymore, but display a big question mark in the icon located in the dock. So I removed this one as well. I wanted to know if there are any rests of files left on my hard drive, which should be erased. In general: How do I uninstall software from my MAC? Is there a special way to do it? And in case of MSN Messenger, do you think it was removed properly? If not, how can I do it afterwards?
    Thank you so much

    Hello,
Here is what you should have done to install it:
    Download the program.
Then, open the disk image that you received as your download.
Then, from the disk image, copy the Messenger program to your Applications folder on your hard drive.
Then, eject the disk image and if you wanted delete the downloaded file.
Then, you would have gone into the Applications folder to run your Messenger program.
What you did was run the program from the disk image rather than from your hard drive. So, naturally, when you ejected the disk image, the program was gone.
The installation method I mentioned above is the standard method of installing programs on Macintosh computers.
As for whether Messenger is a self-contained package, it is self-contained. If you delete the main program, then the whole program is gone.
All that it leaves behind is your conversation history / cache and a couple of preference files in your preferences folder that contains your user-name and password and your settings.
    These files are called:
    com.microsoft.MessengerDaemon.plist
    and
    com.microsoft.Messenger.plist
    and
    com.microsoft.AlertsDaemon.plist
    and
    Microsoft Messenger User Cache
    These files are located in:
Hard Drive --> Users --> "Your User Name" --> Library --> Preferences --> Microsoft
If you delete these files as well as the main application, then everything is gone.
    I hope this helps.
Let us know if you have other questions.
P.S., if you'd like, go ahead and click the "Helpful" or "Solved" buttons on any of the posts / replies above if you feel they were helpful or adequately answered your question.

  • Why I cant use the MSN messenger in my mac?

I just downloaded the newest version about MSN messenger 5.0. But I cant sign in my msn messenger. I try many times, but it always popup one window says:"Sign in to Microsoft Messenger failed because the service is not available or you ma not be connected to he internet."My internet connection is no problem i think, because I use one windows system, the MSN messenger works. How to solve this problem, I need you help. cheers.

I take it you mean the latest Microsoft Messenger, which is version 5 and a step up from the previous MSN Messenger 4.
Are you signing in with a Hotmail.com address, or do you have an alternate company address (ie: Mac.com, etc)? If so, you need to register this address with the Microsoft Net Passport system to allow your "third party" email address to access the MSN system. Hotmail addresses are allowed access by default.

  • How can I do video chat with my PC friends on MSN messenger?

Well I posted this in the iChat area, but theres almost no traffic there, hoping for a better response here
I just got my iMac today and was hoping to do some video chats with family members. I can't figure out how to video chat with them since MSN messenger is not Mac compatable. Does anyone know of a program I can use on my Mac to video chat with MSN messenger users?
*I was able to use aMSN for video, but there was NO sound so that basically defeated the purpose...

    Hi
Have just replied to your iChat post:

  • How do I set up MSN Messenger account in Messages?

Apologies if this is an over asked question, but...
I understand the 'whys' of how Messages cannot integrate with MSN Messenger, and I have been searching everywhere for a solution. I keep coming across posts by Ralph that lead me to a set up instructions page using Jabber. However, this just leads me to a 404. I went to register on Jabber, but there is a message saying that the servers would be turned off on 15th March!
Surely this can be done, so if any bright spark out there can shed some light on this for me, I can get to using Messages and get rid of Adium!
    Thanks all!

    Hi,
I did used to post a Link to the All Forces Site  but the subpages do not load for some reason  and you get the 404 message.
I did find another set recently for another post but now can't find it again.
Basically you have to create a Jabber account on a  Jabber server that has an MSN transport (or Gateway)
As well as logging in to the Jabber server you need to login to the Transport as well and also link this to Your MSN account.
Buddies are added to your Buddy list as UserName%[email protected]
Basically it adds all the servers to the name and swaps out the first @

  • How can I chat with my MSN Messenger friends using Messages in Lion (not iChat)?

I use MSN Messenger daily to talk with friends but I would like to use Messages to chat with them. Is there a way to do this? I looked in the preferences but it only lists AIM, Google, Yahoo and Jabber. I don't use any of those ones. I only use MSN. Anybody know how, or if it's even possible?

    HI,
The Messages Beta has run out.
The End Date was the 14th December 2012.
However iChat and Messages in Mountain lion can be enabled to Add MSN Buddies to a Jabber List using Transports.
These Instructions detail how you can use a third Party app (in this case Psi) to enable  a Transport on a Server that uses Transports and then Add MSN Buddies to your Jabber Buddy list.
The Instructions were written some while ago and  include many pictures.
The current version of Psi is newer than the pics but you can still work out what to do.
The process will only enable Text Chatting

  • HELP!!!!     MSN Messenger Virus- how do I get rid of it????

    Hi all,
I seem to have a virus on my MSN Messenger - it keeps sending my contacts a link every time I log in: This is the link that gets sent???
    http://ginajones123.imgfriendz.com:6478
I've looked on the net and there is only info on how to stop this on a PC, no info about macs. If anyone could help me that would be much appreciated - it's driving me CRAZY
    Thanks

HI Gina and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Since you run MSN Messenger on your Mac you are vulnerable to trojan horse apps and virus. You might want use an anti-virus program like this: http://www.clamxav.com/
MSN Messenger is after all a Microsoft product.
Do a Google search for: MSN Messenger for Mac and virus problems and check out the hits.

Inspect IM supports MSN Messenger 7.0 (Build 7.0.0816), Yahoo Messenger 7.0.0.437.
The option was to use http inspection to drop msn packets using port 80.
We provided this config. for the customer and he confirmed that it works.
    regex msn-messenger "^VER [1-9] MSNP[1-9]+.*\x0d\x0a.*MSNMSGR.*\x0d\x0a"

  • How do I download Windows Live or MSN Messenger on my Tiger OS X Mac??

... the title pretty much sums it up.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
MSN Messenger on the Mac is pretty antiquated, and there is very little more than text chat support for it. oPhoneX has better support for video, and so does iChat videochat with AIM for Windows but not on MSN except with its capability to do Jabber which also is text only support. Skype has crossplatform support as well for videochat on its own network.
If you have an Intel Mac Boot Camp and Parallels may support video chat on Windows, though I haven't tried it yet. You can ask on the Boot Camp forum if anyone has tried, if your Mac supports it.

  • N95 & MSN Messenger

One of the first things i did when i got my N95 was to download and install MSN Messenger.
All was fine until 2 days ago, now i can't connect.
everytime i try and do this i keep getting an error message.
"Sorry, this service is not available yet outside of China mainland, Hongkong and Taiwan. For more information, please go to mclient.msn.com.cn"
Now i've tried to go to the site provided but i can't read chinese.
granted this might not be the best place to discuss this fault but its worth a shot to ask.
Anyone else got this problem or know why its happening?
    Thanks guys

do a check on the wsdl file and how you are passing values in the proxy. The tags for XML are not correct. Open the WSDL in IE and see there must be an error. Or probably when passing the actual values to the XML generated each element is not closed properly. Error says tags dont match.

  • Acrobat connect pro Vs msn messenger

    Hi,
I am making business plan an online digital teaching school. I wanted to center my virtual classroom tools around acrobat connect pro.
Someone i hired for advises just told me that msn messenger can do most of what acrobat connect does (pertaining to virtual classroom):
voip, whiteboarding, file sharing, screen sharing, screen controlling, application sharing, etc.
On top of that msn messenger is free.
Do you think that his analysis lacks something? I mean it looks a bit beautiful to have all these for free while i would normally pay acrobat connect
45$/month/host !! If i can remove 540$/year on my business plan iam surely excited to do, but i need to be cautious and ask what would i miss? What kind of pitfalls to anticipate if i switch msn for connect on my business plan?
Simply put how would you compare connect pro to msn messenger, why would connect pro be a best suited tool for my virtual class then msn?
Thank you for your inputs as they will help me make a better business choice.

I'm having a similar issue with my iMac. I was connecting fine to all microsoft services, and suddenly, with no change to the mac (that I'm aware of,) I can't connect. The problem extends beyond adium though. I cannot connect to hotmail, or login.live.com either. I just get network timeouts. It has nothing to do with my router, or dns, as my girlfriends macbook are setup on the same wireless router, with the same dns, and she can connect fine.
Things were even stranger with I thought to try a web-based proxy to connect to hotmail, with success.
It almost seems like my iMac has ports firewalled, even though it is turned off. Do you have a similar experience?
