MSN messenger problems

I have been having some trouble with my mac version of messenger.
When I complete a conversation with someone and I close the window it shuts down the entire program and I need to log back in.
I have deleted and reinstalled the program but I am still having trouble. Does anyone have a solution?

Hi semdogg: In addition to Rick's advice, you may wish to try another chat program. I have had great luck with Adium. I was using MSN and Yahoo for Mac: both were horrible progams. Adium is available here: http://www.adiumx.com/ Although the server appears to be down right now

Internet/MSN Messenger Problems

Ok, so for the past few weeks I've been having some problems with my msn and the internet. I use my city's cable internet and I'm on an imac OS 10.4.6 800MHz PowerPC G4.
When I log onto the internet in any browser, it works just fine. But, when I log into MSN messenger, messegner tells me no one is online. I know that's not true because there is always someone online. Anyway, I log out of msn, but when I go back to use the internet, it doesn't work and I have to unplug my modem and plug it back in (reset it) to get the internet to work again.
I then decided to use my iBook laptop to use the internet. MSN worked just fine on my laptop and I had no problms until two days ago I had gotten a list of updates from mac. (I chose to get weekly updates in System Preferences). The updates were for iTunes, iPod, and a Mac OS X PowerPC update. I had done that at night, then when it was finished updating I shut the laptop down and went to bed. The next morning my laptop was giving me the same problems my imac was.
Then today my iMac wouldn't let me log onto the internet at all, when my laptop would. After I rebooted my computer it let me on.
The other strange thing is that when I tried to log in with my Apple ID to post here, it told me my ID was disabled because of security reasons, so I had to make a new ID.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Do I have some kind of virus maybe? I have no clue. Help!

After the upsdates did you run "Disk Utility" and "Repair Permissions" ?
do this preferably before and after a system update, it does fix a lot of these little problems and prevents potential hassles in the future.
Another excellent repair utility is "Applejack", go to Google and get the address and download the application (Donationware).
This program runs in Single User Mode and repairs a lot more than Disk Utility, afterwards you'll find your Mac running faster and with fewer problems.

Ichat & msn messenger problems

Is there anyway that I can set my status to invisible on iChat?
Also- was not sure where to put this next question. On msn messenger for mac- when I try and change the emoticons, either add or remove some from my list, it states that I am only allowed a max of 59 emoticons. Would have no problem, except i have only selected about 15..........
Any idea how to change this?

ITunes 4.7 and 6 MSN Messenger Problem

Once I downloaded iTunes 6, I could not use the music as a personal message in msn messenger!!!!

You will need to tell the forum what operating system you're using. Jaguar, Panther, Tiger and what version. This would help greatly. If you're a PC user then I suspect none of the following information will be of value to you.
If you're a Macintosh user this feature is NOT available on any of the Macintosh Microsoft MSN Messengers including their newest version Microsoft Messenger 5.0. This feature is only available for their PC users.
However, the software below does support this feature.
aMSN (a clone MSN Messenger) go to their forum and download the beta version -- http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewforum.php?f=14 -- It has text, file transfer, webcam, not sure if it has voice/audio as yet. Remember it will have bugs as it is a beta version. You may or may not need the following for aMSN to work on Tiger. I know you need them for Jaguar and Panther. The tcl/tk interpreter (version 8.3 or later) found at -- http://tcl.sourceforge.net -- and also ImageMagick -- http://www.cmq.qc.ca/4w/amsn -- Read FAQs. PC users do not need this program, they can use the normal msn messenger. Once downloaded and all is working correctly for you go to Tools/Select Plugins/Music and load it.

Yahoo and MSN messenger problems

Hi,
I have a Blackberry Curve 8900, and since I have upgrade MSN and Yahoo messengers to v 2.5.27, I have the same problem with both of them.
When I try to send a picture, I get the message: "Untaught exception: UI engine accessed without holding the event lock" , and I'm logged off automatically.
How can I fix this, or downgrade to the previous version?

change to:

Msn messenger problems when you install it

Sorry i am new at this , its my first macbook. i got a real problem cuz i cant get to install the messenger everytie i reset my mac i got to download it again what am i missing?

After downloading it, open the item on the desktop with the white drive icon, find it, and drag it to the Applications folder in the sidebar. Open it from the Applications folder when you want to use it, and throw it away to uninstall it.

Nokia 6700 Classic MSN Messenger Problem

For some reason i cant even sign into MSN i was never able to. I have 3.5G access here and am able to surf the net with it but not eable to go on MSN. Did anyone on here have this problem?

I would love to know the solution to this as I am seriously thinking of going back to my 6500 slide due to people thinking I am a dalek when they call me.
I don't understand how when I call out or use the phone through my car's handsfree system there is no problem.
I absolutely love the simple design of the 6700 and would love it even more if I didn't have to phone every caller back when they have given up trying to understand what I am trying to say.
I have turned off the voice clarity feature that I thought was the issue and still the proplem remains.
Has anyone managed to get anywhere with this?

Mac OS X Update (Power PC) 10.4.6 caused MSN Messenger, Internet Problems

Hey Guys, Heres my problem. A couple days ago my software update came up and i downloaded the new OS X update 10.4.6 (power PC). that was fine and when it was done I restarted my computer, and when i went to go on the internet it worked fine but once i opened MSN messenger and tried to sign in , it would let me sign in but once i get signed in there would be no one online and shortly after i would lose my internet connection. So in short form when i sign into msn it causes me to lose my internet connection. I have treid to download msn again but no difference and i have also tried AMSN and it does the same thing. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the new OS X update or not
If anyone could help me out with this, that would be great.

You might want to search or post on the "Microsoft Messenger for Mac" group you can find on the Microsoft Mac Support - Newsgroups page. These are Google Groups with active participation from MS Microsoft Messenger for Mac users, including a variety of expert users.
I don't mean to send you somewhere else, but I've found numerous answers there for folks with questions related to MS products. Accordingly, it has often proved to be the first, best place to look for answers to questions such as you are asking.

Problems with updating MSN Messenger for Mac

Install the MSN Messenger for Mac from Application. When I signed in, a message pop up asking me to get a new updated version or else I could not continue to use the MSN Messenger. During downloading, another message pop up saying that the Messenger.bin is neither compressed .... and I could not go any further,and as such could not use MSN Messenger. What's the problem here?

MSN Messenger for Mac Disappearing Cursor Problem

Weird problem with MSN Messenger...... after pressing "Enter" to send the message, the cursor just disappears. Active window is still MSN. Have to touch the pad for cursor to show up and needs to click on the chat window in order to type next message.
I deleted and re-install but to no avail. Anyone has any fix?

mm so this thing is not being solved yet. i'm sorry i'm so new and had this problem, and yea i tried to uninstall safari 4, but still, not working -still have to click on cursor pad to activate the window before i write in new message

I discovered that sometimes, when I talk to people ( so far talked to people using windows only), I cannot receive what they say, and I need to log in using a pc to say what they say, sometimes.
Why is this happening? any clue?

This is not a Mac problem. It's a known issue (although not recognized by Microsoft), it's just a flaw on the Windows Live network. it happens on the Windows client too time to time. The exact reasons are unknown.

Multipul Problems with Mail and MSN Messenger

So here is my story. A couple of weeks ago i installed Leopard to my powerbook. it all seemed to be working ok. I went overseas for 2 weeks, had my blackberry stolen, so i had to change all my email passwords. SO, now my mail program won't connect to my email accounts. I changed the passwords in mail for my hotmail and personal email account but it says it can't connect. My MSN Messenger also won't connect. It seems like some type of firewall problem, but i have no idea how to fix it. I have check my settings under security and repaired my permissions.
Any thoughts?

I'm not having any problem with Gmail at all.
What are the specific Incoming and Outgoing server settings for that Gmail account, and what is the exact text of the error message you get, if any? Is this a POP or IMAP account? When did this start happening and what did you do just prior to this problem starting?

I have tried to download MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger and both of them will download to my computer but when I open them they appear on the dock for a second and then dissapear without opening. I am using operating system 10.3.9 and I was under the understanding that was the minimum requirement so I dont understand why this isnt working. I also made sure that I have read and write permission. Any idea...I also seem to have a french keyboard and can’t figure out how to use my question mark...it keeps coming up like this: é or É

Nokia 6133 Msn Instant Messenger Problems

I have a Nokia 6133 and it comes with Instant Messenger. I use MSN Messenger. when I try to login in on MSN Messenger it connects and loads everything then the done screen comes up and just freezes there. other people can see that im online but i cannot see my contacts or anything. just that one screen that hangs on the done screen. I also get notifications of a new instant message but I cannot see them because it always hangs on the "Done" screen.
any reaons why?
