MsN Messenger upgrade for MacBook-not upgrading

Every time I try to login to my msn messenger it tells me that a newer version is available, so I click "yes" to download. It appears to work but then all I get is a file on my desktop called "messenger.bin" I click this and another pops up with the same title put labeled with a 2 after it. How do I fix this and get the right thing to download? thanks

Manually delete MSN and reinstall it again.

  • Which VISTA for MacBook (not Pro) 2GB 160GB HD w/Paralells

QUESTION: Can MacBook handle BUSINESS or ULTIMATE VISTA?
    BACKGROUND:
-- I am buying new Core 2 Duo Macbook (not Pro) with 2GB Memory and 160GB HD (currently have original Core Duo Macbook)
-- This will be 'virgin' machine (no Windows OS or Boot Camp or Paralells on machine yet)
-- For my needs I would normally buy VISTA HOME PREMIUM
-- But VISTA legal (End User Legal Agreement) forbids use of BASIC or HOME PREMIUM versions on virtual maChine (like PARALELLS) -- Blog on PARALELLS website confIrms this
-- So must use BUSINESS or ULTIMATE Version legally
    QUESTIONS:
    1. Can Core 2 Duo MacBook 2GB 160GB HD Handle these larger VISTA versions?
    2. Can original Core Duo Macbook with 2GB do so?

I think that's answered. You can allocate as much of your 2 GBs to Parallels as you want provided you maintain sufficient RAM for OS X. So, if you allocate 1 GB to the VM that's sufficient for Vista.
    Question answered.
Now, for Parallels specific questions regarding installing or running Vista you will find help at http://forums.parallels.com.

Sorry I don't own creative webcam but isn't this setting your own personal preferences.

  • Reasons for MacBook not starting

Have tried all ways suggested but MacBook does not turn on. What could be the reasons? Are the solutions all so expensive that I should just buy a new one? Mine is 3 years old.

Do you mean that the MacBook will not power on at all? No startup chime, nothing?
When you say you have tried all ways suggested, does that mean you have reset the System Management Controller? If not, you should try it.
Does the battery have a charge? Is the computer connected to the power cord?
If you've tried all of these (and it truly is a no power issue, not just will not boot to the operating system) then you have a hardware issue. Contact Apple or carry in to an Apple store or service provider for a repair. If they can't repair it economically they will tell you and you can look for a new machine.
    Best of luck.

  • Downloading system update for MacBook - not

I've been trying to download the update from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. After a half hour I get the message it has timed out and be sure I'm connected to the net. I am connected. I stay connected via DSL. I opened the Energy Saver control panel and checked to see that all settings are "Never" for the sleep cycle. I don't use that sleep choice. Tried to download an update for Capture 4 and the same thing happened. I paid for that DL and would like to use it. I've never had this non-download problem in 13 years of using Macs. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this so downloads are possible with the MacBook? No DL problem with iBook G4.

No idea if Apple knows about your issue. For OS X Mountain Lion, i believe 10.8.5 is the last OS update we'll see.
You can provide feedback here to Apple.

  • HT1338 Power cable for Macbook not working / Apple Care discount?

My power cable for my Macbook stopped working. I went to the bookstore at my school and at first they told me I could get a discount on a new one ($29 instead of $79) because I have Apple Care. Then they told me that was a mistake and I have to pay full price even though I have Apple Care... True/false????

It appears your Macbook is at least 2 years old. If you have the extended warranty and there is no physicla damage to your power adapter, then you "might" be eligible for a free replacement.
Have you tried replacing the duckhead adapter yet? That's the part that normally fails first.
    Gramps.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Check here http://europe.nokia.com/A4487159
By the way, it's now called "windows live". It's a pretty handy feature and you can use it for free on WLAN.
That's right people, I'm back. Where have I been? I have been getting a life, away from this electric madness.

  • Msn messenger for nokia E65

Hi can anyone plz tell me where i can find the msn messenger software for nokia nE65
    thanx

    suzan:
in all honestly i wouldn't bother with ms's crack at providing a msn app on the symbian os.
if you're willing to shell out a lil bit of cash then try either agile messenger or turbo msn. both are good apps.

  • Unable to log onto MSN messenger

    Hi,
I am currently experiencing major problems logging onto msn messenger at home. The funny thing about my problem is that msn works fine using other wireless connections. I have called up my internet provider (tiscali), apple technical support, and belkin (the company that makes my wireless router). No such luck yet. Apparently I have managed to figure out that it isn't that program that is at fault, nor is my computer. I can log in fine with other wireless networks (e.g. school library). The tricky thing is that it isn't the fault of my internet provider. There is no problem in me surfing the web (logging into hotmail to check my email)and using internet wirelessly in the house. I downloaded adiumx, amsn, fire, and msn messenger for macs. none of the will allow me to sign in with any user name ending with @hotmail.com from what i have concluded.
it just won't read my hotmail address when i type in my username and password.
my internet provider is tsicali and since it did not come with a wireless router, i bought a belkin one on my own. the belkin technicians have put down all the firewalls (dmz settings?)and security settings and I STILL can't log on to msn.
there are no firewalls on my macbook by default. so there's nothing to disable.
tiscali does not block any sites for their users as an internet provider.
I have even gone into utilities and to the terminal icon and switched the mtu setting to 1400
what more can i do right now?
does anybody have any idea what could be wrong?
    my computer? router? internet provider?
    please advise!
    mucho gracias
p.s. my flatmate uses the wireless internet just fine. she has a pc laptop and can log on to msn messenger no problem

  • Logging in with MSN Messenger - please help!

    Hello!
I really hope somebody can help, I've been trying to get iChat to work with my MSN Messenger contacts for about 2 weeks now and have trawled through the advice on this forum but nothing has worked properly.
I've tried Ralph Jones (I think)' helpful advice, been through the top three links and registered with Jabber about 5 times but no success. If you are reading please help Ralph!
The first time I tried it, it did work and I spoke with somebody for a few minutes, however then it came up with an error that said 'Not available' when I tried to send a message. Since then all my contacts have showed as 'Waiting for Authorization' but this status never changes. I think I've tried everything - I've tried different servers on the third link, I've tried the UK one (I'm in the UK) but nothing seems to work.
Please help! This is the final step as every other application I've got working fully!
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi,
I used Psi to set up my Jabber name and transport on Jabber.org.uk
Then I added that Jabber screen name as an Jabber account in the iChat Preferences > Accounts
Like you I find that sometimes they seem to stay at Not Authorised.
Check with the Psi app that the Transport is active.
Also contact Gil Taylor in table 2
http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/ContactTesters.html as he seems to know more about this.
Use his AIM name first and text him.

  • Video & MSN Messenger

Will using Jabber allow me to video chat with MSN Messenger people? If not, is there a program that will allow me to video chat from my mac to my families PC on MSN Messenger?

So no way to do both video and sound with MSN from a mac correct? Ok. thanks for all the help. I guess we'll go to a different chatting program. Any suggestions for one that is the most user friendly on both the PC and Mac side of things?

  • Msn messenger on iPhone 3GS

Does anyone know if its possible to run msn messenger on iphone3gs?? i know you can access meebo and some other sites, but is there like an app for it?

I don't believe Microsoft has developed an MSN messenger app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
I believe there are a number of 3rd party IM clients such as Meebo that support accessing an MSN messenger account along with other IM accounts through other providers such as AOL, etc.
