MSN / Outlook for iMac

I've had MSN as my email for a long time and don't care to change. Msn switched to Outlook a while back and I've been accessing it through Safari.
But my iMac was set up to default to the Mac email software. I'd like the computer to default to Outlook for me. Do I need to download Outlook software? Do I have to pay for it? That seems wacky.
How can I set this all up? Thanks for helping.

This is like a "Who's on first?" conversation where each person is misunderstanding the other.
Emkaybee, as i understand it, you want mail links to open your Outlook WEBMAIL page, is that correct? You neither want nor need the desktop Outlook application (which, as has been pointed out above, is different from webmail), and you don't want your Outlook email account to open in the Apple Mail program.
You can't default the Mac's mail preferences to a webmail page, but try Webmailer. It lets you assign a webmail page to email links you'll find on webpages.

  • I can not send pictures from photo via my OUTLOOK for IMAC

I just installed Photo  as part of the New OS Yosimete and now I cant send pictures from the library via my OUTLOOK for IMAC

I've opened up a enhancement request with Apple. Photos is not ready for prime time in my opinion. I've tried to work around this issue by trying to attach a photo in Outlook, but the Photos media browser (which worked fine with iPhoto) does not work at all, either. Both of these features work fine when you're using Apple's Mail application. So it's either Microsoft doesn't support the new Photos, or Apple doesn't support Outlook.

  • DISPLAY FONT ISSUES IN OUTLOOK FOR IMAC

I have an IMac, Lion operating system.  For some unknown reason, my digests from yahoogroups now download in a horrible, almost unreadable font.  I just want the old default, easier-to-read font to display.  Does anyone know how to reset this?  I did not change any settings, but no one seems to know how to do this.  Yahoo ignores my inquiries and I do not think it is an Outlook problem either, since the rest of my email does not display in the weird font.
Anby help with this would be much appreciated.

Sorry that was the folders path; the long series of folders and sub-folders you need to navigate to get to the file called "Office Font Cache"
Library -> Preferences -> Microsoft -> Office 2011 (or Office 2008) -> Office Font Cache
    - Once you've opened the "Library" folder,
    - Open the folder "Preferences" inside of "Library" folder
    - Then open "Microsoft" folder inside of "Preferences" folder.
    - Then open "Office 2011" (or "Office 2008") folder inside of the "Microsoft" folder.
    - Inside "Office 2011" (or "office 2008") folder, you should see a file called "Office Font Cache", which you can put in the trash.
Caches like that occasionally get bloated and corrupted. Once put in the trash, a new fresh one gets created.
When you restart an Office application, you should see an indication that it's updating/rebuilding the Font Cache -- we just threw away the old one.

  • Imac is 4 months old.  Using installed Outlook for Mac 2011 but now want to use ical so that I can start to use iCloud to sync with my Ipad2 and iPhone.  How do I move my calendar from outlook to ical on the iMac?

This is my first attempt at using this forum so please be patient with me.  I am new to the apple world.  Bought an Imac desktop computer back in October and installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 because I was used to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and outlook.  Now I am being told that I should be using ical for my calendar so that I will be better able to move to icloud for use between my Imac, Ipad2, and Iphone.
The question is:  how do I move my calendar which is in "Outlook for Mac 2011" into ical on my Mac?  Do I have to remove the Outlook entries from the computer and reinstall them back to the same machine or can I somehow move calendar entries within the machine?  I appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks.

I also already deleted my phone number from iMessage on my MBP.

  • No Sync with Imac and Outlook for mac 2011

    Hello,
just bought a new bb torch, but it does not synchronise with outloop (office for mac 2011).
    no contacts, no agenda.
I can not choose which agenda/contacts.
It looks like the Torch goes to the standard email progam of Imac and not to Outlook.
The only contacts are the standard contacts from addressbook imac.
    thanks in advance,
    rob

I have just discovered the same thing - if you do a search around the topic you will find it confirmed that the only thing that will sync with Outlook for Mac is contacts.
I've just moved everything over from a PC to a Mac and so to find it not working is so frustrating.
SORT IT OUT RIM - or at least assure us you're working on it.

  • HT204053 I am unable to sync all contacts on my iMac (which includes outlook for Mac contacts) with my iPad mini, how do I do this, I have enabled icloud on both devices and ticked all the boxes.

I am unable to sync all contact in my address book on my imac with my ipad mini, it looks like only icloud & yahoo contact sync leaving out the ones in outlook for mac.  I have enabled icloud on both devices and ticked all the boxes.

Thanks for that, but my Outlook contacts are synced to and all in my mac contacts book, does this not meen they would go to icloud,
No, they are in the On My Mac account in the Mac Contacts app, not iCloud.
or are they in a different format despite being in mac contacts?  If so can the outlook contacts be exported in some other way to icloud?
Outlook is not compatible with iCloud, check Microsofts site if you need more verification.
If you want them in iCloud use Mac Contacts and move them from On My Mac to iCloud. This will remove them from Outlook.

  • Cant sync iphone calander to outlook for mac 2011 on Imac?

cant sync iphone calander to outlook for mac 2011 on Imac?

    yes, I checked.
You know what the configuration file for this setting? It all started when I replaced the folder "Office 2011 Identities" with that of the old MAC!
In fact, if I create a new account everything returns to normal but I need to work with my account!

I am having trouble getting mail from the shaw server that my new iMac is connected to. I have to reboot the system to get Outlook for Mac to access the system and obtain new messages. Any ideas? Its at the point where I have started using the PC again as its less trouble.......

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".<br />
See "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in "Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection"<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

  • Additional file size is added to my PDF when attaching it to an email in Outlook for Mac 2011

I'm generating PDFs from Adobe Pro X. I have a 7.23MB PDF file that becomes a 9.8MB PDF file when attached to an email.
I'm trying to keep the file size as small as I can - why is the extra size added to the PDF?
I'm on an IMac, using Outlook for Mac 2011 and Adobe Acrobat Pro X/Indesign CC to generate the PDFs.  This isn't an isolated issue, it happens when I attached word documents as well and is extremely annoying!
Looking forward to hearing from anyone out there (desperately!)

    One thing to check.

  • Trouble transferring email to Outlook for Mac 2011

I purchased a new iMac and Office for Mac 2011.  I have years of Outlook email history to transfer over, which the folks at the Apple Store said would work, no problem.  That hasn't been the case.  None of my .pst files from Outlook (2003, for PC) will transfer correctly.  It seems that about half the email is missing.  Have tried importing just small pst files with less than 100 emails, that won't work either.  I've seen this problem discussed on multiple forums, but haven't seen a consensus developing as to the solution.  I've tried creating a new identity in Office for Mac 2011, importing there, exporting to a .olm file, and reimporting to my main identity, and that didn't work either.  Each solution has thousands of missing emails, but never the same ones.  I can find no pattern, relating to whether there were attachments, older emails, new emails, etc.
I know this is being discussed in various forums, but I'd like to ask whether anyone has any new ideas?  Or, it would be great to know if ANYONE has successfully been able to complete this kind of transfer to Outlook for Mac 2011, or whether it's happening to everyone who tries.
    Thanks...

We've had problems importing Outlook 2003 and earlier >PST files into Outlook 2011 due I think to the ANSI format of the PST file.
One option is to get a 30 day trial of Outlook 2010 for your PC, create a new PST file in 2010 and import your 2003 PST into it. Then the PST will be Unicode and Mac Outlook 2011 should be able to import this PST.

  • No Outlook for Mac in my Office Edition...

    Hi there!
I know this is a off-apple topic but may be you have a hint for me.
Recently I bought my very first Mac despite I got and iMac for my wife last year, I never had a Mac of my own.
Very excited, I ordered a MacBook Pro 15 i7 and clicked for Office 2011 Home and Student Edition to have it preinstalled.
Afterwards, I realized that edition does not have any email program, which for me is critical. I have years of mails in my PC outlook and I need to pass them to my Mac.
Is there any upgrade available to get the Outlook for Mac or do I have to purchase a new whole license (Office 2011 Home And Business Edition) and waste the money I spent buying the Home and Student Edition?
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Francisco

I did install it, but wouldnt use most of the features. All I need is a basic email sending/receiving package, and Apple Mail does the job perfect for me.
Also, although you can transfer emails from Mail to Outlook easily, you cant transfer iCal events to Outlook calendar etc.
In teh end I decided I was perfectly fine with Apple Mail.
Im not saying Outlook 2011 is a bad program - far from it. Its a great application. I guess its down to your own particular preference and uses.

  • Outlook for IOS

Got some weird happenings with Outlook for IOS.
In Google, I de-authorized everything including Outlook permissions.  I re-install Outlook for IOS and attempt to add my GMAIL address.  I get the prompt to authorize, I see the authorize show up in Google, but I can never ever create an account
in IOS.  I can add GMAIL using Outlook on my Surface and on my iMac, just can't add it in IOS.
I guess this is probably a GMAIL or IOS issue, but it does authorize, Outlook tells me to check my email and password (which are correct since i can add it on other platforms).  I do not have dual authentication on.
    Any ideas?

  • ICloud working with Outlook for Mac 2011

For work purposes I use a Mac Air, with Outlook for Mac 2011, and my company's email runs on an Outlook server.  I'm not going to have any choice about using Outlook.
I've set up my home calendar (on iMac) and want to use iCloud to synchronise between my various devices.
My iPhone can show both my work calendar and my home calendar. But on the Mac where i am running Outlook for Mac i dont seem to be able to add the second calendar.
Looking at older discussions (2011, 2012) it seems there were ways to use iCloud and synchronise with Outlook on a Windows machine, but not on a Mac using Outlook.  Is that still the case or is there a way I can now do this?

Microsoft have still not updated Outlook for Mac to support the cross-platform, industry-standard calendar and contact protocols iCloud (and many other similar services) use.
You won't be able to use iCloud with Outlook for Mac, except for email.
    Read: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2648915
There's nothing to stop you using the Apple calendar and contact apps for your personal iCloud data, and Outlook for your work data though. Or you could just setup your work accounts in the Apple apps, which do support Microsoft Exchange.
