MSN Pecan problems

I have just started having problems with MSN Pecan. It was working fine last night, but this morning is not working correct.
I have 2 MSN accounts. One at hotmail.com and one at live.com. Now for some reason the live.com account is not working. Usually when I log on it gives me the option to enable the account, but this option is missing. When I try to sign in, nothing happens. The hotmail.com account allows me to disable or enable the account, but the live.com option I can't even sign in.
Like I said before, it was working fine. I have uninstalled the app and re-installed it, but it still doesnt work.
Any ideas?

Solve the MSN/Jabbber problems once and for all!!

Hey there.
I use iChat to talk to my msn friends through jabber. I have three gripes with this, two I think can be Solved. The first being user name, everytime I want to change my user name (Which is not often) I have to go into a third party app to do it, thats a pain in the ***. Second, Buddy icons. Now all I want is my company logo to show up next to my name, I don't want to change it, unless I change my logo, but I have to be logged in on msn to show this, not through jabber.
So for you developers out there.
It's obvious that when you use msn it connects to a network and grabs your username and icon. So is it possible to make a widget that is connected to this network and that you can easily type in your username and also drag and drop the logo you want to use onto it. Then it stays connected with your info so your friends can see your buddy icon while you sit there happily using iChat (appart from the no transfers)..
Hope someone can solve this problem, cause if not i'm going to be spending a lot of time trying to do it myself!

Does anyone know a good easy to install server for osx then that I can connect mainly to MSN with.
Hopefully with features like Buddy Icons and file transfers.
So that I can use iChat with my msn buddy's just like my aim ones.

Internet/MSN Messenger Problems

Ok, so for the past few weeks I've been having some problems with my msn and the internet. I use my city's cable internet and I'm on an imac OS 10.4.6 800MHz PowerPC G4.
When I log onto the internet in any browser, it works just fine. But, when I log into MSN messenger, messegner tells me no one is online. I know that's not true because there is always someone online. Anyway, I log out of msn, but when I go back to use the internet, it doesn't work and I have to unplug my modem and plug it back in (reset it) to get the internet to work again.
I then decided to use my iBook laptop to use the internet. MSN worked just fine on my laptop and I had no problms until two days ago I had gotten a list of updates from mac. (I chose to get weekly updates in System Preferences). The updates were for iTunes, iPod, and a Mac OS X PowerPC update. I had done that at night, then when it was finished updating I shut the laptop down and went to bed. The next morning my laptop was giving me the same problems my imac was.
Then today my iMac wouldn't let me log onto the internet at all, when my laptop would. After I rebooted my computer it let me on.
The other strange thing is that when I tried to log in with my Apple ID to post here, it told me my ID was disabled because of security reasons, so I had to make a new ID.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Do I have some kind of virus maybe? I have no clue. Help!

After the upsdates did you run "Disk Utility" and "Repair Permissions" ?
do this preferably before and after a system update, it does fix a lot of these little problems and prevents potential hassles in the future.
Another excellent repair utility is "Applejack", go to Google and get the address and download the application (Donationware).
This program runs in Single User Mode and repairs a lot more than Disk Utility, afterwards you'll find your Mac running faster and with fewer problems.

Yahoo and MSN messenger problems

Hi,
I have a Blackberry Curve 8900, and since I have upgrade MSN and Yahoo messengers to v 2.5.27, I have the same problem with both of them.
When I try to send a picture, I get the message: "Untaught exception: UI engine accessed without holding the event lock" , and I'm logged off automatically.
How can I fix this, or downgrade to the previous version?

Ichat & msn messenger problems

Is there anyway that I can set my status to invisible on iChat?
Also- was not sure where to put this next question. On msn messenger for mac- when I try and change the emoticons, either add or remove some from my list, it states that I am only allowed a max of 59 emoticons. Would have no problem, except i have only selected about 15..........
Any idea how to change this?

Msn logging problems

ok i am having problems going into msn
well today it was running fine then i went too eat then when i gone back on a hour later it keeps on say
sign into microsoft messenger failed because the service is not responding.
the service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet
i can go into the net fine but i can't go on msn?
can anyone help me with this problem sorry if this was put in the wrong forum

Nokia 6700 Classic MSN Messenger Problem

For some reason i cant even sign into MSN i was never able to. I have 3.5G access here and am able to surf the net with it but not eable to go on MSN. Did anyone on here have this problem?

I would love to know the solution to this as I am seriously thinking of going back to my 6500 slide due to people thinking I am a dalek when they call me.
I don't understand how when I call out or use the phone through my car's handsfree system there is no problem.
I absolutely love the simple design of the 6700 and would love it even more if I didn't have to phone every caller back when they have given up trying to understand what I am trying to say.
I have turned off the voice clarity feature that I thought was the issue and still the proplem remains.
Has anyone managed to get anywhere with this?

Hotmail/msn mail problem...

The past two days I've been unable to send email either through hotmail.com or msn.com. I have been able to receive email from both of these sources. A few minutes ago I installed my aol.com email data in the iPad email program and there I can receive and SEND email. Wonder if anyone else is having this problem? I just rebooted my iPad and that didn't help the problem.
I can send email through both of these MS email programs on my MBP so the problem if any seems to be directed only at my iPad.

My problem continues when trying to send email from my iPad. The problem occurs with both msn.com and hotmail.com. I get the following error message...
Cannot Send Mail
The user name or password for "SMTP:[email protected]@smtp.live.com" is incorrect.
This morning I went into System Preference (Mail) and under accounts went into "advanced" where I added under Primary Server which is "smtp.live.com"
Other smtp servers I added smtp.aol.com
After doing so, I am now able to send email via msn.com and hotmail.com from my iPad.
The "string" in the error message above seems hokey and a bit "addon". I don't know if my outgoing messages reflect that I'm using an AOL server, but I would prefer that they don't.
Strangely enough, I normally have no problem in sending email from my MBP, but occasionally I will get a popup when sending email there that asks what server I want to use. IF I do get that message, if I select my gmail account, the message goes right out.
I'm wondering if MS's Live mail doesn't like email coming from an Apple device?

Weird MSN-iTunes Problem

So, today, when I started up an iTunes song, a message popped up saying "Windows Live Messenger has had an error and needs to close." I exit iTunes, and I get a message saying "one or more applications is using iTunes scripting interface, quit or don't quit". I then open both programs back up, play a song in iTunes, and I get the same result. Restarted computer, same results. Then I went to a site I frequented and asked for help on the problem, and someone told me to uncheck the "Show songs I'm listening to" setting, and I did. Everything magically works again. So, the problem itself has been resolved. But my question to you folks here is, why now? I've had my current version of MSN and iTunes for months now, with this setting checked and no problems. Is there anything I can do to make it so I can use that setting again?

Download the Windows Live Messenger plug-in for itunes again?
If that still doesn't work, try a repair install of itunes.
Since messenger is giving the error, I think it's the one that needs attention.

Sorry i am new at this , its my first macbook. i got a real problem cuz i cant get to install the messenger everytie i reset my mac i got to download it again what am i missing?

After downloading it, open the item on the desktop with the white drive icon, find it, and drag it to the Applications folder in the sidebar. Open it from the Applications folder when you want to use it, and throw it away to uninstall it.

MSN messenger problems

I have been having some trouble with my mac version of messenger.
When I complete a conversation with someone and I close the window it shuts down the entire program and I need to log back in.
I have deleted and reinstalled the program but I am still having trouble. Does anyone have a solution?

Hi semdogg: In addition to Rick's advice, you may wish to try another chat program. I have had great luck with Adium. I was using MSN and Yahoo for Mac: both were horrible progams. Adium is available here: http://www.adiumx.com/ Although the server appears to be down right now

BEFW11S4 MSN / AIM problems

I seem to be getting disconnected from MSN and AIM on an ongoing basis. I know it's not my ISP or modem because I directly connected to my comp from my modem using USB and I'm 100% stable when I do that. However when I run a line from my modem to the router then my network card, I get disconnected every 5-10mins from MSN and AIM. Funny thing is I'm directly connected to the router from my desktop so I don't know why I'm getting disconnected. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, in this situation where you have already upgraded the Firmware for the router, you can reset the router by holding and pressing the reset on the back panel for 30seconds. Then reconfigure the router. You can then log into the setup page of the router by http://192.168.1.1 the username is blank and the password is admin. Under the setup screen lower the MTU to 1492.

Once I downloaded iTunes 6, I could not use the music as a personal message in msn messenger!!!!

You will need to tell the forum what operating system you're using. Jaguar, Panther, Tiger and what version. This would help greatly. If you're a PC user then I suspect none of the following information will be of value to you.
If you're a Macintosh user this feature is NOT available on any of the Macintosh Microsoft MSN Messengers including their newest version Microsoft Messenger 5.0. This feature is only available for their PC users.
However, the software below does support this feature.
