MSNBC Pages no longer loading

In the past two or three days, I can't get any pages from MSNBC to load. They either partially load with just text or don't load at all. In Firefox and Chrome, all of MSNBC works fine. I'm seeing this in Safari on both Mac and in Windows.
I suspect this is another evil plot by Microsoft to increase it's browser market share, or at least to **** off Safari and Mac users.

HI,
Go to Safari/Preferences and select the Autfill tab. Click the Edit button next to User names and passwords. Delete msnbc.com and click Done.
Relaunch Safari.
FYI... I responded to your other post here...

  • Some pages no longer load using WIFI...

    Hello,
I just started noticing this issue with my iPhone last week. My home wifi connection shows full strength but for some reason, some web pages that I frequently visit will no longer fully load. Safari shows about less than 1/4 load and will then stop and hang. These pages used to load with no problem. I get the same problems with youtube where videos will load about half and then stop and there is nothing I can do to have it finish. I downloaded a speedtest app and I get consistent 6-8mbs download speed but I am not sure if the packet is large enough to invoke the issue. On 3G, I have no issues. Pages and videos all load as expected. I am tempted to try a new router but I have no issues on my MBP. Orb used to work perfectly and now all I get are timeouts. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

This is what D-Link advised - for what it is worth
You may need to lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) value on your network card or/and on your router. MTU can be changed to accommodate fragmentation of packets; specially encoded packets with secured data can be too large for the current MTU and cause too much fragmentation. Changing MTU on the router alone may not resolve the issue, in this case proceed with changing MTU on your computer's Network Adapter.
    Changing MTU on router
Step 1. Log into your router by open your Internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer), enter the IP address of your router (e.g. 192.168.0.1) and press Enter. Specify username (admin) and password (blank by default) to log into the router.
Step 2. Click on the Setup tab and click on Internet on the left side. Then click on the 'Manual Configure' button.
Step 3. Look for the MTU field (note that it may not be available in some router models). The default MTU value is 1500, change it to lower number, e.g. 1200.
Step 4. Test your ability to connect to those specific sites youre having trouble with. If changing the MTU rate to 1200 does not resolve the problem, start lowering it in increments of ten until the problem is resolved (you may need to go as low as 600 depending on your Internet connection).
    Changing MTU on computer
To lower the MTU size on your computer you can use utilities like Dr.TCP or TCP Optimizer. Alternatively you can follow the steps in this document: http://files.dlink.com.au/Products/!Routers/MTU_Win2K.XP.pdf

  • Wi-fi login page no longer loads in Safari: can't join network

We have paid wi-fi in our apt building. My Mac Mini gets on fine: I pick the network from the AirPort menubar drop-down, launch Safari, the login page comes up, I enter my name & password and that's it. My MBP used to do the same. Now, I can still pick the network in the menubar drop-down, launch Safari, type some crap in the Google box, but the blue progress line only makes it to the "p" in the "http://www.google..." string. I dumped my /Library/SystemConfiguration folder and replaced it with the one from TimeMachine (and, yes, I did a cold shutdown to prevent "com.apple.network.identification.plist" from being overwritten by the "bad" settings in RAM).
Has this ever happened to anyone else? What do I delete, reinstall, or otherwise do?

I cannot get to the point of logging in.
Normally, after selecting my apt's network, Safari will automatically load the wi-fi's login page. This can be hurried, as you know, by typing crap in the Google field and hitting return.
Suddenly, this page is not loading anymore on my MBP: the light-blue progress bar only makes it to the "p" in the "http://www.google..." string.
It's not the wi-fi's fault: here I type to you on my Mini.

  • Some web pages take long to load

I just recently got my mac and i like it better than my PC. There is only one problem I run into. I have noticed that some web pages take long to load and once they are loaded i try scrolling down or up and the web page lags big time. Also the grapics are not all that great. My PC runs the pages just fine. This is not a problem for all web pages but only a few. Mainly I see the problem on some myspace profiles. I was just wanted to see if anyone knows why I am having this problem.

    Welcome to the discussions!
It is slower in a measureable sense, or just a "seat of the pants" feeling?
Go to PC Pitstop and run their test. If you are getting the bandwidth that you are paying for, then it is an issue with your broswer.
I do not like Safari. It is slower than Camino, especially in conjunction with CamiTools. Safari is a memory hog and grabs CPU cycles like nobody's business. I have never had any issues with either Camino or Firefox. Either are much better than Safari, IMO.
If you miss the look of Safari, there are skins and even a great RSS reader that can be added to Firefox called Sage. It offers better RSS integration than Safari IMO.
In my experience, Macs just render pages slower than PCs due to poor coding or IE specific coding that lazy web authors. Safari is one of the most standards compliant browsers out there, but if the pages are coded poorly or browser specific, then there is nothing that Safari can do about it.
You can take a look at some settings, but let us know what speeds you are paying for from your ISP and compare those to the actual speeds. Then we can talk about possible solutions.

I found a fix for this, not only firefox but several other networking programs were broken as well (Outlook and IE were ok for some reason) so I reasoned that the Norton uninstall was incomplete somehow - I had done it from the add/remove programs in the control panel. Sure enough that's not enough to release Norton's tentacles in your system, there's an uninstall tool on their website (a whole set of them actually) that managed to carve it out completely and after a restart everything was back to normal. My machines will definitely be Norton-free from now on ... N

  • Long Delay Before Web Pages Start to Load, Then Load Suddenly Normally

I've been experiencing some problems with my internet connection here for the past couple of days.
This article from Apple support sums the problem up as far as I can tell: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106799
"This document discusses two causes of a situation in which a delay occurs before Web pages begin to load, followed suddenly by page loading at normal speed. The same delay may also be noticed for TCP/IP applications other than Web browsers."
However, their solution does not work. My DNS Servers box is empty as I have no DNS server to put in there (should I? I don't recall ever having anything there). The article is lacking in the fact that it doesn't explain what we should do if we don't have anything in that box (or we don't know what to put).
I did not change any settings before this started happening. The only thing I did was install Opera. I tried uninstalling Opera and the problem didn't go away. It happens on Opera, Firefox, and Safari. I can't for the life of me figure this out. I have even re-flashed my router firmware just to see if that was the problem, and nothing.
Any help would be nice. Thanks!

    Okay, a guess...

  • Firefox will hang on a website then everything else will no longer load and forces me to close and open firefox to get it to work.

As the question says I am having several issues with Firefox lately. I've tried disabling every addon, disabling JavaScript, running it in safe mode - no addons. Nothing seems to work.
I'll be on pandora listening to music, I open a new tab and go to a site like facebook. If that page does not load or hangs, my browser will no longer allow me to go to any other site until I close and open the browser. (Of course closing the tab that caused the issue). This happens about 10+ times every day, and I've supported firefox for years but this issue just keeps getting worse. It started when I upgraded to FireFox 6.

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

  • Loading page animation while JSF page is being loaded

    JSF 2.1
    Mojarra 2.1.7
    JBoss 7.1.1
The backing bean on my JSF page(s) are view-scoped, and during the initial request, the backing bean's @PostConstructor method may take some time to return as it is calling external systems that are outside of my control. Thus, during the RENDER_RESPONSE phase of the initial request to the JSF page, it may take, on average, 3 to 5 seconds to return ( sometimes longer than that .... which again, is outside of my control ). While this is happening, the page rendered is of course blank as the response has not been written yet.
Naturally, I am thinking of a way to show an animated loading image.
    1) I have seen suggestions of using a4j:status and a4j:region, but these are only valid for Ajax requests, while what I need is something that I can use during the initial request ( not a post back ), of a JSF lifecycle.
    2) Suggestions of using two HTML divs... one DIV shows the animated image while the other DIV wraps the real content, but is initially hidden. Then use window.onload() to swap the style of the two DIVs so that the DIV wrapping the real content becomes visible while the DIV wrapping the animated image becomes hidden.
But then again ... these DIVs will NOT be written to the response yet as I am still in RENDER_RESPONSE phase.
The only thing that I can think of is to:
    3) Create another page whose sole purpose is to show the animated image, then somehow immediately forward the request to the real page. The animated image on the first page will hopefully continue animating until the final page is rendered.
What have you guys done ?

This was the simplest solution by far .. although there are some quirks to be deal with when using IE.As usual :/ It remains a questionable product no matter how many times they reinvent the wheel.

  • Nokia E71x browser no longer loading content corre...

I have had my Nokia E71x since September and until now everything has worked fine.  A couple of days ago when I tried to use the browser, it started loading the content differently.  So now when I goto my AT&T Media Net homepage, the page is off centered and no longer loads pages with lots of content correctly.  Other webpages like google will load fine.
I took the phone into an AT&T device service facility and tried to master reset the phone.  That did not work.  Then we exchanged the phone for a different one and that did not work.  We switched SIM cards and everything but could not figure out what was going on.  We tried multiple phones and the same problem came up with each different phone.
Is anyone else out there having this problem with their Nokia E71x on AT&T?
Anyone have a solution to the problem?

  • Page never completely loads (busy circle)

In Firefox the green busy circle (in the upper tab) stays in an endless loop indicating that it's trying to load something. Is this "normal"?  Perhpas it does this when there are audio clips that are set to not autoplay? I ran a site report. No errors found. Could it be something to do with the fact that I have java script references in the head and body?  If nobody can find any obvious errors then

You do have a bunch of errors, including unclosed tags (visit the validator: http://validator.w3.org/ for a list of them), but I doubt that has much, if anything, to do with the continuous loading.
That has more to do with the number and size of the files the page is loading.
It does stop, after all of the audio and video files are finally downloaded.
Keep in mind, a single 3.39MB MP3 (which you have several of on the page) will take about 16 minutes to download on an average 56k modem connection of 3.5k/second. With 5-6 of those plus a video loading in the background, it takes a couple minutes to stop loading on my highspeed connection. Anyone using less than a cable connection is going to notice a long load time.
EDIT: It would load much faster if you gave the user a link to the audio files for download. You could also put the players in their own page and used an iframe that loads that page when the user clicks a link to hear the audio from the main page. The overall load time would be the same, if they click on each audio link, but if they don't, the page would finish loading more quickly than it does now.
