MSRT reports an infected file during scan, then reports no infections on completion

When running MSRT manually and doing a full scan, it reports ,,,,,Files Infected: 1,,,,,,while scanning, but when it completes, it reports no infections. Any ideas as to the problem here? I have also ran a full system virus scan, with nothing found.

Hi LJ,
The message "installing update 64 of 64 regedit Hkey Local_machine/curr,,,,,,," means the update of Microsoft Malicious Removal Tool, the file name and directory will be shown during the scann period if it is a virus, you can find the file and
deal it as Cyber’s advice.

I have run this MANY, MANY times, and never saw that before. Also, it happened when I had NOT run MSRT. I have since done a new install on another machine, and never saw the message. The machine that the message appeared on is still having issues, including
trying to connect to a non existent MAC address. By non existent, I mean it is NOT listed in the MAC data base. It is fake, and is only one character different than my own router's MAC address. That machine is downloading trojans, which my AV catches, but
it still has not caught the initial problem. Nothing I have run has found the issue, but it apears to be connected to Windows Explorer, as when I open it, the machine tries to connect to the false MAC. Any help here is appreciated. Thanks.

  • SCEP - Stuck on random files during scan

    Hello,
I am getting stuck on figuring out why SCEP is stopping on random files on a few computers. At the moment it is only a few because that is what has been brought to me. In the case of the current system it stopped once on some temp files, so we removed them
and restarted the scan and now it is stuck on a different file:
Wondering if anyone has some thoughts.

    Hi,
Could you scan only the stuck file? (Right click the file, click "Scan with System Center Endpoint Protection..."

  • Ipod freezes during sync then error that it cant read file...

A little pre-info... I have owned a black 30gb 5th gen (video) Ipod for a couple of years now. I plug it in fine, my computer recognizes it fine, Itunes works fine with it... everything works great.
I just bought another Ipod off ebay that is exact as mine except white- auction states the Ipod works fine, seller has awesome feedback, etc.. I bought this for a gift for my sister for Christmas. It is second hand, so warranty is expired.
I plug it in the computer, and first tried to transfer some normal text data via explorer. I had put this same data on my own black Ipod with no issues, words fine. The white? Lo and behold I get that "Data Cycle Redundancy" error during copy. My experience is that that has always meant that the original file is messed up, not the destination its being copied too... but in this case I know the original file(s) were/are ok.
And the Ipod freezes. So I safely unplug, and try to hard reset it. It wouldnt for a bit, and I noticed the Ipod was rather warm (but this might be because it was frozen for several minutes with the backlight still on as well). Finally I get it to reset. Same stuff happens again, again its hard to reset.
So then I decide screw it, forget adding the stuff via explorer, Ill just try to get the music on my computer at least, over via Itunes, after I first restore the Ipod.
Itunes opens... recognizes the Ipod... I go to copy music, and it copies until it essentially 'freezes'. I tried many times - its not a bad file because the same file would copy the other times Id try. It would freeze on any random file, during the write process.
Then Itunes comes up with this error:
"the ipod cannot be synced. the required file cannot be found"
I dont think this is referring to my files trying to be copied, they werent deleted or moved from their location since importing into the Itunes library. Im wondering if theres a system type file on the Ipod that Itunes speaks to as it transfers...and when the Ipod freezes... hence it cant be found...
At the same time I get this error from Itunes, I get a Windows XP bubble pop up that says:
"Delayed Write Failed - Windows was unable to save all the data for the file x. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."
Now again, my computer/windows is NOT the issue. Its the Ipod.
All the advice I have searched says to fix things on my computer. That includes that Apple support page in regards to those errors - it points the finger at my USB ports, etc - and thats simply not the case. If it was, my other Ipod wouldnt be working either - nor would my flash drives.
    Its the white Ipod.
I saw one site suggest to format the Ipod via Windows first, then do the Itunes restore, but the Ipod froze and Windows couldnt format.
I went into Device Manager and compared the two Ipod settings, both share the same settings. They are not set on 'enable write cache'.
I have tested the HD via Diagnostics, and the BL blinked after the test, showing the HD passed... so right now I can only think of three things... a bad logic board perhaps, or the Ipod system files are corrupt somehow no matter how many times I do the restore... should I revert to an older update; is that even possible. Or the HD is bad after all and its just being missed in the test.
So now... I need help. Am I missing something important? Is it a simple fix... a corrupt file thats freezing the Ipod somewhere - or did I get a bad Ipod from the seller.
Its so close to Christmas, if there was some simple fix(instead of it being a bad HD) I could fix it myself, Id rather do that than go through the hassle of returns/refunds. Not to mention, its always a gamble how the seller will react. Will they help, or say its not a problem on their end and try to screw me... then Ill have to go through Paypal for reimbursement and that takes 90 days at least...

I wish I had good news but all I have is information. I have access to 4 5th gen ipods. 2 black 30s and 1 white 30 and 1 black 80. The one white and one of the blacks work and have worked flawlessly for the past two years. The other black 30 and 80 started having the issue mentioned here some time after upgrading to iTunes 8. I tried to lowlevel format the iPod drive to fix any issues and that didn't cure the problem. I bought a MacBook a couple of months ago and restored my ipod to Mac format and low and behold it would accept files again! However it wouldn't let me fill the ipod beyond about halfway, this was on both ipods. Now the ipods have become slowly less and less fillable. Seems like syncing rather than putting the songs on manually seems to help, but again its getting worse all the time. (the two ipods that don't have any problems belong to my girls and the problem ones belong to my son and i) <- Grasping at straws I know, but my son and I are constantly changing the songs, playlists, videos and such.
When I bought my Mac the guys at the Apple store were shocked that I was having this problem and practically begged me to bring it in so they could see what it wrong with it. I will post an update when i do that.

  • On-demand scanning for only new files or scan a list from a file

I run a free to use file hosting service and with it are the risks of abuse for malware. In the past I've used ClamAV with a bash script to search for any files that are as old or newer than X minutes, usually about 5 minutes and put the found files listed line by line in a file and ClamAV will scan those files only. Put on a Cron for every 5 minutes to run. ClamAV's detection is pathetic though and has not caught most of the stuff it has needed to find. So switching over to Sophos Linux, it has done a great job already detecting multiple files of the uploaded files folder that ClamAV had already missed in the past. It takes just 3 1/2 minutes for it to scan through 3500+ files and archives totaling 17 gigs. I have it set to scan the whole directory every 5 minutes. This takes a while, even if it is under 3 1/2 mins. Ideally I want Sophos to only scan new files so it can be set to run every minute, or every 5 minutes, whether that be from it's command line or via it reading a file list. This way newly uploaded malware is taken care of as fast as possible for the security of the end users.  Here is the script file I use for Sophos already: #! /bin/bash

Sophos has 'decision caching' to speed up files that haven't changed since the last scan, while also allowing files to be re-checked against the latest threat definitions.

  • Getting path of parent folder of a file during a workflow execution

How can I get the parent folder/directory of a file during the execution of a workflow? I cant't find any actions i Automator that will give me this.
I want to make a general applicable automated workflow. The path can not be hardcoded in the workflow as different files and folders will be worked on each time the workflow is run.
The input to the workflow is a file or list of files. I want to be able to retrieve the path of the parent folder of these files at runtime.
Will I have to do this through AppleScript? If so, then how?
(in case you have seen my first post on this; it seems I wasn't specific enough so people didn't understand what I want to do. Therefore this second post. Sorry for the iconvenience)

    Hi anilsen!
If all selected files are within the same folder, it would be like this:
    For example:
    • Get Specified/Selected Finder Objects
    • Run AppleScript
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder"
set output to (container of item 1 of input) as alias
    end tell
    return output
    end run

  • How to update cgicmd.dat file during runtime?

I'd like to know how do update cgicmd.dat file during runtime. For example, I run a report one.jsp as
    http://<machine>:<port>/reports/rwservlet?one.jsp&USERID=uid/pwd@db&DESTYPE=cache&mode=bitmap&desformat=htmlcss
within this report there is a hyperlink to open another report named two.jsp.
before creating this hyperlink, I'd like to update cgicmd.dat file with passed in userID, pwd, and connection, so two.jsp can use this key for userinfo
so I can create hyperlink as follows
    srw.set_hyperlink('/reports/rwservlet?report=two.jsp'||
    '&cmdkey=userinfo&DESTYPE=cache&mode=bitmap&desformat=htmlcss');
    Thanks

To my knowledge the cgicmd.dat is only read when the OC4J starts, so you would have to come up with another solution. Using Single-Sign-On (SSO) is quite a good idea, and it's there for cases like this.

  • File Host Scan for MAC

    Hello,
Any guidance or help is appreciated.
Looking at performing a File Host Scan/Check for MACs and have not seen any exemples for file path.
Windows file check is easy and straightforward.
In a MAC, let's say we create a text file and place that in the Documents folder. Knowing that the MAC file check is case sensitive, we have tried the following paths:
    1-     /Documents/file.txt
    2-     ~/file.txt
    3-     /documents/file.txt
    4-     file.txt
Anyone knows what the file path should look like?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Paul

Did you want different labels or all the same?
If you want them all the same do a search and replace.
If you want them different then you will have to type them anyway or use Contacts.
Formatting is up to you, it is just Styles.
When you have it the way you like it, Save As Template and it will be in your Template Chooser.
What "Label Wizard" are you talking about? Macs don't do "Wizards".

  • Editing .tif file in Photoshop, then can't save as .jpg

A problem I've never encountered before. I have a few pictures that were scanned as .tif files. When I import them into Photoshop and work its magic, then save as a .psd file I can then not save the file as a regular .jpg. The jpg option does not appear under Save As. For the record I'm using PS 4 with Windows 7 (64). To the best of my recollection I've never had this problem before. Help.

Thanks. As it turns out in a fit of unexpected insight I just had figured that out. I know my way around PS pretty well, and hadn't thought of that. I appreciate your responses.

  • Handle LOCAL files during a web session

I'm developing an application with Forms 6i.
Please consider the following command line:
    text_io.fopen('c:\tmp.txt','r')
In client/server mode the file "tmp.txt" is searched on the local computer (on
    the client).
In web mode the file "tmp.txt" is searched on the server.
How can I open the "tmp.txt" file on the CLIENT computer, also in web mode?
Is there a way to handle local files during a web session?
    Thank you in advance!

There is a java upload bean available on OTN (somewhere in the javabean/pjc section of examplecode) ... this one lets you do what you want, but it's violating the java sandbox functionality and hence need to be certified/signed to use in a browser - which i personally think is somehwat a hassle ... also it just copies the file to the middletier - you still will need to then read it from there.
i've found that using the webdb/portal approach for file handling is much easier. if you alerady run on web then you probably anyway have installed 9ias or a webdb/portal server somewhere ... using web.show_document builtin and a very small webdb procedure (something like 10 lines of code) will allow you to easily upload a file directly into the database into an blob!
have a search through this forum ... i posted a working example a few days back (somewhen last week) on this forum!
    Cheers,

  • Properties Files during the build process.

Hi everyone, I have a question about files inside the src directory and how they relate to files in the /WEB-INF/classess directory.
From what I've read, eclipse copies the files inside "src" into "WEB-INF/classes" when building a project.
Inside my "src" folder I have a few properties files for my application, let's call them qe.properties, production.properties and final.properties
When I build my app (using Ant) I currently copy qe.properties into final.properties when building my application in QE. And production.properties into final.properties when building my application for production.
    Here is the command:
    <copy file = "src/qe.properties" tofile="src/final.properties" overwrite="true" />
Every once in a while a production build will have a qe properties file and vice versa (a qe build will have a production properties files).
I tried changing this using a symbolic link but I ran into the same issue, and worst yet, the file that get's copied inot "WEB-INF/classess" is not a symbolic link it simply contains the contents of the symbolic link.
How can I get around this issue?

I replaced the files with new files they are in the same location but they have different names.  It still does not work.
    It's very frusterating.
Everytime I make ANY changes to my original files I need to rebuild in encore.  For example, I have a dynamic link and I adjust a transition and then resave.  I have to build in encore from scratch (it will not build).
When encore works if I just save my encore file, close and then reopen it does not work anymore.
If I render the files and change anything in encore it does not work.
BTW the preview works perfectly.  It just freezes during the Build Process.
I also tried to build an image and this did not work (it froze too).
I'm assuming CS5 works with intel i7 and windows 7 and 8GB of Ram per the Adobe requirements.
Any other ideas (other than leave every instance of Encore up and never close the program down)?

  • How can I back up my files during a Kernel Panic?

Hello, I am new to these forums.
Okay, so last week I updated my Macbook Pro like I normally do (I'm assuming it was 10.5.7), but then when I restarted my macbook I saw the apple logo and then the screen turned grey and a bunch of numbers and letters filled the screen (which I now know is a Kernel Panic or something).
I am unable to login at all or even see the log-in screen, all I can get to is the apple logo when I first turn on the computer. I plan on making an appointment at my local apple store, but they told me to back up any files I didn't want to lose.
    So my question is...
How can i back up my files during a Kernel Panic if I can't even log in?
I have my original disks from when I got my macbook pro if that's any help?
Should I just tell my local apple store that I need help backing up my files?
    or am I screwed?
    Thanks for any help

Well, when I turn it on a box appears over the apple logo and says something like "please restart your machine or hold the power button for 7 seconds".
and the numbers and letters appear random to someone like me but I'm sure it says something to someone who knows about it. At the very beginning of the "random" numbers and letter it says something about kernel and panic and I googled some of the message and it kept leading me to other people who said it was a kernel panic.
Also I tried to start it while holding shift and it never goes to single user mode it just does the same thing as if I never pushed or held shift. I'll try the whole firewire thing if I can figure it out, but I don't have another mac so I'd have to do it with a PC.
Edit: Also I did one of those hardware tests using the osx dvd and the short test said i have an error (and when i googled that error it brought me to people with kernel panics) but when I did the extended test that took about an hour and a half it came back saying everything was fine.

  • Disable .ts file content scanning for properties RELOADED FOR WIN 8 (.1) + Solution

The first thread I started was:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/551eed27-6aaa-4ee2-8ab7-e843ae103c50/disable-file-contents-scanning-not-thumbnail-in-explorer-view-for-ts-files?forum=w7itproui
which applies to Windows 7. However with Windows 8 Microsoft added another layer of programs which scan the file contents.
The effect here is: I have .ts file here, recordings from my TV card. Some of them are above 10 GB.
When I CLICK, (not double click) the the explorer window is stuck for several Seconds (sometimes Minutes), and using Process Hacker (run with admin rights) I could clearly identify that explorer.exe was the culprit, scanning for file contents.
The first step is, as in the old thread, to disable to "classic" property, renaming (or deleting) .ts there:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\PropertyHandlers\.ts
    And there too!
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\PropertyHandlers\.ts
The extra stuff that has to be done is quite close, it applies to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE(\Wow6432Node)\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\SystemPropertyHandlers
and there the entry (in both, normal and Wow6432Node):
    .ts = {1E589E9D-8A8D-46d9-A2F9-E6D4F8161EE9}
First you have to take the ownership of SystemPropertyHandlers, then add youself as a user with full access rights to that part of the registry. Then delete the .ts line.
    Reboot and done.
If someone needs a video of "how do you do this", say so, but I will create it on a German Windows 8.1 machine, so the various menus will be in German.
Here is what it looks like in Process Hacker before disabling the useless property handler:

scanning photo and does scan then states ;Non writable will not save?????

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if it frightens you, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
