We have a requirement to not allow the Selection Criteria iview of MSS Reporting workset to get displayed, when the user selects a specific report from Reports iview.
Any pointers regarding the issue would be of great help.

It is not possible to avoid the display of Selection Criteria view at the call of a report that is part of MSS Reporting Workset.
The report was called in different workset

Using MSS Reporting Workset with SAP Queries

Hi,
we have created a number of SAP Queries and added them to the reporting tree shown in the MSS Reporting Workset.
We have created these queries to "Execute only with variant" and created the variant STANDARD for them to be run with.
If we then subsequently run the reports from the portal the variant is ignored. Does anyone know if this is the way it's supposed to work? and if there's a way to get the reporting workset to look at variants?

Which I agree with. I think it provides limited formatting feature. But in cases where you need ad-hoc report which needs minimal formatting. This is a good way.
Coming to Cross-tabs I noticed the difference here that. In OLAP Grid I got the hierarchy in a cross tab with expand and collapse feature.I am not able to do that in cross-tab. This is a kind of limitation for me as my requirements need that kind of a layout wherein you have a hierarchy in a cross-tab like layout. Is there a way that I can achieve that in cross-tab report using MDX.

Hi Bob,
Do you have the full path to your webgui service in your system's "ITS" settings in the portal? If so, try removing the /webgui/ from your system ITS Path and make it just "/scripts/wgate/"

MSS - Adding a Standard report to the reporting section

Hi All,
I want to add Birthday list report to the reporting section in MSS.
Right now I have ee due to retire report, I want to deactivate this report and add standard Report " Birthday List".
Please guide.
Checked PPMDT, there is no brthday list report. How to add this to the set of reports.?

the birthday list query had inconsistencies , resolved the inconsistencies and then could see the report in the MSS. For removing a report goto
Personnel management > HRIS > HIS > Define task Functions.
Remove the report entry which is not required. At the same place new reports can be added.

MSS 60.1.20: Reporting: limited to 38 employees

Has anyone ever ran into a problem within the MSS Reporting area of portals where if you select more than 38 employees in the selection criteria that the report just hangs. All of the HIS reports seem to be doing this for me: Service Anniversaries, Entries/Leavings, Birthdays, Phone List, etc. If I select 38 or less, the reports work fine. Any suggestions?

Can you check the log file and let us know what's the error you get there ? Would also request you to have a look at a backend and check of any dump.

MSS - selection list in Reporting Tool

Hi experts,
I've designed two orgview groups and two report categories for Reporting Tool of MSS. I would like to display each orgview respectively depending on the category of the report I select.
I know the portal calls the FM HRWPC_RFC_OADP_GET_ORGVIEWGRP to create orgview, but have no idea how should I enhance or modify the FM. Any idea? Thanks.

MSS Manager's Desktop Reports

I have created a new Function code and assigned to a category under MDT. The report shows up fine under MSS>Reports however, I get this selection screen (LPA Reporting) forcing me to select employees before getting to Reports Result. Is there a way to skip this step so that the actual report is launched directly?

in the customisation you can have a variant saved which runs for all the org unit
usually it is tough to skip

Hi Brian,
In R/3 navigate to t.code SPRO -> Integration with other mySAP.com Components. -> Business Packages/ Functional Packages -> Manager Self- Service -> Object and Data Provider -> Object Provider -> Define Rules for Object Selection
For direct reports - you can use the existing evalpath MSSDIREC and a rule already exist with the eval path MSS_TMV_RULE5.
if you want to use a different eval path create a new rule and include that rule into the object selection.
And in the iView properties need to mention the ruke you created.

Reports available in the Business Package for MSS and ESS

Hi,
I have searched sdn.sap.com throughout looking for a comprehensive list of reports available in the business packages for both MSS and ESS, i got a little bit of joy and found some of the MSS reports but not all on sdn.sap.com, can anyone please advise where i would find such information on both these packages, just to re-iterate, i am looking for a list of reports these business packages offer? any help much appreciated.

(1) ESS- We built our own custom PORTAL role/workset in which one of the worksets we created is called "Tools and Forms". Under that workset, we placed various pages/iViews that either are simple URL iViews that link to external documents and such (like vacation request forms since they do not do online leave requests yet) as well as a couple ot t-code iViews that run reports in ECC for the employee. Nothing very mind blowing there. Just some content creation on the portal side.....oh, and some config on the backend to create a Homepage Framework Area Page and all for it (I liked that part!)
(2) Wow....talk about perfect timing...I just had to document the way MSS sees the MDT reports in it's "reporting" area yesterday! haha Here goes the quick explaination....in configuration for MDT, you have various "scenarios". These kinda determine which "groups" of reports will show in MDT. For MSS for the Reporting webdynpro/service, the scenario is RPT0 (in ECC 5.0, at least). Soooo if you look at the function CODES assigned to RPT0, you will see several for Training and one for Accounting (Cost Centers)...you can reference the function CODES listed back to the "pool"/library of function codes a bit up/previous in the same config area for MDT(I think it is called "Define Function Codes"). However, there is one more piece you will see listed under RPT0....it is a DIRECT call to function MODULE "HR_HIS_READ" (this was a bugger to find because I could not find the "Maternity" report listed in the function codes and had to figure out where the heck it was coming from! haha). Anyways....what the function MODULE actually does is call the HR Information System (HIS) passing it the RPT0/MSS scenario. This returns the particular reports for Employee Data and Time&Attendance. You can see this if you run the HR_HIS_READ function directly and enter RPT0 for the second input value (first and third are not needed or you can just enter "*". Sooooo that is how the "magic" happens. Hope that explained it. From there, you can simply config you own scenario/reports to add into MSS if you like.

Reports in MSS

By using the standard delivered report workset in MSS, any R/3 report can be called in MSS. However it launches the ITS server, request log-in to the SAP R/3 system and then presents the information in the traditional SAPGUI format.
How can interactive reports ( where I need to select the org unit, personnel number etc.) be designed as a Java iview ?

Any report that you write in ABAP has to run in ABAP context. You can easily view this reports via ITS(SAP Gui for HTML) or SAP Gui. If you need to pull this reports in JAVA then you will have to write a RFC function module to execute this report and pass the (formatted)data back to JAVA. Java will then render this formatted data.
You also skip the ABAP part and rewrite all this report completely in JAVA where it will only get the data from SAP via RFC. Formatting and reporting will done on the java side.

MSS BW Reporting [Beginner]

Hello all,
I'm looking into implementing BW (3.5) Reporting on our EP (7.0)'s MSS Business Package. And I don't have any idea on how to configure the MSS to show the reports in the reporting workset.
Any guides or how-to's that you can share for this? It would really help me a lot.. (Assuming I've already successfully deployed the MSS package on our EP)

Use
This workset contains a collection of reports that are relevant for a manager.
Features
The Reports workset contains the Report page with the following iViews:
Launchpad (com.sap.pct.erp.common.reportlaunchpadpcd)
This iView is part of the Business Package for Common Partsand is called using Delta Links. In the delta link, the following application parameters are defined:
○     role=MSS
○     instance=REP
○     display_external=X
Balanced Scorecard Elements (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.balanced_scorecard_elements)
Reports in the Launchpad
BI content includes Web templates that are used to display reports in the Launchpad. To add the Web templates to the
Launchpad as example entries, execute the program FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES with the MSS role and the REPinstance.
Irrespective of the logon language, the program adds example entries with descriptive texts in English. The example entries provide you with an indication of how you can use the Launchpad. In Customizing for the Launchpad, you can tailor the example entries to suit your requirements.
Some of the Web templates are also available as iViews in other locations within MSS:

1. Quarterly Results by Profit Center
This report shows the costs and revenues, together with theprofitability, for each quarter on your profit centers accordingto period accounting.

3. Cost Centers: Cost Blocks Graphic
This report shows the actual and forecast values for the main cost blocks on your cost centers in graphical form.

5. Cost Centers: Operating Expenses

This report shows the assignments, demands and the resourcesqualifications required by an assignment.

Report launchpad is not working under MSS

Hi,
We are configuring MSS and now the report launchpad is showing errors like Role: MSS instance: REP NOT_FOUND.
I know we need to configure the MDT scenario and then change the iView property. But I could not find the documentation on which property in the launchpad iView to change and how to change it to mactch the scenario we defined in MDT.
Can anyone help?

Even i had the same probelm.. which i reported to SAP.. they replied me with folowing message :-

Kindly check whether corrections of Note 940552 are implemented in your
system.
Some of the customers reported the same issue. In their case they
got no reports if they run program #PWPC_CONV_MDT_TO_LPA# with type
#RPT0# because the Report Launchpad was not initialized.
You could also solve the problem if you start the customizing of the
report launchpad. ( Transaction FPB_LP_MSS_REP_CUST )
If you do that the first time you will get a popup
that ask you whether you want a tree at the left side or not.
For the Manager Self Service you could say no and then you must save
the launchpad.
Now the launchpad is initialized and you could run the report for
inserting the MDT reports.
If you want also add the financials report please implement at first
the correction at note 954301.
After that you could also insert the Financials reports.
I asume certain table contents are not delivered, because they form partof Launchpad customization.
Please implement any of the two solutions;
1) (Preferred sol.) Start the customization of the Launchpad (
Transaction FPB_LP_MSS_REP_CUST ). Check that table FPB_LP6_SNI is no
longer empty, and has the required entry. Then run the transaction to
convert.
2) Manually add the line to table FPB_LP6_SNI. The values are role =
'MSS', instance = 'REP', and sni_used = ' ' (blank). Then run the
transaction to convert.
