MSS and ADS

We are installing the MSS version of web dynpro. We have a straightforward environment thus far with a portal server (J2EE WAS) and an R/3 server (ABAP WAS). Accordingly we have installed the ESS and MSS java componenets on the portal server. ESS installed and working well with this arrangement.
We are beginning install/config of MSS Adobe-based PCR's, and from what I can glean from documentation and experience, 2 things seem to be true:
(1) the Adobe PCR forms themselves are resident within R/3 (probably included in a plugin), NOT in the java components (MSS or PCUI_GP) as one might expect
(2) to render the forms, you must have Adobe Document Services (ADS) installed on the R/3 server--not just on another portal server. ADS requires the J2EE add-in to the ABAP WAS. Therefore, it seems that use of the new PCRs requires the J2EE WAS add-in.
For those of you who have implemented "new" MSS, am I correct in making the 2 statements above?

let me try to at least answer parts of your question.
- Yes, the ADS need to be deployed on a J2EE WAS to generate PDF based forms (e.g. PCRs) in MSS
- You can deploy the ADS on any Web AS 6.40 J2EE engine. It does not need need to be installed on the R/3 server. Typically we install it on a separate machine. The ADS is called by MSS through Web Services. You just need to configure the Java and ABAP WAS according to the ADS configuration guide.
- The MSS forms itself as well as the form integration framework (called ISR) is delivered as part of MSS

I have MSS installed. However, when I go to start a Personnel Change Request form, I get a "Read timed out" error:

Also, in ABAP, program FP_TEST_00 never finishes running.
I have followed all of the steps in the Adobe Document Services Configuration Guide for NetWeaver 7.0:
1. The ABAP connection works fine with SA38 and FP_PDF_TEST_00
2. Username and password is fine (http://<server>:<port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config)
3. I have installed xACF locally
etc. etc.
Anything I might be missing? Any ideas? What version of Adobe Reader should I have?

Read Timeout using AdobeDocumentService/InteractiveForms within Web Dynpro. The problem may occur in complex system landscapes with proxies and firewalls. As a result, the servers have different names or ports when accessed internally. As the URL generation does not generate valid URLs or even firewalls are placed between the servers, the communication between Web Dynpro and the ADS fails.
If the system runs on stack 12, the latest WD runtime patch according to note 849851 must be applied. From stack 13 on, no additional patch need to be applied.
The communication between ADS and Web Dynpro should be configured to use SOAP only. As a result, the additional http calls between the internal servers are no longer used.
Use Visual Administrator to maintain propertysheet default:
go to Server -> Services -> Configuration Adapter -> webdynpro -> sap.com -> tcwddispwda
Edit the entry "sap.ADSCallingMode", change that value from "http" to "soap", save the changes and restart the cluster.

NetWeaver Portal and ERP 6.0: BI, ESS/MSS and full Portal on one machine

with ERP 6.0 you need a EP Core Portal for BI Java. An other EP Core Portal for HCM ECC/MSS. The iViews from this portal you integrate in the main portal via federated portal. But in this scenario i need to much portals and have a lot of maintenance costs (administration overhead for evry portal). For a small Customer i will build one Portal for all. It is possible e.g. to use the BI Portal with ESS/MSS and as full portal?

So you would like one BI installation with both the ABAP and the Java-stack with the full BI-functionallity and additionally the XSS-component and set it up to work against the ECC ABAP-only system ?
I think the scenario would actually work, but:
1) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your BI-system and not the ECC-system.
Is it possible to run the old XSS-components in the new java-stack ?
2) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your ECC-system and not the BI-system.
What if the new version of the XSS-component demands certain java-components which the BI-system do not have.
So my recommendation is still to run the java-stack on both systems.
ECC with the XSS-java-components and BI with the Bi-java-components.
This way you do not lock yourself into a corner and each system can be upgrade independent of the other.

Why arent any videos working on my firefox browser? Youtube has an error message, and all other videos and ads come up with a blank white screen

It's one of those problems where it works like one minute, and then suddenly stops working the next. I know for a fact it has to do with the flash player in some way. I've had this problem before and found the solution, but for some reason i cant find it again, and forgot how i solved it. I've tried to redownload both adobe flash player and firefox but it didnt solve anything, disabling adblock doesnt help, disabling the hardware acceleration a little but useless difference, i have tried to disable the flash player add-ons and enabled them, both dont work, i only have 1 version of flashplayer( the most recent), and I am too frustrated to keep searching for an answer that is correct, when all i can find are the wrong ones over and over again . If anyone knows how to solve the problem where the FIREFOX(only) browser shows youtube as having the error " an error has occurred. Please try again later. " and all other videos and ads have a white blank screen, PLEASE help
also, everything works on google chrome and IE

also, the last solution i had didnt require me to install an earlier version of flashplayer or firefox, and it was the same problem

Reports available in the Business Package for MSS and ESS

Hi,
I have searched sdn.sap.com throughout looking for a comprehensive list of reports available in the business packages for both MSS and ESS, i got a little bit of joy and found some of the MSS reports but not all on sdn.sap.com, can anyone please advise where i would find such information on both these packages, just to re-iterate, i am looking for a list of reports these business packages offer? any help much appreciated.

(1) ESS- We built our own custom PORTAL role/workset in which one of the worksets we created is called "Tools and Forms". Under that workset, we placed various pages/iViews that either are simple URL iViews that link to external documents and such (like vacation request forms since they do not do online leave requests yet) as well as a couple ot t-code iViews that run reports in ECC for the employee. Nothing very mind blowing there. Just some content creation on the portal side.....oh, and some config on the backend to create a Homepage Framework Area Page and all for it (I liked that part!)
(2) Wow....talk about perfect timing...I just had to document the way MSS sees the MDT reports in it's "reporting" area yesterday! haha Here goes the quick explaination....in configuration for MDT, you have various "scenarios". These kinda determine which "groups" of reports will show in MDT. For MSS for the Reporting webdynpro/service, the scenario is RPT0 (in ECC 5.0, at least). Soooo if you look at the function CODES assigned to RPT0, you will see several for Training and one for Accounting (Cost Centers)...you can reference the function CODES listed back to the "pool"/library of function codes a bit up/previous in the same config area for MDT(I think it is called "Define Function Codes"). However, there is one more piece you will see listed under RPT0....it is a DIRECT call to function MODULE "HR_HIS_READ" (this was a bugger to find because I could not find the "Maternity" report listed in the function codes and had to figure out where the heck it was coming from! haha). Anyways....what the function MODULE actually does is call the HR Information System (HIS) passing it the RPT0/MSS scenario. This returns the particular reports for Employee Data and Time&Attendance. You can see this if you run the HR_HIS_READ function directly and enter RPT0 for the second input value (first and third are not needed or you can just enter "*". Sooooo that is how the "magic" happens. Hope that explained it. From there, you can simply config you own scenario/reports to add into MSS if you like.

MSS and BW Reporting

Hello - does any one have any experience with MSS and BW reporting?
We have a requirement to implement BW reports to Line Managers through MSS.
For R/3 Reports we have no issue as we can use the standard structural authorisation function module to restrict access to empoyees directly reporting to the manager.
How can we restrict BW reports in the same way? i.e. When Manager runs the report they should only see data about the employees that report to them in the Org structure.
We are using BW 7.0.

I am kind of no clue about which authorizations a manager needs in BW system.
We are using EP6.0 SP16 and backend system is ECC5.0.
I have couple of questions.
1. What authorizations in BW system the portal user (Me with content admin, system admin, user admin roles) needs to view the BW reports or BW iviews?
2. Manager (MSS) can not view crystal reports in the work set 'Reporting' assigned to a manager in ECC5.0. Other iviews within the BP60.1 are working fine.
3. When manager tried to see a crystal report , it threw an error saying that

Having trouble with pop-up windows and ads for MacKeeper

I've been having trouble with pop-up windows and ads for MacKeeper and similar "services." Tried to download "MPlayerX" a week ago and it all started then. I thought I deleted the file but I'm still having trouble. I've been digging for solutions on here, but nothing I've found on here has worked yet--the VSearch stuff (I think) isn't on my hard drive. Any advice?

You installed a variant of the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
This malware has many variants. Anyone else finding this comment should not expect it to be applicable.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:

Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:

The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked

CProjects 5.0 and ADS - Netweaver 702 how to install?

We have to install cProjects and ADS in the same machine. After reading the master guide, I think I need to install a Netweaver 7 EHP2 Abap+Java.
I have downloaded the DVD 51040135_13, but sapinst doesn't have an option to install a dual ABAP+JAVA, only abap and only java.
However, the installation guide ppage has installation guides for abap, for Java and for abapjava, so I don't understand. Besides note number 1387319, says that it is possible AS ABAP, AS Java and AS (ABAPJava)
Do you have any idea? I need the cProjects and ADS in the same server.

hello, you probably have malicious software present on your system. please perform all these steps:

# afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
# finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
