I'm a bit new regarding MSS/ESS customizations and I would like to know where can I find the right customization path in SIMG_SPORT / SPRO or t-code for this error message on portal page :
"The properties for destination FP_ICF_DATA of type HTTP could not be located".

Hi all,
I'm new to the BP MSS/ESS and before make any change on WD applications, I would like to read your advices.
We need to create a validation on PCR(everytime a PCR is submitted several Infotype fields must be checked), where should I go for these changes? Straight on STD Web Dynpro application(in this case is MSS/PCR application) or is there a t table on SIMG_SPORT customization which I can provide this validation? How would you guys proceed on this case?

MSS UWL customization : Which .XML to modify and How?

Hello,
We have EP7 with MSS/ESS ERP 6.0 EHP4 and already configured the UWL system object with alias 'SAP_ECC_HumanResources'.
I am using the UWL iview from the MSS business package on portal.
I have a requirement to modify the task tab table removing few columns like 'Priority' and 'Status' etc.
Tried the option in UWL Admin as 'Click to Configure Item Types and Customize Views Using a Wizard' but that does not give me any dropdown option to modify any view.
I am going for the option to modify the xml file to implement the above change.
There are multiple .XML file's as below and I am not sure which one I should modify to change my view.
1. com.sap.pct.erp.mss.001 [Med]
2. com.sap.pct.erp.mss.tra [Med]
3. uwl.webflow.SAP_ECC_HumanResources [Low]
The UWL iview from business package has following properties as,
sap_uwl_viewname = com.sap.pct.erp.mss.AlertView
useNavigationId = com.sap.pct.erp.mss.Main
Can someone please advise which .XML file I need to modify and how?
After customizing the .XML fime do I need to make any change in the iview property as well?

Can you please help me understand why the system ID is 'ADHocSystem' and not my new system 'SAP_ECC_HumanResource' with connector 'WebFlowConnector which i have already registered ?

The section "Current Item Information" provides information specific to the UWL item that is currently selected.
I am not sure which item you have selected in your UWL inbox but it appears to be using an XML configuration file that is related to Collaboration. That is the reason you are seeing the AdHocSystem in the properties.
What is the worflow task associated with this item ?
Make sure that your task is mentioned in your XML configuration files and also your XML configuration files have a higher priority.
I can see its pointing to the com.sap.pct.erp.mss.001 configuration.
Yes - the section "Current Navigation Information" is pointing to the com.sap.pct.erp.mss.001 configuration.
So as I understand from your response, I need to change the com.sap.pct.erp.mss.001 .XML file and rename it and then upload it to the configurations. and change the iview property UINavigation ID to <'>.
Is it correct, please advise?
This is not as simple as that.
Based on the changes you are trying to make, you will need to make XML changes and upload (with High priority) for various tasks, views, etc.
Please do some reading and get started with this and you can achieve this in a few steps.

ESS customization : No impact in the Front ENd

Hi ALL,
I made the ESS customization in the IMG . (so ressources , area groups, area ...).
In the Front End , I stil have the same display.
I empty the cache and restart the IE but still have the same result.
I tried to change the mapping area group->area in the standard area group SAPESSDEFAULT but even for this nothing change ?
Any idea ?

I believe your overview iview is not pointing to correct SPRO Area Group page ID.

ESS Customization in WebDynpro ABAP

Hi Friends,
We are working on ESS Customization in Webdynpro abap. we have an issue.
We have General Data webdynpro screen having some fields, same screen framework is using for Travel Request creation, expense creation, in some other screens. Now I would like to add some more fields in the screen for Travel request creation.
I need some parameter to differ which screen it is.
please help me which parameter will differ, otherwise give me code to fetch the iview name in webdynpro. with this I can differentiate the screens.

Is it possible to translate MSS/ESS WDJ content without using NWDS?

Hi there, is it possible to translate MSS/ESS WDJ content without using NWDS? CTRL+Right Click allows only to hide the text element, portal content translation doesn't allow to translate Web Dynpro Java content.

Using CtrlRight click you can modify the names, hide the text . on the ESS/MSS ivew's preview and cTrlright cllick.
then you will get options to hide,change the text . etc.
For deploying,changing the WDJ files you need NWDS. without NWDS it's not possible

Some questions relating to ESS Customization

Hi Gurus,
Have a couple of questions regarding ESS Customization. And also to understand ESS better.
1. I am trying to pull out the Additional Personal Info stored in Infotype - 0077 and show it in Portal. For this, I am planning to write a new functinal module/ RFC which would return the infotype values to front end. Is that ok or is there any best practice for doing this?
2. Where is the Home Area Page defined? Is it part of the WebDynpro component or is it stored as a configurable element in the backend? Any directions would be greatly appreciated. I am still in the process of importing the ESS Components into the track. So, couldnt get to see the code yet.
3. Which transaction can I use to see the various Infotypes' descriptions? And which transaction/ table can I use to see the
infotypes'contents or fields?

Portal role in MSS/ESS

can we use the new MSS/ESS without the Portal? the new MSS/ESS are based on WebDynpro, and WebDynpro applications run as stand-alone J2EE applications.

The new MSS/ESS based on web dynpro is tightly integrated with Enterprise Portal and utilizes a lot of functionality from portal. So while it may be theoretically possible to access some parts without portal, but for production use one is better off with going the integrated with portal route.

In this IMG activity, you define country-specific services. When an employee starts a service, the system determines the employee's country grouping and checks if there is a country-specific service definition in the V_T7XSSSERSRVCG and V_T7XSSSERSRVCGC views.
If there is a country-specific service definition, the system uses this definition.
If there is no country-specific service definition, the system uses the general service definition in the V_T7XSSSERSRV and V_T7XSSSERSRVC views. If the general service definition does not contain a resource object, the system does not display the service (see example 2).
This enables you to define country-specific variations of services for certain countries while using a general service definition for all other countries.

MSS Homepage Customization

Hi All,
We have a requirement where in MSS Homepage customization is required.Portal version in use is EP5.0 and we have SAP 4.6C as R/3.
Customization through Homepage Framework concept is not there in SAP 4.6 C it seems.And help is this regard with be highly appreciated.

It sounds like your "Home Page" is actually a Workset Map iView, as there is no Homepage configuration in 4.6C.
You should just be able to create a new iView/Page and link it to the Workset at the same level as the other pages that appear in the menu. The Workset Map iView should then pick up the new page and display it.
You can enter descriptive text and specify a pictogram (graphic) in the properties of the new page.

ESS customization deploy

Dear all,
We have some customization on ESS, and our consultant deploys the modified component by compile the component in NWDS as an EAR file, and manual deployment by the SDM tool.
It looks horribly wrong to me, as I think it should deploy via NWDI as a SCA.
Can someone please kindly clarify for me?

Thanks for the confirmation, would like to ask one more question.
As far as I know, in general the ESS customization will deploy development environment by component, but in production environment, it will deploy as SCA.
Because we don't have consolidation environment, I would like to know if I can fully simulate the production environment by assembly the SCA and deploy to development environment via SDM manually
