MSS Time Approval Report

Hello,
I am on EP7.0 ECC 6.0 and have 2 reports in MSS -- Time Approval Overview and Absence Quota....the Absence Quota works fine but when trying to view the Time Approval report it says "the results are displayed in a separate window" ....a new window comes and then disappears....I wonder for the cause for this..
Any help would be highly appreciated.

This issue is cause by authorization as i have just found out after weeks of going round in circles. Put a trace on in the  backend to narrow down the auth object and missing values.
I know its a very an old post but it will save someone else some time

  • MSS Time Approval - multiple (different) selection options for manager?

    Hi all
    I am setting up MSS Time Approval delegation in ERP2005 without workflow, leave request, nor portal development environment set up.
    In this case, the customer needs to have multiple selection options for who to approve:
    1. The manager's direct reports (standard functionality)
    2. All subordinates, all levels down
    3. Delegate's (manager or non-manager) view of a particular (other) manager's direct reports
    3b. This might extend to a set of different delegation selections
    4. Add or remove certain individuals
    Now, getting 3. and 4. to work was simple using the BAdI (I think the enhancement spot is named APPR_CUST), method ...-edit_selection, but I am having difficulties with 2. and 3b. Now I am thinking along these lines, and I would greatly appreciate your input:
    A. It seems that the MSS "Approve working time" app only loads the data selection at the entry into this screen (INIT command from portal), using the start perspective determined for example by the IMG for defining the approval profile <-> view. My debugging suggests that the view change from the drop down menu (CHANGE_PERSPECTIVE command) only picks a different way to present the same data set.
    Could anybody please confirm or contradict this conclusion?
    B. Is it possible to present the entire "Approve working time" section in MSS in multiple different copies so that they would all generate an INIT command? Or is it possible to copy and modify the entire MSS tab, resulting in an ESS tab, one MSS, one "D"SS, one "A"SS (well, not suggesting that the top manager is one, but you get the drift...) and so on?
    If either of this were possible, it would be simple to make two modifications, one at the beginning of the FM called by the portal and one at the FM that returns the start perspective.
    So far I have been trying to catch and alter the CHANGE_PERSPECTIVE command into an INIT in the back end, but the Time Approval functionality is a bit too complex for me to feel entirely comfortable with this approach.
    Your input is much appreciated!
    Kind regards
    Niclas Arndt

    We too are using MSS for time approval of time entered via ESS.  We are on ECC 6.0 for the backend (no enhancement packs, at least not yet), currently sp stack 10 with hrsp 24, and EP 7.0 with stack 10 for the ESS/MSS business packages.  We are using the standard MSS UWL functionality for the approval, so it is workflow-based in my understanding.
    In other parts of MSS, the managers can see a few levels deep in the organization structure, based upon the definition we gave for their structural profiles.  For instance, in the team calendar/overview, or other team information, they have a choice for multiple levels or only direct reports.  However, in the time approval application, only direct reports are shown, so if a manager goes on vacation, at present the only way to cover time approvals for that manager's employees appears to be to temporarily assign a new 'chief' to that org unit, so HR involvement becomes necessary.  The manager doesn't have any method for delegating the approval or other MSS authorities.  We were hoping that by allowing multiple levels in the structural profile, such approvals would "roll up" to the next level, i.e. the manager's supervisor, so the next level manager could act as a backup to his/her managers on vacation.  That doesn't work, however.
    We have heard that a delegation feature for MSS will be available in an upcoming release, but I haven't found any information regarding whether that requires an upgrade, an enhancement pack, a later service pack level, or what or when that functionality will be available.  Does anyone know anything about that?

  • MSS Time Approval

    Hi,
    We are using ECC 6.0 and ERP2005 BP MSS 1.0. We are trying to implement the MSS Time Approval iView, it works for the direct reporting manager approving his/her employee's timesheet. We are not using workflow, the managers from time to time use the time approval web application to approve time.
    The old time approval application is using Manager Desktop and support delegation. Using the new web time approval, I am not sure how to enable delegation to another managers so that they can approve others' employees timesheet delegated to them. Any ideas how we can enable delegation are very much welcome.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ti.

  • MSS Time Approval - Detailed approval view shows time data for different PN

    Hi Experts,
    We're using the standard MSS time approval without workflow and here're 2 issues we have:
    There're multiple time records for multiple employees in MSS for approval.
    1. When manager tried to select all the records for one employee and click the "Approve" button in the collective approval screen, then all the records will be approved including records of other employees.
    2. When manager click the hours of one record for a certain employee to go to the detailed/individual view, other employee's time data will be displayed in the detailed view window.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Hongling

    Hello Kamalbabu,
    after Migration of our ess applications from WebDynpro JAVA to Web Dynpro ABAP we have a problem that sounds similar to the one you descriped above.
    In POWL the button 'details' (detail view) for leave request approval seem to have no function.
    Because your post is a few years old, I guess you solved the problem and hope you can share your solution with us.
    You will find more information about our specifc problem in this threat: http://scn.sap.com/message/15482063

  • MSS Time Approval Layout

    We are implementing ESS/MSS in Portal 7.0, ECC 6.0. For working time approval, I would like to provide managers with the ability to view employee time entries in a grid layout - similiar to what the employee uses to enter work time, also similiar to what's available via CATS_APPR_LITE. I've heard that this layout/view was available in previous portal versions, but I've not been able to verify this. Does anyone know if this layout/view was ever available or how to develop this?
    My other option is to create an iview linking to the CATS_APPR_LITE transaction, but I've had problems limiting the employee selection to just direct reports, not indirect reports.
    I appreciate any guidance/assistance.

    Please check the configuration ie available
    You can select the columns to appear
    In the IMG (transaction SPRO), go to
    - SAP Customizing Implementation Guide
      - Cross-Application Components
        - Time Sheet
          - Specific Setting for CATS regular

  • MSS Time Approval Configuration and Time Approval that breaks from OM Struc

    Hi,
    Can any one let me know how we configure the MSS for below requirement.
    Time Approval Configuration
    Custom Relationship Configuration for Time Approval that breaks from OM Structure
    Thanks,
    HCM

    depends on your settings in workflow 'agent determination'.
    in sap std workflow the agent for leave approval by default is the 'chief' position holder of an org unit.
    so i guess you may want to copy the std workflow into your customer name space and have a workflow consultant customise it to enable the workflow to use the z-relationship object instead of the chief position holder.

  • MSS - Time Approval Lock

    Hi Experts,
    I have tried to search the thread for locking approval on MSS, but couldn't find anything.
    We would like to restrict the Manager from approving time for a particular period. Say (One Week). How can we restrict the same? Is it done through SAP Security or on MSS?
    Would really appreciate your kind response on this.
    Thanks,
    Aashish

    Hi Aashish, there is no a standard parameter to do this.
    You could custom the approval step in your WF or make a NWDI development for Leave Request: Approval iview (don't forget make settings to call your custom iview from the WF).
    Also, please explore the BAdIs:
    PT_ABS_REQ (Enhancements for Leave Request)
    PT_GEN_REQ (Control Processing Processes for Web Applications)

  • MSS Time Approvals POWL - add fields

    Hello,
    We are implementing MSS Time Approval POWL on Portal and want to add Employee Subgroup and reduce the Widths of existing fields of the POWL Query 'Working Time Approval'.
    The query used is MSS_POWL_CATS_APPROVAL_1 and the Feeder Class is CL_HRMSS_CATS_APPROVAL_POWL.
    Any help would be highly Appreciated.

    Hi Siddharth,
    The links you provided above are useful but do not mention the exact place where the fields can be added.
    When I digged further into it , I found that there are several Classes and Interfaces being used to build the Columns like
    Class     :   CL_XSS_CAT_APPR_RFC_CMD_TOOLS
    Class     :   cl_xss_cat_table
    Table Type    :    HRXSS_CAT_COLUMN_INFO_T
    Interface    :           IF_XSS_CAT_COLUMN_INFO
    Class        :          cl_xss_cat_column_info
    Class        :             CL_XSS_CAT_TABLE_TS_BASE
    Where's the exact location where the code needs to be added ?
    Please help.

  • MSS Time Approvals - Send Email on Rejection

    Hello All,
    We are on ERP 2005, MSS 1.0.
    We are using the standard webdynpro application " Approve Time sheet data"
    in MSS ( not using workflow ). In the MSS -> Time approval piece of IMG we can check mark a box that says "send email on rejection". This email however is sent to the employee's R/3 Inbox (not workflow inbox). We would like this email to be sent an external email id - how can this be achieved ?
    Thanks,
    Mark.

    Only Action items go to the Workflow inbox ie Notifications that reuiqre an Action to be preformed by the User on the Workitem. In this case, I guess it is just an information sent to the User & hence going to the SAP in-box.

  • MSS Approval Report Links to Busines Workflow Task in UWL

    Hello All,
    I have a scenario below that I'm hoping you can help.
    I copied the standard business workflow task "TS31000007: CATS Approval by Supervisor" to create our own task (general task) and link the 'CatManagerApprove' application and 'sap.com/msscatapproval' package to this task in the Workflow Visualization Configuration.
    We then assigned this new task to the time data entry profile for the portal.  Once, employee released the working time, the task is created and send to the Universal Worklist.
    The manager can then access the UWL and open this approve time workflow task. This task is open to the MSS Approval Report (similar to what appear under the MSS > Tasks > Approve Time by Manager).
    However, I have copied the Approve Time by Manager to our own and changed some of the  order of the column and header text and assigned to the MSS role.
    I would like to have this CATS approval task open to the same approval report view/layout as in the MSS Approval Report.
    I've tried to change the layout (column order) through portal contents of the standard MSS Approval Report because I thought it was reading from there, but it's not.
    Does anyone know how this can be done or where to point to the MSS Approval Report on the portal.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Tam

    Hi Karri,
    We were able to use the launch iview task to launch our specific iview but I cannot seem to get it to recognize the workitem. In other words, when I click on the task in the UWL, my approve working time iview appears but it does not have the data that is from the workflow task item. Attached is the XML code that I used:
    <ItemType name="uwl.task.webflow.TS93000001.SAP_ECC_Financials" connector="WebFlowConnector" defaultView="DefaultView" defaultAction="launchIView" executionMode="default">
          <ItemTypeCriteria systemId="SAP_ECC_Financials" externalType="TS93000001" connector="WebFlowConnector"/>
          <Actions>
            <Action name="launchIView" groupAction="" handler="IViewLauncher" returnToDetailViewAllowed="yes" launchInNewWindow="yes" launchNewWindowFeatures="resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,directories=no">
              <Properties>
                <Property name="newWindowFeatures" value="resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,directories=no"/>
                <Property name="page" value="pcd:portal_content/net.saccounty.SacCounty/net.saccounty.approve_ts_data"/>
                <Property name="openInNewWindow" value="yes"/>
                <Property name="display_order_priority" value="5"/>
                <Property name="workitemId" value="${item.externalId}"/>
              </Properties>
              <Descriptions default=""/>
            </Action>
          </Actions>
        </ItemType>
    I thought the line <Property name="workitemId" value="${item.externalId}"/> would pick up the work item ID, but it is not working. Any suggestions?
    TS93000001 is our task. approve_ts_data is our iview. It opens in a new window correctly and goes to the correct iview, just is not the actual task data.
    Thank you,
    Mark.

  • MSS Time sheet appearing to reporting Manager and Unit Head

    Hello Experts,
    We are implementing MSS in project and we are facing a problem:
    - We have Org structure
    Unit Head (chief Position)
    ^
    Asst Manager (not a chief postion) reports to Unit Head
    ^
    Associates (not a chief postion) reports to Asst manager
    Now when employees goes and submits his time sheet it appears correctly to Asst Manager  in MSS Time sheet Approval by Line Manager.
    Now the problem is that Associate's time sheet is also appearing to Unit Head. Incase Unit head selects it and approve, it will get approved which is incorrect. The Associates time sheet should only appear to Asst Manager not to Unit Head.
    Please help us how we can resolve this problem.
    thanks
    venkat

    As per your scenrio time sheet approval only for one level only. In workflow try to use logic A002 relation ship (Reports to). That means employees reporting manager.
    Discuss the same with your workflow consultant they will help you. Whoever is submit time sheet & it will go to employee line manager using A002 Relation ship.

  • Time Approval in MSS

    Hello Gurus,
    We  want to implement the Time Approval in MSS using the Webdynpro Application sap.com/msscatapproval/CatManagerApprove and don't want to implement workflow for this since users want to do a collective approval .....how can we implement this ?....we are also not using chiefs.....Please help.

    Hi R Kumar ,
    Can you let me know the exact requirements. You can obviusly do the collective approvals using the "sap.com/msscatapproval/CatManagerApprove " een when using the WF. Infact the out-of-the box solutions works this way.. So why do you need to not have the workflow? I do not see any down sides of having a work flow here.
    regards

  • Working time approval with MSS

    Hello,
    I am trying to configure the MSS in order to approve the recorded times. Using cProjects for resource handling I would like to see the times to approve in the hierarchy of the project (with project, phase and taks). I would like this hierarchy in combination with the personal no, ... by choosing different views.
    At the moment I only found the time approval application for the line manager. This isn't sufficient for us in terms of userfriendlyness.
    Now I am searching the application sap.com/msscatapproval/CatProjectApprove in my portal. Unfortunately without success at the moment.
    Could someone describe me how you are using the record time approval? How does the hierarchy of the items look like. Did you write your own application? Is it possible to drill down and drill up the data?
    Thank you,
      Vanessa

    Hi Mariana
    You would have the use the workflow and create a Portal role containing only UWL
    Best wishes

  • MSS working time approval by project leader

    Hello all Gurus,
    We are implementing ESS / MSS with ECC6. We are in the need to approve time recorded in ESS. We have completed the time entry part. The problem comes in the authorization with MSS. We need the person responsible (project lead) in Project System (PS) to approve time for resources. We have created the approval profile in SPRO, we have asigned the parameter CATS_APPR_PROF in su01 as it was mention in past forums. We assigned the MSS roles and activated them. We assigned in the OPS6 transaction the person responsible of the project (project lead).  When we go to the time approval in MSS it shows that there is no records to approve.
    Is there any more configuration to this or does anyone have any solution or experience in project leaders approving time with MSS.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Enrique Lona

    Raj,
    Thanks for the the quick answer. Please could you send me a little more information into where to configure OADP settings for time approval. And how to set the evaluation path.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Enrique
