MSS to ESS migration

Hi,
We were using Leave Application in MSS mode where the Manager raises the leave on behalf of the employees and approves by himself. Now we have a requirement to migrate to ESS where the employee raises the request and it has to go to the manager for Approval. We are using EP with Webdynpro Java where we raise the request.
Currently we are not using any Workflow since there is no approval required. And we are using two std FM PT_ARQ_REQUEST_PREPARE and PT_ARQ_REQUEST_CREATE and one Z_FM which is called after 'save'. This is the current application that is used.
Now we require to convert it to ESS where WF has to be used. I am not sure how to execute this conversion.
Can we use the Std WorkFlow WS12300111 for our rqmt?
Is it required to use another FM PT_ARQ_REQUEST_EXECUTE along with the WF?
If we use WF for approval, will it get saved in the R/3 by default or do we need to use the FM PT_ARQ_REQUEST_EXECUTE?
Can anyone help with the steps how can we execute this?
Regards,
Aishwarya.

Hi,
Please find the following setting for configuration .
Goto SPRO then follow following path

Role group : 00000001
Name of Role group : SAP Standard
Define Processing Processes for Each Rule Group (following is E.g)
Role group : 00000001

PSG : 01
A/AType : 0420
Type Text : Seminar/course/training
Start Date : 01.01.1800
End Date : 31.12.9999
then once you make entri here you need to click up on details ( select that row then Ctrl + Shift + F2 )

  • Reports available in the Business Package for MSS and ESS

    Hi,
I have searched sdn.sap.com throughout looking for a comprehensive list of reports available in the business packages for both MSS and ESS, i got a little bit of joy and found some of the MSS reports but not all on sdn.sap.com, can anyone please advise where i would find such information on both these packages, just to re-iterate, i am looking for a list of reports these business packages offer? any help much appreciated.
    Thanks
    John
P.s any documents can be sent to [email protected]

    @John
    (1) ESS- We built our own custom PORTAL role/workset in which one of the worksets we created is called "Tools and Forms". Under that workset, we placed various pages/iViews that either are simple URL iViews that link to external documents and such (like vacation request forms since they do not do online leave requests yet) as well as a couple ot t-code iViews that run reports in ECC for the employee. Nothing very mind blowing there. Just some content creation on the portal side.....oh, and some config on the backend to create a Homepage Framework Area Page and all for it (I liked that part!)
    (2) Wow....talk about perfect timing...I just had to document the way MSS sees the MDT reports in it's "reporting" area yesterday! haha Here goes the quick explaination....in configuration for MDT, you have various "scenarios". These kinda determine which "groups" of reports will show in MDT. For MSS for the Reporting webdynpro/service, the scenario is RPT0 (in ECC 5.0, at least). Soooo if you look at the function CODES assigned to RPT0, you will see several for Training and one for Accounting (Cost Centers)...you can reference the function CODES listed back to the "pool"/library of function codes a bit up/previous in the same config area for MDT(I think it is called "Define Function Codes"). However, there is one more piece you will see listed under RPT0....it is a DIRECT call to function MODULE "HR_HIS_READ" (this was a bugger to find because I could not find the "Maternity" report listed in the function codes and had to figure out where the heck it was coming from! haha). Anyways....what the function MODULE actually does is call the HR Information System (HIS) passing it the RPT0/MSS scenario. This returns the particular reports for Employee Data and Time&Attendance. You can see this if you run the HR_HIS_READ function directly and enter RPT0 for the second input value (first and third are not needed or you can just enter "*". Sooooo that is how the "magic" happens. Hope that explained it. From there, you can simply config you own scenario/reports to add into MSS if you like.
    Hope this helped!

  • Must all SAP MSS, SAP ESS and SAP PCUI_GP be of the same SP level?

    Hello,
in order to fix an error in XSS we need to upgrade SAP PCUI_GP to SP 10. Is it therefore necessary to upgrade also the rest of the components building XSS (SAP MSS and SAP ESS) also to SP 10 or can they stay on SP 9 as they are now? Is there an official SAP document answering my question?
    Regards,
    Adam

    adam,
the MSS and ESS should work independently, but both require PCUI_GP as a base-component, so these versions should be equal.
you can try to use different SP-levels, but this is not supported & what's the problem to keep them on the same level?
depending on the changes on each SP-level (e.g. if there are only country-specific changes for countries you don't need or text-corrections, check the notes for the SP-levels) you can risk it...

  • Can we call a screen in MSS from ESS ?

    Hi Gurus,
I need to call the Create Substitution page of MSS from the ESS Leave Request Overview Page. We are on NWBC 7.1
The requirement is that the managers, when they try to create a leave request, realize that they have not created a substitution. So they do not want to go all over to the MSS page, then navigate to Substitution rule..... Instead they want a button added in the Leave Overview page of ESS so that they can easily navigate to the MSS Substitution page.
Adding a button is easy, however I am not sure how to call the event. I am trying to add the code in the Class CL_HRESS_PTARQ_APP_CC_ASSIST, by enhancing it, however not sure how to call the MSS screen from here!
Is this an easy development/change with few lines of code? And how to do it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Jack

Calling a remote function is performance issue and you are using it with the remote cube...
It is possible but the performance may be very bad.. in the transformation, you can call the remote function. so this will be done once... calling the FM at the field level will be result in bad performance

  • Question about Copying an MSS iViews from Migrated Business Package

I have copied the iViews from the MSS migrated content and placed in my own folder.  I then changed some of the properties on the copied iViews.  I assigned my copies to a role.  The problem is that the iViews, when ran in the portal, are still using the properties on the original iViews which I copied instead.  What have I missed?  Is there some settings I need to change after copying an iView?

I recopied the iViews and they seemed to work correctly after that.  Portal iView copying is a bit buggy.

  • What a basis person can do for MSS and ESS on NW04s (EP7)?

Is it to add the business packages only.
    Please advise. Thanks!

    Hi,
The steps required to configure the ESS/MSS Business packages are briefed in the
    Blog below.
Most of them have to be carried out by the Basis Administratror.
After this initial setup HR functional person,Webdynpro developer etc can
    take over.

  • What skills needed to enable ESS and MSS in ECC6.0?

We are upgrading to ECC6.0 from 5.0.  We have been using MSS and ESS (old ITS version of ESS) for 5 to ten years.  What skillsets does my HCM IT team need in order to enable this functionality?  I have been trying to find classes on BSP pages and Webdynrpo without success.

    Jim
On ECC 6.0 with EHP 4, you would need Business Package 1.41 for ESS/MSS.
Lets call it right, its not EP 7, its called NW 7.0. Yes, upgrading to NW 7.0 is required for EHP 4.
Once again, EHP 4 is too fresh to implement. Recommended solution is ECC 6 with EHP 3, Business Package 1.3 and NW 7.0.
Apply the latest service patches for a smoother ride.
For functional activities, refer to http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/42/fbded750e61febe10000000a422035/frameset.htm to know whats new in EHP 4.
