MSS web dynpro personalization fails
We have upgraded to NW04s SP10 (standalone protal) and ERP2005 ECC 6.0. When we use the web dynpro personalization (preview iview, ctrl+right mouse click) we are able to change labels, fields, etc. and we can see the change when we choose apply/ok. If we then close the preview and preview it again the change is gone. Help! I have also opened a customer message with SAP.
Hi Daniel,
Did you get this issue sorted out.
If so could you please tell me how to replicate the changes done through ctrl+right click(UI Personalisation using Portal).
Regards,
Sreenath

Error «The entered value is not on the list of valid values» in the hierarchy of mss web dynpro abap
Hello Experts
The error «The entered value is not on the list of valid values» in the hierarchy of mss web dynpro abap occurs after manager’s following actions:
selected detailed Team View ;
selected hierarchy;
changed style of the hierarchy to any other (for example, the vertical);
the error occurs after attempting to do any action.
Our system is EHP7.
If someone faced with this error, please give me advice how can i resolve this problem.Hi John,
Sorry for the delay in replying. No, we do not have the same problem if we understand you correctly.
"We have bypassed the MSS Home Page and just embedded the Detailed Team View as a standalone application in our MSS portal role" - we also made for the our customer. BUT we have error «The entered value is not on the list of valid values» in our standard system.

MSS Web Dynpro code modification
Hi,
We are using XSS component on top of ECC 5.0. I need to make a small change to the standard Web Dynpro code delivered by SAP. Is there is an alternate way to modify the code without implementing JDI? Your thoughts are welcome...
Regards,
GNHi Raju,
Could you please gice me pointers on how to go about modifying the standard SAP ESS/MSS Web Dynpro applications?
Is there any documentation for doing the same?
Thanks and Regards

I was trying as you suggested, I was trying to add the link to the FAQ's but looks like the wiki is locked or I dont have permission to create a page in it. Is there any other way to do it?

Web Dynpro Java : Failed to get deployable object part info for component
Currently we have a web dynpro java project which connects to the ABAP backend with Web Services. Everything seems fine, and when we transport to the production server via NWDI, we have the following error. Everytime we try to access the application , the error is occurred.
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to get deployable object part info for component com.sie.attachmentcomp.AttachmentComp
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.cal.ClientComponent.getComponentDeploymentDescription(ClientComponent.java:784)
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.cal.ClientComponent.createComponent(ClientComponent.java:934)
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.cal.ClientComponent.createComponent(ClientComponent.java:177)
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.components.ComponentUsage.createComponentInternal(ComponentUsage.java:149)
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.components.ComponentUsage.createComponent(ComponentUsage.java:116)
It is working properly in our development , and testing environment. Only production has this error. And one weird thing is that this particular error occurred only sometimes to some user. For example; I could not access to the application with this error yesterday but my friend can access. Today, I can access in the morning but my friend cannot. For another friend , Yesterday he can access by using IE but not by Firefox. But today Firefox is fine but not with IE. It seems crazy.
For more information, in our J2EE engine for the production server, we have 3 server nodes (clusters). And we are not sure it is the source of the problem. Is there any solution , and any way to know from the application that we are on which server?
We also go and check from the Content Administrator in Web Dynpro Console. Under our project name, in the list of Components, sometimes we can see AttachmentComp but sometimes not.
Please help us as our project is about to go-live next week.
Thanks,
YuHi Meenge,

Regards ManuelHi Manuel,
that red flash is visible on a WebDynpro application in a WD specific view, right? I'm not a WebDynpro expert but I would assume that it indicates an issue with the application - probably the same thing that is reported by the central build.
Do you get the same error message in a local DC build in your NWDS?
(BTW: The "folder ... exists but is empty" is usually not relevant. The folders mentioned in the log may be empty as they are only used for special purposes. If they are defined in the DC Metadata CBS will create empty folders in the filesystem and the build plugin simply checks this. If the folders do exists in your local NWDS and contain files then there's something wrong, otherwise it should be safe to ignore the message.)
From your description I would assume that something is really wrong with your WebDynpro application, maybe you accidentally deleted the component? (Maybe the WD forum is better suited for such questions?)

Web Dynpro iView fail to execute on portal side
Hi Gurus
I have Created Web Dynpro Application in Backend ( ECC ).
If i tested them from SICF transaction or SE80 transaction they are working fine.
Now on Portal side, I hav created Web Dynpro iView for Those ICF Services (Web Dynpro Apllications).
But most of time they Fails to execute from Portal side.
Symptoms :
On Browser Status Bar It keep on refreshing that iView address.
and Nothing comes on O/P side.
What culde be the Problem ?
How To resolve !!
Thanks & Regards
PKThis regularly happens to us with new WDA applications - seems to be a "bug".
Deactivate the service in SICF and reactivate it, then try your iView again.
If that doesn't work, deactivate the whole WebDynpro node in SICF and reactivate it (including all relevant sub nodes & services).
Pretty sure that will fix it. -
Absolute URL IMAGE UI control in Web Dynpro ABAP fails
I would like to display a .jpg from the Internet, either using a URL or an RFC Destination as the source.
The "Web Dynpro ABAP Development in Detail" manual says that this can be done using only the Source attribute of the IMAGE UI control (see page 114) - that is,
create an RFC Destination G-HTTP entry for the URL,
type in that RFC Destination as $NAME$
append any further extension of the URL as "/path in lower letters"
I can enter an RFC Destination (ex., $UBERORBS$) which points directly to a single image file via its host/path and it is displayed in SE80's Layout Preview, but nothing displays at runtime.
If I try to extend an RFC Destination's path to point to that image file (ex., $UBERORBS_BASE$/uberorbs_44pence.jpg), the image is also displayed in the Layout Preview, but not at runtime.
Is this a bug? or something wrong with our implementation? We are at SAP_BASIS 700 level 0006.
(Also, if the Source entry is not exactly correct, SE80 aborts following the entry with STRING_OFFSET_NEGATIVE.)Here's another piece of information.
I am able to use the test app WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS to display at runtime the $UBERORBS$ RFC Destination-absolute URL image.
So, does this mean that there is a critical setting within my Web Dynpro component which must be set properly to permit this? -
Transport ESS MSS changes and new web dynpros
Hi ,
How do we transport the changes that we make to ESS/MSS web dynpro screens and how do we transport the new web dynpro applications that we develop?
Appreciate any suggestions.
regards
SamHi Sejoon,
Why do you want to copy the DC's to a custom SC. It gives you a lot of problems with references in the WebDynpro's and in the backend customizing.
The ESS/MSS applications are in a separate business package which you don't need to upgrade whenever you apply a patch to your portal, so there is no administrative effort.
Also, if you copy the DC's to a custom SC, and you do want to upgrade the package, then you still have to copy the DC again, and redo all your changes.
Anyway, SAP's recommended approach is described in the NWDI cookbook; it says not to copy the DC's, but change directly in the original.

Error when Creating Web Dynpro Model in CAF-Service
Hi All,
I reaaly need help. AFter updating to SPS 9, it was necessary to redeploy my Entity Service. That contains to "Create a Web Dynpro Model" in the Service Explorer,
to get an interface of the Service in my Web Dynpro Application.
Before I update to SPS 9, the Application works fine.
But now, when I want to "Create a Web Dynpro Model" in the NWDS I get the following Error-Message (its not a useful Error-Message):
<i>Error cannot create Web Dynpro Model:
Creation of Web Dynpro model failed. Reason: null </i>
Thanks for helping me
SteveHi Aliaksei,
the problem in the thread is the same I got.
When I use only 7 letters for the operation name, the creation work. When I use more then 7 letters the creation doesnt work.
But its hard to find a methodname with only 7 letters.
In SPS 8 I didnt have problems with the length of method names. Why is it so?

ERP2004: ESS JCO session handling in Web Dynpro apps?
Hello,
we run ESS/MSS Web Dynpro scenarios, running on WAS 6.40, SP12 in
Enterprise Portal EP6 SP2 Patch 32. Our go live will be with > 1000 ESS users.
1. When will the sessions in R/3 backend system be terminated by the
Web Dynpro Application?
How is the session handling in FPM (Floor Plan Manager) implemented?
2. Are there any recommendations regarding the JCO connection settings
in Web Dynpro Content Administrator (Maximum Pool Size, Maximum Connections,
Connection Timeout, Maximum Wait Time) to reduce / optimize the load for the
backend system? I found a documentation in SDN but it is not
specific for ESS / MSS based on Web Dynpro.
Background of questions above: The customer is worry about the load on
SAP R/3 backend side: too much current users in the R/3 backend system,
possibly bad performance etc. because the JCO sessions are open a long time.
Are there any experiences with customers running productive ESS / MSS scenarios
based on Web Dynpro?
Thanks & Best regards,
DanielHi,
1. For best practices on JCO settings follow the tutorial below and do it accordingly for your no of users. YOu might have to do some trial and error procedure.
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/3103eb90-0201-0010-71af-be6f4a6f61d1
2. For standards, security settings, cache management etc, SAP will give a TODO list after a remote audit of your project.

You must have logged in thru a dedicated connection to any server through say VPN before deploying. This way the sdm uses the same login as that of already establised connection.
So 'sign of' all connections to any servers before deploying and redeploy your application. Here you will be prompted to supply the sdm password and deployment shall proceed. -
ABAP Web Dynpro: Application Configuration vs Admin Personalization problem
Hi,
I created an application configuration for the application MT_ORDER_APP with a component configuration on RPLM_MT_ORDER_COMP. I changed several Labels and UI Element visibility... and saved.
When I test this application config for viewing an order of type ZX99, I don't see my changes. If I right-click on the page, I see that the configuration Id used is MT_ORDER_ZX99.
Why my Z config is overrided by this one???
By testing in Admin mode, I discovered that I can personalize this MT_ORDER_ZX99 Config.... But then, the changes are visible to all users viewing ZX99 type orders.
How to manage to make my Application Config highest in priority?Hi,
how did you open in administrative mode?
to open in adminstrative mode do as follows:
In se80 ,i.e in the menu bar:
Web Dynpro Application->Test->Test in Administation mode.
i hope u can see the option "Settings for surrent config" .
you can refer the thread.

How-to add a custom Web Dynpro iView to the MSS Employee Profile
Hello everybody,
i have created a small How-to guide of how to add a custom iView/Web Dynpro application to the standard MSS Employee Profile for ECC 6.0.
The How-to guide can be found <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/2007/04/15/How-toaddacustomWebDynproiViewtotheMSSEmployee+Profile">here</a>
I hope its of any value.
cheers,
MarkusHello Luca,
unfortunatelly it wont work. A WDA Application does not have access to the Floorplan Manager for XSS Applications. So until SAP develop an interface, you have to stick for such a task to WDJ.
regards,
Markus
