MSSQL APS to ORACLE ASP

Is there utility to convert MSSQL statements in my ASP files to ORACLE SQL?
And if so, will it handle the connection parameters as well?

Hi Mark,
You should look at the Application Migration Assistant
http://otn.oracle.com/tech/migration/ama
There you will find the tool ( a JDev extension) and multiple docs describing exactly what you want to do.

Ok, I see there are problems with save logs, but ok, I'm moving on to sqldeveloper - open table in migrated database, pressing "Data", and unfortunatly, there were no data. I tryed few times, checked permission for database user, but still the same.

  • Which LKM and IKM to use for Fast data loading b/w MSSQL 2005 and Oracle 11

    Hi,
Can anybody help us to decide which LKMs and IKMs are best for data loading between MSSQL and Oracle.
Staging Area is Oracle. We have to load around 400Million rows from MSSQL to Oracle 11g.
    Best regards,
    Muhammad

    Thanks Ayush,
You are right and it has dumped the file very quickly; but it is giving error on sqlldr call thorugh jython. I have reaised SR with oracle to look into it further.
thanks again and have a very nice time.

  • MSSQL migrated to Oracle

Just a warning up front but I am fairly new to Oracle so I might get some of the lingo wrong.
I had a 2008 MSSQL DB that I migrated to Oracle using the migration tool within Oracle SQL developer (version 3.2.20.09).  When I was done I had a DB but it was located within "Other Users" under a user "DBO_NIGHTLY6".  In order to connect to the migrated database I have to use the same SID, port, and hostname as I did to connect to the DB that contains the "Other Users" but I just use the dbo_nightly6 as both the username and password.  This gets me connected to the DB but what if I wanted to connect to the DB as another user?
I might not totally understand what happened in the migration.  When I pointed it at the DB to migrate to I didn't realize it would show up under the "Other Users".  Took me forever to find that and figure out how to get connected to it.  Is there a way to migrate it to the actual DB itself and not an "Other Users"?  Can someone maybe explain this process a little better to help me understand.  And yes I have read documentation on it I just don't think I am understanding what I have been reading.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Mike,
I don't think that this has been done before and scripts aren't available for this purpose.(Colleagues, correct me if wrong please)
There's a migration tool from MS for that purpose but it is not supported for ME as it hasn't been tested.
    http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/migration-oracle.aspx
A safe alternative if only objects are required could be to use data Xchange but this won't include reporting data.

  • Mssql data to oracle

    Hi All
Should the TG4MSQL be intalled in same oracle home as the oracle software or another home for db connectivity to MSSQL Server
    Oracle software location is d:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1
    thanks

TG4MSQL is release 10.2 - when installing this software into an Oracle 11.2 home you'll corrupt your existing home,
When you're going to install DG4MSQL 11.2.0.1 and you're Oracle database home has the same version and no patch is yet applied to the database home, then you can install it into the same Oracle_home directory. In the past i(up to 11.1) it was a little bit easier having the gateway in the same Oracle_home as the database, because when you applied the database patch set, the gateway was patched automatically.
Starting with 11.2 every patch set is also a full release which can be used to install from scratch which makes it easier to install into separate ORACLE_HOMEs and then allows you to apply a gateway patch only without the need to patch the database as well. Just imagine a new SQL Server release is currently being built by MS and this new version might require a gateway patch to be compliant with the new SQL Server release. Then, when having 2 OHs you can only patch the gateway without touching the database.

  • SQL Developer MSSQL 2012 to Oracle 11GR2 issues

I have an instance of SQL that I want to migrate over to Oracle 11G R2 as a POC.  I was playing with the SQL Developer tool and was able to connect to both of my instances.  However during the "Migrate to Oracle" function I am getting an error.  With the SQL Dev 3.2.2 I was using jdk1.6.0_45 and jtds-1.2.jar.  So I decided to install SQL Developer 4 to see if there's any other issues.  With SQL Dev 4, I was using jdk1.7.0_25 and jtds-1.3.1.jar, which also errored out.  Now the question is... how do I migrate?  On the Step 4 of 10, "Source Database", when I choose the SQL instance and click next I get the following error:

  • MSSQL 2005 to Oracle Database Conversion Issue

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement where we need to fetch data from MSSQL2005 and store it in Oracle DataBase.
Could you all please let me know which KM module i need to import to achieve it.
    Cheers,
    Andy

    Andy
There are a number of options. You should select based on the volume of data and platform, and flexibility of your architecture etc
    - At the simplest level, you could use the LKM SQL to Oracle, which will issue a SELECT on the source and do INSERTS on the target (using prepared statements etc, so not horrendous)
    - You could use the a bulk loading methodology - by using SQLUNLOAD (or bcp) and then load into Oracle using External Tables or SQLLOADER, which will probably be the fastest solution. (I created a KM which generates all the right code to load the data that way, but without a staging area, you can find it here
If you want a staging area table etc, then you could modify the code in that KM to be an LKM rather than an IKM.

  • A lot of problems with Oracle and ASP

Hi, i need to develop a system using ASP and Oracle. I should have started this about 3 weeks ago and I can't in any way connect these 2 technologies.
First, I tried through ODBC and it could not be done.
Next, I tried through OLEDB and when I thought that the problem was found...
    set objSessao = Server.CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XOraSession")
    set objConexao = OraSession.DbOpenDatabase("mozart", "jacto_revendas/bolinha",cint(0))
These 2 lines seems to be correct, then I had the error "access to object denied", and I read in some forum that it was because some DLLs of %oracle_home%\bin were without permission. I scanned all of them, and gave full access. OK. Then, an error ASP 0177 (error accessing DLL library) appeared and I could not find solution over the Internet.
And the incredible part is that the error only happens as soon as I start the OS... the second time I try, the script stops and does not show any errors or results... the page keeps processing without an end.
Please, I can't find anyone that can help me... you are my last hope...
    thanks
    Mozart

I agree with your suggestion about needing more documentation for APS.NET & Oracle connections. And so the next question is who knows where to find such docs? I've scoured the Oracle & MSDN sites, and have found nothing addressing these permission problems -- at least nothing that fixes the problem. See my recent postings about "access denied exceptions". I've been trying for several weeks to get it fixed, w/o success although I think I'm getting closer & just about to give the ASPNET user total control over EVERYTHING in the oracle home directory tree.

  • Syntax to query a MSSQL 2008R2 linked server from Oracle

    Hi,
I would know if it's possible to query a MSSQL 2008R2 linked server from Oracle. Actually I can query local MSSQL databases from Oracle using dg4odbc without problem but how can I query the linked servers configured on the MSSQL side ?
From MSSQL, I can query those linked servers using the [linked server name].[catalog].[owner].[table] syntax but using select * from [linked server name].[catalog].[owner].[table]@oracle_dblink_name syntax from the oracle side throw this error:
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
I tried some syntax variations, e.g. putting double quotes around the object name without luck. After some hours to find a solution I'm out of idea...
So please if someone had a clue on this it would be very helpfull.
    Some info:
    Oracle 10g 10.2.0.5 Enterprise Edition x64
Oracle Linux 5.9 Enterprise Edition x64
    MSSQL 2008R2 Enterprise x64
    Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise x64
Oracle 11gR2 Enterprise x64 for dg4odbc on MSSQL side
SQL Server Natice Client 10.0 used as ODBC driver

    Hi kgronau,
Maybe I'm not clear in my explanations, sorry.
I want, from Oracle, to query a MSSQL linked server.
Basically I want to do that, if possible:
Oracle --> MSSQL --> linked server --> MSSQL
        ^                                                         ^
        |                                                          |
        ---------------->------------------->--------------------
and maybe have a clue about the syntax to be used.
Knowing that querying the linked server directly form MSSQL is working and querying from Oracle to local MSSQL db is working too.
Using the right syntax should lead me to succes, am I right ? Or maybe its something that cannot be done using oracle dblinks ?
    Thanks

Reengineering Desktop Thick Workgroups into Web
    Rich Enterprise Clients
Bryan Hall, Spatial Architect, L-3 Communications
Jeff Walawender, Senior Software Engineer, L-3 Communications
Cost cutting requires reengineering spatial solutions to directly address business requirements. But enterprise computing for spatial data has, with even "Web 2.0", required the user to lose the responsiveness and feedback that traditional desktop thick client GIS software has provided. We took a different approach in the re-engineering effort and concentrated on making it work as much like a traditional desktop thick client - while simplifying use, making editing more reliable, and actually speeding up rendering. All this, while only supporting one versioned Oracle Spatial database, and application tier for all users.

  • "Copy To Oracle" failed if column sequence is different

    Hello,
I am trying to use the "Copy to Oracle" function to copy data from MSSQL 2008 to Oracle 11g. Since I already go the table created on Oracle and thus, I only need to migrate the data.
But I realize that, the copying failed, due to the column sequin between source and destination is different.
E.g. Table A on MSSQL has the column (id, phone, address) but the same table on Oracle is created in the order of (id, address, phone)
It seems to me that the data copying is done with column_id, instead of column_name.
What's your suggestion to get around with the issues? I would take re-creating the table as the last resort as there are like hundreds, if not thousands of tables I am talking about.
    Many thanks!
    ronnie

    Hi Ronnie,
It seems to me that the data copying is done with column_id, instead of column_name. Not exactly. The documentation says:
Note that if the two tables with the same name do not have the same column definitions and if Include Data is specified, the data may or may not be copied, depending on whether the source and destination column data types are compatible.
I have created a table in my SQL Server database of that kind:
    create table t1 (id integer, phone char(100), address char(100));
    And I inserted one record:
    id phone address
1 This is the phone number This is the address
In my Oracle database I created the table so:
    create table t1 (id integer, address char(100), phone char(100));
The I used COPY TABLE (with the option APPEND) and the result in Oracle is this:
    ID ADDRESS PHONE
1 This is the phone number This is the address
So the data are copied. Because the type of the fields ADDRESS and PHONE are identical. But the data are at the "wrong" place.
I dropped my table in SQL Server, recreated it and inserted 1 record:
    create table t1 (id integer, phone integer, address char(100));
    id phone address
    2 12345 This is the address no.2
I changed the table in Oracle accordingly:
    create table t1 (id integer, address char(100), phone integer);
I repeated the COPY with option APPEND. But nothing is copied. Because the data types do not fit.
I hope that makes the behavior clearer. Though, I have no idea how you can avoid the problem in any other way than recreating your table on Oracle side so that the columns fit together.
    Regards
    Wolfgang

  • Oracle returns ORA-03113 EOF error when using openquery in SQLServer 2005

    Hi
Our Application runs batch process on every moring . One of jobs is to get all rows from an oracle database and put all data into MS Sql Server Tables. Usally It works fine But Sometimes during getting data from a certain table oracle raise Ora-03113 error during
getting data from MSSQL Server. we use mssql openquery clause to get data from oracle We just use OPENQUERY to get all data of oracle view( i.e Select * FROM OPENQUERY(LINKEDORACLESERVER , "SELECT * FROM SCV0XE") )
This Error comes once a month. So I don't have any idea why this error happens. I am using MSSQL 2005 SP2 , Oracle 9i 9.2.01
And I tested both microsoft provider and oracle ole provider. Both Driver failed
Any Solution or Advice will be appreciated...
    Regards,
    Park

    Hi bborie :
I think I encounter same problem as you, I schedule a job of MS SSIS to do data transfer from Oracle to MS sqlserver every morning. Bt MS SQL server report "ORA-03113 : end-of-file on communication channel error ".
And Oracle alertlog report "inbound connection timed out (ORA-3136)"
    sqlnet.log list "TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out"
    does your problem solved ?

  • Sql Developer MSSql Migration, Online data move, image to long raw mapping

    Hello,
my task is to migrate a MSSql Server Database to Oracle 10.2.0.4 with SQL Developer Version 2.1.1.64
and JTDS JDBC Driver oracle.sqldeveloper.thirdparty.drivers.sqlserver 11.1.1.58.17.
Capture, convert and online data move works except data mapping from MSSql image to Oracle long raw dataype.
I need to map MsSql image to oracle blob, to achieve online data move!
is Sql Developer online migration MsSql image to oracle long raw possible?
I know that long raw is outdated, but i'm dba and not responsible for the software part.
What options should i try? offline data move? can MS Bulk Copy Program export image data and SQL*Loader import into long raw?
    Any experience or tipp?
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi user12132314 ,
I do not see any 'long raw' options on our current SQLServer 2005 data type mapping. (Raw is a separate 2000 byte data type).
The usual route for SQLDeveloper is to go to Blob.
Online - this is simple & automated.
Offline - this actually goes via hex output in bcp to sqlldr, read in as CLOB which is then encoded to blob. (This is automated)
(Online 'Copy to Oracle' option, right click on table, may be of use if advanced features not included in the select such as defaults are not required, it copies over a select * from table, including blobs)
To move you from blob to long raw after migration can be done (easily enough if Oracle database >=10g so the stream does not have to be in smaller 'chunks')

I can look into this if you want to go down this route.
Note however that long raw has drawbacks and blob is preferred, see
    Oracle® Database SQL Language Reference
    11g Release 2 (11.2)
    Part Number E17118-04
    Data Types
    LONG Data Type
    for example one restriction is:
A table can contain only one LONG column.
