MSVCR71.dll Error?

Am using CS 5.5 Production suite on Win 7 box and, all of a sudden, I get an error saying that I am missing the MSVCR71.dll file. This only happens when I open Encore. If I hit the OK button 7 or 8 times, Encore opens up just fine. This also happens sometimes when I try to open Premiere. Everything else seems to open up just fine. This just started happening and is very strange. Anyone else had to deal with this? If so, any solutions? Thanks!

I have read somewhere (don't remember where ???) that some quick time componenet called XiphQT might cause this error.
This componenet might come to your system because of some other application installation. Delete this component and then Encore would launch without any such message.
Hope this solves your problem.
Thanks,
Ramesh.

  • Missing MSVCR71.dll Error Message During Launch

I just wanted to pass along an error message that I have found the solution to and have passed onto Adobe through the bug submission process.
I have discovered a QuickTime Component that causes Adobe Encore CS5 to give an error message during launch.  The Error message states “The file MSVCR71.dll could not be found. Please reinstall Adobe Encore to resolve the problem” (Well, it is something really close to that.  I did not write down the error message before fixing the problem).  There is an “OK” button below the message to continue loading Adobe Encore.
The error message is only displayed if all other CS5 programs are closed.  During my findings, I discovered that if you open Adobe Encore CS5 through Premiere Pro CS5 or After Effects CS5 by using Dynamic Link, the error message will not be displayed.
The QuickTime Component that causes the error message is “XiphQT”, which is used to play Xiph formats in any QuickTime based application.  The Component can be located here: http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/
When installing the latest version of the program “Juicer” from digital juice, the QuickTime Component is installed.  Juicer will run without the Component, but gives a message that it is missing.  I have removed the Component since I use Encore to a much greater extent.
To remove the XiphQT Component from QuickTime, you must remove it manually because when QuickTime is uninstalled, the Component is left behind and will be a part of future installations of QuickTime.
While the error message displayed during the launch of Adobe Encore CS5 is not detrimental, it can be frustrating, so I hope this may help others that receive the error message from above.  I should also note that I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Greetings,
My solution was attributable to my firewall (Microsoft Defender) blocking TCP connections to QuckTime.  Here's the steps that resolved my problems on CS5, Windows 7, 64 bit:
    Control Panel
    Windows Firewall
    Advanced Settings
    Outbound Rules
    New Rule...
    Program/Next
This program path:  (use Windows Explorer to search)
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5\msvcr71.dll
    Allow the connection
    (Leave checks Domain, Private, Public)/Next
Name Description: (whatever you like - will display at top of Windows Firewall Advanced Security Outbound Rules)
    Good luck,  Michael

  • MSVCR71.dll error message

I am trying to run a Backup.1.exe file to restore documents after my hard drive failed.  I have copied the backup files from my external hard drive to a different HP computer.  Whenever I try to run the application Backup.1.exe, I get an error message that says "This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Any ideas on how I can fix this and get my files off the hard drive?

  • Encountered SQL Developer Error 'Can't Start because MSVCR71.dll is missing

    Hello,
Thanks for looking at this entry
I have an older version of SQL developer and it suddenly won't run with the following error
'Can't Start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program.........'
And it is indeed missing. So, rather than download what might be a virus from the internet (new version of MSVCR71.dll ), I tried to do a new install of SQL developer from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
I put it on my D drive, unzipped and tried to launch.
It asked where I had java.exe (full path name). I found it at C:\Windows\System32\java.exe
Now I encounter: Cannot find J2SE SDK installed at path C:\Windows\System32\java.exe
    Please help
    Regards
    Bill

    Hi,
    The 32-bit and 64-bit Java 7 JDKs include only msvcr100.dll, 32-bit Java 6 includes only msvcr71.dll, and 64-bit Java 6 has neither!
Also, keep in mind that Java 7 is not certified yet for ANY* version of SQL Developer. The standard recommendation is to install the latest update in the Java 6 JDK code line (currently 1.6.0_45) and use that. Make sure to get the 32-bit version!
    Regards,
    Gary

Corrected which Java downloads actually contain the msvcr71 and msvcr100 DLL versions. Sorry for messing it up the first time!

  • This application has failed to start because msvcr71.dll was not found

    Hi,
I just downloaded the Flex 3.3 DK from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flex3sdk
Once unzipped I went to run this:
    C:\DATA\My Documents\_jim\flash\open-source\_Software\flex_sdk_3\bin\mxmlc.exe
When I ran it, I got this error
This application has failed to start because msvcr71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem
I searched on Google, and found this:
    http://www.flashdevelop.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2932&start=15
So from there, downloaded "msvcr71.dll", placed here:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32
And ran the following in the Command prompt: regsvr32 "msvcr71.dll".
When I did that, I got this error message:
msvcr71.dll was loaded but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found
    The file was not registered
I saw that the DLL is related to Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime, so I deleted the dll I saved manually, and ran the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/thankyou.aspx?familyId=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2b c1bf&displayLang=en
Once done, the dll was not placed in the System32 folder.
I tried the manual install of the DLL again, but on trying to register it again, got the same error message.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Seems like I might have hit a brick wall.
    Thanks

What operating system? 32-bit or 64-bit?
Which version and edition of SQLDeveloper (with/without jre, 64/32-bit)
    What JDK version?

  • Sqldeveloper installation trouble shootings = can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer

I cannot install sqldeveloper due to the error received: can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer "can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer". I have Windows 7 and jre installed and first time I have have installed the same sqldeveloper, but after I have tried to installed data modeler, sqldeveloper run in error. I have deleted first sqldeveloper that successfully being installed and then when try to reinstall the installation failed with the reason: "can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer...". A new error occured after reinstallation: "Unable to launch the Java Virtual Machine located path...\..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll""Please tell me if you have a clue how to fix it and install both sqldeveloper and data modeler. Thank you for your time to reply to my question. Best regards!

I researched the advice on the link provided by b noir as well as very similar advice from apple support: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376. It worked for me (for now).
    Some things of note:
I did all of the things requested by the link I provided
My computer WOULD NOT uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. I had to manually remove the folder (also as instructed by the url)
I also uninstalled MobileMe. Was a little different than removing the other apps. Follow instructs provided here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2992
    I did not uninstall iCloud
I have to admit it was a bit scary removing all those things. Is important to note that when re-installing Apple, follow steps to do so as Administrator (the right-click thingy and whatnot).
    Hope this helps!

  • Sqlplus.exe fails to launch under Windows XP ([...] MSVCR71.dll [...])

    Hi,
when I try launching sqlplus.exe under Windows XP, I get the error, in French
"Cette application n'a pas pu démarrer car MSVCR71.dll est introuvable. La réinstallation de cette application peut corriger ce problème."
    which is approximately translated to
"This application couldn't start since MSVCR71.dll can't be found. Reinstalling this application could fix this problem."
I don't suppose reinstalling would help since I just unzipped Basic Lite and SQL*Plus, then set PATH.
I'm getting this after failing to connect to my server on Debian. My Windows administration talents are fading. What could cause and fix this problem?

    from metalink note 338900.1
1 - Download .NET from the Microsoft Website as this will include this run-time library.
This should install the file under the Windows\System32 directory automatically.
    OR
2 - Search for available sites to Download the MSVCR71.DLL file.
This can be placed within the Windows\System32 directory or any other location but the location
must be found listed within the PATH environment variable. Keep in mind, downloading this file from a site other than Microsoft's may have some adverse affect to your machine as the actual source of the file may be unknown.

  • Encore and AE crash on open..msvcr71.dll

I am recieving this same message upon startup for each of these programs (The program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem,) and then the program will shut down! I have tried an uninstall reinstall with no luck and I have downloaded all updates available for all products in Production Premium. I am running a PC with 64 Bit Windows 7, I have googled this error message and found quite a few websites with "fixes / repairs" but am unsure as to what to trust and what not. "I am a video editor...not extreemly great with the tech aspect of these things". Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

msvcr71.dll is a driver kept in most applications.
As a first look I'd check if you have it in your windows folder (SYSWOW64 for 64bit O.S).
Then, it must be in almost every Adobe Applications, THIRD PART PLUGINS INCLUDED, as well as in not adobe ones.
If re-installation of your suite (or simply applications) has not worked, then, trouble is in another application and/or plugin.
Everything must be installed and run as admin.
If this isn't your best day should be also a windows trouble.
Many website suggest a copy-paste work-around: personally I'm bit afraid of it.
    Hope this will help
    Ciao

Do you have any ideas regarding if Oracle has already provided fix for this issue ? I am not sure..., I have been trying installing patches as well. Following are the Oracle versions tried so far 10.2.0.1, 10.2.0.2, 10.2.0.3 (P3 Patch). This highly intermittent issue is reproduced on these.
    Please advise.

  • Missing dll file, MSVCR71.dll

I cannot get my Photoshop Starter Edition to open.  I've been using this program for years and a couple weeks ago I received an error report stating, " The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.2\Apps\MSVCR71.dll is not a valid Windows image."  I can't open any of the program files.  Its telling me to check my installation diskette, which I can't find.  I use this program all the time for all my photos and I'm lost without it.  Can anyone give me some advise as to how I can fix this program.  I don't want to re-install it as I'm afraid of losing all my photos etc..  If anyone has some advise for me I would really appreciate it.  Thank you.

Thanks, John. I found the missing file on the web by following your link and put it back where it belonged. Program boots up just fine, now. The computer still bothers me about the drive door being open, but that is more an irritation (as I simply close the dialog box) than anything else...

  • Msvcr71.dll locked

If you receive an error during an upgrade (in my case was 10.1 to 10204 that msvcr71.dll is in use by another user, i found that the "distributed transaction coordinator" and "distributed filesystem" services were spawning a process which would lock this file. Simply stopping these services. You may also need process explorer from sysinternals to kill the running process if it doesn't stop.

    Vasu,
You may want to get updated versions of the DLL. See OSS note 684106 for details.
You'll update the DLLs and have to restart the server. Also, watch carefully, because the program updates only the DLLs in System\32, but these DLLs exist in the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322 folder as well.
    Hope this  helps.

  • Guide to overcome hal.dll error - disk error & other errors.

Okay to start off with - guide for installing bootcamp.
    DISCLAIMER:
I take no responsibility at all - whatsoever for any damage the following steps cause to anything. If you follow this guide and then are annoyed at me in any way - don't be - you followed these steps knowing they could be dangerous to your hard drive / computer / sanity / etc. That said - good luck & these steps should work for everyone.
requirements: XP SP2 CD & a copy of parallels would be useful. Also a non-apple usb keyboard for step 1 if the apple one doesn't work during xp bootup.
    1. First try the usual bootcamp assistant method. Insert the xp disk, in the setup make sure you format the drive to NTFS (not quick). If you don't get this option - skip to step 3.
    2. Reboot and hopefully everything will go without a hitch. If it doesn't and you get a hal.dll error or any other kind of error go on to the next step.
    3. Boot up mac os x. Install parallels desktop.
    4. Insert your windows xp sp2 cd.
    5. Create a new virtual machine using a virtual hard drive saved in your documents folder somewhere.
    6. Configure it so that the bootcamp drive is added as an extra secondary drive in the virtual machine. (Little plus button down at the bottom).
    7. Install XP onto the virtual machine - don't activate or anything, just get to the desktop stage as fast as possible.
    8. Parallels will have already asked for your password to dismount the boot camp drive.
    9. Double click my computer in the virtual machine, then hold down ctrl+shift and click on the BOOTCAMP partition in the my computer window.
    10. Click format.
    11. Select NTFS as file format, check enable compression - do not check quick format.
    12. Wait till its finished and then power down the virtual machine.
------- The following steps are taken from http://communities.vmware.com/thread/114529 and were written by MandarMS from the vmware forums. I have edited the guide a little - (you'll see where). Thanks and all credit to MandarMS.----
    13. (James: Close parallels)
    14. Quit all applications in Host Mac OS X
    15. Open Terminal utility from Macintosh HD : Applications : Utilities folder.
    16. Key-in the following command
    $ sudo fdisk /dev/rdisk0
    17. Preferably take the screenshot of the output or Note down the output (for restoring MBR).
    18. Key-in the following command
    $ sudo fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
    setpid 3
Choose 07 (as the partition type)
    write
    Y
    Restart your Mac System
(James: EDIT - BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE OUTPUT OF THE PROGRAM IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHAT TO TYPE IN WHERE - This confused me at first but really helped in the end - James)
For more details please check the example shown below:
$ sudo fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 (this will help to change the MBR)
$ fdisk: could not open MBR file /usr/standalone/i386/boot0: No such file or directory
    Enter 'help' for information
fdisk: 1> setpid 3 (Enter “setpid 3” press enter key)

    Writing MBR at offset 0.
$ fdisk: 1> exit (enter “exit”, press enter key)
    19. Restart your Mac System
    ------ Back to me again.
    20. Welcome back - your drives have just been fixed. Reboot again and insert the windows xp sp2 cd. Hold down option at startup and boot from the cd.
    21. Go through the setup again - this time don't do anything to the drives when it asks you to format.
    22. wait...
    23. It'll reboot......
    24. It'll install..... if it doesn't - skip to step 26
    25. Welcome to windows, install your drivers and reboot a couple more times. You're good.
    26. (it didn't work... you got the hal.dll error or something similar) Boot up mac os x again and launch parallels.
    27. Start up the virtual machine - open up BOOTCAMP in my computer.
    28. Click view - folder options
    29. View types > make sure you can see hidden files and folders, view system files and etc.
    30. Right click boot.ini and click properties
    31. Uncheck read-only.
    32. Click okay - open boot.ini in notepad.
    33. If you're on a mac with 2 partitions: 1 mac hd, 1 bootcamp, delete everything in the boot.ini file and copy and paste the following into it:
    \[boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS
    \[operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
Obviously change the name to suit. Save it and reboot - you should be good to go now.

Hi. Your bootcamp drive should be drive C. It shouldn't matter what drive letter it is really, you make the virtual machine disk as a virtual disk saved in your documents folder and hook it in to use your physical bootcamp drive.
Ensure you've typed in the correct command and correct password. Press enter after you type in the password. You won't see it as you type it in, and you may need to wait some time afterwards before you'll see the next prompt. Leave it 2 minutes.
Sorry I've been abroad.. hope you have it worked out by now anyway mate.

  • NI 5660 Driver DLL Errors when using Teststand 2010 and LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2010

This problem seems similar to the post "Resource not found error in executable on development machine." but I didn't want to repost under that thread because I only happened upon it by chance and none of my searches brought me there... so I made a more descriptive Subject.
I am working on a system that uses a PXI Chassis with a NI 5600 Downconverter and a NI 5620 high speed digitizer, among other PXI Cards.
I inherited working code written in LabVIEW 2010, running with the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2010.  The code was using a custom executive and my task was to rewrite the test using TestStand 2010.  I reused the majority of the old code.  The old code used NI-5660 to control the 5600 and 5620.  When I run my sequence using the LV Development System and TestStand, it runs without any issues.  When I change the adapter over to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2010, all of my NI5660 VIs become broken due to DLL issues.  It warns that the nipxi5600u.dll was not initialized correctly.  Many of the errors are associated with the NI Tuner and NI Scope. After this LabVIEW will crash randomly, and the seqeunce will not work in TestStand even when back with the LV Development Adapter.  The only way to recover after this is to restart the computer - TestStand automatically reverts back to the development system, the VIs are no longer broken and the sequence works again.
I have all of my VIs associated with a project. After reading a little bit about DLLs and TestStand, I found all of the DLLs in the dependencies section of my project and added them to my TestStand workspace.  I also used Dependency Walker to track down the problems with the nipxi5600u.dll, the 2 DLL files that it said were not found already existed in the same folder as the original DLL (C:\Windows\System32).  I have also performed a Mass Compile to make sure everything was running in LV 2010.  If I skip the steps involving the 5660, my entire sequence runs fine.
The previous code was running with the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine without any issues.  Is there just a step I am missing?  Has anyone seen anything like this before?  I can send screenshots of errors to provide more detail if necessary.

I have tried some more things and still can't get it to work.  I have added the VIs mentioned in the Notes On Creating Modulation Executables KB both to the TestStand workspace and the LabVIEW project holding all of my VIs.  This did not change the results.
When I try to run my sequence, The first error I get is shown in Error 1445.bmp.  This happens when I try to use the NI 5660 initialize.vi.  If I click ignore, the next error I see is shown in Error -20551.bmp.  When I try to open the VI to look at it, I get the 2 DLL errors shown in Error loading nipxi5600u.bmp and Error loading nidaq32.bmp.  When I close TestStand, I get the error LabVIEW Fatal Error.bmp.

Hello< I have windows 7, I tried to install the new itunes version, last night 1/30/14, Im getting msvcr80.dll error 7 (windows error  126). Does anyone have a remedy for this? When I try to uninstall the ituned program it says it can't be found and to make sure I have permission to uninstall.

Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. I did the following:
    1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replaced)
    2) Restarted computer and still got error message
    3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
    4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not recomment in their posted solutions but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
    5) Restarted computer.
    6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try.

and TS we have been seeing SpaSoft randomly crash with KERNELBASE.dll errors and also a lot of c0000005 and c0000006 errors. Springer Miller support says its a Microsoft Networking issue so no help there. The company we worked with to install this has no clue
so I hope to reach out to this community to solve this. I can also open support case with Microsoft Support but I am not sure if they will be of any help. Here are some examples of the errors:

There are no network specific errors in any of the logs. I am thinking that SpaSoft needs to be run as an administrator but I am not sure how to do that in this environment. We have disabled DEP for all but essential Windows processes. All of the firewall
and AV has been completely disabled, and still getting these errors. Is there a way to run these applications as admin without the user actually being an admin? Should I go ahead and open a Microsoft support case? Thanks

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
