MTS to MTO

Hi all
we have MTS system and unfortunatley, we need to pass to MTO (we need to track purchase request for stock materials, and in MTS MRP put together al kinds of requirements for stock materials). Is it possible?
thanks
Gabriele

Dear ,
If you have MTS , then your FG stock will be  in unrestricted  stock and can be solled out  as TAN ietm through Sales Order .
But if you change over to MTO , then those stock will be Special stock (E) and will refernce to a Sales Order  .
Now , you can very well change over to MTO process by choosing Planning Stagey 20 , Indiviaudl Collective Indicator -1 but you need to think what you are going to do with existing Orders whiuch have been under process in MTS based on the Production Order status  .
Change over to MTS to MTO needs botH SD and PP intregeration like Requirement Type (OVZG) , Requirement Class , Item Categoery(OVZI)  and Planning Starggey Group( SPRO-MRP-PIR-Define Planning Stattegy group) .Make sure that you have all the set up  .
Hope this helps

  • Is there any constrain in using the same order type for MTS and MTO

    Hi,
i have the constrain to use single production order type .
Can i use single order type for MTO and MTS.
is there any constrain in using the same order type for MTS and MTO.
    pls help me.

    Hi,
There is no constraint or limitation in using the same production order type for MTS and MTO . Settings in requirement class and material master will mainly control whether the flow is MTS or MTO.

  • Re: MTS to MTO+MTS

    Dear Expert,
we are currenlty using MTS scenario & now plannig for MTO + MTS scenario. For fert level we will do MTO & Semifinish, raw material level will do MTS scenario.
can any one tell how to map this scenario/any configuration changes ?
which plannig strategies are need to be used in material master?
i have tested with Planning stratgies 20 but it is not generating accounting document, so please help me.
    Regards,
    Ishwar J

    Dear Ishwar,
1.First check whether planning strategy 50 will be suitable your business requirement, here PIR's will be entered at FERT
material level and all the planned orders for the dependent requirements can be converted and produced and kept in stock ,but
for the final product alone only after recieving a sales order its planned order can be converted into production order.
The system generates a planned order which is convertable.
2.In this case if this not suitable check with planning strategy 40.
3.If this is not suitable means create a strategy group by combining one make to stock and one make to order planning strategy
    and check the output.

  • Mts or mto

how do i check whether a material is a make to stock or a make to order material.
and how do i run mrp if i am doing  my sales order through a production order using co07.
Edited by: deepu p on Sep 16, 2008 2:24 AM

    Hi,
In material master in MRP3 view mainatin the MTO Strategy group like 20,50 etc.
The planning strategy for  MTS are as 10, 11, 40.Etc
By this way (MRP-3 view strategy group) you can find out the material is MTO or MTS.
IMRP group in material master also have the planing strategy please check in OPPR.
Normally we run MRP in MD50 for MTO or create production order with CO08.
    In MTS we run MD01,02,03..Etc.

  • MRP query related to MTO and MTS

    Dear Gurus,
    I have got 2 Plants.......Plant A(Manufacturing Plant) and Plant B (Selling Plant)
My scenario is Make to Order, where the sales order is getting created in Plant B(selling Plant) for Export Material
1)when I run the MRP for Export material by MD50 ......Planned order should be created in Plant A and it should show in MD04 screen then only I can convert that planned order into production order.
    2) After confirmation of that order and after GR.....stock should go to Plant B so that SD person will deliver that stock to the respected customer.
3)when I run the MRP by MD50, in the material BOM.....if any shortage of RAW MATERIAL OR PACKING MATERIAL then collective PR should be created in Plant B(selling plant).
what setting we should maintain in Meterial master related to PP for all raw/packing/semifinish/finish materials in both the plants related to MTS and MTO?
Could you provide me solution for the above queries.
    Max

    Dear
This can be achieved by using special procurement type (80 production in another plant) in all production master data (material master for inhouse production, BOM, Routing and production version) will be made in plant B and in plant A same material will have material master for MRP i.e. MRP group, MRP type MRP controller Procurement type special procurement (80) in MRP2 production storage location, planning strategy etc.
you can see in MD04 for plant B delivery plant will be A. and in MD04 for plant A planning plant B.
production order will be confirmed in plant A and GR will be done in Plant B.
and purchase requisitions for component will be raised from plant A. if all components are required to be procured in plant B, all component will have also special procurement either 40     Stock transfer (proc.from alter.plant)
or 70     Withdrawal from alternative plant.
I hope this will solve your issue. Kindly let me know if your issue will solved or not.
    Thanks

  • MRP Run for MTS & MTO..........................

    Dear Friends,
Please explain me the following question.
If a customer needs some 100 pieces of product, but we dont have the inventory to produce that.
So we need to run the MRP.
Here what is the output of the MRP in MTS and MTO.
    Thanks very much.

    Hi Arun
Your Customer wants 100 quantity of material but you dont have in stock so you are gonna run MRP, below are the results.
    a) MTS Scenario - 100quantity of Planned Independent requirement to be created, run MRP MD02 for that material and you get planning orders, now convert the planned orders into Production order and for components do Goods issue to the production order and the operations do confirmations, then do Goods receipt and take the material into stock, now you can issue the material from stock to the sales order and your requirement is fullfilled.
    b) MTO Scenario - 100quantity of Sales order is created and run MRP using MD02 or MD50, you get the planned orders then convert the planned orders to Production order and do Goods issue of components to the Production order and confirmation of operations, now you do GR to sales order and the material is put in sales order stock, this stock can only be issued to that particular sales order you have planned.
    Hope the above clarifies...

  • Mix Planning (MTO + MTS)

    Hi...
I have Stock of One raw material (Trading Material) of Quantity 10.
Now i created Sales order for Quantity of 50 qty...Now my requirement is that after MRP run, system should consider the the available stock (10 nos.) also after generating requirement PR of qnty 40 should have reference of Sales Order,Customer Specific PR.
How to map this , which strategy i have to use for this material, as it mix of Make to Order & Make To Stock kind of Scenario.
    Expecting Positive reply Soon

I'm afraid you are waiting for positive reply for vain.
As per my best knowledge there's no mix MTS / MTO scenario in SAP. Whether you use MTO or MTS but you cannot mix them.
You can maintain two planning strategies for your planning strategy group (that is assigned to your material in MRP3 view of material master) and use one of them in the SOs according to your wish...
SPRO > Production > Production Planning > Demand Management > PIR > Plannng Strategy > Define Strategy Group (V_T461P) - you can give a main startegy and some alternatives for the same strategy group...
...but even though you define one MTO and one MTS strategy for your strategy group MRP will consider MTO SO as MTO SO and MTS PIRs as MTS PIRs. I mean you cannot consider normal (not-assigned stock) for MTO SOs (for which MRP plans in the SO special stock segment). And you cannot create PR with SO reference by MRP for MTS requirements.
Strategy 40 is mix of MTS and MTO (you can consider SOs) but it also can't fulfill your requirements.
    Just my opinion...

  • DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ----MTO  & MTS PROCESS

    HI,
CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MTS AND MTO.I WANT TO CONFIGURE MRP RELATED CUSTOMIZATION.BASICALLY I AM AN MM CONSULTANT.SO KINDLY GIVE YOUR SUGGESTIONS.
    FLEMMINGS

    Hi,
In make to order process, u plan ur production on the basis of the orders u get. So, its like if u get some 10 orders, u'll plan ur production in a way that u can fulfill those 10 orders.
While in make to stock, u produce to stock ur materials, its like u plan ur production on the basis of ur production capacity and after production u stock that material. Now when the orders come u service them from the materials which u have already produced and is stocked....

  • MRP in Background for MTOs

    Hi All,
I have two types of strategy groups MTO and MTS. But i need the background JOB for MTOs only. I have done the settings in MDBT (Variant) and SM36 (Setting up of Background Job). But the system is running the background job for MTS and MTO also.
I only need the background job for MTOs only  not for MTS materials. As i have checked bu8t unable to find a link to set the background job only for MTOs.
    How can I do this?
Please advice me for the same.

    Suresh,
You can activate user exit for MRP run. Once the user exit is activated you need to define the user exit key in SPRO as what that key is(In this case Planning strategy), and in the user exit you can ask the ABAP person to select materials based on the user exit key which should be MARC-(strategy group-field name).
Now you can create a variant with user exit key and value "20"- for MTO. with this the MRP would be run for only materials which have planning strategy 20.

    Hi Neeraj,
According to SAP online help the following options are possible via user exit M61X0001:
    - only materials planned using MRP or
    - only materials for a particular MRP controller or
    - only materials procured externally or in-house

  • Sales order to consider for MTO scenario

    Hi PP experts
How to ensure the consideration of sales order requirements for MTS or MTO.
Is it possible to distinguish by order types.
I request please indicate the config requirements for this.
    warm regards
    sairam akundi

    Sairam,
I am not sure as to what excatly you are looking for.
However please note the following with respect to sales order requirements for MTO and MTS:
For MTO: The requirements type in the procurement tab of the sales order should be KE or any other requirements type that supports procurement from sales requirements. To be able to enter the KE requirements type in the sales order the material master should have Planning strategy group which suppotrs MTO  Example: 20 which is specified in the MRP3 view.
For MTS: The requirements type in the procurement tab would be KSL or any other which supports make to order. The Planning strategy group for this in material master should be 10.
The configurations for this include the
    1) configuration of the Planning strategy group which contains a list of planning
    strategies allowed.
    2) configuration of individual strategies which combine the requirements types from Production and Sales. The requirements class which is keyed in the requirements type determines excatly how the planning and procurement occurs.
The above configurations are pre-defined in standard SAP. You could change them if you require to.
    Check the configs under:
SPRO>SD>Basic functions>Av check and transfer of requirements.
With the above basic settings, in case of MTO sales order would drive the production. In case of MTS production is carried based on forecast values (Planned independent requiremts irrespective of sales order requirements). The warehouse stock is then allocated to the sales order at the time of delievry.
For more help check the SAP online help on Planning strategies.
    Hope above is useful.

  • Display Several Sales Orders from Same Business Customer TOGETHER   in MD04

    Hello
In MD04 is it possible to display several sales orders from same business customer together?
For instance one business customer order bikes for two times.
    The Order-No are 12912(50st by 07/08/09) and 12913(100st by 10/08/09).
Normally after runnning of MRP(MD02), the planned orders are displayed seperately in MD04.
I want to display  two orders together.
The reason is if some trouble happens in Production(for Ord-no 12912) and it cannot be deliveried on schedule, however Production  (for Ord-no 12913) is going without trouble, the final-products for order 12913 should move for 12912.
If you have some good solutions, please share it.
    Thank you for your advice.
    Regards,

    Hi Riyolshibashi,
Lets look at the two main scenarios, MTS and MTO.
In MTS, the general display filters are available in MD04.  Standard SAP filters do not filter on 'customer'.  I suspect this is because the concept would normally be illogical in a MTS environment.  Planned orders do not exist to serve a customer, but to serve 'stock'.  But let us not think about SAP and their logic.
SAP allows you to create customized filters, in IMG>Production>MRP>Evaluation>Filter>Define Display filter.  Within this definition, under the  "Addnl Selections' tab, you can tick 'Define addl selections in the transaction'.  When you use this filter in MD04 display, then, one of the options available to you is to enter a specific Customer number, and then the display will only show the requirements from this customer.  Since you have excluded all other customer's orders, all orders of a single customer will be displayed consecutively.  Next to each other.
In the case of MTO, the 'filter-by-customer' concept makes more sense (although, not for the reason you have stated.  You would have to find some manual method to convert a production order from supporting one sales order item, to supporting another sales order item.  Possible but difficult).  Anyway, the above mentioned customized filter would also work in an MTO environment.

  • SD- Sales Order - ATP check not working for few item in same sales order

    Hi Experts,
Need help we activated ATP check but for few item i could not find confirmation qty after availability check. In same SO out of 4 items for schedule line it confirming qty for 2 item but  it's not confirming for remaining 2 items though stock is available. Please guide me how to correst and what need to check.
    Manoj

    Dear Manoj,
As you know, ATP is a big subject & some times its difficult to point the exact problem.
In your case, I suggest you to execute the function module:BAPI_MATERIAL_AVAILABILITY using Tx:SE37
key in selection criteria , in results check the "ATPQTY"- it will show you how much actual stock is available for use i.e. ATP qtty.
still if you find the availability & system not confirming the qtty, then problem could be in checking rule
Tx:OVZ9 check in relevant combination, whether you are considering RLT or not?
is this case with MTS or MTO
    because in Sales order -
for MTS - checking rule "A" & MTO checking rule will be "AE"

  • Auto populate  variant characterstics values in sales order

    Hi Sapients,
we are trying to configure variant configuration at sales order level. We have created several characterstic and assigned it to class. Now some of the characterstics will be fixed at material level and some of the characterstics are dependent on the values supplied by the user in sales order. we have created characterstics like grade, profile, size, length, tdc number , tdc date, tdc customer, hardness, composition etc and assigned it to class salesspec ( class type 300 ).The characterstics like profile, grade, size, length are entered in the material master itself.
TDC related details like tdc no, tdc date, tdc customer, hardness, composition will be entered through a ZPROGRAM and the details will be stored in ZTABLE (ZTDC) where TDC number wll be the primary key and the respective details will be stored here. Now when we create sales order, after entering the material and clicking on variant configuration, the configuration screen comes up where the user will enter the appropriate TDC number . based on the TDC no entered by the users , the other dependent values like TDC date, tdc customer, hardness, chemical composition needs to be automatically populated in the sales order variant configuration screen .
Please guide me how to resolve this issue. shall i create dependency based on TDC no. In dependecy what is the code i have to write . Please elaborate in detail as i dont have idea on dependency.
Is it possible through user exit.
    Thanks

Starting right is the first significant step. Looking at the answers to my questions, I think your industry certainly needs VC as also righty figured out by you. VC is a long way to go, and in my opinion you will need good experts handle this situation. In VC you will discover thatt there are 10 different ways to achieve the same outcome, but what matters is which solution you choose. This will depend upon a oot of factors during producg modelling, cutting the classification system, bulding configuration profiles, etc.
    To give you a guideline:
    1. You have 2 situtations MTO and MTS. MTO is 100% configurable material and MTS is where your KMAT will be replaced by an SKU (stock-kept-unit). For this you should emply variant type matching functionality. It's explained in SAP LO-VC help. Let me know if you do not have it.
    2. For MTO you build classification system thoroughly to classifiy your products accordingly. This also involves creation of cstics. Ensure that you don't want to create cstics you will need to abondon in future.
    3. To answer your question in the post: Steps involved in VC are:
    a. create cstics, assign them to relevant class (type 300)
    b. assign class to material CL20N or in configuration profile.
    c. create configuration profile for material CU41 and write your object dependency (OB type = procedure)
    d. In your OD (procedure) employ a table, say ZTDC. This is not ABAP table but a variant table created via CU61 and values maintained in CU60
    e. your code in OD may look like this:
    TABLE ZTDC
    (TDC_NO = TDC_NO,
    TDC_DAT = $SELF.TDC_DAT,
    TDC_CUST = $SELF.TDC_CUST,
    TDC_HRD = $SELF.TDC_HRD)
Here, TDC_NO is the key field you should define while table creation and when this is keyed in by users the other elements get determined autmoatically as per the varaint table.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you face any issues. Thank you.

  • Process order type conflict

    Hi,
I am trying to create a process order from a planned order. I have generated the planned order through MRP run. The process order that is generating taking process order type which is not desired. I want to know from where it takes the process order type while creating process order from a planned order. i have given the desired process order type in production scheduling profile i.e. TS03. but it is taking PI01. i want the type as TS03
    the screen shot given below.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi Swastik,
Check to which planning strategy (MTS or MTO) you assigned the order type in the prod. scheduler profile. Make sure you use the same in the material master MRP 3 view.
Also check whether you have assigned the prod. scheduler profile in the material master work scheduling view.
