Much in need of Audition v3.1

It's been a very long time ago for me, hanging around here.
I'm a long term Cool Edit Pro user. Until a few days ago, I was still using Audition 1.5 (actually Cool Edit Pro 1.2a). A reliable, very stable program. Well, we all have to move on, don't we, and version 3.0 looked very nice, so three days ago I took the plunge.
Unfortunately, I regret to say, Audition is no longer a professional audio tool, it simply is way too unstable.
In just a few days, I encountered several irritating bugs.
1. When the wave files and the program are closed properly, when I reopen Audition, it tells me "a previous session ended prematurely," while this was not the case. This happened several times.
2. I tried to fill the favorites menu with a couple of effects I often use. This is simply impossible: the favorites won't stick, no matter how hard you try. Everything above the number of three is vanished when I reopen the program.
3. For no apparent reason, Audition tells me, when I start the program, that the wave cache is set too high, and as a consequence the program won't start. Ofcourse, the wave cache is nót set too high.
4. There are problems with the Asio implementation. Sometimes, Audition behaves as if the option "release ASIO driver in background" is ticked, and stops playing when another window gets in the foreground. The option, ofcourse, is nót selected, and I have to restart my PC to get things back to normal again.
This is all very annoying, and not worthy of a program with a pedigree like this. Hello Adobe, we have to earn our daily bread with this program. Please fix the bugs as soon as possible in an update. Audition still has the potention of being a first class program, the one and only swiss army knife in professional audio editing and mastering, with a very intuitive user interface.

Hi All
Is there a set system tweak for getting the most out of AA3? I also use SawStudio and Bob, the developer has a sort of checklist of tweaks for getting the most performance. When I did that my system and his software ran perfectly. A 10 hour session with no hang-ups or glitches was no uncommon. I just bought AA3 the other day and am having some of the same issues. I was thinking the problems were related to vista. Maybe, maybe not but one instance that I didn't understand was using the channel eq. Playback was happening and I was doing an eq adjustment and when I X'd out the eq window AA3 totally shutdown, gone,closed. I have had the same "previous session detected" window as Prestant, come up on load. When I initially installed AA3 I used it for about 30 mins closed it and when I re opened it the windows were all blank... no mixer, no edit only the CD window. I didn't know if this was a graphic card problem or what but I did a reinstall and it worked although a tad glitchy with the redraws when switching windows. For a test I installed AA3 on my tower with XP sp2 and had some of the same issues. Anyone have any tweak ideas.
Thanks

  • How much RAM needed for the DB box

    Hi,
    Can someone share with me the technical way to do calculation of how much of RAM needed for a new Linux box with estimation of 500 users. I hope this calculation can also allow me to breakdown how much MEMORY needed for each session.
    Please recommend any site that I can refer to if any. TQ.

    My project start with Oracle 9i R2 (9206) on Linux (not yet confirm on the platform and etc). Just assume I will use Linux Red Hat Adv Sever latest version.
    Hence how many GB of memory for the box is sufficient to handle 500 connections. Pls guide me the formula to derive the calculation. TQ

  • HT4623 I lost my apps and iTunes after a restore, but it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone 4. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos, but I'm still getting the same message.

    I did an iphone 4 software update. It then asked me to do a "restore" in order for me to be able to use the latest iTunes. I did a "restore" to "factory settings" (this was the only option listed) thinking I'd be able to sync later and get everything back and ended up losing all my purchased apps and iTunes. When I open iTunes, "Welcome to your new iphone" and it says I can re-do the "restore" and choose my lastest update. I assume this will give me back my apps and iTunes. When i choose to do this, it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos from the phone, but I'm still getting the same message every time I re-try. I don't want to delete everything, but I don't know what to do...? Thanks!

    Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

    Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work!   First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
    Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 15 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
      If that didn't work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try.
    If that still didn't get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
    A bad internal PRAM battery can also cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good!   Also, here is Apple doc.#88338 on getting FireWire to work.
    Here's another Fw Faq.

    It isn't that risky. You may be reading hundreds of posts here about problems, but that is out of MILLIONS of iPhones that have been upgraded. Percentage-wise, that means most people have no problem.
    However, as with any major change to your system, you should back up everything your iPhone first. Just right-click it in iTunes to get the backup menu. That will be your safe fallback position in case something goes wrong.
    I still use an iPhone 3GS. That's older than your iPhone. But iOS 5 works fine on it.

  • If I get 256Gb SSD then much less need for Apple Care?

    Hi I am thinking of getting the 256Gb SSD instead of the 320Gb 7200rpm drive. If I do that do you still think I need to get Apple Care? I am an educator so Apple Care is $249. If there's much less need for Apple Care with SSD, then in effect taking the $249 and applying to the cost of a SSD, it brings down the price to $675 - $249 = $451!

    No, there is no less need for AppleCare with a SSD. If the SSD itself should fail, replacing it yourself after your 1-year warranty expires will cost more than the AppleCare plan. If any other part of the machine should fail, repairing that is almost certain to cost more than the AppleCare plan too. If you don't buy the SSD and your standard hard drive fails after your 1-year warranty expires, replacing it yourself costs far less than the AppleCare plan and is so simple to do that you'd be crazy to have a service provider do it for you.
    Whichever kind of drive you buy, choosing whether or not to buy AppleCare is a separate decision and shouldn't be influenced by your choice of drive.
    If I were strapped for funds and in your position, I'd spend the money on Applecare sooner and wait for SSD prices to come way down and speeds to go way up in a few months or a year. AppleCare is a good investment at any time, particularly if you can buy it at a deep discount. A solid state drive is not a good investment yet for anyone whose MBP won't spend its days jouncing across the veldt in a Land Rover, being buffeted at sea in a small yacht, or banging from pothole to pothole in an urban police cruiser or bike messenger bag.

    How much i need pay for ipad 2 screen ?

    Out of warranty replacement costs start at 249 and go up for an ipad 2.
    You can find replacements cheaper as non-authorized places, but once you use them Apple will wash their hands of your device so if it has any warranty left, that warranty will be void.

  • How much storage needed? or how do I find out?

    I've been using Macs for years but feel as though I don't really know them well.

    My questions are:
    1) how can you find out how much space you'll need for a backup?
    2) what is the easiest and/or fastest way to perform the backup?

    Click on Macintosh HD and press Cmd-I.
    Under 'used' it will tell you how much data is on the disk.
    This is the minimum space needed.

  • Combining clob taking too much time - need help

    Hello,
    I want to append clob values into another clob value like
    declare
    v_temp clob;
    v_c1_temp clob;
    cursor c1 as select clob_data from t;
    -- here t table contains clob_data column holding clob data

    begin
    v_temp := '';
    open c1 into v_c1_temp;
    loop
    v_temp := v_temp + v_c1_temp; --------- combining clob (concat may be used)
    end loop;
    close(c1);
    end;
    above part also repeats in outer loop (not shown here)
    my problem is :- it is taking too much time - you dont believe 90% more time due to that concatenation.
    is it any smart way to do same thing?
    It will be very helpful to me.

    Hi ,
    You should also always try and have the latest BI content patch installed but I don't think this is the problem. It seems that there
    are alot of objects to collect. Under 'grouping' you can select the option 'only necessary objects', please check if you can
    use this option to  install the objects that you need from content.

  • Reading/Writing the Microsoft XP/OSX Memory...MUCH HELP NEEDED!!!

    (This post might not be as lengthy or as indepth as it should be because I just closed the page thinking that when you click "formating help" that it would open a popup, not paying attention, I CLOSED THE WINDOW!)
    This should be a pretty straight forward question. I need a script written in either:
    A) JAVA
    B) JNI
    C) C/C++
    D) Visual Basic
    ... to be able to access the variable that coresponds the the value of a text box in internet explorer on a webpage, a text box in another application, like word, or anything along those lines.
    Or
    ...to be able to read the memory in Microsoft XP home edition (OSX if possable, too) out to a file. It then needs to be able to upload that memory from the same file it makes, but the file is altered, witout crashes, freezes, etc. This script also has to be called from a java script (not javascript). I know that this would be a BIG security issue but...
    AND NO THIS ISN'T FOR CREATING/MODIFYING A VIRUS.
    Thanks.

    I think the answers you got over [url http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=524137&forum=54]here were excellent. You should now know that Java is a terrible language for this kind of thing. You would be much better off with some kind of a native language like C++. Even then, you are going to have to get heavily into the internal Windows system to get what you want from another application and I can't even imagine what you would have to go through to get it out of IE.
    Anyway, I doubt you are going to find what you are looking for in the 'New To Java Technology' forum. You might be able to find something like this if you found a 'Hacker Forum' with people on it who had spent the time to find out how to steal information from other programs (probably at least a couple of years) and didn't mind if they got invovled with someone who might be talking to the FBI shortly.
    Your only other option would be to spend the year or two it would take you to learn enough to do it yourself.
    Good Luck.

  • How much money needed to replace the iphone ?

    Hello all,
    I have a iPhone 4s with greyed out problem. My phone had a water damage but it did not cause anything on the phone. However, 2 weeks ago my wifi just greyed out. I cannot use wifi anymore. What I am wondering is, how much money do I need to replace the phone ? I saw 150€ and 150$ to replace. I suppose Apple gives the "0" phone to customers after the payment but I want to be sure on the amount of the money ? Does anyone has an idea on that ?
    Thank you.

    We are all fellow users on here and not Apple employees so cannot speak for Apple or what they will do.  That said, I would be very surprised if a US Apple store would be willing to do any replacement for this iPhone as it is not a US version.  Your friend can certainly visit an Apple store genius bar and see what they will do, there is no harm is asking.
    A new one will still have the problems I noted above, no warranty outside the US, LTE service will be for the US frequencies, locked to a US carrier unless you pay the premium price for a factory unlocked iPhone, on the order of $600.

  • How much/what needed to hook up PB to a TV?

    Hi guys!
    What will I need and how much will it cost to hook my Powerbook up to my television?
    Thank you!
    Alec

    It depends on what kind of TV you have and what kind of ports are on the TV.
    If you have a new digital or HDTV, it could have a DVI port on the back. That directly works with the DVI port on your PowerBook 15-inch. If it has an HDMI port, you get a DVI-HDMI adapter. Either way gets you a full quality digital signal.
    If your TV is not quite so new, it might have a VGA port. You can connect to that using the DVI-VGA adapter that came with your PowerBook, assuming you didn't lose it. That is a high-quality analog signal.
    Scraping the bottom of the barrel: S-Video, already covered above, a direct link to your PowerBook's S-Video port. If you have a somewhat old TV, that only has one composite video port, you must use the S-Video to Composite adapter that also came with your PowerBook.
    So, you have four choices depending on how new your TV is. DVI and HDMI are the highest quality.
