Muffled Sound

I recently bought a new Mac Pro and am very happy with it, except for one thing: the sound. It's very muffled coming from the speakers on the machine. I don't normally use any outside speakers, and I can barely hear things when I listen to music or internet radio, Youtube, etc., even if it's turned up all the way. I have all the sound settings turned up to full volume.
Is there any way to make the sound louder on this machine?

I myself have noticed the same thing, pretty much all across the board. I go to turn up the sound on QT movies and find it's already at the maximum. And yes, I remember better sound coming from my older Macs. I think Apple just makes a lot more assumptions now that people will accessorize, and they do sell external speakers from their store so there's that.
If you have a stereo receiver near, you can always run a line from your Mac to that. My stereo has optical inputs (toslink) and I connect to my Mac via that. Sounds just great. Analog works well too, there are mini-jacks that will fit into your mac and on the other end jacks that will fit into almost all stereos.

Muffled sound on 5C

I use a 5C for work and have had continual problems / complaints over the last 10 months of my voice during calls sounding muffled. I have just this week exchanged the handset and have also done a software update to the latest iOS 8.1.2, but it is exactly the same.
I have also tried voice recordings but they sound crystal clear when played back. However, when I recorded my personal message for voice mail, it took 6/8 attempts to try and get a decent un-muffled sound. Its really off putting and difficult trying to conduct a business call with people constantly saying you very muffled / or it must be a bad line I can hardly hear you.
I know where the speaker is and hold the phone very carefully and have even tried using both ears left or right. Nothing works, Apple what is going on with your phones.

No sound/muffled sound, please h

For the most part I'm getting no sound. Once in awhile I hear a muffled sound coming from my speakers. The connections are all hooked up right. I have all latest sound and video card drivers. I can't figure out what is going on here.. has anyone else had this issue or anyone know what may be the problem? Is there a fix? Specs are below.

If you have on Board audio make sure its disabled and the proper audio mixer is selected.

Low muffled sound coming from the speakers on IPod Touch

How can I resolve the low muffled sound coming from speakers on IPod Touch 4th generation?
Reset of apps was done and full reset of the IPod was done.

This is not normal and there is no solution you can administer from home without voiding any warranty you may have... i suggest taking it to your nearest apple store and letting them know, they are very good when it comes to these small problems and will most likely give you another iPod while they fix/throw away your old one... Do a backup first though, so you can load your files back onto the new one.

My audio has a scratchy muffled sound sound when i watch vidoes. how do i get rid of that?

Your iPod is in recovery mode. You'll need to restore the iPod through iTunes on your computer.

Muffled sound from ipod classic

I have a classic that the sound is muffled whether connected through earphones (several tried) or through a dock or dedicated lead to my alpine head unit,I have tried updating everything through itunes a couple of times but it is still the same...music and vocals are not clear and it is very muffled. Help.

My classic 80 GB ipod that I bought 2 years ago now has no sound at all. Initially, it came and went and now no sound. I can see that the music is playing on the screen, but no sound comes out either on earphones or dock.
no warranty anymore and don't want to have to pay $160 to fix it. I restored the IPOD but still no sound. HELP!!!!

Help Needed. Muffled sound, not clear anymo

Hi, I am using a creative muVo TX FM for a few months and is very happy with my player. but this morning on my way to school, i switched on my player to be greeted by 'muffled' music. It applies to both my mp3s and radio. I can hear the music, but the lyrics are very muffled i cant hear a thing. The same goes for radio!
I've tried to reformat my player, upgrade to a newer driver but its still the same. Please help me!

I've had the exact same issues, to resolve it I've tried the following all with some sucess.
Repeatedly plug/unplug the headphones
Play and video/try and play
Play a song and leave it for a few mins until it just "works".
Change the ringtone
Leave the phone for 15mins then it just works!
I've also noticed that when it loses sound it also loses the Carrier i.e. "No Network".

Y50 clicking sound from left speaker and muffled sound

I just bought the Y50 yesterday with the GTX 960M. Unfortunatly i noticed while playing that the left speaker started to do a clicking noise, in addition the sound became muffled. When i tilt the laptop the problem is resolved i.e. the clicing stops and the sound returns to normal. After a few minutes the same problem returns until i tilt the laptop or lift it again.

Easy question/Have muffled sounding on the back rear speak

As the topic says...

I have an xfi card

Using headphones 5. and the back rear speakers sound muffled... I know the back speakers work because if I switch the front and rear wires around then they sound right


Any way to make the back speakers not sound muffled? Why are they even doing this in the first place?

hi, i have a similar issue. Yet, it exists in GAMING MODE. The rear channels and the Sub no not read audio at ALL. The front speakers work fine however.
When I switch to ENTERTAINMENT MODE, the speakers do not read at all. No audio whatsoever. I am quite dissapointed as my Audigy worked flawlessly. Actually, not flawlessly, never had a creative product do this. But it read all 5. Speakers.

IPhone 3GS Muffled sound issue

Hello.
Today my phone's sound was working fine for the whole day until I got home; my phone's speaker sound became muffled and very low, even though ringer volume is on the maximum setting. I've tried every suggested solution by other people, but none have worked. I've turned it on and off multiple times, and I've also tried leaving it off for an elongated time then turning it on a later time. I've confirmed that there is no dirt clogged in the speaker; besides, that would be quite unreasonable since it was working fine for the whole day and suddenly became muffled when I got home. The affected sound includes the lock, unlock, keyboard click, and music through the speaker. Will this eventually fix by itself? Does anyone have any other possible solutions?

Muffled Sound in iTunes

Hello!
Yesterday my iTunes sporadically started playing songs in a manner in which they sound muffled, and this problem has persisted ever since. However, any sound that comes from something other than iTunes is not muffled. I checked my EQ settings and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I am running the latest version of iTunes. Does anyone have an idea as to what the cause of this problem may be?

Look near the upper left in iTunes. Do you see a volume slider? Is it all the way to the right?

S750 muffled sound front/center channel.

Hi there,
Roughly 6 months ago I purchased a set of the Creative S750 speakers. Upon reading the various horror stories, precautions were taken to ensure longevity. The speakers have also never exceeded half volume.
It looks like this still hasn't put off the inevitable. Recently the front and center channels have become muffled, upon inspecting further I was taken to the conclusion it was most likely the sound card. However, after removing the X-FI and activating the onboard audio it seems the issue still remains. The front channels sound bassy with no tweeters.
Notably, headphones that are plugged into the control pod sound fine, which would point to the preamp and main amps being ok.
The speakers are only a few months old, and they have most certainly never been abused. What could be the issue that is causing the muffling of the front speakers?
Nevermind, I found out exactly what this is, I'll leave this post for anyone else that has encountered this issue.
On further inspection of the faulty speakers, it turns out that the crossover circuit inside the speakers is the issue. The circuit itself would seem to be damaged. This could mean two things:
-This is not actually a brand new set of speakers, and they were damaged by the previous owner.
-The build quality of the speakers by the manufacturer is exceptionally poor.
-Also I observed that the internal shielding underneath the woofer is missing in 3 of the speakers which also goes to prove that they are a recon set.
I would normally expect neither of the above to be true after spending 360 on a BRAND NEW set of computer speakers and getting a refurbished set instead.
I hope this post will help anyone else experiencing this problem.

Hi there, I've had no problems with my sound system for 4 years until today. I hope someone can help. I have Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer soundcard and S750 7.1 Giga Works. Years of great sound. Today I have no sound from my sub and muffled and low volume for the center front speaker.
All other speakers work perfectly. I switched the green an orange cables from the sound card and the sub with exactly the same results. I think this means the cables are okay. How do I tell if I got a defective sound card or sub? I suspect that either the amp or sub is defecti've but don't know for sure. If that is the case is it worth repairing or should I get another sound system? I can't seem to find the S750 for sale on Creative's website. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Muffled sound from rear speakers (t7700)

I hooked up new T7700 speaker set up to my new Audigy 2 ZS Gamer and when i watch movies or play games i hear nothing from my rear speakers. if i put my ear right by them then i hear that there is sound coming from them but very quietly.
side front and center work fine any ideas?

That would be normal for a 5.1 system, rear is very discrete.
Use the speaker test and you should hear the level increase. or use cmss to play cd music to back 2 speakers.
[edit] sorry didnt see the bit with side speakers.
Select 5.1 instead of 7.1
if you still want to use 7.1 then check the settings in the decoder bit and look at where you are mapping the speakers to. like in a 7.1 speaker configuration map 5.1 content to etc\
For 5.1 movies use the rear mapping, or the side mapping,
if you want all the speakers on then select the side and rear option then whatever sound you get from the speakers will be a bonus.

MUFFLED SOUND PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Hi,
I have put some movies onto itunes on Mac (os x) and can play them fine through itunes.
When i play it through apple tv the picture is there and some of the sound. The actors/actresses voices only come through very quietly and can't hear it.
I have tried everything i have read on these boards including restarting and changing settings! its driving me crazy!!

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
