Mulple accounts on one iPad.. Unresolvable country issue?

I keep having to switch iTunes stores (iTunes Canada / iTunes US) while installing apps. Some are tied to my US account, some to my newer Canada account. Is the a way to reset "country-of-origin" or integrate these different accounts?

It's not a bug. That's the way iTunes accounts work. Updates can only be obtained when logged in to the same account from which those particular apps were obtained. Updates are actually not updates and what you're doing is downloading newer versions of those apps. That's why the old ones appear in the thrash can after you're done updating. I have the same problem as I have both UK and US iTunes accounts. There is no other way around it as far as I'm aware.

I started with one itunes account for my iphone and ipad, and now have a second ipad linked to the same itunes.  Can I set up a new itunes account for one ipad without losing what has already been downloaded on it?  I want to stop my husbands downloads appearing on my ipad, and vice versa.

A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

You can't, well not easily anyway.  The iPad is not meant as a multi account device.
You can Sign Out of your iTunes account in Settings->iTunes and App Stores->Apple ID->Sign Out
However if you sign in with another ID and then download past purchases with it you will lock out the previous ID for 90 days. Which means it will not be able to be used on the iPad for 90 days.

No, not at the same time. You can use two different Apple ID/iTunes accounts on one iPad, but it is not advisable since you can lock yourself out of one of the ID's for 90 days if you download previously purchased content using the second ID.

  • Two iTunes accounts on one iPad?

Hi. My husband and I have itunes accounts on two separate laptops. However the laptops are now old and both don't work anymore. I can access my itunes from my ipad.  Can we have both iTunes accounts on one iPad without merging the accounts? Thank you!

Yea, but here's your problem...... You have to go into settings, store, tap ID, sign out, then sign in with the other. You can download everything from other account. If you have to update an app that's with the opposite account, then you have to repeat that process. Since the apps are tied to that apple I'd, updating requires to sign in with that account. The iPad technically is a 1 user device, but it is possible. Just if you don't mind logging in to his once and a while to update.

  • I am thinking of purchasing and iPad 2. Me and my wife both have iPhones and separate iTunes accounts. Is it possible to access both of our iTunes accounts on one iPad?

I have been toying with the idea of purchasing an iPad 2. Me and my wife both have separate  iTunes accounts as we both have iPhones. I just wondered if it's possible to log into more than one iTunes account on one iPad, or if not would we have to set up a joint iTunes account?

What you could do is have one of you with the main iTunes account and use home sharing to get access to your wife's iTunes music, etc.  my wife and I do this, but we each have our own iPads.

Unfortunately it will be difficult. iPads are personal devices like phones and done have credentials. You can of course log out of and into the app store to download purchased apps but the iPad will then have all the apps of both your wife and you (though you could put these into folders I guess).

  • Multiple Accounts on one iPad

So, here's the situation, my wife received an iPad from her school she teaches at, as she's starting a new program with the kids there where each one will have an iPad as a learning tool during class. So it's technically the school's device, but she has 95% free range with it. There are some restrictions that the IT guy placed on it (IT guys, am I right?) so there's a couple things that we were wondering about. They're not super important at all, but maybe someone knows.
Question 1 - She's concerned to plug it into her desktop computer, for fear of losing the apps that were purchased by the school. The iPad has both her Apple account on it, and the school's. If she syncs it with her iTunes on her computer, will that mess things up? We would just like to back up the purchases that she has made from her account on the device.
Question 2 - Is there a way to update apps that are on the iPad, but were purchased with the other account, without knowing the ID pass? Once again, not important at all. More of an annoyance is all. She can get them all updated through the IT guy once school starts again in the fall, but just seeing if there's a way.
Question 3 - And now, the most useless problem of all of them, is there a way to get send or receive Game Center friend requests outside of an iPad or other handheld device? I have an iPad myself and we tried to become "Game Center" friends last night and because there is all the restrictions on hers, she doesn't have the "invite friend" or "accept friend". I sent one but nothing ever showed up. Super extra not important, but thought we'd see.
    Thanks

You can sign in and out of two different iTunes accounts on the iPad but  - if the iPad is for your use - since you both have your own computers - I would recommend creating your own Apple ID and iTunes account. This way you can sync to your own computer and she can sync to hers.
Go to Settings>Store on the iPad. You should see your daughter's email address which is her Apple ID. Tap on the email address and a window will pop up that will allow you to sign out of her account. Then you can create your Apple ID and iTunes account.

The only thing about this is if you bought something already with her account - and I'm speaking only about purchases now - you will lose those items when you sync to iTunes. Any free apps can be downloaded again so no need to worry about those.

  • HT5620 How can I set up two separate accounts on one iPad?

How can I set up two separate accounts on one shared iPad?

The iPad is meant to be a single user device.
It is possible to use multiple ID's on an iOS device, but when you switch ID's and download content with another ID, you associate the device with that ID for 90 days and lock yourself out of the other ID for that 90 day period.
So while it is possible, it's not advisable.

  • Can we use 2 different apple accounts on one iPad?

We have just bought an iPad and both already have iPhones. We are currently trying to set up our iPad but can only seem to have one ID in. Is there a way of logging in and out of the two different accounts on the one iPad?
Any help would be appreciated! :)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only have one primary account on the iPad, logging in and out is possible but a bit of a nightmare.
If it's just mail calendars and contacts you want to sync with for both accounts, you can add a secondary account in settings > mail, contacts & calendars.

  • Questions about syncing multiple MobileMe accounts on one iPad

You can set up multiple MobileMe accounts; however, only one MobileMe account at a time can be used for Find My iPad and for syncing contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes. (iPad User Guide p. 32)
    Okay.
If you've done this already (created multiple MobileMe accounts on your iPad), can you please tell me how syncing two accounts to one device works in practice?
What prevents the merging of contacts and calendars between two MobileMe accounts and one instance of the Calendar and Contacts apps?
As a matter of functionality, and assuming there is a way to avoid merging this information, how does one access separate calendars and contacts from separate MobileMe accounts in the Calendar and Contact apps?
    Thanks!

I have set 2 MAIL account but I can only see one. How can I get MAIL incoming to my second MAIL account?

If you did create two email accounts on your iPad, when you tap the mail icon and it opens, tap the mail button to take you back to inboxes, where you'll see both accounts.
