Multi-activity Resource: Var. Cont. Consumption and Var. Duration?
Hi everybody,
I need to model the situation below:
The machine A is capable to process 10 m3 of the product P at once. A processing lasts 30 min regardless of the load of the machine.
For example, an order for 35 m3 of the product is to be executed. So, the machine is started 4 times (4th load is 5 m3) and processing time equals to 2 hours (30 min * 4).
If there is another order, for example, an order for 5 m3, then the two orders should be combined, that is, the 4th load must be full (residual 5 m3 of the order 1 + 5 m3 of the order 2).
I can't figure out a proper way to define consumption values in PPM. It's not possible to define both, duration and cont. consumption, as variable values.
Has someone any ideas?
Best regards,
Mikalai
Hello ,
To model the scenario you mentioned ,i would suggest following
1.Go with 'Fixed time-cont consumption ' of resource and 'variable duration' of the activity.
2.With Fixed cont-consumption the order will consume the resource capacity of ,only the resource on which it gets scheduled. And with
Variable duration the orders will be generated according to ppm settings(eg.1st order with duraion 105 mins and 2nd with duration 15mins)
3.Use std PPDS hueristics to generate orders(for eg. MRP hueristics), so that it will generate orders of qty 35m3 and 5m3 .
4.Use DS hueristics for scheduling so that the two diferent orders are combined to form equal load on the resources.
Thanks & Regards

Dear Friends,
We are using multi activity resource with number of individual capacity as 10. when planning is done, it is giving the same start date for 10 different order as it has 10 individual capacity. But my requirement is,
1 day = 7 hrs. total available capacity is 70 hrs per day.
i want the system to consume 10 capacities at a time for one order. but 10 capacitoes are consumed by 10 different planned orders. Is there any setting to handle this.
Pls get back to me with your valuable inputs.
Regards
VinayHi ,
This is based on the consumption you defined in PPM or PDS for example :
8 Hours to produce 1 Product , and you have maintain 10 individual capacity
This means SAP will consume 1 individual capacity only
Variable consumption are available in PPM

Use of Single Activity/ Multi activity Resource
Dear All,
In which PP (PP-PI or IN Project system) area following functionalities are used
Single activity resource
Multiactivity resource
Bucket resource
Please reply
Thanks,
ShailendraHi,
Only one activity can be carried out at a time in a single-activity resource.
Several activities can be carried out at once in a multiactivity resource.
You can carry out to-the-second planning for both resource types in Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) and Capable-to-Match Planning (CTM) to determine exact production dates. You can also define planning parameters that allow you to carry out a bucket-oriented capacity check in the CTP process and in block planning.

How to limit /var/adm/wtmpx and /var/adm/lastlog
Hi,
As many others I have a problem too with these files growing indefinitely.
I wanted to know if there is any system configuration or system program to limit or trim the size of these files.
I am OK if the oldest records get purged, but I don't want these files to grow indefinitely.
I appreaciate any suggestions and help.
Thanks
SriniI think the easiest would be to use 'dd' to copy the file to a temporary area and then back again:
dd if=/var/adm/wtmpx of=/tmp/wtmpx.save bs=372
dd if=/tmp/wtmpx.save of=/var/adm/wtmpx bs=372 skip=$number_of_blocks_to_skip
The variable $number_of_blocks_to_skip is simply an arbitrary number you're comfortable with. You can build that up by using 'wc' to find the number of lines (blocks) in the file:
wsize=`wc -l /var/adm/wtmpx | awk ' { print $1 } '`
number_of_blocks_to_skip= `expr $wize - 1000` (this will ensure that the skip is until 1000 blocks from the end) -

ByeHi,
#h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.cssd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
by commenting above line in initttab file would stop messaging, is this would have any adverse affect on the database. As its a production server, so i am really taking time to resolve it. Your suggestions are welcome. If there is no harm in commenting the above line then i would go forward to comment that line.
Thanks

KSII - Trying to split the activity price in fix and var
Hi gurus,
does anibody know if is possible calculating the actual activity price split in fix and var?
I know the percentage in which i'd like to split the price, for example 75% and 25% for Cost Center Group XXX; 60% and 40% for Cost Center Group YYY and so on...
Is it possible to do something in the system in order to obtain the price split?
As it is now, the price is all fix.
Thanks,
EnricoHi Enrico
It is possilbe... For that you need to plan costs in KP06 like that.... i.e. You need to do activity dependant planning in KP06 so that you will be able to enter Plan values - Both Fixed and variable
You would agree that Act Price is Plan Cost / Plan Qty... So, the Numerator i.e. Plan Cost has to be planned as such in order to get the output as fixed and variable price
Thats the only possible way and no other option exists

Batch wise actual material consumption and activity cost
hi
my client is steel industry, client requirement is heat wise actual material and machine cost. Heat is a batch number, how i can check batch wise actual material consumption and machine cost.
regards
imdadHi Imdad
Whats the batch definition in your case?? have you designed One batch per Prod order or One batch per GR?
If its one batch per Prod order - you can directly see the prod order.. however, chances are less for this as Steel company might be using PCC i.e. repetitive mfg
If its one batch per GR - Then you will have to track using the Confirmation no because each Confirmation will trigger the Goods Issue and Activity Confirmations...
Using Table AFRU - You can track the individual Confirmation no and also the Activity Qty confirmed....COSS / COSSD will have the Activity Cost
If any goods mvt are posted during the Confirmation, you would see a Mat Doc No populated in the field "Mat Doc"

Instance name and Var for Input Text fields
I have several Input Text fields, as a form, linked to a PHP
script for which I require Var's for each field.
But I also need Instance names for each field, so I can fix
the tabIndex.
Yet, everytime I test my movie, the text fields have their
Paths (_level0.fName) written in them.
They are normally blank, and I've tried putting in some text
of my own, but the Var name is still displayed in the text fields.
Is there any way I can stop that from happening, and keep
both the Instance names and Var's in-place.
As far as I know, I need both the Instance name (for the
tabIndex) and the Var (for the PHP script) or is there a way that
the tabIndex and PHP script will work with either of the two?
Thanks
Chaz. Can you use a different name for ‘instance name’
and ‘var’? That seems to solve the problem but I
don’t know if that helps you in your situation.
For an example;
Instance name: test_txt
Var: test -
Signal to phone varies between 4G and 1X. Can that be improved without using antennae.
Signal strength varies from 4G to 1X, is there an adjustment in the phone to correct or is it necessary to buy xtra antennae.
Thank you for replying.
Signal varies in 61822 and 33917 zip codes. The incline plane emblem next
to battery icon never shows strength greater than just the tip of the
indicator except when I go to Verizon corporate store where they have a
booster. It happens in and out doors. I have not removed the sim card. This

The main effect is to fill /tmp and /var/log with garbage so nothing can write to them, which will probably affect some things and not others... https://www.youtube.com/embed/2Gwnmb6P-3k -
Merge /opt and /var filesystem.
We have Solaris 2.6 running on one of our production Servers(Sun E450).
For some reasons we need to merge /opt and /var partitions, so that we can free one slice for our use. What are the suggested methods in which this can be done with minimum downtime ? Also I would like to know the repercussions if any ?Hi Ernesto,
Please check the timestamp for the crash files under /var. Delete the older ones as even the OS support group may not analyze any older crash dump files.
Or
Move these crash dump files to new location where you have enough space.

Shouldn't /var/run and /var/run/lock point to absolute paths?
I have a setup with my 'var' on a separate partition that causes /var/run and /var/run/lock to point to nothing each time I upgrade the filesystem package and I wonder if this is a bug.
Mounted at /mnt/data is a luks encrypted partion where I keep my home and var as subdirectories. Two symlinks point to them from root:
# ls -al /
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Apr 21 2011 home -> /mnt/data/home
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Apr 21 2011 var -> /mnt/data/var
Each time I upgrade the filesystems package however I end up with /var/run and /var/lock pointing to '../run' and ../run/lock', which in my case are the non-existing /mnt/data/run and /mnt/data/run/lock. I have to delete the symlinks and make them link to the absolute /run and /run/lock. Is there a reason the symlinks are relative instead of absolute?

(this should have been posted in 'Pacman & Package Upgrade Issues' instead of here.)

Last edited by rwd (2012-06-24 18:14:08)Thanks! After using bind mounts and reinstalling the filesystems package the relative links work. Still I wonder why using bind mounts instead of symlinks is the 'correct' way. The only advantage I see is to have the ability to use mount options, which In my case I don't need.

[SOLVED] Cloning boot and var partitions to a new drive for booting
Ok first of all here's my setup:
fakeraid (dmraid) / and home on an OCZ Revodrive
boot with GRUB on a flash drive (since fakeraid doesn't support grub)
var and downloads/media folder on a 500GB WD Caviar drive
When I originally installed Arch I had the Caviar drive in my home server in a RAID5 array, so that's why I opted to install boot and grub on a flash drive simply for booting. Now that I have the drive in my desktop I've cloned the flash drive's partitions and MBR using dd:
#dd if=/dev/sde of=~/MBR.img bs=512 count=1
#dd if=/dev/sde1 of=~/boot.img
#dd if=/dev/sdc1 of=~/var.img
I then backed up my downloads/media partition, then removed the partition table, then used dd to put the img files on the Caviar drive.
#dd if=~/MBR.img of=/dev/sdc bs=512 count=1
#dd of=~/boot.img of=/dev/sdc1
#dd of=~/var.img of=/dev/sdc2
I also created labels for the filesystems and put those in fstab.
I'm able to mount both partitions, however I can't boot from the drive. I get a 'grub hard disk error' (no error number) when I put it as my first drive in the BIOS.
I can still use the flash drive as the first hard drive in the BIOS and boot from it, then it mounts the dmraid root partition and boots successfully. It is also able to mount the var and boot partitions in fstab.
Basically the only problem is that the MBR is somehow wrong. I then tried booting back into an Arch live USB and installing GRUB from the prompt:
grub
grub>setup (hd4,0) (in this case the Caviar drive's boot partition was /dev/sde1
So essentially what I'm asking is how GRUB handles the MBR. Is it specific to the partition table of the drive in which it resides when it's originally installed? For instance, since I had an 8GB flash drive with 2 partitions when I installed GRUB, is the backed up MBR no good for a 500GB drive with 3 partitions?
I have everything backed up so I can start with a fresh /boot and /var if need be....I'm just not sure where to start.
Thanks in advance.

It failed on a few non-critical parts, and succeeded on the last part. I'm going to try again shortly, possibly I did something wrong. GRUB is able to find the stage files using:
#grub
grub>find /grub/stage1
grub> find /grub/stage1
(hd0,0)
(hd5,0)
grub>
(hd0,0) is the desired boot drive, while (hd5,0) is the current bootable flash drive with /boot and GRUB installed.

I'm using dmraid, so just to be clear I've configured the raid using:
#modprobe dm_mod
#dmraid -ay
Then I saw the array stored in /dev/mapper/silXXXXX. I then created partitions for /boot, /, and home. At that time I was hoping to get GRUB working with the AUR package grub2-dmraid. I wasn't able to get it working for some time, so I just went ahead and installed boot and GRUB to a separate USB flash drive.

Also I don't have a /proc/mdstat. That's only for mdadm RAID setups, right? It's been quite some time since I've used mdadm so I can't remember.
EDIT:
So I booted into a live Arch USB and entered the grub shell. I ran:
#grub
grub> root (hd3,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
grub> setup (hd3)
Checking if "/boot/grub/stage1" exists.....no
Checking if "/grub/stage1 exists.......yes
Checking if "/grub/stage2 exists.......yes
Checking if "/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 exists....yes
Running "embed /grub/e2fs_stage1_5 (hd3)".....25 sectors are embedded.
succeeded
Running "install /grub/stage1 (hd3) (hd3))1+25 p (hd3,0)/grub/stage2 /grub/menu.lst".......succeeded
Done.
Last time I recall more errors than this, then it reporting that one was a non-critical error, so I think the problem may be solved. More to come.

[SOLVED] Moving boot, home and var partition post-install
I've installed my whole Arch on a single 10GB partition because of low disk space. But now that I've gained a lot of disk space, I want to move /boot, /home and /var to separate partitions.
I'm going to use live CD, so everything will be unmounted.
home and var:
I assume it's just a matter of moving files and changing fstab.
boot:
I assume, I'll have to move all files to new partition and re-install grub/burg.
Is there anything more to it?
Last edited by Camus (2011-12-01 11:37:32)You need to edit your fstab file, copy files to the new partitions (check for permissions!), and restore grub(2), see wiki.
If you do not have custimized Arch, you could do a reinstall, but I'm not responsible for that tip. So be sure to have a backup or something like that.

Hi I have a requirement where I have to make possible to drill down from, let's say, a pie chart to a horizontal bar view. Drill down is working fine. The problem is that first level has 5 elements and second level has between 20 and 25 elements for
