Multi-CD language course and inconsistent CDDB names?

I've just loaded a French language course onto itunes - consists of 10 CDs. Itunes found CD title and track info in CDDB which it downloaded, but most of it's hopelessly inaccurate and inconsistent... eg some of the discs were imported under 'Compilation'; others under the name of the course teacher, and at least three different spellings have been used so they appear on iTunes as different people. I've experimented with manually renaming and sorting the files under Windows Explorer and also under iTunes, but am unable to stop things continually reverting to the original names.
What is the correct process here?
- Should I rename and sort the files in iTunes or Explorer? Should I check the "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organied?" box or not?
- Ideally once it's done I'd like to upload my version to CCDB so future users won't have the same problem - how do I do that?

there isn't a dedicated technical-feedback/feature-request channel for itunes. but there is one for the ipod. since itunes is the only supported means of getting music onto an ipod, i reckon that's a worthy channel through which to make itunes feature requests direct to the Appley-folks:

One account and two user names??? HOW??

First of all, I own 5 Macs in my company, from iMac 24" to Macmini, the entire line. Use Macs since Classic model, so I'm not totally dumb... or may be I am
It started with a problem syncing iCal and Contacts. The database files became corrupted. Checked the logs and it seemed an permissions problem. try to fixed but the problem returned.
Of course I deleted iCal and contact files at Library, create new one and imported from backup - the same problem happened.
Then I started to dig the problema and when I looked at my keychains I found that I have two user names "sharing" the same user account...how?? one is marcio and other is Marcio Esteves.
I can't find any reference to this second user name apart from keychain. Tryied to delete the keychain and create a new one but the same... When trying to fix the keychain it show me this:

Of course I can format the HD and re-install from the scratch but I'm curious because, as far as I know, user names and accounts can not be duplicated.
The only thing that occurs to me is when I bought this machine - MB pro 2.4 - I imported the account from my previous MB pro AFTER change user name from "marcio" to "Marcio Esteves", keeping the same home directory name as "marcio" (as still today).
So, how can I fix it without formatting and installing everything again??

Every account on a Mac has two names. These names are called different things depending on the version of the OS and whether you are looking at the System Preferences|Accounts panel or the Workgroup Manager on a server. The "Name" or "Full Name" and the "Short Name" or "Account Name". The short name is the typical unix username. and the full name is just that, your full name. The Mac allows you to use either of these in any of the GUI dialog boxes that ask for your user name and password. At the command line I think you can only use your short name. I see that in OS X 10.6, once you create an account, you cannot see the short name in the System Preferences|Accounts panel any longer.
At a command line (in the Terminal application for example) you can type id or whoami to see your short name.
I think it is probably normal for entries in your keychain to refer to both or either of these names.
As for creating new accounts and copying files I think you should be able to do most of that when logged in as an admin user (which you don't normally do, right?).

Custom report to work in different languages EN and ZH.

I wrote the report which has to work on languages EN and ZH(chinese language).
It is working fine in EN, When I login with language 'ZH', the selecion screen is not displaying in Chinese language. Is there anything to do to display the selection screen in ZH language?
When I change the text elements and selecion texts in report in ZH language, it is reflecting the same for EN language as well.
Is there anything to do to solve this?

Did you maintaied the Translations for that text...
if not try this ...T.Code: SE63 and follow the below path
Translation >R/3 Enterprise> Short Texts --> S3-ABAP Texts --> REPT Text Elements
Then give the Program name as an Object Name and Chooses the languages..
There you can Translate all the required texts for that program.

My 9800 ( I have 2 - one spare ) is driving me nuts- will not let me set up email accounts from my other Curve model.
Repeatedly told that either user name or details are wrong, yet they are RIGHT on website.

Thank you- I have read through that thread and can see some resonance with my issue.
My AOL emails work VERY fast with BB, in fact almost simultaneously received on PC & Torch " ping ping!"
This issue only raised its ugly head when I had 2 Torches replaced by my insurers.
Whilst the claim was in process I used a new Curve, loaded from backup on PC to keep emails going and of course phone & web facilities. ( I use the BB to power internet via bluetooth to my PC / laptop when living on a remote island with no phone lines or power supplies) All was fine. Swapping email accounts took a few minutes with the usual password confirmations for each AOL screenname etc.
Then the new Torches came back from insurers, and I tried to swap devices. Phoning & texting is fine. Al data and contacts swap over fine.
SETUP email accounts.............stymied every time. It says repeatedly that my user name/password is invalid etc etc etc
Have tried security wipes. Have tried setting up new BB ID & passwords on PC website. All is OK until I try to setup emails on the Torches. This has used up ridiculous amounts of time- all wasted.
I love the BB phones and the fast email push......in fact I recently bought a new Sony Xperia Z1 but sent it back because of wifi coverage meant no emails on that superb phone for lots of the time.
Good old BB I said..........I always get emails wherever I am. ( Rural Scotland has very patchy radio & wifi coverage)
Was about to purchase new Z10s just to get a bigger screen, but now I am averse to buying ANY BB phone again because this present mess means I may never get emails set up again. How nuts is that?

How do I get my language course podcast to show up in language courses in iTunes?

I have a podcast that is listed as a "Language Course" for English that is listed and fairly highly ranked in the Education podcast section in iTunes. However, I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to show up specifically in the English Language Courses of the Language Learning collection as linked from the iTunes Store Podcast main page on the lower right side. My RSS is pretty clear and doesn't differ in terms of category tags from the podcasts that do show up in that category. Is there some extra step I have to take to get that classification?

These are what are called 'featured podcasts' and are selected by the iTunes Store staff. Apple's help page says:
Being Featured on iTunes Store.
At iTunes, we’re constantly on the lookout for podcasts that are breaking new ground with this medium, have new or unusual content, or just capture our interest. When we find them, we like to feature them on the Podcasts home page. While there are no sure-fire ways to get your podcast featured (and no, we do not accept payments or gifts for promotion), there are some minimum requirements. To be featured by iTunes, podcasts must have:
An attractive, original image that does not include the iPod or other Apple-branded content. For image specs, see the iTunes Image section below.
A robust and accurate description for the podcast and all related episodes.
A valid author listed.

In addition, featured podcasts must be regularly updated with new episodes. I've downloaded a language course on to my iMac. It is in two folders on the desktop. There is no corresponding app, so how can I transfer it to the iPad ?

How can I make it useable on the iPad ??

Launch iTunes on your computer and from the menu at the top go to File>Add to Library and then navigate to wherever the files are located on your desktop. Create a playlist in iTunes if you want to and then sync the playlist to the iPad. Play the files in the Music App on the iPad.

Handling multi byte languages in Web Service

Hi,
I am calling a web service and its working fine with English language i.e web service is returning correct parameters with English.
But it's returning me Junk characters when i call web service with multi byte languages like Japanese, Russian etc.,
Generally while configuring Web Service or calling a web service using proxy - it asks for a user id/ Pwd but not a logon language (unlike while you login SAP it asks for Logon Language) so i am thinking since there is no option to enter log on language, its taking a default language i.e English so when i am passing japanese its returning me Junk Values.
Can any one please help me with this? How to handle multi byte webservice call? I am using ECC 5.0.

I appreciate your thought but our webservice must be able to handle multiple languages not only Japanese. Users might call webservice in any language they prefer. If i change it my default to Japanese, i will have problem when users call webservice in Russian.

How can I change the "folio name" and the "publication name?

We have posted a Multi-folio App a single folio in it.
We would like change the "folio name" and the "publication name” and we tried to do this using the dashboard. However, when clicking “update” we unchecked the “update content” checkbox, because there are no changes to the folio’s content. The problem is that this didn’t change anything in the app: both the "folio name" and the "publication name” remain unchanged…
Is it possible to do this without having to repost this folio?

The metadata is considered part of the content. Click update again and leave the "update content" checkbox checked.

Can anyone please help with the Incoming and Outgoin server names for Hotmail account.I am trying to set up my hotmail account on my i phone.Has anyone been succesful at doing this?

You can configure Hotmail to work on the iPhone. It's working great on mine!! You have to upgrade to a Hotmail Plus account (although, apparently they will be offering POP3 on free accounts, as well, sometime within the next year). It sounds like POP3 on the paid Hotmail accounts is something that was just "officially" enabled last week. I found an official announcement from one of the Lead PMs for Hotmail - take a look, here:

I just upgraded my Hotmail account to Hotmail Plus yesterday and now my mail works from my iPhone (it was not working yesterday before I upgraded my account). Here are the iPhone mail settings I am using successfully (the email addresses and passwords are just examples, of course):

Servername and virtual host name is the same - how to handle this

I set up a server with the hostname yxzwiki.org
In the Server app under Websites this domain points to /Sites
In this /Sites directory is all my content (several Wikis) and also the phpmyadmin.
What is the issue now?
I want this xyzwiki.org not only as the hostname but as a virtual host as well.
So I have the following entry in the corresponding conf file.

ServerName xyzwiki.org
ServerAdmin [email protected]
DocumentRoot "/Sites/xyzwiki/xyzenwiki"
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
How can I handle this?
xyzwiki.org shows the content of /Sites/xyzwiki/xyzenwiki but I cannot e.g. get access to http://xyzwiki.org/phpmyadmin
Any ideas?

I guess I have talk more about this issue that people got the chance to help
xyz.org is the host name of our server.
The intention of this server is to run a wiki via mediawiki.
When we first set up the server we planned to have three language versions and the corresponding wikis were found on the server under
en.xyz.org for the English version
de.xyz.org for the German and
es.xyz.org for the Spanish version
But then we decided ONLY to concentrate on the English version and so prefix en became deprecated and we only want the domain xyz.org that shows the English Wiki.
The English wiki is on our server under /Sites/xyz-wiki/xyz-enwiki
In the Server.app I defined /Sites as the server website and I have a virtual host for xyz.org AS WELL that defines /Sites/tangowiki/tangoenwiki.
This seems to overrule the entry in the server.app as xyz.org shows the content of /Sites/xyz-wiki/xyz-enwiki
As I have other "services" as well under /Sites, e.g. phpmyadmin it is not possible for me with xyz.org/phpmyadmin to get to this service.
So what I am looking for is a trick that I can keep the /Sites directory as the main directory for xyz.org. I was thinking of a symlink for the index.php from /Sites/xyz-wiki/xyz-enwiki and to remove the virtual host entry but this does not work. Any other ideas.

My lock screen just shows a black background and a User Name/Password dialog after opening the screen from sleep. How do I get it back to where it blurs my desktop image with the dialog and my account image displayed?

I'm not sure when it began, but now my Macbook Air only shows a black background and a User Name and Password dialog box when I wake it from sleep. It used to show my desktop background blurred with my user name and icon displayed with only a text field for entering my password. I'm currently using Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1) and all updates have been done. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I know this isn't a real problem, just an annoyance since I couldn't find how to change it back in the System Preferences.

I just have to point out that after looking at a related post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/22661092#22661092), it brought to memory that my issue most certainly began happening after I added some DoD certificates to the keychain. This obviously has something to do with it, but it still leaves me wondering what actually causes this to happen. :/

Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server

I am using C# and ADO.NET (native) - Visual Studio 2013.
I am always using full qualified queries like "SELECT * FROM [database].[schema].[table]"
Obviously there is a problem when doing this against SQL Azure,
I get the following error: "Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server"
Interesting fact: With SQL Management Studio, the same query works.
I need to know if this error is really a true one or not.
If yes, I can quit using SQL Azure. I would need a SQL Server and not a partial SQL Server :-)

Here are my suggestions:
1. Use partially qualified queries, because:
a. from a security standpoint, you'd want to limit your login's access across the server instance
b. in order to achieve a even better, you should specify your database as the Initial Catalog directly in the SQL Connection.
If you take into account these practices, SQL Database doesn't come with any limitation from that point of view.
However, in regard to 'With SQL Management Studio, the same query works', this is actually only partially true because if you run that query agains ADO.NET, you'll actually end up in switching databases along the query which is obviously not permitted in
SQL Database since you're running in a hosted black-box version of SQL you're not managing. It's just like running the USE <dbname> command which obviously doesn't work.

What is the difference between an apple id and a .mac name?

I already have an Apple id that I set up when registering my macbook and for my itunes account. My Apple id is not an email address, it is just a word. I now want to get a .mac account but am not sure whether I am supposed to use the same id for this, or can I choose another name? Would this then be my menber name and my email name? I would prefer a combination of letters and numbers.

Supposedly they've merged... although I do find from time-to-time, that sometimes you need to enter just <userid>, and other times <[email protected]> to login to a particular service.

An Ipod can be synced with only one ITunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this IPod with the contents of this ITunes library.
Then it asks me if I want to delete and sync.
I am not sure what to do for fear of erasing everything I have put on my Ipod.
I would appreciate if someone could help me out.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to use iTunes to play the Music in your iPod but which is not in your itunes library. I don't think Apple design iTunes for use in your way. As to put and play music in iPod, the music has to be in iTunes first, so you play music in the iTunes music Library. the window with Ipod music is just to show you which music are already in the Ipod, in case you want to Manually Manage your huge music library.
