Multi-clip multi-audio track video mash-up (think one-man-band).

Is there a way to add 3-5 videos to play at once, maybe make a grid to show the videos, and combine the audios? I want to record myself playing drums, guitar, bass, piano, and singing a song, then combine them all to play the song. Possible?

Not in iMovie as standard (only two alt. - Pic in Pic or Side by Side)
Work around:
• Create the MultiClip in QuickTime Player Pro - and import this - or -
• Create first Pic in Pick as a new iMovie project
- Export this as a full quality QT.mov
- Import this into a New Project
- Add one more Pic
- Export / Import / Add - and so om
• Use FinalCut Pro instead - all things like this is so much easier

Choosing audio track in a multi audio track video (Quicktime or WMV)

Morning all,
Quicktime and Windows Media support multiple audio tracks in
a single .mov or .wmv file. I have a couple .mov's and .wmv's with
4 different audio tracks in each one (such a space saver). On my
menu in director, i have 4 buttons which point to the same video.
how do i have it so that if i press "audio 1" button the video will
play with the first audio channel from the video..., or if i press
"audio 2" button the second audio channel will play, etc etc.
Think of a DVD with multiple language tracks, but instead
it's a quicktime/wmv file.
I tried using the setTrackEnable but no matter which button I
choose, it's always the first audio track in the video. maybe I'm
scripting it wrong? Here is the codes I've tried

Unless you've created an archive iDVD project file the audio is only linked to the project from wherever you kept the files when creating the project.

Locking video clip to audio track?

I have a bunch of video clips in my sequence. A couple of the clips I want at certain points of the audio track and I dont want them to move but when I ripple delete video clips in fron of them it shifts the clips back (moving them away from the specific spot on the audio track). Is there a way to lock a video clip to a certain part of the audio?
I tried "grouping" the video clip and the audio but that doesn't seem to work as the video clips still move.

You can't lock a clip, only a track. Move the desired clips to a higher track and lock that.

Can't drag clip to preferred track, video 1

I have 12 clips in my project bin. I have dragged 8 to video 1 successfully, but suddenly, any clips i add now go to Video 3, and attempts to drag them to Video 1 fail.
This is obviously something very basic i have messed up, but what could i have done.

Yes, that must be it....the clips that go to video 1 are shot in slow motion, i.e. "super slow" function on my Sony camera..with no audio whatsoever, whereas the other clips are normal motion with 5.1 audio...so thanks, you are on the money !

MP4 files don't have audio tracks, Video track is blank.

I'm trying to make an AMV and so I imported some MP4 files for footage but, they don't have an audio track and the video track is blank. I'd greatly appreciate any help you can give.

.avi movie with two audio tracks but QT only shows one

I have a .avi file. When I play it in the VLC Player I can choose between two different audio tracks (two different language tracks) but when I open the same file in QT I only get one track and of course it is the language I don't speak. Is there a way to get into this file and delete the track with the language I don't want so that when I open it in QT it plays the right track/language?

I do have QT Pro.
H.264 files are usually saved in a MP4 container. That's what Handbrake, ffpegX, and D-Vision create, anyway.
The "Choose Language" option is greyed out (unavailable) when I open this H.264 MP4 in Quicktime. If I try to change the settings in "Movie Properties," it says that I must save it with the .MOV file suffix.
It makes no sense to me that Quicktime Player can correctly identify the main audio soundtrack in a XviD file with an AVI container but not in a H.264 video with a MP4 container which Apple has been touting as the latest, greatest thing. Even VLC, an open source product still in beta, gets it right.

Play audio and video streams in only one player

I am programming a video conference system and I need to play streams of audio and video with only one player. I recieve the audio and video with two different sessions and two windows players are opened to play the medias. I want to play both medias with an only window. Can I do this?

Importing Multi Audio Track Videos

So I have the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 which allows me to record 3 seperate tracks, The Game Audio, My Microphone Audio, And My PC Audio. It records in the .ts format and imports fine, except it only has track 1 the game audio. I can't add more tracks to it doesn't see the other two tracks, Now I had a problem with Dxtory with this, and I found a work around with the Extract Audio Stream button on the AVI files from Dxtory, and I would just import them then. But the .ts file which I can export to .mp4 do not have an Extract Audio Stream button. I am using Windows 7 64 bit and I am very unsure why Adobe Premiere doesn't see it. I am using Adobe Premiere CC, latest version. And this is a feature I really need, Please Help.

Somehow I cannot justify the purchase of Final Cut Pro – and though I'm quite comfortable with some of the advanced functionality of iMovie HD '06 – then going through its learning curve, just to copy some LD features from 20 years ago.
Of course the problem with the good ol' LD player is that it's ol' technology with no guarantee that the player will either continue to work, nor that a replacement will be available when it might be needed.
Given the low cost and relatively easy ability to copy a LD twice, once with normal audio and once with the commentary, I think the decision has been made.

Problems with synching multi clips to audio

I am using FCP 5. Using the multiclip feature. I have about 30 clips that are in synch. I use audio from only one of the sources. I am doing a music video & I am trying to sync a separate aiff file to the clips in the timeline. It progressively gets out of sych the further into the sequence. what can I do to prevent this?

when you try to sync the calendar, does it stop at a certain part? which part? does it give you an error?
Have you tried going to control panel, mail, profiles, create a test profile. make it the default(dont add an email... just cancel the wizard)
open outlook(which will now be the new default test profile)
create a test entry and try syncing that
also on your device.. open options-advanced options- default services... which email is set for calendar?
on device, open your calendar, click menu button, and options
how many calendars do you see there, and if you click on each one, how many entries do each one have?
check and see if you have facebook 1.5 installed... go through its options, you may see some check boxes for facebook to take over calendar

Syncing multi clips and audio?

Ok. So I do drum covers and make basic videos with imovie 09. I have upgraded to imovie 11. Is there a way to take video from two different cameras of me playing the drums to a particular song and split certain clips from each video and still keep them in sync with the audio of the song that I import from itunes?

First in your i Movie preferences check "show advanced..." to get some extra features for editing clips.
I would try the following procedure:
Import the footage from the 2 camera's as 2 events
Create a project.
Import the footage from one camera into the project, then from the other event
When you now place a clip over an existing one you get different options amongst an option to replace the existing clip.
Next step I would use the precision editor.
The use of beat-markers could also be of help to you.
I would suggest to look into your helpfunction or the website for precise instructions

Nope. Convert one to match the other using Compressor. Or better yet, convert them both to matching ProRes 422 files.

Line Up Clips for a Multi-clip Edit

Hi I am editing a dance video, when it was recorded at the event a few of the camera people decided to pause after every song - this has made it a hassle to edit. I am trying to line up the clips to get them all in sync for a multi-clip. The only way I could think of to do this was give each camera angle a track and line them up that. I almost have them all lined up, but I have no idea how to make it back into one clip, since it is currently cut into tons of pieces. How do I combine them back into one clip? The closest I could find was Nesting, but that creates a sequence, and I can't make a Multi-clip out of sequences.
Each video track is a different angle, the screenshot I posted doesn't show all of the clips lined up, because I didn't get quite that far. How can I make this into a multi-clip
I just started using Final Cut about a week ago and I don't really know how it all works....yet.
Any help would be appreciated.

Opened FCP Clip In STP . . . Now How Do I Add Audio Tracks?

I have opened an FCP 6 video clip in STP and the video and 2 audio tracks are facing me.
I want to get rid of the clip's audio tracks and replace them with tracks on which I am going to create a musical background.
I am not concerned about deleting the original audio tracks as I can mute them back in FCP but I would like to add some new tracks for the music.
It was dead simple in the old Soundtrack 1.5 but how do I do it in STP ?

I'm on STP 2.0.2 and page 409 doesn't seem to have anything relevant but your sentences do!
I tried "Send to STP Multitrack Project" and that seems to fit the bill.
So why didn't I try it earlier? I made an assumption . . . . . I assumed that "multitrack" was synonymous with "multicam" and as I wasn't exporting a multicam file, it would not be appropriate.
It's not the first time I have been tripped up by terminology.

Problems Sycing multiple Audio tracks with Video. Please help

I have a video clip from my Cannon 70D that im trying to sync with 2 seperate audio tracks from my Zoom. One LR stero track and one wireless mic track.
I select all three clips in the event windo and chose SYNC CLIPS from the clip menu. I take the Syncronized clip and place it in the time line , but when i go to expand audio there are only two track available - The scratch audio from the camera clip and what appears to the LR audio from the Zoom. Hard to tell though because Final Cut renames the Audio for me. I did notice that the sample rate on the video and audio files are different. Could that be the problem?

I haven't had much luck with SYNC CLIPS. I suggest you use Multicam instead.
Go to the Inspector and set up your Canon video as Angle 1. Set Zoom XY as Angle 2, and set Zoom wireless mic as Angle 3. Then Select the clips and FILE/NEW MULTICAM CLIP.

Multi Clip in Final Cut Pro

I am new to Mac and Final Cut Pro.
I am trying to use multi-clip for a music video.
I have imported 4 video clips (put them on my desktop) into Final Cut Pro,
rendered each one.
Modified the clips to start at the same, started a new bin, put the clips there,
then I selected them all and Made a Multiclip...it was created.
I started a new sequence, put the new multiclip in the sequence
the problem is here, all the four clips appear in the viewer box but when i push play, they play very, very slow and choppy. When i select a different clip while these choppyness is playing (it does not modify the multiclip in the timeline). Also another thing I noticed is that the multiclip in the sequence is not high-lighted in green.
How can I get the multiclips to play smoothly and change screens?
