  • Ipod froze with multi-colored lines.

My iPod suddenly froze with multi-colored lines in the screen as I was waiting for an app to start. I tried holding both the sleep/awake button and home button at the same time to restart it, but it won't work. I tried connecting it to the computer itunes but it wasn't recognized. What should I do, help please?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Multi-color line in Safari

On Safari 5 there is occasionally a multi-color line running almost through the entire window. Does anyone know why this happens or what it is?

    HI Richard,
    That shouldn't be happening, obviously.
Have you tried Safari on another user account? See if you see that line there.

  • Crashing with horizontal colored lines on screen?

I've been having a serious issue with my MacBook Pro 13" recently. It started as different occasions of randomly crashing, and then progressed into crashing while horizontal colored lines flicker on the screen. The only option to fix this is short term, I will restart my computer only to have the lines show up ten minutes later and then have to restart again. This has been a nightmare for getting any work done, saving files, etc. Sometimes it crashes three times in the span of thirty minutes, and at that point will not even turn on but will instead trigger three beeps to sound, which I know is a sign of bad RAM.
I actually invested in completely new RAM to see if I would fix the problem, upgrading from 8gb to 16gb. No luck, I still had crashing. I also completely erased my hard drive and performed a system restore. Also no luck. The lines and crashing are back.
Has this happened to anyone else before? I'm worried this is an issue that I won't be able to fix, and I'll have to buy a new computer entirely which is super upsetting considering I only bought this Mac last year.
Here's an image of the screen in all it's messed up glory (featuring adventures in online dating):

    I would appreciate any help!

I bought my macbook like a month ago and already sent
it in for repair once. Now I have another problem.
When ever I turned on my MB the screen just shows
like a thousand multi colored lines and stays that
way. The night b4 this happened the battery ran out
and I was to lazy to charge it, so i just left it
dead over night. When I woke this problem took
effect. Anyone know what the problem is???
    thnx in advance,
    It's a bug in OS 10.4.7.

  • I-pod touch has multi-colored lines across it, can it be fixed?

I was playing a game on my Touch when it froze and then it changed to a screen with multi-colored horizontal lines across it. I have tried to reset it, but it will not respond. I cannot even get it to turn off. I have a feeling that it is a hardware problem, any suggestions?

  • MBP strange flickering blocks of multi-coloured lines on screen

    Hi
over the past few weeks when awaking from sleep my MBP 13" (mid-2012) has had this problem <a href="http://s1204.photobucket.com/user/sjwhite26/media/IMG_0035.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb404/sjwhite26/IMG_0035.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_0035.jpg"/></a> i.e. blocks of multi coloured lines flickering on the screen.
You can use the machine, but its incredibly annoying and and reboot gets rid of it.  My issue is that it is happening more and more.  I also have the issue when the MBP won't always wake from sleep when using the mini display port attached to my screen.  This is viewable on the laptop's native screen as well as the dell screen.
Any help would be appreciated.  I've tried all the PRAM etc resets.
    Thanks

Let the battery full drain. After charging for at least an hour try again. Include thises suggestions as necessary.

  • White screen iPhone 3G

    Hello
a few months ago my dad dropped the iPhone, glass was broken so I sent the phone to ISN-service for repairing the glass. When I got it back, the phone worked perfectly, but after a few hours the only thing I get is a white screen.
I mailed back, and now they replaced the whole LCD screen, still no luck.
Yesterday, I tried again to restore the iPhone and it works! iPhone was working perfectly, but today again I encountered the white screen.
How can I fix this? It must be sofwarethingies I think, because the iPhone has worked multiple times.
    Thank you

I opened up the iPhone a few minutes ago, and there was a cable disconnected. I connected it, and now my iPhone works.
    thanks

  • My mac book flickered and now there is a solid black 1/4" vertical line  bar and a bunch of multi colored lines. Whats up?

Screen flickered then a black line appeared on the right side and beside it a bunch of colored lines/ vertical, and that area is dead, Cursor won't go there.  Any suggestions?  Fixes, or is my display shot?
    Thanks,  Don

    More details:
The regular/non-extended Hardware Test returned no problems, despite taking hours for what was supposed to be a 3-5 minute test. I haven't dared run the extended.
I also tried removing third-party RAM and using the original configuration, then just the third-party and no Apple, etc.. It's not the RAM, as the problem is exactly the same.
I'm going to call up Apple support when I can, but just looking for other things I can check or possibly do until then, or just insight on what the problem could be.
Is it most likely the graphics card? Could it be an issue with the core hardware?

  • Thin vertical colored line down screen of 21 inch mac version 10.6.8

I have a thin line down screen, green at top and bottom and purple through middle.

    Hello,
    common enough problem.
Take a screen shot & view that in Preview, move the Preview window around, if you see 2 green lines it a Video card/VRAM problem, if the line does not move moving the pic around then it's the LCD or the internal cable.

  • My ipad has multi-colored lines on it how do i fix it?

My iPad Mini has mutli-colored lines across it how do i fix it? i tried turning it on n off i restored it but nothing will work

You can't fix it.  You need to make a reservation at the Genius Bar at the nearest Apple Store.   Use the link below to find one near you.  Before attending the reservation you should create a backup of the device.  You can use iTunes but ICloud should prove more convenient.

  • How to fix a white screen iphone 4s?

    Hello!
I've had a problem with my iphone for a while now. I dropped it at the beginning of November but it worked fine so I didn't change the screen yet. However it started turning off at around 30% now and I'm unable to turn it back on. I usually manage after about 20 minutes but it brings me a lot of stress. The screen goes white with thin lines going from the top to the bottom. It also shows water damage marks but that disappears when I manage to switch it back on. Restarting it doesn't really help much and I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't afford a new phone and this one is on contract. I know that if I go to apple they will want a lot of money for the repair. Please help me manage this somehow!

its possible that you damaged the internal hardware when it dropped. you can try a hard reset (hold the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time until it powers down) and if that doest work, you can try a restore in iTunes. But most likely, it is damaged and you might have to replace it.

  • White screen iPhone 3GS HELP!!

Hi, i restored my old iphone 3gs, and when it finished, i figured out the screen was totally white. it also gives me the error 29 whichi i think it is because of the baterry but with the original baterry, it still did the same (not error 29. the screen)
if i buy a 3GS battery, and restore again, will my screen go back to life? or is my screen damaged by some X reason?
    THAAAAANKKSS!!!

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, and 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

  • Thin vertical colored lines on screen

It started with one fine vertical green line on the screen about 4 months ago. Now there are 12 in various colors with more coming every week. What is causing this? Is there a fix?

Have you booted off the Install Disk by holding the *d key* down at boot-up, (not the c key), and run the extended Apple HW Test? Some Install disks require holding the Option key at bootup to select the AHT. Some Macs came with separate AHT CDs.

  • Wavy colored lines on screen - little like a photoshop selection effect

    Hi All,
This morning when I woke my 20" intem iMac from it's sleep, I was presented with a screen full of wavy "ie moving" curved lines moving around the screen. It looked a bit like a selection in an image editing program like photoshop. In all other respects the machine was working fine. Anyways, after mild panic and a few reboots, no dice, still wavy lines.
I did notice that the initial mac icon as it booted looked normal, then the wavy lines kicked in, so I had a little hope that it wasn't a hardware problem.
Long story short, resetting the PRAM (commandoption+PR) during reboot fixed it for me. Phew.
Just thought I'd post in case someone else runs into this problem.
    Cheers

Ah, yes, the usual reason not to give up a computer for repair. They might simply replace your display, leaving you with the rest of the unit and original hard drive in place. There may be no problem occur, but it's always wisest to be prepared for a repair failure and back up prior to giving up the machine. While the repair personnel might be interested (or not) in protecting your interests, I'd keep in mind that they're only human and do make errors.
I don't know what will happen next if you choose to do nothing. What if the problems escalate for you and you end up losing everything on the hard drive - are you backed up and prepared for that possibility? Not fair, I know, throwing the doomsday scenario at you, but .... your decision.
    Edit-
You might want to check the warranty language, as I imagine that Apple won't agree to be responsible for your data, even if they try to help you out in that respect during service.

  • Vertical colored lines on screen of macbook pro after dropping it! Please Help!

So my macbook pro was on my bed when I fell asleep and I must have pushed it off during the night. Anyway, I opened it this morning and now I have black and colored thing vertical and horizontal stripes on the screen and I don't know what to do! Please give me any help or advice you can, I am really worried about it!

    Best case scenario:
The LVDS connector was dislodged and will just need to be re-plugged.
    Worst case:
The drive array to the display has become delaminated and the display will have to be replaced.
Since it's a Retina, do you still have Apple Care?
Are there visible signs of damage? Warping? Dings?
"when I fell asleep and I must have pushed it off during the night."
So anything could have happened.  If I was your defense counsel I would say,  "My client was asleep and has no actual knowledge as to what occurred, Your Honor."
