Hi,
Yes, Both multiprovider and Multi cube are same.This is a virtual provider.
In BIW 3.5 we say it as Muticube (which you can create on cubes only)
In BI7.0 we say it as Mutiprovider(which can be created on combination of any infoproviders)
To create an Multiprovider click on the info area and in contextmenu you will find the option to create the Multiprovider

There is no change in creating info objects.
Cubes:
1. Right click the info area and chose create info cube.
2. Select the type of cube you wish to create and comnfirm your selections.
3. The next screen is where you actually define the cube.
4. Now you will notice the difference.
5. Place your cursur on key fig and right click and chose infio object direct input; chose your key fig for the cube.
6. Similarly for the dimension; right click the dimension and chose inbfo object direct input, chose your chars and out them in dimension.
7. Activate the cube.
Multi cube:
1. Right click the info area - chose create multi provider.
2. select the cubes , DSOs, info objects that you need for the multi provider.
3. On the right side of the screen, you will see all the objects that you selected and open the key fig and dimension and drag the ones you need to define the multi provider.
4. Identify the chars and key figs.
5. Acvitate the mullti provider.

No not possible.
You can include any DataStore object, InfoCube or InfoObject of type Characteristic with Master Data in a join. A join can contain objects of the same object type, or objects of different object types. You can include individual objects in a join as many times as you want. Join conditions (equal join condition) connect the objects in a join to one another . A join condition specifies the combination of individual object records included in the results set.

What are the fundamentals concepts to know about BEX Queries on Multi Cube?

Hi ALL,
i have executed a Bex Query on a Multi Cube (2 Cubes: SalesAnalysis, SalesAnalysisHistoric) but i havn't received the same data that we have in R/3, after i have executed the same query on just one cube (SalesAnalysis) and the result it was correct.
please can Somebody explain me the basic concept relation between the datatargets when i execute a query on a Multicube? how BW server try to find data and what is the criteria and the relation between the various caracteristics and key figures of the Multicube components? there some fundamentals join?
when i create i query on a Multicube and i choose a caracteristic or a key figure how can i know that caracteristic or key figure is from one cube or another cube?

Hi Bilal,
Multiprovider is not a join, it is actually a union of the data. So all the data of the base data targets used in the MP will combine subject to the settings made in identification and selection screens of the multiprovider. In the query designer, the source of the KF or char is transparent to you....you cannot make out until you open the MP in the edit mode.

For the multi-cube;
you can create a reports out of different infoprovider...let's say you have infocube for actual and another for plan...you can create a report to see actual and plan both...

Using Multi-cubes in an InfoSet

Here is my problem.
Using transaction RSA1, I have a multi-cube pointing to 3 identical cubes(one cube per year) I need to join the multi-cube to another cube with matching keys.
Looks like I should be looking at using an InfoSet but I do not see how to use a Mutli-cube in an Infoset.
I know I could add all cubes from my original Multi-cube directly to the InfoSet but this would result in a join and not a union of cubes.
Any suggestions?

Yes MP will be used in your case you want to have Union not infoset:

Union of the data in the MultiProvider:
200601 PLANT_1 VENDOR_A 0 70

As you see, the stock data are thoroughly assigned to the vendor code # (i.e. not assigned). That's expected, as the stock data (in InfoProvider 1) are not at the vendor granularity level. On the other hand, the order data have the vendor detail.
An InfoSet with the right join condition would present these data:
0CALMONTH //0PLANT //0VENDOR //STOCK//ORDER_QUANTITY
200601 PLANT_1 VENDOR_A 100 70
200602 PLANT_1 VENDOR_B 110 60

Hiding Variables in new Multi Cube

Hello Experts,
we will develop a new Multi Cube but with less fields but with the same Info Objects. Therefore I don't need all of the existing variables. Is there any possibility to hide the not required variables for the new Multi cube?

We have a MC with for example 100 Info Objects. Now we want to use just 60 of them in another MC but I don't want to use all the variables.
Example:
IO1 has 10 variables in MC1
IO2 should have 3 variables in the new MC2
Is this possible? If yes, how could I do this?

Reporting on Multi Cube

Hi Gurus,
This is my first message into the forum. I am new to BW reporting and I have a question. It may sound basic to experts like you, but any explanations would be greatly appreciated and I know here thank you means POINTS...
My question is ,
I create multi cube , based oit of two ODS's(DSO).
I have some fields which are common , like sales document number , plant etc
I have some fields which are unique to ODS's, for e.g I have a field Delivery Statusand Document Category which is only in ODS A.
Now, when I do a LISTCUBE on the Multicube I see 2 records for that sales doc number.
Records 1 has sales doc number and all the details that i chose with delivery status and document category fields being blank.
Record 2 has sals doc number and delivery status and document category fields polpulated with all the other fields blank.
I checked the Identification in Mullticube and I have checked both the ODS for common fields ,sales doc number and plant.
When I develop a query and run the report I don't get values for fields Delivery status and document category. I think its because the query is loking into the first record only and does not find the values for delivery status and document category.
How can I restrict this characteristics in the report to who me values for ODS A only? I read in the some post that we need to create a structure > new selection> add the characteristics( delivery status)--> add the characteristics source system( and restrict it byODS2.
This is not working, as far as my knowledge goes , we cannot create a restricted characteristics , am i correct ?
PLease do let me know...I shall be grateful and shall assign points...

Thanks for your response, but I am not sure how I can restrict a characteristics based no another characteristics..? Can you please let me know in detail as to how to do it.
I tried creating a struct--> new selection > sleect the characteristic i want to restrict> select the 0INFOPROV and restrict it toDSO A. IN doing that I don't get any characteristics values in the report for this selection.

Data load from DSO to Cube in BI7?

Hi All,
We just migrated a dataflow from 3.5 to 7 in development and moved to production. So till now in production, the dataloads happend using the infopackages.
a. Infopackage1 from datasource to ODS and
b. Infopackage2 from ODS to the CUBE.
Now after we transported the migrated dataflow to production, to load the same infoproviders I use
1. Infopackage to load PSA.
2. DTP1 to load from PSA to DSO.
3. DTP2 to load from DSO to CUBE.
step1 and step2 works fine but when I run the DTP2 it is getting terminated. But now when I tried the step b (above), it loads the CUBE fine using the infopackage. So I am unable to understand why the DTP failed and why the infopackage load is successful. In order to use the DTP do we need to do any cleanup when using it for first time? Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Please note that the DSO already has data loaded using infopackage. (Is this causing the problem?)

The transformation has been moved to production successfully.

Moving the object from one dimension to other in the cube in BI7.0

Hi Gurus,
I am new to BI7.0
We have a requirement wherein we need to move the object from one dimension to other dimension within same Infocube.I tried doing 'cut' and 'insert' from the context menu of the dimensions, but it didnt work.
Please let me know how do we do that..

How to cretae new dimension in an existing cube in BI7

HI BI Gurus
Could you please let me know that is it possible to add a new Dimension in a BI 7 infocube using the Remodelling tool . The cube name is 0TCT_C21 and the dim table is /BI0/D0TCT_C212 . I want to redefine the existing Dim table and want to remove the char
Process Instance (SID) (0TCTINSTSID) and want to create another new dim whic will be a line Item dim and will ad dthe char as Line item char . because the DIm/Fact ratio is 96% in the cube . The chars are in the existing dimension is BW System,Process Chain ID,Process Chain LOG ID,Process Type,Process Variant,Object Version .
Please let me know your view and also is it possible to chage the dimension and add new dimension ?

For your requirement , you will have to delete the data and make changes to the existing flow. But you should take care of all the issues that might come up with this changes.

Report on Virtual cube is not working.

I created a report on virtual cube, Virtual cube is based on Function module which will pick data from Multiprovider, In the FM mention the import parameter name as " Muli Provider" Name.
Multiprovider built on SPO object , On SPO object BIA is created, If can de activate the BIA on SPO then the report built on virtual cube is working in the portal. If I can activate the BIA the report is not working in the portal.
The report is working fine in RSRT and Analyzer either BIA is active and deactive.

The multi cube you created must be comprising of Info cubes, DSO and Info objects. Now this error which you are getting is it for
- a specific characteristics or
- any characterisitcs that is entered fourth in the series of filter selections or
- the fourth value in a specific characteristics
Is the characteristics and the value which you use in filter present in all the underlying objects included in the multi cube ? You can check it in each of the objects associated in the multi cube, independently. This will give you an idea as to whether the error reported by the system is genuine or not.

MultiProvider Created from #.5 cube and 7.0 Cube

I have one global cube created with update rules and transfer rules and everything, the way we create in BW 3.5 (Delivery)
I have another newly created cube using BI 7.0 (History Delivery data) with Transformation and the DTP.
I have created one Multiprovider combining this 2 cube. The 1st cube contains all the data for Delivery with Material, Plant, 0MAT_PLANT and Delivery quantity and dates and other things as per the requirement. This is a cube to be used going forward.
The 2nd cube contains only Delivery data from legacy system loaded in to this History cube from Flat file. This cube only has 0Material, 0Plant, 0MAT_plant, Delivery Qunatity and the requested date.
Now the Multiprovider has common chars and KFs from these 2 cubes.
When I run the query on this MultoProvider to see results of past 12 months (Requested Date) excluding current month with quantity. I get only the results from the 1st cube. I have created test query on both the cubes individually and I get results on both those queries but when it comes to MP it just gives from the 1st cube which is created in BW 3,5.
Now My questions are
1) Does it make any difference for MP if one of the cube is in 3,5 and other in 7.0 ??
2) If No then what else could be the problem. I have checked the Data both of them look identicle and correct as far as I think unless I have made some basic error??
Please help. Will provide points.

If you wish to see the data in the query that is stored in a particulat cube that form part of the multi, then you could.
Was I creating query the wrong way? I want to know the reason, It did work but I want to know the logic though.
No. it is wrong. But, if the query does not read data from more than one cube, but if you create it to run from multi cubes, then query response time may suffer.

How data update when there is two planning cubes in one aggregation level

If we have two planning cubes and a multi-cube includes these two planning cubes.
then we have the aggregation level defined based on this multi-cube.
if the characteristics and key figures defined in aggregation level all are included in these two planning cubes. When we plan the data with plan query based on this aggregation level, which plan cube will be updated with plan data, or both of them?

yes as Bindu said you need to restrict the layout based on the infoprovider.
Lets assume that we have a multi provider M1 and it has two planning cubes cube1 and cube1.
in case u develop a layout for updating cube 1 give the restriction in the filter section as infoprovider = cube1.
or the vice versa.
Else ur layout must input values for both the cubes simultaneously, then in that case create two restricted KF with each having a restriction for cube1 and cube 2.
so wen the user enters value for the first restricted KF it will get saved in cube1 and wen he enters value for the second restricted KF it will gets saved in cube2.
This is how it works. Guess this was useful to u.
