Multi Currency and Multi set of books with disco 3i

Hi all,
i've understood uit disco4i new feature pdf that disco4i has multiple schema awareness to support MRC and MSOB installations.
Does anyone know:
1. if MRC and MSOB is supported with disco 3i and how?
2. what precisely this multiple schema awareness is about?

As far as i know,
If you want different calendar then you should use Secondary Ledger [Not sure if it is available in 11i but this concept is there in R12]
If you only need multiple currencies to support your reporting requirements, use reporting currencies with a primary ledger
Your testing proves the same as well.

Hi Rae,
Can't think of many but few that comes to my mind spontaneously are:
1. When reading data such as texts, make sure you pass language key.
2. Translate each and every text (in scripts, smartforms, data element labels, documentations etc to all the language, use the same logon language in which you want to maintain and test.
3. Currencies should not be much of a problem but if you have to make a lot of calculations, make sure you do them with dimensional consistency, for examply JPY doesn't have decimals!

Does setting multi currency and fixed foreign currency make a difference ?

My customer deals in foreign currency say USD, where as local currency is INR.
Now I want to know that what all difference SBO will make if in one scenario I set the Inventory GLs currency as Multi currency and in second scenario I set the Inventory GLs currency as USD ?

Hi Samir,
in essence, an account/BP that is set up as multicurrency (MC) is local currency (LC) in disguise. All transactions are held in the application in LC, the display is merely informational according to the exchange rate defined for the posting date. The reconciliation currency is LC.
A foreign currency (FC) account/BP will only accept transactions in this FC. The LC equivalent is automatically calculated, but the reconciliation currency is FC. Exchange rate differences are used to adjust LC according to the rate at the execution date.
If you use a particular bank account for trading with a particular foreign country, the account currency & the BP currency should be set to a single FC. If a particular bank account is used to deal with various BPs using various currencies, that account should be set up as MC, yet we would recommend you set the BP as single FC.

Need suggestion on Multi currency and Unicode character set use in ABAP

Hi All,
Need suggestion. In one of the requirement I saw 'multi-currency and Unicode character set experience in FICO'.
Can you please elaborate me how ABAPers are invlolved in multi currency as I think this is FICO fuctional area.
And also what is Unicode character set exp.? Please give me some document of you have any.

Use the default parser.
By default, WebLogic Server is configured to use the default parser and transformer to parse and transform XML documents. The default parser and transformer are those included in the JDK 5.0.
The built-in WebLogic Server DOM factory implementation class is com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl.
The DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance method returns the built-in parser.

It's the button (key) that is labelled Control.
Each of the modifier keys and similar keys has its own symbol; this makes listing command keys easier to do. The Command key is usually the only key which has its symbol printed on the key. If you open Keyboard Viewer (in the Input menu, the one which displays the flag in the main menu bar), you can see what symbol refers to which key.

Reporting Set of Books with different calendar from primary SOB

Hi All,
We are in 11i multi Org.
Our primary SOB is with the calender 'JAN-DEC'.
We have a requirement to create a secondary set of books with a new calendar "APR-MAR" with the same chart of accounts and same functional currency for reporting purposes to our parent company.
I saw multiple documentation on MRC SOB, the calendar in MRC Reporting SOB must be same as Primary SOB.
But, in our case, the currency is same, but the calendar structure has to be different.
I tried to setup 2 new SOB in Test 1. with a different calender but same functional currency 2. same calender but different currency.
When I try to assign them to primary set of books through Assign Reporting Set of Books form, only the 2nd SOB ( same calender but different currency) showed up in the LOV for reporting set of Books.
Can some one shed some light on me to check if it's possible to do so and if yes, then how to setup a new reporting SOB with a different calendar than Primary SOB?

Change the Operating Unit and GL set of books on a responsiblity

Hi Every one
few of the responsibilities which were configured have a either a wrong of set of books or a wrong operating unit
For example a responsibilty which was suppose to have US Set of Books and US operating Unit has MX Set of Books and US Operating Unit
though in Multi Org setup MX set of Books is associated to MX operating Unit. Also vice versa happened on other responsibilities for example right set of books but wrong operating unit.
My question what is the impact of changing GL Set of Books, MO Profile Value to right one? we already have one year transactions on these responsibilities which are related Oracle Cost Management and Oracle inventory.

I am running into similar question - I am on R12 and am back tracking some origional set up issues
I want to change a opearing unit to report to a different GL ,I vcan change it in HR Organization profiles however If i post an entry via AP to GL it shows up in the (old ) GL

How to use two sets of books with one responsibility

Does anyone know if it is possible to run reports in the General Ledger business area of the Oracle EUL against two or more sets of books with the same responsibility? For example, I want a regional finance manager to be able to run a Discoverer GL report for both Bolivia and Peru using their South America GL Manager responsibility. It looks like you can do that for AR using HR security profiles but I'm not sure how to do it for GL. Thanks.

Hi,
There are two types of security: business areas security which allows a user to access the folders in a BA and is controlled through Discoverer; and data security which filters the data returned in the report. The data security is usually implemented as a condition in the views mapped in the EUL, though it can be implemented as mandatory conditions in the EUL. The data security is controlled by Application system profiles.
In your case you will have conditions in the database views which only returning data for the set of books defined in the profile for the current responsibility. To bypass this security so that a responsibility can report on multiple sets of books you need to create new folders in the EUL that map onto database view or tables that do not have the data security.

The iPod isn't tied to an Apple ID, but is likely tied to an iTunes library. If you want to set it up as a new iPod (as if you were just pulling it out of the box), restore it to factory settings in iTunes.

You actually don't need to make a flipbook yourself. There are paid and free, ready-to-use flipbooks in Flash or HTML5 available which you just need to configure and then put all images into a specific folder and the flipbook runs them.

Anyone successful going multi-national in 1 Set of Books

Has anyone out there successfully gone multi-national in 11i on 1 Set of Books? We are implementing finance modules, Order Management, Inventory, full Manufacturing modules, Shipping, Purchasing, APS...
So far have implemented a dozen US facilites and we're looking to implement facilities in several countries in Central and South America. No one in Oracle has been able to prove to us we can satisfy statutory reporting requirements in these countries using USD as functional currency.

I would echo the requirements around having multiple books if you are going to meet local requirements around statutory requirements.
Looking at Argentina / Brazil / Chile / Columbria they all require detailed transaction level reporting - diaro reports. These are included in globalizations which opearte at set of books level.
One client I worked for looked to keep the SOB in USD due to the rate of inflation. They use local systems for statutory requirements. I have also been ionvolved with looking at MRC as a use in hyperinflationay countries. In the standard GL revaluationa and translation average and period end rates are used. With MRC daily rates are used to produce the "shadow ledger" in USD.
In the common country features globalisations there is inflation adjustment functionality for Latin America - though I have never seen it used.
One of the biggest challenges is Brazil with it's multiple tax regime and this is outlined in the Brazillian Globalization manual.

Example

I need export TableA and TableB. TableA only record with 'fieldA' > 0 and TableB only record with 'fieldB' < 0. Is it possible?
I try exp command but I have problem with query parameter.

i think in normal exp you can not use multiple Query, you have to do it one by one
i.e
exp scott/tiger file=exp_tabel.dmp log=exp_tabel.log tables=emp query=\"WHERE sal \>4000\" statistics=nonewhile you can do it by using the expdp something like this
expdp scott/tiger directory=DATA_DD_DIR dumpfile=exp_tabel.dmp logfile=exp_tabel.log tables=emp,dept query=emp:\"WHERE sal > 4000\", dept:\"where deptno > 20\"What version of db you are using? better to use datapump

Setting up new macbook pro ,want to transfer music on existing Apple id and then set him up with a new one for future purchases ,can itunes play music from both accounts on one user account?

Title says it all really,son has until now used our itunes account,in future will want to build up own but wants obviously to have access to past musuc/books etc.I was thinking authorise new macbook with existing apple id ,transfer music ,then set up new id for future,if he wants to play old music he will have to log in under old account.
Also want to link to icloud but this will need to be the new id presumeably because you are not allowed to change the computer,does this mean it will only back up the stuff from new account?

I have tried the method of authorizing my computer and then initiating transfer purchases method yet my purchases were not transfered. I was told Apple can put your purchases in a certain place for you to retrieve them in your I-tunes account.
Is there any way you can help me with this problem?

Multi-touch and Multi-screen

I just saw the presentations of the PDC2008 (via the net since I couldn't make it to the PDC).
It's nice to see that we can add multi-touch functionality to a native, unmanaged application, just handling WM_TOUCH, similar to WM_MOUSE events at this moment.
However, with more and more people using multiple screens attached to their PC (especially our development department, were multiple screens are handy for debugging), how are the multiple screens going to work in combination with multi-touch.
I cannot drag my finger fluently from 1 screen to another without lifting my finger, so how is this going to work?
Anyone an idea?

Hi Patje.
From the OS perspective, while we are not prioritizing multi-touch capability across multiple monitors, there are some scenarios that should work just fine right now:
One multi-touch monitor and one regular monitorconfigured together.
Two multi-touch monitors (but not with simultaneous input)
Unfortunately, at this time you would need to use your mouse to drag from one monitor across to another. If you had two multi-touch monitors you could drag an object so that it straddles both monitors and then pick it up again on the other monitor. Unfortunately, there's just no way to bridge that physical space between the monitors in a fluid fashion at this time.
