Multi-Gesture Screen Freezes with IOS 8.1

Random screen freezes and crashes are still occurring on my iPad Air when using the Multi-Gestures feature, after installing IOS 8.1. This problem started with IOS 8.0, continued with IOS 8.02, and is still present in IOS 8.1. Apple, please fix this! Having to reboot multiple times a day is very annoying. Turning the Multi-Gesture feature off obviously stops the problem but is not a real solution. If a feature is present, it needs to work right.

HHe's. A simple visit to Settings, disabling and then immediately re-enabling the feature fixes the issue. But just for a while.
APPLE: Do you hear us? This should be a VERY easy issue to resolve. It's pervasive, well documented, and utterly annoying and frustrating. Please issue a fix ASAP.

Frequent screen freezes with os 10.8.3

I am experiencing frequent screen freezes with OS 10.8.3 on my 27" iMac, Late 2009. Sometimes while using Safari, sometimes while using Photoshop CS5.1, Sketchup 8, or other software. Rarely does it coincide with a processor intensive operation. I have not had this problem since my old white G5 iMac. Then it was aleading indicator that the CPU or power supply needed replacing (I went through 5 processors and 6 power supplies with that machine.) I took my current iMac in to the Apple Store and had it checked out. Hardware checked out fine, but the freezes are becoming more frequent. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

exactly what happened, the screen is locked on the plug sign, what can you do to unfreeze

Beatport problem -- screen freezes with some tracks...

It started happening since i downloaded Flash 10 --- the
screen freezes with a lot of tracks...when it's freezed, there's
nothin' else i can do with that page ( at least inside beatport ).
When i open another Beatport page, and go to the same track that
freezed before, it happens again... this is very bad, 'cause it
doesn't allow me to buy some excellent tracks... Does anyone know

As JustinC pointed out, it would be better you were running a more 'mature' OS (also CoreAudio is part of Quicktime so if you have updated QT and not the OS you could, possibly, be running an incompatible version of CoreAudio, i'm not too sure about that.)
But considering the symptoms you mentioned, and the fact you are running very few audio tracks, I'm assuming you run a lot of MIDI.
The symptoms you describe sound a lot like a MIDI feedback loop.
You don't have any sort of inter-app MIDI routing enabled, do you ?
If you do, you need to isolate the inter-app inputs from the sequencer input, or be very careful not to select tracks which are assigned to an inter-app port (or 'all' ports)
Oh, and update the OS anyway, there is no good reason to stick with 10.3.0

Ipad 3 freezes with IOS 7.0.4 intermittently -- this started with upgrade to IOS 7.0 and is getting worse I have 64 gb wifi

Ever since I upgraded to IOS 7 and with each update since currently at 7.0.4 my iPad freezes up and the home key will not work and the only way out is to do a hard reset (power + home key held for approx 20 sec) and then your get the apple logo and it then takes approx 1 min then your log screen come back. It will work for sometime then it will lock up again. Happens approx once a day. I am also using a clam case with keyboard. I had a zagg keyboard but it stopped working due to the bluetooth issue with IOS 7 and was not stable enough. The Clam case so far had not had a problem ....yet.... but my problem still happens even if I have the keyboard turn off and just use the screen. I have seen it freeze with browsers and other apps not just wallpaper changes like I have see on the web that others had.
I have tried everything, clearing our memory, only filling up 1/2 way with apps, keeping my apps up to date, not running to many apps at the same time...etc
Any one still having issues like mine? Any word if Apple is coming out with a more stable IOS ?

Hey rmacbeth, I'm sorry to hear about your iPad troubles. It seems like with every major iOS release, these issues come up on older models (the iPad 3 is relatively new though...weird)
Anyways, it sounds like you've tried everything already and nothing seems to be working. If you're sure that it's a software issue with iOS and has nothing to do with your physical home button, I'd recommend restoring your iPad to factory settings by doing the following:
1. Make a backup of your iPad (just connect it and select the backup option in iTunes)
2. Next, select factory restore. It'll ask you to back up your iPad here if you haven't already.
3. Try quickly setting it up as a new iPad.
4. Try to duplicate the issue with the freezing, just use it for a day and see if it happens at all
5. If everything seeems to be working, restore again except this time, do it from the backup you made earlier
6. Try again to see if the issue comes up by using it normally in a day
7. If it does happen again, take it in to the Apple store to get it looked at as there may be some underlying software issue that a factory restore can't resolve

How to prevent the multi gesture screen change

Is there a way to prevent the multi gesture app switching function. My daughter uses her new ipad for therapy but everytime i put on a app for her she figures out a way to switch it to something else. She is not able to see anything but light and she has her vision apps on there but its not use if she keeps switiching it to other things.

You can turn off multi-tasking gestures via Settings > General > Multitasking Gestures 'off'.

Screen freezes with LOGIC pro 7 & OSX 3.0.any ideas?

I have a G5 with dual processors and 1.5 ram/150gb HD. I am running Logic pro 7 on the original OSX 3.0 with a Motu 828mk2 firewire interface.
The screen freezes a lot (sometimes with audio still running) and the only way is to turn it off and reboot.
I am not working with lots of audio or plug ins (maybe one or two tracks at most).
I wondered whether its the OS? maybe i need Tiger?

My screen freeze with Time Machine

So I would like to go when Time Machine, and the screen freezes. I can click once on the window then everything is blocked. I do apple alt esc to return to the desktop.It was on an external disk (USB). I tried with another disc and the same thing. Thank you in advance for your answers.

Screen freeze with odd squares and occasional crashing

I've had my new IMac 27" (2.66 Ghz i5) for a couple of weeks and it's crashed more times than Windows Vista ever did (about 7 times so far). Every now and again, the screen freezes (sound keeps going) and strange squares appear. The only solution is to hard reboot using the on/off switch.
Today it had trouble starting up again, requiring 2 or 3 goes before coming back to life.
Help! Any suggestions/fixes? Is this a common problem?

Screen freezes with restart message

Every time I turn on my Macbook now, after about 5 minutes the screen freezes and a message appears saying I have to press restart/turn my Mac on and the off. The message appears in about 5 languages including German and what looks like Chinese. Anything I'm working on the time is thus lost.
About a month ago I had the hard disk replaced because of a failure and I thought this might cure the problem. However, it didn't and I still keep getting the same message. It's really annoying as it happens quite randomly and means I lose any work I'm working on at the time.
Any suggestions/ideas/solutions?

I'm having exactly the same issue after performing the latest Java update. I'll try rebooting with the installation disk to see if there are any changes. I also had to replace my hard drive disk recently at the Apple store. If nothing changes, I'm calling Apple Care in the morning and will report back.

Imac G5 - screen freezes with patterned screen

Yesterday my Imac G5 suddenly had the whole screen covered with patterns which in turn froze
the machine up.
Tried using the hardware test (both quick & extended) found nothing wrong.
Tried resetting the Pram & Nvram - made no difference
Tried resetting the SMU - made no difference
Ran Disk Utility to repair permissions - all OK
Used DiskWarrior and no problems found.
Powered off and left it all night and restarted this morning all systems appeared OK
This evening this problem returned and had to power off again which is where I am now.
I have looked thru these forums and found reference to faulty capacitors about bulging, leaking etc
and removed the back but could not see any faults
Any one have any clues as to what the problem is?
I would appreciate some help here please

Nobody knows when Apple releases new models, but I think that they usually come out in the spring.
Or sometimes in the fall. In other words, there is no set time.
Try calling http://www.synaptech.com/catalog/ as I suggested, they replace logic boards very reasonably.

Application screen freezes with gestures?

I am really enjoying Lion. The multiple desktops, mission control and the gestures to 'easily' navigate between all desktops, apps, etc. Really like it. All my apps seem to be working just fine. No system crashes.
*I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this - if not please advise. Also, I will do my best to describe the issue, so please excuse inproper language or terminology.
Issue:
I notice that occasionally when I am working in one application, say Mail; then I use the 'three fingers swipe up' gesture to activate Mission control to select a different open app, say Safari - when Safari is brought to the main screen, sometimes the cursur is stuck as the 'select' cursur (little hand). I find also that the particular window that is brought to the front, or main screen, that navigation doesn't work (scrolling, selecting, etc.) I typically have to switch to another application and come back to get the previously tried page/screen to work correctly or sometime close the affected app and relaunch.
This happens more frequently when switching back and forth between OSX and VMware Fusion (I have Fusion set up on Desktop 2)
Is there a better place to bring this to Apple's attention?
