Multi-level photos sub-folders?

It seems that I can only have 1 level of folders for photos. Is there a way (or an app) to allow multi hiearchy folders of photos?

you can't have subfolders within subfolders.

  • Help needed on multi-level photo folders on iPhone

In trying to figure out how to create sub-folders for photographs on an iPhone, the bottom line seems to be that it's not possible.  You can synce to ONE folder on a PC, and that folder can contain many folders, which will appear on the iPhone, but you can't have sub-sub folders - you can only have two levels, the main folder, and a set of nested folders within it.
I've read in three or four places that multi-level folders are possible is you use either of two programs, "Aperture" or "Photoshop Elements".
Question #1 - is this true?  Will they allow me to create sub-folders on my iPhone?
Question #2 - is there a web page that explains how this is done?
I've given up on doing this on my own, as it just doesn't work, but maybe there's something else that I allows this to work if you buy one of those two programs?

Surendra , an ODS should have a Key field and not necessarily a Key figure however to create a cube / multiprovider , it is a must that you have a key fiugure , which leads me to ask the following questions:
    1. Why do you need a multiprovider on an ODS with no facts(key figure)?
    2. Why not an Infoset?
If this is for experimentation alone , trhe answer is clear,
A multiprovider cannot be created without a key figure , this goes against the very concepts of Data Warehousing and think if your architecture is correct and why you need a multiprovider and a multiprovider alone will satisfy your requirements.

  • I Photo sub folders

Im new to mac and come from Window XP. When I was using Windows under pic you could have a folder an then sub folders. Can this be done with I Photo? Can someone tell me the difference between an Event and a Album. Im sorry for the dumb question but if I new the answer I wouldn't ask.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Here's a screenshot of what can be done with folders and albums in iPhoto.
Folders can contain other folders, albums, books, slideshows, etc. Albums can hold only photos.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Syncing photos with sub folders

    Hi
Is there any way to sync my photo exactly like them on my pc?
i have a photo folder and many sub folders , each sub folder contains more sub folders
and on my iphone my sub folders merge and they all displayed in one folder

I also have the same problem.
With itunes on windows and an Iphone 3g, I can only sync the first level, so all subdirectory folders appear in the top one.
This means that for example my holidays snaps are all together, which is a real pain to find anything.
I know that using a Mac with iphoto I can do this, but I dont have a Mac.
I have also tried using Photoshop elements 7 and 8 but it only allows the transfer of everything (obviously I want to sync just the ones I want - to save space).
A faq I found said that photoshop elements and album work, but only a very early release of these. Otherwise you get everything.
    thoughts or suggestions?
Will apple ever provide iphoto or support a windows tool such as the latest elements 8 or picasa 3.5
    Regards
    Joe

  • Syncing Photos Loses Sub-Folders

I am becoming very frustrated with Apple. I have been trying for some time to sync photos on my PC to my iPad3.  Regardless of what I try, the iPad ends up with the photos in sub-folders  being bundled up in the first level folders.  For example: if I have 24 folders, each with sub-folders holding photos, I end up with 24 folders holding all of my 6600 photos, with no sub-folders.  Where is the logic in this??
To date I have bought 3 third-party apps which claim to be able to help, but they are either useless or make it difficult to view photos in a sensible way.

That is how the Photos app currently works, it doesn't support sub-folders/albums, it only works to the one level - any photos that you have in sub-folders will be synced over to the parent folder's album. You can try leaving feedback for Apple via this page and maybe in a future iOS update it will change : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Importing existing folders and sub folders of photos into photoshop organiser 9

I have over 10,000 photos nicely organised in folders and sub folders in Bridge CS3 and want to migrate over to photoshop elements and use their organiser so I have everything in one place. However, when I try to import the photos, it brings them in as individual photos and not in their folders. It seems like I need to recreate a load of albums and then drag and drop the photos into them. I don't have time to recreate hundreds of album names to replicate my system as it is. Is there any way round this or should I be looking at a different system altogether?
Thank you for any advice on this.

... should I be looking at a different system altogether?
If your entire organizational goals are to continue to use your "nicely organised" folders, then why bother with the PSE Organizer in the first place? You have extra work (must import the photos) and more limitations (must do all photo management inside of the PSE Organizer), and its hard to see any benefit from using the PSE Organizer. You won't achieve any "better organization" than what you have now.
If your goals are to use PSE tools to organize (tags, captions notes), in addition to (or as a replacement for) your folder organization, then the PSE Organizer can be very useful.

  • Photos Out of Sequence in Sub-Folders in iPad Photos App

I use my iPad when working with ballplayers. Specifically, I use the Photos app with sub-folders for each set of photos. I have tens of thousands of photos in a hundred or so folders. It's very important that the photo albums be in numerical order (the photos are all named numerically).
This used to work just fine, but now I am finding that, in more and more cases, photos are out of sequence.
I upgraded my iPad specifically for this function, and it's making me look unprofessional and is forcing me to have to explain around the glitches.
Is there any way to control how the Photos app sorts photos and ensure that photos are sorted by the file name and number?
This bug is on the verge of turning a valuable tool into little more than a toy.
P.S. The issue may be related to folders that have a larger number (e.g. 100-200+) of photos in each folder.

Everyone please report this to Apple; you can do so here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Right now, there's no dropdown selection for iOS 8, but I selected "iOS 7.1.2" and wrote this in the comments after describing the issue: "I am using iOS 8, but there's not dropdown selection for iOS 8 on the following question, so I picked iOS 7.1.2.."  Also, for me, the Submit button wasn't there, but it is located to the right of where it says, "Please read Apple’s Unsolicited Idea Submission Policybefore you send us your feedback."
Hopefully the more people that report this, the more quickly they will fix this.

  • File (photo) management.  Need to create folders and sub-folders

    1. How do I manage thousands of photos when I can't create sub-folders under folders?
    2. How do I rename photos once they have been downloaded to Ipad?
    3. How do I download all my photos on Idisk to the Ipad?
Is there an App to help with this? I am stunned this expensive device doesn't seem to have basic file management capabilities.
Thank you for any direction you can provide.

There a a few apps that will help with this (I have yet to try them).
->Sort Shots looks like it may be what you are looking for.
    Google "iPad photo apps".

  • Getting Photo Stream to access sub-folders

Is there a way to get iCloud/Photo Steam to recognize subfolders under the "Upload" folder?  I don't just dump photos under the upload folder, I import photos by date taken and they get their own folder based on date.  If i need to the "Upload" folder to be for a specific date then that really limits the amount of photos I will have access to via iCloud.  Please help if you can.
    Thanks,

Did you ever solve this issue with sub-folders?  I am trying to make it work, seems like it just doesn't which is an unfortunate limitation for incorporating a PC into the eco-system.

  • Apple tv 2.2 wont sync sub-folders of photos

Since I've updated the atv to 2.2, my photos that are organized into sub-folders within a folder won't sync.
i like to keep my photos out of iPhoto, nicely organized into one Photos folder with one subfolder for each album. Till 2.1, i could goto iTunes -> Apple TV -> Photos tab, select the main Photos folder there and all the subfolders containing photos would show up. I could select all and the subfolders would sync to Apple TV. With 2.2 , this doesn't happen. I have all the options in iTunes but when i sync, it just shows Syncing and nothing happens. If i select one of the subfolders directly that contains photos, it syncs. That means 2.2 won't sync from sub-folders!! for me, it renders the device useless !
Is there a way to revert back to 2.1 ?

I am also having the same problem. My original Apple TV was version 1. The earlier version of this ATV and Itunes was able to sync photos in nested or sub folders direct from the hard drive and not using any photo program. I upgraded to 2.2 and kept the old files on my ATV and did not sync to Itunes for a long time but when I decided to sync all of my nested photo folders on the ATV were deleted and I could not re sync. I spoke to apple care support today and was advised the programming was not set up to read from sub folders. However Itunes and the apple TV directions say otherwise. I suggested to Apple they consider fixing the programming to follow what Itunes and the ATV manuals say. This is a very desired feature to have.

  • The last few times I imported photos, the backup location was set to "documents" with no sub-folders. How do I get them into sub-folders - like year and month?

the last few times I imported photos, the backup location was set to "documents" with no sub-folders. How do I get them into sub-folders - like year and month?

Use the Subfolder pulldown to set the subfolders:

  • When importing photos it always creates sub folders.  I do NOT want that.

How do I stop it from creating sub folders every time I import photos?

Have a look at thei video on importing: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/getting-started-with-adobe-photoshop-lightroom-5/lightroom-5-imp orting-your-images/

  • Organizing photos into folders on iPad

Forgive me if this has been asked a lot.  I looked and could not find it but is there A way to put photos together in folders on the iPad and not through iPhoto on your computer? I downloaded iPhoto and thought that I could do it on there. Sorry if this is answered or simple.  Thanks!

You can select and sync multiple folders from your computer to the iPad, and each folder will get it's own album on the iPad. You will need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad, and only the 'top' level of folder get albums i.e. sub-folders will be included in the parent's album.

  • Sub-folders of images under a master folder have disappeared

The folders are under a master folder, and another sub-folder (at the same level) has remained. I have already processed the files and exported JPGs, which also used to be there but now are not. I have not moved anything or had a crash. I am on a WinXP machine and can see all the sub-folders and images in Windows Explorer. If I go back to LR to re-import them, they show up but are grayed out, so cannot be re-imported. Why would this happen and what can I do? I need to export some of these for client use.
    Thanks
    Andy

I don't know what exactly caused this, but your photos were imported into Lightroom and remain imported into Lightroom (because you can't import them), just not in the folder where you think they should be. (My guess is that you made a mistake on import)
So, you need to find one of the photos in Lightroom (search by file name in the filter bar), and then locate which folder it is now in by right-clicking on the photo and select Show Folder in Library.
Now you know where this photo is located (and presumably all the other photos in that folder are the ones that are supposed to be in the same folder as the one you found), you can either leave them there, or update the folder location back to the original location (see Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders, scroll down to Updating Folder Location)
