Multi-Pass on Apple TV

The main reason I bought ATV is to watch Colbert. You can buy a 16 episode Multi-Pass in iTunes but not on ATV. So, I bought it on iTunes thinking that once it synced, ATV would know I owned the next 15 episodes and begin downloading future episodes itself without needing to sync to my MacBook. Guess not. It's a drag because I was hoping that when I come home from work late at night the show (and others) would be loaded up already. Now I have to take out my MacBook and download the full episode (which takes a while) before I can watch it on TV. Anybody know a way around this? It seems very un-Apple-like to set this up so confusing and inconsistent.

Yes. Download by going to the iTunes store - purchased (under quick links)

  • Apple TV setting not allowing for Multi-pass

Can someone tell me why I cannot select Multi-pass in the Inspector when trying to output to the Apple TV device? I can choose it with the iPod settings, but loose it as soon as I change to the Apple TV.

I believe it's by design - the folks at Apple probably think that, with the higher data rate allowances of tv, folks wouldn't need multi-pass since you're not crunching the video down so much.
That's only my theory, and if it's true, it's valid up to a point, but it would still be nice to have the multi-pass option.
Are you not getting good results with your tv encodes?

  • The Daily Show Multi-Pass: how does this work?

I subscribed to the Daily Show Multi-Pass. The store said it was busy and try again later. So I thought I'd do it later but meanwhile got an email saying I had the multi-pass and 9.99 has been deducted from my account!
The email has a link to view account preferences. It says that 2 of the 16 episodes have been downloaded - nothing has been downloaded (and only one show is currently available).
According to the email: "You will receive an email when future episodes of The Daily Show are available and the episodes will be downloaded automatically to the account listed above the next time you sign in to iTunes." What? When is that?
It would be great if this worked with RSS like podcasts instead of some mysterious download time.
    Is this working for anyone?

Okay here's what you have to do: Go to the Music
Store, and click the button with your e-mail address
at the top right (below "browse"). Then click "Sign
out" in the popup. Then click where your e-mail
address used to be to sign in again. Your episode
    will start downloading.
This is a stupid way for Apple to do it, but at least
it technically works so until they make it easier
this is what we're going to have to do every day.
    Argh!
Hmmm...when I did the above, it ran through the "Checking for purchases" before starting the download. So I wonder if doing the "Check for purchases..." selection under the Advanced menu would do the same thing without the hassle of logging out and in. I'll give it a try tomorrow...

  • Multi-Pass question

    Hi,
I have a multi-pass for the Colbert Report. Today, I did not receive an email that the Monday show was ready for downloading. Should I assume that there was a repeat for this day? Is there anyway I can confirm this with Apple? I do not have access to any TV to know what is current or not.
    Thanks,

The time it takes them to post these shows is unacceptably erratic. Sometimes 4-6 hours after it airs, other times nearly 48 hours after it airs. The Daily Show and Colbert Report and both highly topical, so it ***** they wait this long to make them available. I got an e-mail from iTunes Support saying basically that the problem occurs upstream from Apple -- they have to wait for Comedy Central or whoever to pass it along to them. This may be true, but Apple needs to lean harder to make this a worthwhile subscription.

  • Multi-pass tv shows

Anyone know how long it takes for episodes to become available for download? Im still waiting for a show that aired Monday 9/24/07. I have a multi-pass for a soap.

It depends totally on how quickly the network provides the show to Apple. Often that happens within 24 hours, but it has in some cases taken several days.

  • When & How do I get new Multi-Pass episodes?

So I bought a Multi-Pass of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart this evening. A new episode broadcasted an hour ago. I'm wondering how this whole multi-pass thing works regarding when and how I get new episodes. I was hoping/wishing the new episode would automatically download at broadcast time (the show is obviously shot earlier in the day), but such is not the case. So, how does it work? Will it show up sometime tonight? Sometime tomorrow? A week from now? And will I have to go manually download it, or will iTunes automatically detect and download it upon availability? Thanks!
    20 2Ghz G5 iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

When I got up this morning, I checked the Video tab of iTunes to see if a new Daily Show episode was in there. Nothing. So I went to the store to see if a second one had been added, and it had. So then I did the same as sshoop did, and chose the "Check for Purchases..." option under the iTunes Advanced menu, and it downloaded the new episode.
Later today, I saw that Apple had sent me an e-mail which read as follows:
"The latest episode of The Daily Show is now available for you to download. Simply sign in to iTunes and it will begin downloading immediately.
    1. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart 3/08/06
To stop receiving email notification of new episodes, click here to edit your Account preferences.
    Warm regards,
    iTunes Store Team"
    They think so, huh?

  • Want to stop downloading multi pass

I purchased a multi-pass (16 episodes) of The Daily Show for $9.99. After the initial 16 episodes downloaded, more episodes kept coming. How do I make this stop?

  • Multi-pass not downloading

I purchased the multi-pass for The Daily Show. I was able to download the 3/20/06 episode fine (there was a problem with the file, but the download went fine). However, the 3/21/06 episode has been on iTunes for over 12 hours now, but everytime I check for purchases I get a message saying "All purchased music has been downloaded for this account." Does anyone know if this is related to the problems with episode 3/20/06, or possibly due to some other known problem?

They are working on it now. Check out this thread for more info.

  • How do I turn off Multi-Pass?

I am having a big problem with the iTunes Store.  I purchased the Jon Stewart Show on iTunes back in September, I believe.  I only wanted to purchase one "set" of shows, but somehow I've been signed up for an auto-renewal.  We ended up purchasing Hulu Plus, and were able to get the Jon Stewart Show on Hulu, so I didn't need the other subscription.  However, it keeps charging me, and there is NO WAY to stop the downloads nor to request a refund.
I did finally find the auto-renewal buried in the "Passes" section, which is NOT intuitive.  However, I can't find a way to request a refund.  I tried the "Report a Problem" button on the bottom, but it just kicks you back to the iTunes Support page on the website.  It does NOT let you do much of anything after that.

Also, Apple Support (Express Lane) told me to go to my Account Info page, then go to Subscriptions to turn off Auto-Renewal.  The only thing listed on mine was the Hulu Plus.  I couldn't find the option to turn off the Daily Show, and had no idea it was called a "Multi-Pass."  Even so, that didn't trigger me to look under the "Passes" section of My Account...because I had no idea that's what it was called.

  • TS3297 Multi-Pass gives a message that there is insufficient storage, and won't allow me to purchase a multi-pass, but there is 45GB of space available? How to fix this?

Trying to purchase a Multi-pass triggers a message that "their is insufficient memory" however there is MORE than 45GB of storage available. I can purchase individual shows but trying to buy a multi-pass always triggers this lack of memory message.

  • Multi-Pass or Season Pass?

How do I know which one I purchased? My Purchase History does not indicate one way or the other. I thought I had paid for a "season pass" for Battlestar Gallatica season 3 (in fact my purchase history shows a $42.42 charge for Battlestar Gallatica season 3 but doesn't elaborate). Today I got an e-mail saying that my "multi-pass" couldn't be renewed (which is not a surprise as I've changed banks recently) but why would it need to be renewed? I thought I had a season pass. Besides that issue, the season is over now and I've downloaded all the episodes, why would Apple need to charge me for any more? Also, it's interesting that I was charged (a total including tax) of $42.42 when the current "season pass" is only $34.99 (which would be $38.09 with tax) in the first place... It would seem to me that Apple should be refunding me $4...
    -Doug

OK - Just trying to clarify things here.
    1) There is not a MultiPass option for shows like BattleStar Galaactica (Great show BTW). You can only purchase the Season Pass.
    2) I got an email from iTunes giving me free video credits since the Season was shorter than was originally predicted. I found the email and here's an the jist of it:
"Thank you for purchasing the Season Pass for Battlestar Galactica - Season 3. Due to a change in the number of episodes the network plans to air, the Season Pass price for Battlestar Galactica - Season 3 has been reduced.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your Season Pass purchase, so please accept this free video code, good for any five $1.99 TV show episodes or music videos on the US iTunes Store."
    3) So the MultiPass email you received was for a different show or a glitch in the system (maybe caused by the shorten season?). Did the email specifically mention "Battlestar?" Anyway, since it didn't renew, you weren't charged for anything.

  • On TV Shows, what does "Buy Multi-Pass" mean?

I just bought "$9.99 Buy Multi-Pass" for a TV show. The store then downloaded 1 episode. There are eight available. iTunes store says I have NO downloads available. What did I buy for $9.99? One episode which normally costs $1.99? I can find NO explanation for "Buy Multi-Pass" anywhere on iTunes or Apple's web site.
I just need a simple explanation.
    Thanks

I have found a partial answer. By scrolling through "iTunes A to Z" which I found while clicking around on the iTunes tab on the Apple site (NOT by ANY search, NO search I performed resulted in any information whatsoever for "multi-pass".
Here is what it says about "Multi-Pass" which can be found way down several pages under the heading "Purchasing TV Shows:
    Season Pass and Multi-Pass
A Season Pass gets you a whole season of a TV show, past or present, at a discount. And Multi-Passes for shows that air every day, like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, mean you can enjoy a month’s worth of episodes downloaded automatically to your computer.1
It's shortcoming is that it doesn't explain when "a month's worth of episodes" starts ans ends. So, my new question is: Do I get all the shows starting the 18th of October through the 17th of November or do I just get through the end of October?
roaminggnome: Thanks! You helped me in that you encouraged me to dig a little deeper even though searching in the support box didn't yeild any useful results.

  • Multi pass bursting of a Crystal report on business view with a bex query

In BO CMC, we have a group with a list of user.
The idea is to burst (via the multi pass bursting method) a Crystal report for this list of user with the constraint that this report should only contains data of the store linked to the user.
Our data comes from a SAP BI cube.
The link between a Store and a User comes from an other system.
We have build a bex query and use it as a data source of a Crystal Data Foundation.
In this Data Foundation we have an other table storing the user ID and the Store ID.
These 2 tables are linked in this Data Foundation on the Store ID.
Business element and Business View have also been created on top of this Data Foundation.
We have impletemented a filter in this Data Foundation to filter out data on the user id. This user id will be filled when bursting the report for all requested users thanks to this function :.
As a user is linked to one store, the data foundation will filter the data coming from the bex query and show only the data of the user's store.
We have build a crystal report using the business view created above as data source. We have made some test on a small amount of data and it works, data are correctly filter out and the reports shows only the data from one store.
But the problem is that we have a lot of stores (more than 600) and doing this way implies that the bex query will always return the data for all the stores as the filter will occurs in the data foundation and not on the bex query.
We need to find a way to make the bex query returning only the data of the store linked to the user for which we burst the report.
As we have more than 600 stores this was an idea to avoid managing more than 600 under BO groups or more than 600 different filters.
This solution do not work when the bex query result set is too large.
Does anyone has an idea on how to implement such "dynamic" filter in the bex query? The parameter is the user ID but the filter to be applied on the bex query is on the store ID.
We are under BO XI release 2, Crystal XI Release 2 and we have installed the BO release 2 integration kit for SAP
