Multi-PDF to PSD

I have been searching for an hour and can not find an anwer to this.
My understanding is ther was an automated task that would open and save a multi-page pdf into photoshop documents.
This is not an option in CS3. Did they move it or rename it?
What I'm trying to accomplish is...
our rip on our color machine can not handle the transparancies or drop shadows in the pdf.
Get those stupid boxes around everthing.
So the only way we have determined to get around this is to open in photoshop so it's completely flat.
Then save, place into InDesign and rip from there.
If anyone knows a better way please enlighten me.

Rightfully so, Photoshop was not designed for this. It is very odd that you are saying 'it might be the only solution' when another, better solution has already been presented to you. You may want to ask for help from someone else at your business if this information does not make sense.
Acrobat can save out individual TIFF files for each page of a PDF file.
Or you can very easily solve the problem as Buko noted with a PDF profile that does not have transparency effects.
Looking to the Photoshop forum is as useful as looking to a forum about bass fishing to solve this transparency issue.

Scanned drawing from pdf to PSD

I have a scan of a drawing that I need to get into photoshop but the scan goes onto page 2 of a pdf file. How can I edit the two scanned pages to end up with the drawing on one page in psd file?

It is actually a single file, but goes onto a second page. When I bring it into PS, I am getting page 1 of 2.

Photoshop PDF vs PSD vs Tiff

I'm a little confused with all these different formats. Is there a difference between a layered PDF, a PSD, or layered tiff? When I import into Indesign, I normally use PSD to preserve the transparecny of the background. But when I have vector info in the Photoshop doc, I save as a Photoshop PDF and unlink layers to make the file smaller. But should I be saving the layers and then just getting rid of the original PSD?

yes. using get info on the file change the pdf to open in Photoshop

not for me. it does create a much bigger file as it has to retain so much data I much prefer PSD or Tiff. unless you have vector objects in all your photoshop files there is no point. If you are placing the files in ID why not set the type in ID it is much more practical.

ImageIO (support .pdf and .psd)

Hi All -
Does anyone know if the ImageIO class will support taking an Image and writing it out to a file that is either a .pdf or .psd file? I have seen that it is possible to write out .jpgs...
If the ImageIO class does not support this, does anyone know of any sample code or third party products that can do this?

I've seen this happen when an API client attempts to close a document that doesn't exist, which defaults to closing the FrameMaker session, but the session cannot close because it's in the middle of some operation. It's normally the result of sloppy code. Do you have any third-party API plugin software running? For that matter, does anyone know if the "Save as PDF" uses an API client? If so, might be a bug in that software, although it seems that there must be something unique going on here to invoke this behavior in your case.

Photoshop save as default is PDF not PSD anymore. How can I get the default back to PSD?

Since a few weeks ago photoshop insists on saving all my files as a PDF. New images, ols images even original PSD files.

Ctrl/Cmd click your preferred option in the Save As pull down list. Photoshop will default to that format from that point

Trying to combine multi PDF docs into one, but losing a barcode overlay at the bottom of the page.

I'm attempting to put approximately 100 PDF documents (various page lengths) together to create one, however when I use the typical method, File>Create PDF>Multiple Files then combine them I lose the barcode at the bottom of the page. I believe the barcode is seen by Adobe as an overlay, but I could be mistaken. I'm not sure if there is some options I could be changing to make this work. My other alternative is to use the insert...but this would be very time consuming. I'm looking to have more of these in the future so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

How do i create high res pdf from psd file?

I've been searching endlessly for this answer however I cant get the answer. My commercial printer is requesting a high resolution pdf file, and i created my artwork in photoshop 2. Can anyone tell me how to create a high res pdf with this file? Someone told me I need to purchase acrobat 9, however from research I've conducted there are no tutorials to achieve this either, and $500 is a little steep for a waste of time

What do you mean by "Photoshop 2"? Are you referring to Photoshop CS2?
If Photoshop CS2, then you have been given the proper instructions.
If the option shown is unavailable to you, then your Photoshop installation is scrogged. Reinstall it.

I have been getting really crummy looking graphics while editing in ID CS6.
I set display preferences to High Quality but no improvement.
Based on comments here in forums, I went to View menu in document and set High Quality there also, and got some improvement.
ID CS6 shows a decent quality graphics (a .png screenshot from my Mac) but only when I export it as .pdf.
I'm doing most of my editing on a MacBook Pro 13" (I move from location to location and it's the only machine with CS6 on it at the moment).
I hazard a guess that ID looks at my graphics card and screen resolution and decides that I only need a crummy or semi-crummy display.
Are there some additional hidden settings for image display quality?
Again, I stress that the document itself really has better image quality than what is apparent while editing, but it's highly annoying to see a scruffy looking graphic while editing.

Merging .psd's and .pdf's into single pdf, only showing 1st page of pdfs :(

I am merging .psd's and multi-page pdf's into a single pdf. When I import the other .pdfs and then save, it is only saving the first page. How can I fix this? I very much appreciate the help.

To my knowledge you can't use Bridge for merging multi PDF files to one. You
can do so in Acrobat Pro. Also Apple Preview has limited options to merge
PDF, I believe you can merge a multi page PDF to a single page one with Drag
and option key pressed.
You should first create also PDF sheets for the PSD files. Remember that
huge file size creates also huge PDF files.

PS cs3 doesn't save files as JPG or others except PSD or PDF!!!

I think you may have been mis-remembering Jennifer, unless you save for web, in which case it gets converted to 8-bit.
As Freeagent said, check the colour mode settings.

Illustrator extention export PDF file as PSD worked on Windows XP but not on Windows 7

We have a extension that convert files to CMYK PSD with color profile attached. It worked fine (for most of files) on Windows XP but not on Windows 7.

above code never throw any exception on Windows7, but just no file been saved. It only happened to convert PDF to PSD.
If I manually open file in Illustrator (win7) and export it as PSD, I got ‘not enough memory’ error. I googled a solution make the manual exporting worked but still the extension didn’t work.
The solution for manual operation is set ‘additional plug-in folder’ for preferences-> plug-ins& Scratch disks’.
Any advice?

I apologize for not having an answer. I just wanted to chime in and say that I am having the exact same issue. I have never had this before. It's happened ever since I had my hard drive replaced and Illustrator has been reinstalled, so I am assuming that it's a preference somewhere that I have missed?
