Multi region support

Hi installed the DVD reader all ok but want to make it multi region understand this can be done via an update?
Any ideas where I can get this?

Too bad, the macbook cannot be flashed... the drive is new and no one tried flashing it before. (says the internet!) And why would that be Illegal? I legally bought my dvd's, so I should be able to play them. What do I have a computer for?!
On my windows computer I have a program that lets me play dvd's from different regions, in every player (powerdvd, actualplayer, mediaplayer, ... you get the idea) I don't see why that wouldn't be possible on a mac.

There are very few (if any) TVs that support both ATSC (US digital) and DVB-T (European digital).
If you use it with an external tuner (cable box, DVR, etc), then there are no compatibility problems if it's a high definition tuner with HDMI outputs - PAL and NTSC only apply to standard definition interlaced analog formats.  For high def formats with digital connections (such as carried by HDMI), there are no regional differences.

  • Multi-language support for user-specified text strings used in the forms

multi-language support for user-specified text strings used in the forms
Instead of creating multiple forms, 1 in each different language, for the same service, is there any workaround?

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. For the two langugages, such as Spanish/English, you can create a single catalog with both of them. Once you get to more than two languages, the catalog would get unweildy and is therefore not suggested.

  • Win 8.1. Core language and multi-language support.

    HI,
I've used a US developed program with multi-language support for years in Win XT and Win 7. As the program now supports win 8.1. I've upgraded to 8.1. and the new release of the program. However it will not work properly and the reason given is
that my version of 8.1. has a different core language compared with what  the program uses and this version is not multi-language supported. Now I wonder if there are various versions of  the core language in 8.1. or is the core
language unique, supported by various language packets for menu's, guiding texts, etc.  Why do I then need a multi-language supported program? Where can I put this question?
    Regards

    I'd probably try them here.

  • Will a multi-region (Region 0) PAL DVD play on my MBP?

I have a 2009 unibody MBP (15", 2.66GHz model). Purchased in the USA, located in the USA.
The MBP has a Matsushita DVD-R drive, model UJ-868, rev KB19. System Profiler does not show any region code for the drive, and I do not recall ever having to enter a preferred region code. It plays NTSC DVDs just fine.
Will it play a PAL DVD, coded as multi-region (Region 0)?
Any tips on how I could verify this (that is, without purchasing a PAL DVD just to find out)?

There is no real 'Region 0' - Region 0 is not an official setting; discs that bear the region 0 symbol either have no flag set or have region 1–6 flags set.
So, yes, it should play (either NTCS or PAL).

  • Multi-master support

I have a LDAP server that want to sync entries to an AD. Can I config the a multi-master for the LDAP ?

Hi, the current Meta-Directory product looks at just one changelog (the RetroChangeLog for Sun ONE Directory v5.x) and as such true and full Multi-Master support with Meta is not possible at this time. However, the engineering team are in the process of documenting what cohabitation is possible when Meta is used against just one of the two Directory masters. This white paper will be available in a few weeks time, if you email me or contact your Sun ONE account manager this information will be provided to you.

  • Multi-Lang support and slides issue

First, is anyone here using slides-based Flash documents at
all? Whenever I post my (IMHO well-researched) questions/reports,
like the one linked to below, I never get an answer. By now I'm
ready to give up completely on slide-based documents and ready to
convert it all to "flat" Flash docs, but I'm just curious why the
numerous horrible bugs in slides get no response, did everyone else
but me know not to use them???
(older problem, actually more a report because there is no
solution, it's clearly a bug IMHO:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=288&threadid =1255720&enterthread=y)
Anyway, I found a new issue, which, like last time, I first
successfully and easily recreated using a fresh (slide-based)
document to make sure my AS code isn't interferring.
Doing the same experiment with bot a "normal" Flash document
and with a slide-based one, I created a dynamic text field and
followed (Macromedia/Adobe) instructions to setup multi-language
support (en,de) for the text field, using the Strings dialogue.
It all worked as it should in the regular Flash doc, but
nothing worked in the slide-based one. Right now I'm trying to see
if I can still get it to work using the Locale class and AS code,
but that doesn't seem to work either.
Again, by now I've pretty much decided to abandon slide-based
layout because of the bugs and the non-existing feedback, I'm only
curious if I was the only one who ever even tried slides...(?)

this should work. One thing to keep in mind is that Swing components have fonts set on them, so if the font you are using doesn't contain the characters, then you get garbage sometimes (I see this with japanese characters when they pump into an app I'm currently writing, even though I know I got the right character codes out of the email).
Try base64 encoding the content before it is sent and save it (the base64) to a text file (Don't send the base64 text, send the actual content). Then base64 encode the content when it is recieved and compare it to the stored file (without the whole displaying thing). If they match, your issue isn't javamail, it is probably swing, or you aren't setting the character encodings correctly. If they don't match, javamail.
Just taking bets I would say the two will match and your issue is simply the swing font thing.

  • Multi Language Support Setup

    Hi Gurus,
We have currently upgraded from 11i to R12.1.2 and we have decided to USE MLS & NLS(Multi Language Support) for the very 1st time.We have 4 Languages (American,Spanish,French,Portuguese) so when we query for data in tl tables(apterms_tl,ra_terms_tl,fnd_responsibility_tl) we get four records for a single term_id because we are using 4 languages so we need to keep a language join. What I am doing is
Select * from ap_terms_tl where agent_id = 5 and language = USERENV('LANG'); which returns only one row with US as the language. Here is a sceneario where I am struck I want to see data in a different language like Spanish or french or Portuguese so how can i achieve that. what i am trying to do is
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = 'BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE'; and then querying for
Select * from ap_terms_tl where agent_id = 5 and language = USERENV('LANG'); i get data in Portuguese. How can we achieve this from user level perspective. like when we register a Canadian USER and he wants to see American and vice -verse.
here are the profile options for NLS & MLS
    PROFILE_NAME USER_NAME
    ICX_DATE_FORMAT_MASK ICX: Date format mask
    ICX_DATE_LANGUAGE ICX: Date language
    ICX_LANGUAGE ICX: Language
    ICX_NLS_SORT ICX: NLS Sort
    ICX_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS ICX: Numeric characters
    ICX_TERRITORY ICX: Territory
I tried setting up these profile Options but didn't work. I am struck Here(like where to set these profile options to make the MLS work).Let me explain the sceneriao
Here is what we are trying to achieve When a user from Canada login into Oracle Applications and runs a request set or a concurrent Program he has to see the output in Canadian Language Responsibility this should be done dynamically(changing the Language). You have give me a scenario like changing the preferences and setting the session languages can we dot it dynamically like as soon as the user logs in from Canada his session Language should be set to Canada Language.
I am just waiting for some help from the gurus.
    Help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Krishna

    Hi Hussien,
I able to see the languages in the tables and when i alter the session and I able to see the data in that particular Language.Even i log-in into oracle applications and click on Preferences and change the session Language Other than US i can see the screens in a different Language. Is there anything we can't do dynamically instead of user signing into Oracle Applications and change his session Language.
Like when the user logs-in from Canada then he can automatically see his country language.
    Thanks & Regards
    Krishna.

  • OAM lockout page multi language support

  • Multi currency support with java.util.Locale

My project has a requirement to support multiple currencies as our first internationalization feature. However, I've come across something with the Locale class that doesn't really make sense to me, and I'm wondering if anyone else has any best practices or insight.
Why can't you create a Locale knowing only the ISO 3166 code? For multi-currency support, it doesn't make sense that I should need to provide a language in order to obtain a Locale, which is needed to generate the proper NumberFormat (and in 1.4 the java.util.Currency) class.
Is there an instance where the language one speaks is directly correlated to the currency that they use?
Actually, it doesn't make much sense that you can create a Locale only from a language either, since if my user a Hispanic-American, the language would be Spanish but the country (and therefore currency) would be US.
It seems to me that if the Locale class can default a country code based on the language, it should also be able to default a language based on the country.
Given these limitations, is there a recommended best practice about obtaining a Locale without a pre-determined language?

    Hi,
this was a bit of a bugbear for a long time. Currency kind of wound up inexorably linked to Locale for a long time because the way a currency was formatted depended on the textual layout of the language as well as the country, and as date formatting was an issue too, it was easier for them to implement it the way they did.
It's been an RFE for a long time, and I believe the beta releases of Merlin carry a currency API that is separate from a Locale. The link to the RFE is below. Hopefully Merlin Beta will allow you to achieve what you want - it seems to be pretty stable from what I've seen of it, and Sun do have a good record when it comes to releasing stable betas, so I wouldn't panic too much about the fact you're developing on a "pre-release candidate" JDK.

No I am using VB (ADO, ORAOLEDB) to insert the data. In my VB code I know the data that I have is unicode. I cann see it by doing val(ascb(midb(Comments,2))) * 256 + val(ascb(midb(Comments,1)))
Also if I use sql plus editor to insert some data using insert into abc value nchr(64037), I can retrieve this data using my VB.
While inserting I am using a stored procedure command and am specifying the type as 202 (adVarWChar).
Does the client setting (NLS_LANG) need to be anything specific? I tried setting it to UTF8 as well

  • Multi Language support : which release of portal?

    Is multi-language supported in 3.0.6?
I know it is supported in 3.0.7, but what about 3.0.6?
Furthermore, I heard there are knowns problems with 3.0.7 language support.
Is it worth waiting 3.0.8 or can we pretty safely use 3.0.7?
    Thanks

In 3.0.7 we have still problems with multi language support.
We are switching to 3.0.8 which seems to be solution of almost all our's problems. (Bugs and missing features)

  • Multi-language support for ABSL messages

Is there some best practice or feature for multi-language support of ABSL messages (as it exists for the UI since 3.5). Currently we are maintaining messages in several languages (one message entry in the BO per language) and depending on the current user language we raise the respective message. However, with an increasing number of supported languages this becomes quite tedious.
    - Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
unfortunately there is no other way than the one you described. One thing that may make your life abit easier: In a business object you can refer to messages from another business object. This means you can create one business object "messages" that holds all messages so that you have all messages in one .bo file and not spread across all your BOs. The translation process is easier, if you have all your messages in one file.
    Best regards,
    Thomas
