Multi resource Scheduling with CRM

Hi MRS Experts,
I am an CRM consultant working on a scenario of resource planning in SAP CRM services. We have a scenario where the user creats a service order in IC web client. As soon as he creates a service order two things should happen:
1) Appoint scheduling based on customer availibility
2) resource (employee) scheduling
Regarding this I have following questions:
1) Can MRS work in this scenarion (resource scheduling in/with SRP CRM?
2) Is it a standard integration?
3) What it takes to integrated MRS with SAP CRM?
4) What data points are required to in mRS from CRM to for resource scheduling and appointment scheduling:?
5) If we are correct WFM is not requred for MRS?
6) How MRS integrates with mobile application fro the service scenario?
7) is it advisibel to use WFM or MRS, with CRM?
PS: Guys its great to have such discussion, the doc links mentioned in the first page do not work.
I would realy appriciate if somebody clarifies the above queries as early aspossible as i am struggling at this point a lot.

Hello Aditya,
1) Yes MRS can work with CRM. But with the current release in service market place (whcih is MRS 610) it is not possible to have this as out of the box solution.
You will need to enhance MRS to enable this.
2) With the new release, which is due this year, it will be possible to integrate CRM service orders with MRS.
3) MRS provides more functions with respect to service planning. So I would say MRS should be preferred solution.

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) - Displaying Planning Board

    I've gotten the MRS planning board to function the way I want it in my sandbox, for example, when I run /MRSS/PLBOTIME the all the resources show up that are in the planning node the resource planner is assigned to and all subordinate resource nodes.  Also, the demand shows up.  I thought life was good.  I've now moved to my development box and configured the system the same as sandbox (to the best of my knowledge). 
    Now when I run /MRSS/PLBOTIME:
    1.  I get a popup window telling me that there are several valid resource planning nodes and requiring me to select one.
    2.  While the resources show up the demand does not.
    Now when I run /MRSS/PLBOSRV:
    1.  The demands I selected show up but none of the resources do.
    As I mentioned above, to the best of my knowledge, the MRS configuration is the same between the two boxes (e.g.,  work center types properly assigned, resource planning nodes and evaluation paths as delivered, user interface profiles, /MRSS/SGE_PN_MNT, etc.).  I can't figure out why the popup window is now showing up asking me to select a resource plannng node and, more importantly, why in one case the resources show up but not the demand and in the other the demand shows up but not the resources.  The only way I can now get both demand and resources to show up in the planning board is by running /MRSS/PLBOORGSRV.

    1.  What I had seen before in two other systems is that the org.units that are associated with me as the Resource Planner would show up, as well as all other subordinate org.units, both resources and demands.  In this system what I see is that the demands associated with  subordinate org.units are not showing up, only the resources.  I went into another system I have access to in order to confirm what I had been seeing.
    2.  Also, when launching the Planning Board using this transaction in other systems I had never seen a window pop up telling me there were "several valid resource planning nodes" and asking me to pick an org.unit from the list, it always just gave me the org.unit I was associated with plus any subordinate ones.  (We upgraded to SP06 last night and this morning this window didn't pop up, instead it gave me the resources and demand for the org.unit I am the Resource Planner for, as well as those for subordinate org.units....weird.)
    /MRSS/PLBOSRV --> Logical as you described is what I expected, however, what I was seeing was that the resources associated with the demands were not showing up.  After a closer look what appears to be happening is that the selected demands are being brought into the Planning Board but no resources unless the resource has previously been assigned to the demand.  In other words, resources associated with the work centers used in the operations (and their linked org.units) are not showing up in this Planning Board, they only show up if they had previously been assigned to a demand.  I can, of course, manually bring in resources once I'm in this Planning Board.  Is this what you meant?
    /MRSS/PLBOORD --> I followed your logic of "if I am responsible for the parent org.unit then I am responsible for the lower org.units also".  However, the logic escapes me as to why this only applies to resources and not demand.  Regardless, as long as I know that's how it works then I can deal with it.

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) - Integrating HR with MRS

    The way I read page 14 of the MRS Implementation Documentation (version 1.5...MRS610 SP05) I should not have to move HR mini-masters into my ERP box where my customer will run MRS. All we should have to do to take advantage of the HR records is to:
    1. install MRS on the HR box;
    2. define the RFC in configuration on the HR box to point to the MRS system; and,
    3. run program /MRSS/HCM_RPTWFMIF in the HR box to move the necessary data from the HR records to the MRS tables in the MRS system.
    The customer does not want to use MRS to post back to HR so that side of this is not an issue so the RFC configuration pointing to the HR box should not be needed.
    On the other hand, I still need to link each personnel record to a "technician" work center so I'm assuming that while the work schedule may be transfered to MRS directly from the HR box to MRS Basis, I still need an HR record of some kind in my MRS system for that link.
    Is this correct? Has anyone else done this?

    I understand that it is good for HCM and MRS to be running on the same box but in my experience that is rarely the case.  In fact, every company I have ever dealt with has their HR data on a box different from their ERP/MRS box.  That is certainly the case with the customer I am currently working with.  What I am trying to figure out, given that HCM and MRS are running on seperate boxes, is:
    1.  Is it required to put MRS on the HCM box and run the /MRSS/HCM_TPTWFMIF Transfer Report from the HCM box in order to transfer the resource availability data to the MRS box?  If so, then for the HR records that must be in the MRS box is it still necessary to have Info Types 0000, 0001, 0002, and 0007 for each record or can 0007 be left out since the availability data is coming from the HCM box?
    2.  If it is still necessary to have Info Types 0000, 0001, 0002, and 0007 for each HR record in the MRS box then what is the value of putting MRS on the HCM box and running the /MRSS/HCM_TPTWFMIF Transfer Report from the HCM box?  All the data needed for the transfer report will exist in the MRS box with the HR records there and the report can just be rurn against the HR records in the MRS box.

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) - Show operation status in Planning Board

    Because the current MRS thread is some long and complicated I chose to move this question into a seperate thread:
    Initial question:
    Like many companies, it is not unusual at my customer for their Planners to create orders with multiple operations, particularly since many orders require different crafts to perform the work. When the Planning Board is launched and Planners lok at work scheduled for the past week they want to be able to see at a glance which operations have been completed and which operations, perhaps from the same order, have not and may need to be rescheduled. Their preference is to select "final confirmation" when using transaction IW41 and thereby set the operation system status to CNF when the work on an operation has been completed. They then want to somehow use this CNF operation status to drive something visual in the graphical Demand layout display and Resource layout display to enable the Planner to see at a glance that the operation has been completed. I've tried several approaches with configuration of abstract statuses and the user interface profile without success. My customer's interest in being able to see the completion status of an operation in the MRS Planning Board makes a lot of sense to me. I'm hoping someone can help me with a technique for modifying the Planning Board so that it displays the completion status of an operation in a visual way.

    Hi Mark,
    The problem at your customers end is nothing new.
    What you can do ( many other customers have done it in similar way ) is:
    1) you integrate the status CNF into MRS.
    Check the customizing: Basic Settings -> Assign ERP Objects -> Status
    2) configure in MRS that for status CNF, the assignments and demands (only in item work list or Hotlist) is colored to GREEN (or any other color)
    Check customizing: Set Up Scheduler Workplace -> Workplace Profiles -> Define User Interface Profiles
    Thus the users will know visually, that the green colored assignments are already completed.
    By the way, in your work list you can also filter the demands based on their status

    Thanks for the response.  I thought I had tried this but perhaps it's because in the UI profile I had not entered something in both the status groups for assignments and the status groups for demands.  I have a bit more testing to do but it appears that the demand status now gets updated from the operation status of PCNF (linked to abstract status WORK_START) and CNF (linked to abstract status WORK_STOP).  I also get a red bar (C4) for PCNF and a green bar (C1) for CNF.  Do you have a better status group I should be using in place of C1 and C4?  Status groups C1 and C4 give me a bar but it doesn't look like the demand bar with a outline and alphanumeric description of the demand, it's just a colored bar.
    I know the work list can be filtered based on their MRS "planning" status, however, it doesn't appear to permit filtering by the status of the operation unless I add the operation status as an additional field in the worklist.  Is there something I'm missing here?  And even if it did, my customer wants to be able to see the CNF status indication in the Demand layout and schedule using the work centers so the worklist is not being shown like it is in the Resource layout.

    Hi Mark,
    Well I assumed that you have confirmations integration active !! But I guess not because you say that the status is not integrated always.
    What you need to do:
    1) I assume you have SP05 or later.
    2) Implement the user exit: CONFPM05. In the implementation of this exit you need to call FM: /MRSS/RSG_PM_ORDER_CONFIRM
    3) Go to customizing: Basic Settings --> Assign ERP Objects --> Status
      -- Here, define an abstract status (MRS Status) for confirmed and partially confirmed
      -- map it to R3 status CNF and PCNF.
    After this, whenever you enter confirmation for PM order from transaction IW41, the status will be integrated.
    Now you can use the MRS statuses defined in step 3 to configure the colors.
    Implementing the user exit CONFPM05 might require some technical input. But it is easy. Just a few double clicks and copy paste.
    Contact an ABAP developer for the same.
    This should solve your issue.

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) Assignment reporting (POWL)

    We are implementing SAP Multiresource Scheduling (9.0 SP1) for one of our clients.We are working with the MRS RM webrequest application to create the MRS requests and we assign candidates and create assignments in the MRS planning board. We create both soft-bookings and hardbookings to support the outsourcing processes.
    Now we would like to use the standard MRS reporting tools (POWL) which are available in the WebRequest application. However the assignment report returns no data. (0 records). This is strange because we have a lot of assignments created in the MRS planning board.
    According to the documentation I checked and changed the following settings.
    Check if the business function was activated (OPS_SME_SIMP_01)
    Create a profile ID within the configuration “Define Data Selection for Resource Assignment List” and mark relevant datasets
    Assign this profilIe ID to the Planboard profile
    Check if planboard profile is determined for the selected organizational unit.
    However the report still returns no data.

  • Multi Resource Scheduling

    Hi Experts,
    This is regarding details about Abstract Status in MRS. What i have seen is there are SAP defined Abstract status category and same has to be assigned to status in ERP.
    Can you please help me understand following:
    1) what basis this assignment has to be carried out
    2) Which Abstract status category has to be assigned to which status
    3) How to know about origin ? (Demand or assignment header/item)
    4) Which table in MRS the abstract status corresponding to MRS object ( like Demand) gets updated
    I am unable to understand functional significance of same. I did some config in terms of assigning Abstract status category to User status (defined against user status profile) but when i assign Resource Planner at Network activity level and SAVE i get error "Internal Error while converting abstract status ( Read Status ).
    Can someone help me on this please ?

    Abstract status are synchronized with user status or the system status based on the business requirement.
    /MRSS/MV_ABSTAT get updated. Please give more clarity of your requirement before any hint.

  • Multi Resource Scheduling (MRS) - resources not visible on Gantt chart mode

    I need your expertise help to resolve this issue.
    We are on MRSS 7.0 and ECC 6.0.
    When I run transaction /MRSS/PLBOORG, I am able to see the demands show up.
    However from resources point of view, I can see them on a table based planning but not able to see the resources in the Gantt chart mode.
    The user interface profile (for layout) is set up for 'Planning board for DPD Gantt' as well as for 'Planning board for Resources'.
    Reports to transfer the resources from ECC to MRS have been executed.
    Any help to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    1) You have run the report /MRSS/HCM_RPTWFMIF with transfer qualifications as checked. I guess (from your other post) this data is going in own HR box instead of MRS box (due to RFC issue)
    Check the table: /MRS/D_BAS_REQ
    If you solve the RFC problem, this should get solved automatically.
    2) When you created a Requirement profile, you need to attach it on the "Internal" tab of the operation
    Now check following:
    1) Right click on demand and select "Required Qualifications" -- It should show the qualifications
    2) Right click on Resource and select "Qualifications" -- It should show skills of resource
    If 1 fails - Order Qualifications are not transferred !!
    If 2 fails - Resource qualifications are not transferred - RFC issue (may be)
    If both are there then the suitable resource should work.
    If both 1 and 2 are not there then 100 % result is correct -- Because from the demand side no skill is required so each resource is qualified to do the job...

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) - Using standard HR qualifications

    We are using HR records to represent our resources and have decided not to use MRS qualifications but rather stay with standard HR qualifications.  Therefore, in basic settings, we have not turned on MRS qualifications.  Our challenge, however, is that from within the planning board we are not seeing "required qualifications" and "suitable resources" as we would have expected.  We have done the following:
    1.  Created a simple scale (qualified/not qualified).
    2.  Created a qualfication group with the simple scale assigned.
    3.  Created two qualifications within the qualification group.
    4.  We then created a logistics requirements profile with a qualification which was marked as "essential"
    5.  We then used this requirements profile in a maintenance operation.
    6.  We also used PPPM to assign these qualifications to a few resources with an indication of them being "qualified".
    7.  We also made sure that the operation dates fell within the valid period for the qualifications.
    8.  I'm not sure if it's required but we even ran /MRSS/HCM_RPTWFMIF with the "transfer qualifications" box checked.
    However, when in the planning board, if we select the operation and look for "required qualifications" we see nothing on the list even though the qualification in the profile had been marked as "essential".  Also, when we look for "suitable resources" we get a list of people that seems to have no relationship to the resources that have a qualfication.  Resources will show up on the list with an indication of 100% qualified even though they may never have had the qualification assigned to them or have had "not qualified" assigned and then resources that do have "qualified" assigned may not show up.  There are also other combinations and permutations of people on the list of "suitable resources" that show up but there is no way to tell what is good suitability data and what is not.  Any idea what we may be missing here?  (We are on MRS 610 SP06.)

    We are working in a MRS Project in where customer requirement is to see from planning Board of MRS the equipment associated to the order, keeping in mind that equipment is required at the moment of all orders creation to be scheduled in MRS.
    We think that we could add in the item worklist the field u201Cequipmentu201D or "VIN" (fleet management) related to the order, but we donu2019t know which BADi would be the better to useu2026
    Do you know which BAdi aboard this kind of issueu2026Could we use some of this ones?

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) - Manager Planning Board

    My understanding of the MRS Manager Planning Board is that it will only display those orders that have operations that have been assigned to a resource.  If true, this would mean that the Manager Planning Board would be of little value to an organzation that is only using MRS to schedule to a work center because there would be no demand that had been assigned to a resource.  It would only start to be of some value once the organization began to assign demands to resources.  Is this correct? Or, do you see other value in the Manager Planning Board for an organization that is only scheduling to a work center?
    I've also found that when I run the Manager Planning Board that the resources are displayed, however, I have to hit "refresh" in the Planning Board to get the orders/operations (demand) to display.

    Hi Mark,
    As you already figured out correctly that the Manager planning board displays the resources (in display mode). It displays all the information about the resource: Its availability and assignments. since assignments are displayed, obviously the (related) demands are also displayed.
    If the fine grained planning ( planning at resource level ) does not happen, then obviously it does not make sense to use the manager planning board transaction.
    PS: As the name suggests this transaction is for managers who are not authorized to change anything but only for display. So they will see the resource availability and assignments in this transaction.

  • Multi Resource Scheduling MRS ABAP Error - TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED

    Has anyone come across this.  It has been happening when we schedule a lot of jobs one after the other, almost like the system can't keep up.  I found a couple of OSS notes that may or may not apply as they are from 2008.  It appears to have happened in other areas of the business at different times also.   I am trying to validate if it's related to when MRS updates the orders or a more global problem.

    If you are getting single user no need to worry
    Problem Cause: When ABAPers are executed long scripts  the limit also exhausted .. that time this dumps will come
    solution: spilt the program and execute
    otherwise we need to set Ztta/roll parameters ,, if you change this parameter restart necessary, so not possible

  • SAP Multi Resource Scheduling

    Hi All,
    We have implemented SAP MRS for our PS system. We started converting old networks into MRS. So we activated the process variant at header level and and set the 'STPL'  status for  some activities. Its fine till here. When we pulled some networks by Planning Board we could see some other activities that are not related to us. So we have written a small utility program to remove the STPL status for these activities using the FM  /MRSS/R3_STATUS_CHANGE.. The STPL status is gone at the activity level in CN22  but the activity still appears in the planning board. I know there will be a demand (GUID) tagged to this activity and we need to remove the status from this GUID. Is there any method to remove this actual demand's status??

  • MRS - authorization objects (Multi Resource Scheduling)

    Hello,
    We are implementing MRS for a customer who does not have proper structural authorizations in place, and they would like to avoid using evaluation paths for the authorization check.
    Is there a way to use cost centers to limit user access in MRS? We tried to use cost centers in auth. object MRSS/PB1, but it does not work.
    Is it possible to modify the default MRS auth. objects and add some extra auth. fields? Would that auth. check work in planning board?
    Is there any other way to limit user access in MRS planning board rather than using evaluation paths?

    I have checked the authorization objects related to MRSS in SU24 where I can see based on the T code. Did you find a way how to get relevant for SAP MRS only like the Resource Planner  etc authorizations he need if you have found something like that please share.

  • Multi Resource Scheduling MRS - How to exclude certain Maint Activity Types

    is there a way to exclude orders that have a specific maintenance activity type.  We have standing work orders that in reality we should not have appear on the planning board.  Well, we really shouldn't have any standing orders but we do.

    While a lot of MRS configuration includes maintenance activity type as a way to refine the circumstances in which something occurs (e.g., stretched assignments), that is not the case for defining which demands will be brought into MRS.  However, while not positive, I believe "BAdI:  Integration of Maintenance/Service Order with MRS (ERP)" can be used for this purpose.

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) - Automatic splitting and calc. of AA/RU

    I'm at a bit of a loss to figure out the cause of this issue I'm having.  In our Sandbox if I assign a demand to a resource and the criteria from the Automatic Assignment Split from the Planning Board Profile is met then the demand is automatically split.  In addition, the AA and RU columns are automatically updated to take into account the demand that was just assigned.  All this in Sandbox is occuring as I expected.  However, in our Development box, which is configured the same (the best I can tell), when I assign a demand to a resource that meets the Automatic Assignment Split criteria the demand is not split.  Also, the AA and RU does not get calculated, in fact, the RU continually shows 100%.  Any ideas where else I might go look?
