Multi-Scorm in Captivate 7

Hi,
I'm using Captivate 7 in developing my courses. My course usually comprise of different modules and one final exam at the end.
Each module have 2 random questions at the end which should not be graded, and one final exam at the end that is graded.
Module 1
Module 2
etc..
Final Exam
I published each module/exam as SCORM (to track progress in LMS) and used the Multi-Scorm Packager (Multi SCOs) to have it in one scorm course to be uploaded in LMS. What I want is, only the final exam score should be reported in LMS.
After testing it out, total score in LMS is giving me the average of all the modules in the course. Example, I get a 100% at the final exam, and have 2 modules in the course, the score I'm getting in LMS is 33%.
How should I configure modules in Captivate, such that it will only report final exam score in LMS?
Thanks!

Captivate normally assumes that each module in your course will be marked as either Complete or Passed once the learner successfully finishes it.  You can determine what that passing condition or score happened to be.
For example, you can specify that the module should be considered Complete if the user viewed more than 80% of the slides, or Passed if they got more than 80% of the maximum allowable score.
A good LMS can usually work with either of these reporting conditions, so you may just need to look into whether or not your LMS can allow different modules in a course to be reported differently, i.e. not all to have a score.
Alternatively, you may need to look into configuring your imsmanifest.xml to regard your non-scored modules as resources rather than as modules.  Captivate's Multi-SCORM Packager tool is still fairly basic.  For more sophisticated imsmanifest configuration you could probably look into using RELOAD Editor, or else learn how to hack the default imsmanifest.xml that Captivate creates.

    How can I get rid of this problem?

    Hi Ambiq,
    Can you provide steps how you are leading to crash.
    Also please confirm the OS that you are using including the version of OS.
    If possible can you share the files that are crashing the packager.

  • Multi-SCO Packager does'nt works with scorm 2004 (captivate 7) ?

    Hi everybody,
    I recently published a mutli scorm using Captivate 7 and multi scorm packager.
    Eveyrthing works great when I publish each content to scorm 1.2 and use multi scorm packager after. It works fine in my LMS (moodle or Dokeos).
    But when I publish each content to scorm 2004 and after use multi scorm packager, my course doesn't work in my LMS. A new window is open but nothing is displayed.
    Anyone has the same issue with mutli scorm packager from captivate 7 and scorm 2004 ?
    Best regards.

    Hi,
    I just tested the same workflow as you mentioned, i created a new project in version 7, set reporting fro SCORM 2004 and published using multisco packager and uploaded it to an LMS (http://cloud.scorm.com)
    I was able to launch and go through the course successfully which makes me curious about the nature of your course.
    could you please tell us, if this was built in a previous version of Captivate?
    can you upload the same package to scorm cloud and verify the results.
    Caan you check the Edition of you settings which is 3rds by default. (Quiz-- Quiz Preferences-- Scorm 2004--Manifest), republish and then upload again.
    Good Luck.

  • Multi-SCORM Packager Not Launching in Captivate 8

    When I try to launch the Multi-SCORM Packager in Captivate 8, nothing happens. I am attempting to launch it by clicking File > New Project > Multi-SCORM Packager. "Multi-SCORM Packager appears to be active on the menu, but nothing happens when I click it.
    I'm using Adobe Captivate 8 licensed on it's own (not part of the eLearning Suite).
    Do I have to have the eLearning Suite in order to use the Multi-SCORM Packager? If so, can it be licensed on it's own rather than as part of the eLearning Suite. We also license Adobe Creative Cloud so already have most of the products in the eLearning Suite.

    I have also experinaced this problem today
    I have just updated from v 8.0.0.145 to  8.0.1.242

  • How to Change SCORM version in Captivate 7 Multi-SCORM Packager

    I'm trying to use the Multi-SCORM packager to publish a course to an LMS that uses SCORM 1.2.
    I open the Multi-SCORM packager > select the Pre-Test or Post-Test Rollup option > and the Course Manifest Details popup shows the SCORM version as 2004.  The Adobe webpage on the Multi-SCORM indicates that you can change between 1.2 and 2004, but I can't figure out how.
    Any help would be greatly appreciate.

    Hello Jay,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums !
    I would like to inform you that the option to change the scorm version comes only when you combine scorm using the Multiple SCOs .
    If you select Simple Remediation or Pre-Test or Post-Test Roll-up the you will not be able to select the scorm version it will be scorm 2004 by default.

  • Multi-SCORM Packager for v.5 & v.7 files

    Hi all,
    I have 11 different projects that originally were created in v.5 and that I am editing now. This is the only version of Captivate that the client has and wants to maintain the files in this version. I also have v.7 on my machine. Since Multi-SCORM is now a part of v.7, can I use that to publish the .zip files that include the imsmanifest.xml files to upload to their LMS (ComplianceWire)?
    Thanks

    If you're asking whether or not the Cp7 Multi-SCORM Packager can handle Cp 5.5 SCOs the answer is that it's not likely.  Cp6 introduced a totally new set of SCORM drivers from Rustici Software, the people behind the SCORM Cloud LMS and TIN CAN API.  As a result of this big change to the SCORM output, the Cp 5.5 packager could not handle Cp6 or Cp7 SCOs.  So the reverse would also seem likely.
    But by all means do some testing before you write it off.

  • Multi-SCORM Packager

    Hi
    You may have read a few of my discussions I have raised in the last month or so regarding Aggregator and its border issues:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4528160#4528160
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4528226#4528226
    I have recently found out about Multi-SCORM Packager and I am wondering if this will fix the issue I am having with the borders.
    Has anyone used Multi-SCORM before or can they tell me if it is any good? Unfortunately it looks like we would have to pay for it if it works as it doesnt come with Captivate 5, which we have.
    Cheers
    Jonny

    The only way you would get a free trial of the SCORM Packager tool would be to install the trial version of the full E-learning Suite, which also includes a trial version of Captivate (currently Cp6).
    The Multi-SCORM Packager just bundles two or more SCORM-compliant Captivate modules into a multi-SCO SCORM zip package.  Each component SCO will play from within the LMS pretty much just as it would look if launched separately in a browser, with the exception that the LMS will probably play the content from within a player application because it needs to listen for learner interaction data coming from the SCOs.
    If you do get hold of the Multi-SCORM packager and want to see what the resulting content looks like in an LMS, try SCORM Cloud.  It's free and online.

  • Multi-Scorm Package sometimes doesn't pick up titles in the TOC

    I name each of the individual published segments to reflect the name I want to appear in the TOC.  However, I have two packages where the TOC doesn't reflect the names and instead "Course Object Title" appears for all segments in the TOC.  Most of my packages simply pick up the names with which I saved the individual segment zip files when I published them.  Help is appreciated.

    I am using Captivate 8, and yes, I am using Multi-Scorm Package to create the courseware after publishing the modules individually.

  • How do I access Multi SCORM Packager

    I need to package four Captivate projects for Moodle.

    You can also access it from Captivate, Launch Captivate, click on File > New project > Multi Scorm Packager.
    To package your projects for Moodle, first make sure that All the projects that you have been published must be either Scorm 1.2 or Scorm 2004 enabled in their Quiz Preferences. (In a Captivate project, go to Quiz > Quiz Preferences > Enable Reporting, standard should be Scorm 1.2 or Scorm 2004).
    Then, once you have published your projects, there will zipped output, that can be imported in Multi Scorm Packager and we can export one zipped integrated package.

    Thanks.

  • Multi-SCORM Packager Takes the SCO Title from the wrong field

    I think I've just stumbled across a huge bug in the Cp7 Multi-SCORM Packager tool.  Can anyone else confirm seeing this same issue?
    I have a multi-SCORM course with several modules.  Each SCO is set up in the LMS Manifest dialog with a unique ID in the SCO Identifier field (e.g. My_Course_Module_ID) and the SCO Title field underneath has the correct name of the same module (e.g. My Course Module).  When published to SCORM zip files the imsmanifest.xml files for these modules are correct.
    However, I've just discovered that when packaging up a number of these SCORM modules using the Multi-SCORM Packager tool, the resulting imsmanifest.xml file it produces is NOT using the SCO Title. When uploaded to an LMS the SCO Title shown in the LMS TOC seems to be whatever had been used as the Project Title field text in the Publish dialog at the time the SCO was published.
    Here's the issue: The Publish Title field ends up being used for the file names of the output.  So if you use a Project Title such as: My Course Module it will mean your HTM and SWF output file are named as My Course Module.htm and My Course Module.swf.  The problem with this is obviously that the spaces in the filenames mean you cannot use them on the web.  So, I normally use a lowercase name with underscore characters in the Project Title field (e.g. my_course_module) to ensure the output is web-compatible (e.g. my_course_module.htm, my_course_module.swf).
    It doesn't matter whether you are publishing for SCORM 1.2 or 2004, the result is the same. The TOC in the LMS comes out with the wrong text string.  The issue with this bug in the Multi-SCORM Packager taking the Title attribute for the imsmanifest.xml from the wrong dialog field means that the TOC strings displayed in the LMS are incorrect.  So far I've found no way to resolve this issue other than manually modifying the combined imsmanifest.xml.
    Has anyone else seen this issue?  Can Adobe confirm if this is a known bug/issue so that I know if I need to log it or not?  Is there a fix or workaround (other than manually editing each and every imsmanifest.)

    Shriyansh,
    Are you using the Cp7 version of the Multi-SCORM Packager or the Cp8 version?  I'm talking about the Cp7 packager app.
    I've tried this Cp7 SCORM Packager on two different machines installed a year apart and they both do the same thing.
    Here is my Manifest dialog settings:
    Note that what I'm expecting to see in the TOC of the LMS SCORM Player is the Title field name of the SCO (About Working in Courts in this case).  But what I'm seeing appear is actually not that field, and it's not even the SCO ID field above it.  (I tried changing that field as well to see if its value was what ended up getting written into the imsmanifest.xml for the multi-SCORM package.)
    What ended up being used as the Title of the SCO in the package turned out to be the contents of the Publish dialog's Project Title field.
    I verified this by changing the values in this Project Title field for a couple of SCOs, published them to zips and then compiled them into a Multi-SCORM.  THEN  I was seeing those values in the TOC of the LMS player.
    Currently, when I create a Multi-SCORM Package with the Cp7 app, here's what I see in the Title tags of the Organizations block:
    As you can see above, what's coming out is NOT the SCO Title tag value from the Manifest dialog, and although it looks similar, it's not the SCO ID either.  The value is in fact taken from the Publish dialog's Project Title field.
    Weird.  I've never seen this issue in any previous version of the Multi-SCORM Packager tool.
    Any ideas why this is getting so badly screwed up?

  • Problems with Scorm and Captivate

    There appears to be a major problem with Scorm compliance and Captivate 4.
    From my understanding, Scorm 1.2 requires that the Manifest include the filenames of all resource files in order to import them. It appears that when Captivate externalizes its resources (Skins, etc) it does not include them in the Manifest. This is because Captivate does not dynamically create the manifest, but rather uses template manifest to fill in variables. The file that is missing from the template is untitled_skin.swf. Below is the template and the output from my test. From the template, it does not appear that Captivate will support anything other than a single SWF and be compliant with Scorm 1.2 (1.2 Scorm Specs http://www.imsglobal.org/content/packaging/cpv1p1p2/imscp_bestv1p1p2.html)
    Template:
    <resources>
      <resource identifier="@RD_MQZ_MANIFEST_ID_RES" type="webcontent" href="@RD_MQZ_MANIFEST_HTM_NAME_HREF" adlcp:scormtype="sco">

                <file href="SCORM_support/scorm_support.js"/>
                <file href="SCORM_support/scorm_support.swf"/>

    Actual XML:

    <file href="untitled.swf" />
    <file href="untitled.htm" />
    <file href="SCORM_support/scorm_support.htm" />
    <file href="SCORM_support/scorm_support.js" />
    <file href="SCORM_support/scorm_support.swf" />
    Please advise..
    Thank You!

    Michael,
    SCORM packages do have a number of "must-haves", but the listing of every last resource asset is more a best practice (although a good idea).
    The content doc that you reference actually states that it is a best-practice document at the top.
    My stand has always been that in the long run you are much better off if you follow all the rules (especially as the standards evolve and build on each other) so I would love to see captivate list all the resources in the future.
    Importantly though, for any SCORM certified LMS there are two instances where resources MUST be listed.
    First, if it is the href launch file for that particular resource (i.e. <resource identifier="SCO_ID1_RES" type="webcontent" href="untitled.htm"adlcp:scormtype="sco"> in your example) then obviously it must be listed in order for LMS to serve up the next part of the course.
    The other time it must be listed is if that particular resource is actually a "dependency sub-element" of whatever sco or other resource it applies to.
    As long as you have those bases covered, and all the other rules of course (schemas definitions, etc...) it should still pass the appropriate ADL conformance test suite.
    I use both captivate 3 and 4 with a whole host of different LMS systems and have found the generated files to be quite sufficient for basic packaging needs.
    Although, I have made a few customizations based on comments I have read from Andrew Cherney and Mike Rustici (I try to read everything either one of them answers for someone on the forum).
    If you are saying that a particular LMS is doing some kind of "import validation" before it accepts and allows you to publish your content, then that is actually quite common (though usually transparent unless you hit a snag in the validation).
    Typically, the validation will consist of a shortened version of the same basic items that the ADL test suite checks for (schemas and declarations, launch files, etc..).
    That said, if because of an LMS that you need to account for, you absolutely NEED to have all the files listed in the manifest, a great tool for ensuring that is actually free.
    It is called RELOAD, and if you ever take one of the courses run by the ADL Academic Co-Lab (which I highly recommend) that is the tool they use for teaching about packaging and sequencing.
    Very useful tool for creating new packages or editing existing packages as well as adding metadata, sequencing rules and so on.
    RELOAD lets you drag and drop whole directories of resources and set their dependency requirements so you could use it to quickly add all your resources to the manifest.
    This is their website:
    http://www.reload.ac.uk/
    I can generally get by with just the files that captivate generates for scorm 1.2 , but for any heavy lifting (i.e. dynamic sequencing in scorm 2004), I always bring RELOAD into the picture.
    I hope this was helpful.  I tend to ramble on about standards sometimes...

  • SCORM and Captivate 6

    Has the SCORM publish feature been improved significantly in Captivate 6? I understand that the code in Captivate 5.5 and previous versions caused lots of problems.

    Yes  and why ?
    1. We now use Industry best scorm engine
    2. We have tested against many popular LMS
    3. SCORM output is ADL compliant

  • Can anyone verify which version of SCORM 2004 Captivate 4 supports?

    Captivate 4 in supporting SCORM 2004 writes 1.3 out to the manifest.
    Obviously it supports SCORM 2004 version 1, but can anyone verify whether it does support either version 2 or version 3 of 2004?
    We're trying to make sure our LMS is up to the latest specs. Version 4 just came out in March 2009, so we don't expect any products to support that yet, but we at least want to be able to support the latest Version up to that being used.

    Cp4 should be able to ouput SCORM 2004 content that plays in an LMS that supports any of the 4 editions.
    This does NOT mean that Cp4 has all the new changes already built into it.
    But it does mean that Cp4 still handles the basics that are core to each version without attempting the latest extras.
    The latter editions of scorm 1.3 (aka scorm 2004), added to and clarified aspects of the spec (e.g. sequencing and navigation control between sco's, global variables that can be shared between sco's, etc.), but Cp does not do any of that anyway.
    There is one big thing that I did come across though that I want to mention.
    Early on, they changed the name from scorm 1.3 to scorm 2004.
    As a result, you can have equivalent courses, whose only difference is that the manifest file refers to the spec by a different name.
    Many LMS vendors have accounted for this and it should not make a difference.
    However, I had a case where the version of the LMS being used was released when it was still called scorm 1.3.
    My courses (which were scorm 2004, 2nd and 3rd edition) initially would fail the basic package validation when uploading because it was looking for "1.3" in the imsmanifest file.
    Changed the line in the manifest to reflect the old name, and suddenly everything was fine again.
    In my case, to verify I ran the package through each iteration of the ADL Conformance Test Suite for scorm 2004 (just adjusting name of the referenced schema) and it ran through without a hitch.
    Hope this has helped.
