Multi-speaker missing

After updating to itunes 10.6.3.25 multi-speaker is missing on the lower right corner of itunes. Use Windows XP. Any suggestions? Thanks

AEn and airtunes and disappearing multi-speaker window

I set up the new AEn with no problems, but after trying to use Airfoil so I could also send audio to my mini, the drop down multi-speaker window won't show up in iTunes anymore.
I have quit Airfoil, thrown out my iTunes preferences(plist), restarted a million times, reset the pram, made sure the "look for remote speakers' is checked. I can't think of anything else to do to get itunes to see my AEn. Any ideas?
I have a dual band network set up because of the Mac mini. So I have a TC with an AEBSn hard wired into the TC and the AEn wirelessly connected to that.

Sorry to hear you have the same issues, but again its good that im not the only one!
Regarding Airfoil.... I found the sound quality to be OK - remember that AFTER 10 MINUTES it will deliberately put a nasty 'hiss' sound across the audio until you pay for the full version. Not so bad as at least it allows you to check functionality and get 10 minutes of clear play.
It is not ideal to have to revert to it... and I still dont know if it has the same dropout issues as 10 minutes really isn't long enough to be sure.
Im a bit worried that Apple are NOT on this one at all. As I said earlier, I thought it a bit of an obvious fault, and would be fixed with an imminent AppleTV / iTunes update - unfortunately now these updates have arrived and its still broken, I doubt we will see any new updates for a long time to come
Again, I love all my Apple kit... but its so disappointing when a function is 'broken' by an update, and we are left with something we used frequently not working at all !

Using Windows 7 home prem. Firewall off and no home sharing compatibility with iphone and apple airport express. I once had the ability to switch or share computer speakers and airport express with icon "multi speakers" in lower right hand corner of itunes but not there anymore. Any tips?

Raise to speak missing in IOS 8

I couldn't find a good way to report this as a 'bug' or 'feature request' wanted to register my unhappiness with the removal of this feature. It is quite annoying to have Siri use the speaker at full volume when I want her to quietly add an appointment to my calendar. I (use to) use 'Raise to talk' in the office, at the doctors office, or in places where my quietly spoken commands into the phone were fine, but Siri's blaring beeping and questions would have been distracting. I don't get enough voice messages for the 'raise to listen' to be very meaningful to me. I could already do that by pushing the play button.

Home sharing multi speaker(indoor/outdoor)

I have a home network with a Macbook pro, airport extreme, airport express (connected to stereo), appleTV, iPad, Ipod.
I'm looking on way to go further in using my iPad/ipod has remote control
I want to install outdoor speaker connected using Wifi
It would be ideal to have the sound system responde wifi remote so to choose the speakers I want activated, since it is not possible to have multiple song playing each on a different speaker (airport express). Why have multiple airport express, one to connect then the sound system to dispach to proper speaker.
Are there any sound system that can be controle using wifi? (ipod or Ipad)
Are there any peaker that can be connected using airport wifi? (and controle using ipod or Ipad)

There are speaker systems that can use airplay. You don't need the Airport Express.

X-Fi Speaker configuration - can't get 5.1 work

Using a Soundblaster X-Fi Elite Pro and Logitech Z-5500 speakers.
I'm starting to lose my patience with the crappy drivers. No matter what I do, I can't get the speakers to work in 5.. I can get a pseudo-surround effect by enabling CMSS, but it isn't proper surround.
My biggest problem lies with the speaker setup console, where I test the speakers.
With CMSS set to "Stereo XPand", then using the speaker setup utility to test:
Click on centre, sound is ok.
Click on front right or front left, and the sound also comes from the centre, but it's very soft.
Click on rear-left, sound comes from front left and barely audible on rear left.
Click on rear-right, sound comes from front right and barely audible on rear right.
With CMSS set to "Stereo Surround":
Centre plays on all channels.
Front left plays on front left and rear left.
Front right plays on front right and rear right.
Clicking on rear right and rear left play on fronts, as above.
With CMSS disabled:
All sound gets played on front left and front right - centre and surround speakers don't work.
I've re-installed my drivers three times now, and I've played with all the settings in the audio-creation console.
I have set the driver to play through 5. speakers, so don't suggest that I change that

Sure, CMSS is a great feature for stereo content to be played on a multi-speaker system, but you guys are missing the point.
I have 5. sources here that are not working properly. My DVDs don't have sound on the centre channel or rear channels. CMSS might fix this, sure, but why should I need to upmix a 5. channel?
Moreover, when I click on the rear left speaker, and the lady says "LEFT SURROUND" I sure as hell want sound coming out of my REAR LEFT speaker. I don't see a little popup box that goes "Oh hey, the sound is coming from the wrong speaker but that is normal."
I have games and movies that output in true 5.. I have a sound system that is capable of true 5.. My PS2 will happily play my DVDs in 5., and I can use the THX tests on some of my DVDs, playing on my PS2, to hear sound coming from each speaker, individually.
My $250 sound card can only pretend to do it right. What gives, Creative?
How difficult is it to just write a sound driver that outputs the six discrete channels via the analogue outputs?

Currently running apple base station v6.2 and itunes 6.0.5.20 (windows), however I am not able to play music through both the AE and Me Computer simutaneously.
I do not get the 'mulltiple speakers tab' or anything that looks like this:

Can only select the AE or My Computer.
AE is in join an existing network mode (linksys) and works fine on its own. Just can't do the multi speaker thing... which would rock.
What am I missing...?

UT2004 X-FI-Patch. Missing Reverbs, Occlusion ....

Is anyone else missing EAX-features ? When another player shoots behind a wall i can hear it as clearly as there would be no wall and not muffled at all. And i hear no reverb, every room sounds the same. Besides the new weapon-sounds, they?re rumbling

Soundfonts missing high frequencies after new driver installation

did anyone have a problem similar to this :
I recently installed new drivers for my sb audigy (newest driver webupdate from Nov. 9th 2003, audio-hq, surroundmixer and taskbar)...i was happy about the new options and the driver seems to be stable, but a problem occured - the soundfonts sound quality is not as good as before, they sound kind of muffled, it seems that the high frequencies are missing... I didn't have that problem with the 'old' driver(s) installed.
Does anybody know a solution for this ?

thanks for your reply. It helped me to figure out how to avoid that volume difference but still the soundfonts sounded the same way.
So i started an intensi've search in the internet and in this forum to find a hint about what could be the reason for this and finally found the solution, maybe it's interesting for you and anybody else who may have the same problem:
In the directory C: (assumed to be the main path)\ProgramFiles\Creative\SBAudigy\Program\WDM\C ommon is an application placed called 'ctpanel'. It includes an option for speaker settings and this involves a check-box for CMSS 3D selection, it was set to CMSS . CMSS is creative's multi-speaker-surround 3D, designed to bring stereo content into the 5. and now even in 7. surround sound.
Somehow at least the soundfont signal passes through the CMSS - section when the Creative Asio driver is used within an sequencer application. With CMSS activated, the soundfonts sound kind of muffled -- set CMSS Off and it sounds the way it should be.

Want to use Apple TV to serve existing 4 room wired speaker installation

I purchased a home with existing 4 room speaker system. All wires terminate in basement where previous owner had some type of media control center. Each speaker zone has control for volume in the various rooms.
My goal is to reconnect the speakers and use my Apple TV (previous generation) as my music source. I want to keep this as simple and cheap as possible.
I am assuming I will need an Amp/receiver and a multi-speaker splitter to plug all the speaker wires into. I know I can use the Apple Remote app on my IPhone to control it remotely.
What I would like to hear about from the community is
1. opinions on this set up. Is there an easier or simpler way to drive and control the speaker?
2. if this arrangment makes sense, has anyone done this and what equipment works best?

If you have zoned volume control (ie control for each room) your simplest set up would be to join all four sets of speaker cables into a single output from an amp/receiver, you would need to turn the volume to zero in rooms where you didn't want audio but you will need to judge for yourself whether that is convenient for you or not.
Your other option is to use an amp with at least 4 separately controlled outputs or a multiplexer, this would be controlled from one central point and so would allow you to turn rooms off without actually visiting them.

Multi-Channel Sound in Director?

I'm interested in creating a 3D immersive environment in
Director. I'm looking for a way to select which speaker a sound is
played on. I know that I can set the pan for a sound over two
speakers, but would like to do that for two pairs of speakers,
independently.
Does anyone know a way to output audio to the front and rear
channels and control what sound goes where?

Lingo natively has 8 sound "channels" but they all get mixed
to the same sound device. You probably need an xtra than can access
a multi-speaker setup on the sound card. Also, did you look at
OpenAL and the OpenAL xtra? It's built for 3D sound.

Streaming to multi speakers causes stuttering

when i use the Itunes multi speaker option the music stutters, strange thing is even the hard wired speakers on the PC stutter

I have a similar problem, and I wondered if you might help. I have a macbook (2008) running the latest version of itunes (just updated) and Airplay tho with a pretty old router. (I got a relatively new one for the network just a few months ago but the one hooked up to my amplifier is an old airport-- the square ones-- I have had for years -- it's linked to the amp via the 3.5mm output jack)
I seem to run into this on the "Rubber Soul" album, and I checked it agsint the copies from iTunes and even ripping another edition of the CD. The vocal tracks seem to disappear, like the guys are singing at the bottom of a well. "Run For Your Life" for example, the verses Lennon sings are almost inaudible. On Norwegian Wood it sounds like they are in an echo chamber a mile away.
So, on all my other music it seems fine, but I wasn't sure if Steve Jobs hated "Rubber Soul" or what.
I haven't duplicated this on other music -- tho just now I noticed some weird effects on the opening track of Sgt. Pepper. Only half the vocals are on, the lyrics by Lennon are again near-absent) I might try to see what happens when I play the mono version of my Jefferson Airplane CD.
Is there a software fix? Should I be linking my airport in some other fashion to the amp? (The amp is pretty old, I got it in what, 1998?) Should I be using the USB link somehow to the audio out? Is thi an effect of weird stereo mixes of the 1960s?
BTW I am not trying to tream to multiple devices or anythign, just to the one.

No THX/DTS output on my speak

I have an Audigy 2 ZS with Creative 7. analog speakers. The card and speakers seems to work fine and I got throught the THX setup without a problem. But when I try to play a movie (or anything else) in THX, DTS or CMSS mode, nothing comes out. Any suggestions on fixing this?

THX is not a format, but a certication program (so you know it meets a particular performance standard). CMSS is an option on our cards that you can use to get multi-speaker sound from sources that would otherwise be stereo, but not an option on DVDs you purchase. Movies would normally be in DTS or Dolby Digital 5. for instance.
If your movies have Dolby Digital (5.) or DTS tracks, make sure you select that track, and set your DVD software's audio option to "SPDIF output", to ensure it leaves the signal to the card instead of decoding it.
Seeing as you have analog speakers, the only other thing you would need to do is to make sure the speaker set up (in the card's software) is set up correctly.

Finally got my Cambridge DTT3500 DTT 3500 working in 5.1 surround on my iMac!

fyi, just got an iMac and was struggling to get 5.1 surround sound using my Mac with my old faithful DTT3500
So I'm posting this just in case anyone needs to know how to get the DTT3500 to work with an iMac:
- Cable: Belkin Pure A/V Digital Optical cable with Mini-Toslink adapter (available from Apple) but there are other similar cables available on the market.
- Connections: iMac audio out (Mini-plug) to optical in (Toslink) on the DTT3500 (using the supplied mini-toslink adapter with the Belkin cable)
- DTT 3500 Settings:
*Set/toggle the "Creative Multi Speaker Surround" button to "Fourpoint/5.1"
*Set/toggle the "Dolby Digital/PCM Audio" button to "Optical"
*Set/toggle the "Multi Channel" to OFF i.e. both "Line In" and "Digital DIN" are off(dark)
*Set/toggle the "Dolby Pro logic" button to "Digital In"
NOTE: you can change the "Creative Multi Speaker Surround" option to your desired audio purpose if you don't want surround e.g. Music, Stereo, etc. but when you want surround sound again just remember to reset the "Dolby Pro Logic" button back to "Digital In" since it gets toggled OFF when you select anything other than "Fourpoint/5.1 DIN" (using the "Creative Multi Speaker Surround" button) and it DOESN'T TOGGLE BACK ON again when you re-select "Fourpoint/5.1 DIN".
That's it!
At least I can hold off buying some new speakers/surround processor for a while, since I'm now broke after buying the iMac

Well I'm not using Vista I'm using XP SP2 and I have the same problem.
On the windows sound control panel there is a button called speaker volume. when you click on it you get a bunch of sliders with channels -8. Ive discovered that if I move the master sound control in any of the Creative Sound modes software Entertainment/Audio Creation or Gaming the channel sliders in the windows control panel numbered 3-7 all go to zero which stops the surround sound working. It leaves channels and 2 and 8 alone which can be changed with the sound control in the creative software.
Even checking move all the slides together option on the windows control panel is cancelled as soon as I twitch the main sound control. It's driving me nuts. I keep thinking I must be missing something really obvious here but alas I can't think what.
Ive tried lots of different solutions to no avail. Interestingly when I tried to use the autodriver update thing on the creative web site it said that i am using Vista and you'll have to download manually. Which I did and still didnt resolve my problem.
Sorry no solutions just more problems lets hope someone can help!
Edit - Just discovered - I have XFi Pro if I use the I/O Console volume dial it works fine, but if I use the software volume control it all goes wrong. Think I posted in the wrong thread as well as this is vista but it just seemed so relevant.
