Multi-tier system...hurry for points.

Hi all,
We say user-exits is a 2-tier system SAP->Customer but badi is a muti-tier system like SAP->IBU->partner->customer and so on.....
Could any body let me explain this point in simple language with eg. with out any link......

  • What System Landscape for Point-to-Point communication

    Hi experts,
i was searching for information about point-to-point communication and I'm a little confused currently. So maybe you can help me with some answers to clear up the confusion.
To use Point-to-point communication a Enterprise Service Repository is needed. And to get a Enterprise Service Repository a SAP NetWeaver CE or PI installation is needed. Is this right?
And to use the ESR as a middleware to use P2P communication what patch level does the ECC 6.0 need?
Hope you can help and provide some information.
    Regards,
    Tan

    no idea?
The main question is if Point-to-Point communication needs any kind of integration server (like Enterprise Service Repository) or not.
And what Support Package Level is needed to use point-to-point communication. Does the SP-Level depend on the used service?
Ok, I found the answer to the questions, maybe it help some of you.
As I see point-to-point needs no integration server, and EhP5 seems to be neccessary.
My next question is about the Business Functions that come along with EhP5. So there are (point-to-point) web services but are there any SAP components for general ledger connection (SAP AFI - SAP FI interface)?

  • Using Basic or Multi-tier configuration for WLS Clusters...

    Ok,
The scenario is: I'm using WLS6.1 (hopefully, version doesn't matter here)
with three instances clustered. Each instance provides all Services:
Servlets / JSPs/ EJBs / Database communication... I'm using the Basic
configuration described on the BEA documentation....
Now, I want to move forward to a Multi-tier configuration, where the first
layer will serve Servlets and JSPs and the second layer will serve EJBs.
The problem: On the first scenario, I was looking EJBs with the Default
InitialContext() constructor without the environment, since everybody was on
              the same JVM...
What do I have to do, so my Servlets start looking for EJBs on the second
cluster now? Do I have to re-write every single lookup? Can I use a
jndi.properties file on the first layer - on the presentation tier?
              Thanks in Advance,
              Marcelo.

              Thanks Patrick!
But my actual problem starts here. The Servlets aren't mine. We have to support
applications which run atop our product(which is a bunch of beans+RMI Objects
running on the top of WLS) in a backward compatible way with a standalone.
Will try and make a post if I can find a 'configurable' way out.

  • Multi-camera IMAQdx systems: shortcuts for stitched composite image

Imagine a system using for example multiple GigE cameras through the IMAQdx interface where we wish to form a composite stitched image from the multiple camera views. The stitching principle is naive, straigthforward concatenation, one next to another.
The problem is that where it is trivial to build such a composite image, it's difficult to do it very efficiently. The image sizes are large, tens of megapixels, so every copy matters. Alternative hardware configurations would open up a lot of options but say we're stuck using GigE cameras and (atleast initially) the IMAQdx interface. What tricks, or even hacks, can you guys imagine facing this challenge?
I've seen some talk about the IMAQdx grab buffers and it appears to me that one cannot manually assign those buffers or access them directly. The absolute optimal scenario would of course be to hack your way around to stream the image data directly next to each other in the memory, sort of as shown below in scenario1.png:
The above, however, doesn't seem to be too easily achieved. Second scenario then would be to acquire into individual buffers and perform one copy into the composite image. See illustration below:
Interfaces usually allow this with relative ease. I haven't tested it yet but based on the documentation using ring buffer acquisition and "IMAQdx Extract Image.vi" this should be possible. Can anyone confirm this? The copying could be performed by external code as well. The last scenario, without ring buffer, using "IMAQdx Get Image2.vi" might look like this:
The second copy is a waste so this scenario should be out of the question.
I hope this made some sense. What do you wizards say about it?
    Solved!

    Hi,
Sorry, the contraints are not really well documented as they are dependent on platform, camera type, camera capabilities, and how the driver handles things. All of these are subject to change and so we decided instead to try to make the errors be very self-descriptive to explain how to fix any requirements.
You are correct that these fundamentally come down to making sure that the image buffer specified is able to be directly transferred to by the driver. The largest requirement is that the image data type is the same and doesn't need any decoding/conversion step. The other requirements are more flexible and change depending on many factors:
    - No borders, since this adds a discontinuity between each line. This error doesn't apply to GigE Vision (since the CPU moves the data into the buffer) or to USB3 Vision cameras that have a special "LinePitch" feature that can allow them to pad the image lines. The USB drivers of more modern OSes (like Win8+) have more advanced DMA capabilities so it is possible/likely that this also can be ignored in the future.
    - Line width must be a multiple of 64-bytes (the native image line alignment on Windows) - same as border
So, if you end up using GigE Vision cameras, this should just work. If you want to use USB3 Vision you have a few more contraints to work with.

  • Multi-tier ssl

Here is quick question for you weblogic Guru's :P
I have a multi tier setup with 3 web servers and 3 app servers
My web servers are apache running the weblogic proxy plugin.
Now.. As far as i can tell my web servers (apache) are handling all the SSL information,
and in my apache cluster configuration my 443 ports point to my 4701 (non SSL
weblogic port). I currently have SSL turned on in WeblogicCommerceServer3.1 and
i am wondering. Do i really need it turned on? as far as i can tell, Weblogic
starts up a SSL ThreadPool at startup and i dont think it is being used..
Please Give me whatever feedback you guys may have?
i just want to understand what exaclty is going on and how it interferes with
    my servers/application..
    thanks everyone
    Quintin...

    Hey Quintin
    my two pennies:
If you're totally sure that your Apache server is handling all SSL connection and WebLogic
is just doing normal, cleartext HTTP on the backend, then you are right.
There is no reason for you to have https enabled on WebLogic with your configuration. If
you're concerned about the SSLThread pool, I recommend disabling https. It should not
interfere with anything in your server or application, to my knowledge.
Hit the admin console, click "servers->myserver" and then on the right look for the SSL tag
and disable it. Restart your server. The SSL port (4701) should now be free (not used) and
the SSLThreadPool should not exist within the VM, as far as I know.
If you ever decide to make the traffic between Apache and WebLogic SSL, then just make sure
you're using the plug-in from at least WLS 6.0sp2-- prior to that you can't do SSL between
    Apache and WebLogic.
    Then check out http://edocs.beasys.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/plugin_params.html#1143055 for
    the details.
    Hope this helps.

  • Default schema names in multi-tier landscape

    Hi folks,
    We have an interesting problem due to having different named default schemas in each of our 3 hana systems.  For example lets say these are our default schemas in our development, staging, and production HANA systems;
    DEV_SCHEMA
    QA_SCHEMA
    PROD_SCHEMA
Each of these replicating data from their corresponding SAP source systems.
Now, we have a view that is developed on DEV hana box and uses DEV_SCHEMA.  When this view content is imported to QA or PROD we handle easily with schema mapping.  All is well and good although we are not really a fan of this different naming and us developers did not choose this naming (self defense plea here for us brilliant developers whom never make such mistakes... PS: HI LARS! - Go Germany!)
Now we are setting up a connection from BW into HANA using system connection and inside this is a parameter called 'db user'.  Although it's called db user it's actually looking for a SCHEMA name.  If BW DEV is querying from HANA DEV this schema name would be DEV_SCHEMA.  However if BW_QA is querying from HANA_QA then the name would need to be QA_SCHEMA but in our BW landscape we are locked in QA and PROD and normally can not and/or do not want to edit objects in non-native systems.  Ideally what we need is our default schemas in HANA to have the same exact name throughout the HANA landscape.
All this said, I can see that it would be great to re-name our entire HANA landscape however that would be a HUGE monumental undertaking as all systems would need to be re-replicated again (at least I think).
Just curious if anybody else has named their schemas differently on each tier?  What are most people doing?  Naming the default schemas the same consistently or are you using schema mapping?
    Thanks,
    -Patrick

    Hi Luke,
I am new to the project and there seems to be no original version.  At some point a bunch of the destination field names were changed on the admin console and errors resulted from it both due to mismatched joins and the use of two word field names.  I have documentation of the names for the set of tables in the function area but am having trouble with how everything matches up in the bottom half..  I'll keep working on it

  • Concurrency in Swing,  Multi-processor system

    I have two questions:
    1. This is a classic situation where I am looking for a definitive answer on: I've read about the single-thread rule/EDT, SwingWorker, and the use of invokeLater()/invokeAndWait(). The system I am designing will have multiple Swing windows (JInternalFrames) that do fairly complex GUI work. No direct interaction is needed between the windows which greatly simplifies things. Some windows are horrendously complex, and I simply want to ensure that one slow window doesn't bog the rest of the UIs. I'm not entirely clear on what exactly I should be threading: the entire JInternalFrame itself should be runnable? The expensive operation within the JInternalFrame? A good example of this is a complex paint() method: in this case I've heard of spawning a thread to render to a back-buffer of sorts, then blitting the whole thing when ready. In short, what's the cleanest approach here to ensure that one rogue window doesn't block others? I apologize if this is something addressed over and over but most examples seem to point to the classic case of "the expensive DB operation" within a Swing app.
    2. Short and sweet: any way to have Swing take advantage of multi-processor systems, say, a system with 6 processors available to it? If you have one Swing process that spawns 10 threads, that's still just one process and the OS probably wouldn't be smart enough to distribute the threads across processors, I'm guessing. Any input on this would be helpful. Thank you!

    (1) You need to use a profiler. This is the first step in any sort of optimization. The profiler does two important things: First, it tells you where are the real bottlenecks (which is usually not what you expect), and eliminates any doubt as to a certain section of code being 'slow' or 'fast'. Second, the profilter lets you compare results before and after. That way, you can check that your code changes actually increased performance, and by exactly how much.
    (2) Generally speaking, if there are 10 threads and 10 CPU's, then each thread runs concurrently on a different CPU.
As per (1), the suggestion to use double buffering is the likely best way to go. When you think about what it takes to draw an image, 90% of it can be done in a worker thread. The geometry, creating Shapes, drawing then onto a graphics object, transformations and filters, all that can be done offline. Only copying the buffered image onscreen is the 10% that needs to happen in the EDT thread. But again, use a profiler first.

  • Recover/install Win7 onto multi-boot system - too many primary partitions?

I have a few questions:  (first a background question, and then I'll get to the heart of the issue)
First, on a new laptop with factory installed Win7, I see there are 3 primary partitions - a 1.5GB "MBR-0", a ~10GB recovery partition, and the main installation partition.  What is the 1.5GB one for, and what's on it?  An MBR certainly doesn't need 1.5GB.  Does Win7 create that, or is that something unique for Toshiba?
If I'm using a 3rd party boot-manager (BootitNG via an EMBR on its own partition), can I just wipe that 1.5GB partition?   And, can the recovery installation be set up to create the Toshiba-Win7 recovery partition (and that 1.5GB one) as extended volumes within the Win7 primary partition, and not to make them as its own new primary partition?
And now to the main problem:  (the gist of it is, how many partitions will the Win7 recovery disks create? and can I customize it?)
I have a new toshiba c650 laptop that came with Win7 installed.  I created the one-time recovery DVDs first thing (it made 4 of them - Disk 1,2,3, and "64-bit environment").
I then wanted to set up a multi-boot system between Win7, and 2 instances of XP (one of which is a fresh install, the other being an image backup off a computer that died). I want each OS on its own primary partition, where each only sees/knows of itself.  Also, I'll have one small, 50MB primary partition for the boot-manager program.
Of course, a drive can only have 4 primary partitions (if working with standard tools like fdisk, etc).  To get around that (if needed), my boot-manager program will support as many primary partitions as I want, provided I use only it alone to manage/create my partitions.
Skipping the details, here's what I have now:  I wiped the hard drive, except for that 1.5GB MBR-0 partitition, for now, till I find what it is.  (Since XP doesn't recognize Win7, using XP's install cd would overwrite the factory Win7 installation, so I installed XP first on its own primary partition - and it's working fine).  I have the boot manager program on a second primary partition.  I then created 2 more primary partitions - one to place the XP-drive-image into, and one to install Win7.  So, the entire drive is now fully utilized and partitioned.
    But here's the problem...
starting with the boot manager program, I'm pointing to boot from the empty Win-7 partition, which upon finding no OS, will cue it to boot from the DVD, and go on about its installation business.  So far so good.  At this point, Win7 will only "see" the empty partition reserved for it.  However, if Win7 tries to create an extra 1 or 2 new primary partitions (like how it came from the factory), the drive will end up with 6 primary partitions - not good.  So, my XP partitions would likely get overwritten.
Having 6 primary partitions wouldn't be a problem, as long as I create/manage them only with the boot manager - but in this case the Win7 installation would likely create them during installation instead. If I pre-create those partitions (the 1.5GB one, and the 10GB one) with the boot manager, can I point Win7 during the installation to utilize those?  How?
One more side note:   When I'm in XP now, XP only "sees" it's own partition, but still senses that there's more room on the drive - it just considers it all as unallocated space.  I'm guessing Win7 would do the same thing?  And if it does, I'm worried it would start sticking its own new partitions there into what it "sees" as "unallocated space", even though my other partitions are there.
If you made it through this longwinded mess, thanks for what help you can provide!  How should I get Win7 on there, without damaging the existing partitions?

Ok, so I finally got it all to work.
In case anyone else runs into this question where you have to use the Toshiba recovery DVDs to reinstall Windows 7, without damaging other existant partitions, here's the trick:  You have to pre-create an NTFS primary partition at the very front of the disk (1st primary partition), make it at least 20GB (preferably more, since this will be where you run Windows7 - unless you also later create another partition solely for data/programs/etc). Then during the recovery, select the option to keep current partitioning intact.  Everything will be placed in that first partition alone (the contents of which which the Win7 setup will erase), and the rest of your disk will be fine.
If you have other partitions already there, and on the rest of the disk, you'll have to first resize the existing partitions to create enough room for this new 1st primary partition.  Then you'll have to shift or slide the current partitions up toward the back end of the disk (with 3rd party software). I also deleted the 1.5GB partition originally at the front of the disk (it's the startup repair partition, I learned), and I had previously deleted the 10GB recovery partition that came factory-placed at the back end of the disk.
The XP-partition I already had on the disk is tested and working fine, and wasn't touched at all by the Windows7 recovery installation.  Installing additional XP-images or other OS's should be simple enough now.

One of our DPs has stopped loading content.
I've research for quite a bit and cannot find a clear cut reason to this.  This server only has a DP role, I verified sharing permissions, all looked good. This DP has been running just fine for the last year or so and all sudden it will no longer load

Error occurred. Performing error cleanup prior to returning.
    Cancelling network connection to \\*****.com\ADMIN$.

Error 64 is being returned which is simply "the network name is no longer available".
There can be a number of reasons for this from SMB compatibility issues (2003 servers wont support SMB2), to the expected and actual computer name of the boxes don't match (tries to authenticate with server.tld.com when the actual name is srv-01.tld.com and
you just put a C-name in). I'd start from the top:  Try opening said share from the Primary Site server as that's the box doing the work.  Verify the IP and computer name is legit and that no one has played ACL games between the two systems (remember
RPC only initiates/listens on port 135 but established connections are up in the dynamic port range).
At the end of the day it's an issues "underneath" SCCM, and not an SCCM problem specifically.

  • Mac upgrade to Yosemite, Adobe Indesign CS5 keyboard shortcuts not working -  t for text  - z for zoom - v for pointer etc

So I upgraded my MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
    to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
Adobe Indesign CS5 generally works with some very annoying bugs.
All major keyboard shortcuts that use a single key command have stopped working. and these happen to be the main ones I use all the time for editing...
    t for text
    z for zoom
    v for pointer
It's annoying because now I have to keep  going back to the tool bar to change my cursor selection. It's just slowing me down.
    Annoying but workable.
Has anyone else go this issue?
An update or fix would be greatly appreciated.

    WARNING!!!
I was contacted by  apparently a third party supplier called Adobe Systems via this forum
They logged in to my computer via team viewer
    installed utorrent
and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600
I don't know how they got my email address from this forum but it seems that the adobe forum has been hacked!
    you have been warned!

  • Windows Backup fails to complete and System shows 29 Restore Points all titled "System Image restore point" but none will work.

Problems both seemed to appear about the same time and may be related.
Had backups on an  external drive prior to the problem and appeared to be working. I have since cleaned the external drive in an attempt to start a new backup series but it continues to stop and report backup has failed.
The System restore was working fine and one day it had changed all the existing Restore Points to "System Image restore point"
but still showed all the different dates.  In the System Properties window it indicates that there are 0 bytes in "current usages",
which I assume they are all empty but I can't create any new ones. I get Error code 0x80042308.
I have tried the Clean Boot with no results. I use MS Security Essentials for virus protection.
I have no other symptoms or problems on the PC.
About ready for a Recovery and start all over.

    Hi,
Your first step should be to run chkdsk /r /f on all the drives in that computer. Shadow copy errors are often caused by disk problems (usually minor) which chkdsk will find and correct.
Also, this issue can be caused that VSS dlls are corrupted.
Re-install the VSS dlls by following these steps:
    a. Using command prompt, CD to the WINDOWS\system32 directory
    b. Stop the Volume Shadow Copy service by executing the command "net stop vss"
    c. Register the following DLLs and services by executing these commands:
    regsvr32 ole32.dll
    regsvr32 vss_ps.dll
    Vssvc /Register
    regsvr32 /i swprv.dll
    regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll
    regsvr32 es.dll
    regsvr32 stdprov.dll
    regsvr32 vssui.dll
    regsvr32 msxml.dll
    regsvr32 msxml3.dll
    regsvr32 msxml4.dll
    Hope these could be helpful.

  • How about two SDN "blogspaces" : one FOR points  and 1 NOT FOR points ?

I suggest that the current SDN logspace be divided into two subspaces:
one for points: this is where technical and/or non-controversial messages would be posted and be rewarded according to the current rules
one not for points: this is where folks would post "controversial" messages (technical or non-technical) that would not get any point reward.
I would personally prefer to post in the "not for points" subspace, for several reasons.
But I'd prefer to see what others have to say before saying what they are.
By the way, there's a US expression "preaching to the choir".  The new blog (for no points) would be for those who are not necessarily "preaching to the choir".
    djh

    david,
i think i do understand your intention and therefore agree with you.
IMHO, the blogsphere here on SDN, as execellent as it is, is kind of a 'posing platform' rather than a discussion space. People do post their contributions, receive their points reward and expect some congratulations and cheering if anything at all. I happened to me that people got upset when I questioned the use or correctness or usefulness of some of the content of their blogs. When it did this with the intention to discuss matters, I recognized that people actually didn't want to discuss their contributions.
Of course the things said above do not hold true for for a big number of contributors.
The same thing thing in the forums. A lot of people do provide very valuable answers but often not discuss matters when points are already given.
So having a discussion area, free of the rewards system's pressures might be a helpful addition. Something like a discussions corner. In Vienna we call this 'Kaffeehaus'
A place where you post some free thought where you don't have to justify the minimum blog reward points, where you don't have to apply the care expected in drafting a blog, etc..
Just freestyle discussion on useful or not so useful topics.
    regards,
    anton

  • Multi-Processor Systems vs Single Processor systems

In general, is it better to run Weblogic on a fast single processor system
or on a multi-processor system where the individual cpus are less powerful?
I am assuming that the platforms are WINTEL and all other things (memory,
    disk channels etc) are equal.
What are the licensing implications of one philosophy over the other?

I am assuming that the platforms are WINTEL and all other things (memory,
disk channels etc) are equal. You'll hate me for saying this, but it depends on your application and
    your client load.
I'd suggest that you run a load test against both systems and compare
    the results.
