Multi-touch iBook on an iPhone?

My company has recently submitted a Multi-touch iBook and received approval. Some of our customers have been confused why they can not open it on their iPhone.  This is not something I expected, but now that phones with bigger screens are available, I supposed these iBooks are more usable.  Is this a feature that Apple will introduce?
Thanks!

We are fellow users here on these forums, we won't know what Apple might be planning until if/when they announce something, but at the moment they can only be read on iPads - you can't open any ibooks created in iBooks Author on iPhones.

  • How many Multi-Touch points can an iPhone/iPod touch have at the same time?

    How many Multi-Touch points can an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad have at the same time?
    I am curious as IIRC (but forgot where the article is on the Internet),
    if a touch surface is wanted to be able to detect more than 1 touch point at the same time,
    then that touch surface needs adding 1 more conductive(?) layer.
    (e.g. 2 points -> 2 layers, and so on)
    So I wonder how many these layers are on the iPhone / iPod touch / iPad or even the trackpad on every MacBook (Pro).
    (correct me if I'm wrong)
    Just curious, thanks in advance!

    I believe it can only support 2. This article explains how the touch screen works but doesn't explicitly say how many points is supports.

    Does iOS 8 support multi-touch iBooks?

    The apps still function, you lose a feature of synchronization that those with newer devices can use. That is part of progress.

  • Are Multi-Touch iBooks Viewable on iPod?

    Can the new multi-touch iBooks be viewed on an iPod Touch? I realize it wouldn't be seen in its full glory, but does it work? What I've seen of iBooks Author just mentions iPad for development and deployment.
    Thanks for any clarification,

  • TS4443 Unable to sync multi touch ibooks from iPad to iphone

    Hi,
    Purchased and downloaded a multi touch book from ibooks to iPad air, but it does not sync to iPhone.
    Can it? Should it be able to?
    Thanks

    Does the book's description in the store say that it's compatible with iPhones ? If it is then what happens when you try to sync it via your computer's iTunes ? Have you tried redownloading it directly on your phone via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app ?

  • Multi-touch, ibooks author, satisfactory outcome?

    A few months ago I was shown a multi-touch book made with ibooks author. I had published my memoir a year ago and realised early that distributors did not display indie authours. My book was completely invisible. I looked at the the multi-touch section at iTunes to find very few books available. Ok, so with ibooks authour I was able to present my book how I always wanted it to be, with galleries, sound samples, links and playlists. Making it was easy but my issues with iTunes connect have really done me in ... by the way WARNING: I have been told by iTunes connect you have one....just one chance to include a screen shot for your multi-touch book preview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you upload one on the first delivery! I shan't bore you with my issues or communication with them as they have been lengthy.
    They have published my book, however, my multi-touch is not on display. Still the shelves at the iTunes (AU) store look empty. They won't answer my questions on how books make it to the shelves and again the book is completely invisible.
    Any happy endings out there?
    Cheers

    Only available on the iTunes store......and that's another story. Can an Australian set up a US account?
    You can create an Apple ID for the US store without a credit card, and make purchases with gift cards for the US store purchased on eBay and the like.

  • IPhone and multi-touch

    I assume everyone has been following the iPhone announcement
    today:
    http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/live-from-macworld-2007-steve-jobs-keynote/
    I also am assuming that since it runs OS X, we can download
    Flash 8 & 9
    desktops apps (and even created standalone). Correct?
    But what we really need is to be able to tap into the
    multi-touch interface:
    1. stretching and zooming photography
    2. zooming and exploring maps
    3. getting all one's fingers into intereractive paint and
    draw tools, etc.
    I used a multi-touch at SIGGRAPH Boston 2006
    http://cs.nyu.edu/~jhan/ftirtouch/
    ) and it is very very cool.
    Is Adobe partnering with Apple to produce special fscommands
    for a iPhone
    centric version of Flash?
    [I have a huge load of apps and ideas, as well as a startup
    company if Adobe
    will pursue this!]
    Dr. Yechezkal Gutfreund - Adobe ACE for Mobile Devices

    Mark, right on.
    It would be a logical platform for Flash given some of its
    core
    philosophy in its design. However, the details about OSX and
    Safari
    support are still far too vague as you point out below.
    It wouldn't surprise me in the least, if they modified "OSX"
    to "OSX
    Mobile" as they move closer to deployment ... but, perhaps
    all they need
    is a kernel to technically call it "OSX"? Not sure.
    Speaking of which ... I think we are forgetting too, how
    stable Symbian
    and other mobile device centric OSes and platforms are. How
    long have
    they been working at "OSX for the iPhone", one year? perhaps
    two? Looks
    impressive in the demo ... but it's only a demo. How much was
    "off the
    cuff" and not stagged, we have no way of knowing ...
    My point being, a SBOD ("spinning ball of death") on a mobile
    device
    might equate to a death sentence (well, for a first time user
    iPhone
    experiences), *even* with all the great UI and features
    they've added.
    Here's hoping they do some exhaustive device and field
    testing before
    rollout later this year ... in order to limi the amount of
    software
    and/or firmware updates they have to do later on (we've seen
    that on the
    initial IPods to be sure) ...
    All in all, I'm hopeful, given Apple's track record with
    previous
    desktop versions of OSX and delivering stable releases (well
    more
    reliable and complete than say, Microsoft), they'll have
    something worth
    putting on the iPhone come end of year. Time will tell.

  • Iphone 5 multi touch spoiled

    Hi,
    I recently updated my iphone 5 (approx 2 yrs old) from ios 7.1 to 7.1.1
    Post this, the iphone display is going nuts. Most of the time it will not recognise the touch.
    I have to lock and unlock the phone to get the touch work (still it will work only for 4-5 seconds and becomes unresponsive again).
    I restored but to no help. I contacted the apple service centre and they told me that due to the update multi touch is spoiled.
    They checked that it is not due to any liquid spillage or any other thing.
    But they cannot help me as the warranty is expired and quoting huge amount to get the phone replaced.
    Anybody else faced similar issue after softwares update?
    If yes, how can I get this fixed
    TIA

    Hi pogster,
    I got the above reply from apple authorized service center. They after checking the phone told that the update might have failed to recognize the display component and hence have this issue.
    I again contacted apple support over chat and the guy confirmed the update has failed to recognize as the particular display component has hardware issue.
    Apple support -->
    "it’s indicating that there was an issue with the component with the touch screen not accepting the update. There can be a number of different causes. In this scenario it’s just indicating an internal communication issue."
    Due to the hardware issue, that’s why we’re experiencing this problem. The issue isn’t due to the update, that would indicate a software issue which during a restore and setup as new would be resovled.
    It wasn’t caused due to the update. It’s indicating that issue was already there with that component. The update, confirmed the issue with the hardware component."
    He told me to get it replaced by paying an out of warranty price.
    But I dont understand that if there was an hardware issue accepting updates, then why the phone got updated to next software version. It was working properly with the previous version.

  • Multi-touch too sensitive iPhone 5

    I have been experiencing a very annoying problem. I have changed my iPhone 5 twice already because of this.
    When I try to write something, it keeps closing my keyboard, pressing buttons without me touching it. It closes the app I am using, or decides by itself to add a picture to my conversation.
    It looks like the screen is way too sensitve and that it multi-touches every button available, to a point that I cant even have a proper txt msg conversation anymore. It has a life of its own.
    Any suggestions of how I can solve this problem?

  • Multi-Touch Gesturing on iPhone 4

    Hi guys, i did the whole XCode via MacBook Pro thing with my iPad 2, that gave me Multi-Touch Gesturing which is sooo sweet....4-5 finger swipe accross apps, 4-5 finger swipe up to show the mult-tasking pane; 4-5 finger pinch-close to get to the home screen........What can beat that??????
    Issue is , I tried to do the same steps (via Xcode on my MacBook) for my iPhone but it doesnt work on my iPhone..the  feature doesnt exist in settings.... , maybe they just built it for iPad?
    Does anyone know?

    Agreed. I just assumed it would be functional on my fancy new 4s, I was shocked that it was missing! I stared at the settings panel for way too long, then busted out the iPad and compared settings panels, indeed, the toggle is completely absent on the iPhone!
    A three finger up/down for task bar, left/right for app switch, and pinch for home would be awesome.

  • IPhone SDK Multi-Touch Bug?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to handle multi-touch events and this is the bug I'm seeing ( using SDK beta 4 ):
    The first touch I make has a valid position ( using locationInView instance method ). However, any touches made while the first touch is being held down have invalid positions ( 0,0 ). Here's my code:
    // Handle touch events
    - (void)touchesChangedWithEvent:(UIEvent*)event
    printf( "* TOUCHES CHANGED EVENT!\n" );
    NSSet *touches = [event allTouches];
    for( UITouch *touch in touches )
    // Grab the location of the touch
    CGPoint touchPos = [touch locationInView:self];
    // Touch began
    if( touch.phase == UITouchPhaseBegan )
    printf( "**** TOUCH BEGAN AT ( %f, %f )\n", touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    iRKInputSetNewTouch();
    iRKInputSetPos( touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    // Touch moved
    else if( touch.phase == UITouchPhaseMoved )
    printf( "**** TOUCH MOVED AT ( %f, %f )\n", touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    iRKInputSetPos( touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    // Touch stationary
    else if( touch.phase == UITouchPhaseStationary )
    printf( "**** TOUCH STATIONARY AT ( %f, %f )\n", touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    iRKInputSetPos( touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    // Touch ended
    else if( touch.phase == UITouchPhaseEnded )
    printf( "**** TOUCH ENDED AT ( %f, %f )\n", touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    iRKInputClearTouch();
    iRKInputResetPos();
    Anyone else seeing this? Or am I doing something wrong?
    Also, any help on displaying source code would be appreciated too
    Thanks!
    - Bryan

    So, with the following multiple event code I seem to be getting an even worse problem: Multiple touches aren't even triggering the events and my first touch is always the only UITouch in the set ( even when I have two or three fingers touching the screen ). This is on the device using SDK beta 4.
    // Handles the start of a touch
    - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event
    printf( "* TOUCH BEGAN
    for( UITouch *touch in touches )
    // Grab the location of the touch
    CGPoint touchPos = [touch locationInView:self];
    // Touch began
    //if( touch.phase == UITouchPhaseBegan )
    printf( "**** TOUCH BEGAN AT ( %f, %f )
    ", touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    iRKInputSetNewTouch();
    iRKInputSetPos( touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    // Handles the continuation of a touch.
    - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event
    printf( "* TOUCH MOVED
    for( UITouch *touch in touches )
    // Grab the location of the touch
    CGPoint touchPos = [touch locationInView:self];
    // Touch moved
    //if( touch.phase == UITouchPhaseMoved )
    printf( "**** TOUCH MOVED AT ( %f, %f )
    ", touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    iRKInputSetPos( touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    // Handles the end of a touch event.
    - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event
    printf( "* TOUCH ENDED
    for( UITouch *touch in touches )
    // Grab the location of the touch
    CGPoint touchPos = [touch locationInView:self];
    // Touch ended
    //if( touch.phase == UITouchPhaseEnded )
    printf( "**** TOUCH ENDED AT ( %f, %f )
    ", touchPos.x, touchPos.y );
    iRKInputClearTouch();
    iRKInputResetPos();
    So when this is run and press the screen I get correct messages output to the console telling me a touch began / moved with the correct position. However, when I keep that press held and press somewhere else I get no other messages. When I move the first touch ( while keeping both touches held to the screen ) it gives me correct messages again but yet it's the only UITouch object in "touches".
    Anyone else seeing problems with this?
    Any help would be great! Thanks!

  • Hey! My iPhone 4 Multi-Touch display Freezes Up???

    Lately the Multi-Touch screen freezes up! Won't respond to my touch! Even when I tried to power it down, I'm unable to get the "arrow bar" to respond!!! It wasn't until a few tries pressing both the "power down button & reset button" that I was I was finally able to turn it off & power it up to finally get the screen to respond to my touch.
    Is this a hardware issue or software??

    Probally your handset, no one else that I know of has had the issue.

    You won't be able to open it on your computer, ibooks can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. How were you trying to get it to your phone, syncing it by selecting it on the iPhone's Books tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, or by dragging-and-dropping it from the Books part of your iTunes library over and onto the iPhone 'device' ?  Another option is to try re-downloading it directly in the iBooks app on your iPhone via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in it (re-downloading).

    multi-touch display is not functioning as normal on the right half of the screen....

    Hi James,
    Thx for the quick reply...
    I have already tried most of these troubleshooting steps but no go....
    Also, when you tap or use only the right half of the screen, the touch display is inconsistent and makes a wierd sound [ like a hollow tub or something ] and it's not a cosmetic issue...
    ----Apple store / Authorized Service Center is still working on this ongoing issue with no results and still not confirming for the iphone replacement...Thnx..

  • Multi touch screen fix

    Multi touch screen needs calibrated on iPhone 4S.  Anyone know how this is done.

    No such thing as calibrating your display.  If restoring your phone as a NEW device (not using backup at all) doesn't resolve your issue, you'll need to take your phone in to Apple for evaluation.
